Some highlights: * They were very upfront about a quote, and what they would charge for and what they wouldn't (other caterers required a lot of back and forth before they would give firm prices) * Their rates were very reasonable, and they weren't nickel and dime-ing their wedding costs. Any fee they charged felt incredibly reasonable, and the initial quote roughly matched the final quote even though we changed a lot of aspects about the catering. This is surprisingly rare in the wedding industry (where others often have hidden fees everywhere), and it made it very easy to work with them for any odd requests. * They were incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful for all aspects of the wedding * This is a family business, and our communication was all directly to the owner (Marc), which meant that he was well aware of all aspects of what the business could provide * The food was excellent. Marc and his team recently catered our wedding at the Temescal Beach House, where they are on the list of city-approved caterers. The food was delicious and his staff was very experienced--you can tell they've been doing this for a while! I'm sure they provide the same excellent service and delicious food at other venues too. The Arlington had the best price quote of all the caterers on the official list, but the food was delicious and excellent quality. So many companies gouge for anything wedding-related, especially food. But Marc's pricing was quite reasonable for everything it included...and delicious! We got lots of compliments on the food. Early on, Marc arranged a tasting for us and explained our different options. He also explained exactly what his team would provide (pretty much everything we needed) and gave us a contract with everything itemized. He also accommodated some special meals for a few guests who were vegan, gluten-free, or children. As the date got closer we spoke regularly to ensure everything was in place and arrange the final details, and make a few last-minute changes to the seating plan Marc had suggested. We even had a special request for our desserts, which Marc and team handled wonderfully. For the Beach House, Marc will give you an idea of a typical schedule, and typical ceremony/reception seating, and you can use that to build out your special day. They've obviously worked the Beach House room many times before and they helped make sure everything went smoothly, from being there on time to regularly checking in with us and making sure we got appetizers and dinner so we didn't go hungry/get hangry! :D I definitely recommend them...set up a tasting so you can see and taste things for yourself. We had Lindsey from the team act as our day-of coordinator and she really eased a lot of the planning burden by helping us get organized for the big day, and she was really helpful in making sure everything went smoothly day of! Our venue had a less than ideal kitchen, but Marc persevered and delivered what many told us was the best wedding food they've ever tasted (including me!). ** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** I naturally assumed I'd never try the food here because I thought they were strictly caterers, and I'm not one that frequents neighborhood social events. First I'd have to be invited, and then I could turn them down. I believe that's how it would work if I was popular, but now the pandemic has turned us all into culinary wallflowers. That means social distancing severely limits the opportunity to cater events, and the owners have wisely rejiggered their business model to focus on a takeout service. How else could they survive shelter-in-place? I walk by quite frequently, so I've read their sandwich board which features their daily specials. On one such jaunt, I suggested to Jamie W. that we pick up dinner on the way home. We were about twenty minutes away, so I gave them a call to place an order. Normally it would take longer, but I suggested to the one answering the phone that we receive it cold so we could heat them up ourselves when we get home. We decided to each get the $5 Arugula Salad which was quite a deal with chopped beets, feta, sunflower seeds, and a balsamic vinaigrette on the side (photo: https://bit.ly/2Z0wL4S). For our entrees, we ordered their daily special, the $16 Grilled Atlantic Salmon with rice pilaf, zucchini, chopped celery, and spinach leaves, and a tarragon aioli on the side (photo: https://bit.ly/2V4sPi3). In addition to being a phenomenal and creative chef, Marc was gracious with our many and growing dietary requests. Our menu was 100% vegan, and free of gluten, peanuts, and garlic - our guests were stunned to hear that there was no garlic in anything. I had the pleasure of enjoying for the first time ever a chicken curry salad sandwich. I was able to try it at a city of Berkeley event for the Mother's Day event that they catered. It was amazing. Marc was great to work with as we got everything ready for our wedding. We didn't know what we were doing and it was a last minute wedding but he helped us out a lot with not only the food but the table decor and layout of the wedding. On the wedding day, Marc and the team were so helpful and kind. They always checked with us, bride and groom, to make sure we had food and drinks during the cocktail hour while we took photos, they checked in with us on the timeline and made sure we ate on time while the food was fresh. The decor turned out amazing and the food was delicious! Everyone loved all the food-tri tip, tarragon chicken, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables! The bar team was beyond helpful! At one point we were running out of alcohol, our fault for underestimating our guests lol, but the bartender Lindsey offered to go to Costco to get us more alcohol!! We worked with Marc at The Arlington for our summer 2024 wedding at the Brazilian Room. Marc responds quickly to emails and quickly set us up with a complimentary tasting, where he kindly explained all of the catering options. What I really appreciated about Marc and the rest of The Arlington team is that they're very straightforward, no frills people. For example, they won't try to sell extra "things" (i.e. napkin holders, more expensive silverware), but will definitely present you with the option if that's what you want-they are not pushy at all, which was such a breath of fresh air relative to other caterers we considered working with. They will 100% work with you to meet your needs while sticking to your budget. In terms of food on our wedding day, everything tasted great and they were able to accommodate all dietary restrictions. They did a great job setting up and breaking down the reception and ceremony space, and we had a beautiful, stress-free wedding day! The staff was very helpful and the set up looked beautiful. Marc knew all about the venue and what the best set up and tablecloth options were. I hired Marc and his team at The Arlington to cater my daughter's wedding at Temescale Beach House last Saturday. Throughout the process, Marc was very organized and helpful, handling many of the venue questions I had about arrival, closing out, using the fireplace, whatever. In the end, Marc and his team managed all of that so I didn't have to work with anyone else the day of the reception. I cannot overstate how very happy I was with the entire experience. Not only was the food lovely and delicious, it was served by a team of very friendly, capable staff. They stayed on top of the schedule, serving plenty of appetizers and wine on the patio while photos were taken and making sure no one went hungry. Everyone commented on how delicious the spanikoptia, stuffed mushrooms, bacon-wrapped dates, and herb-crusted salmon were. I was very proud to serve both the appetizers and dinner. The staff were available for questions during the event, and the buffet, champagne, cake, etc., were all served at exactly the right time. Maybe most importantly to me, as someone who has managed so many events myself, I knew I was in good hands and didn't have to work about timing or quality control, so I could just be present and enjoy my daughter's big day. At the end of the night, they packed up leftovers for us to take home, including the cake top to freeze. It held up beautifully and we enjoyed it the next day (when we were, frankly, so tired that not having to cook was a real treat). I offer The Arlington Catering my highest praise. We had planned to host an engagement dinner for 80 guests, and had to scramble quickly as our original catering plans were scrapped. Since we had to work through EBParks we found The Arlington. They were great in accommodating our wants and needs while being very friendly with our budget. They were also very communicative, and being our first catered event they even gave us some advice for keeping costs budget friendly. Everyone at the party loved both our main dishes and the appetizers that were provided. The Arlington is delicious! I hired Trish and the Arlington for my wedding and was not disappointed. My husband and I went in for a tasting and were blown away by the quality of everything we ate. We had a hard time paring down the menu because everything was so good! On the day of, Trish and her team were prompt and had everything set up in record time. When I arrived at the venue she greeted me at the door and offered champagne for my and my bridesmaids. It's the little things! While Trish was a little slow to respond to emails, she was very transparent about what the costs were and where my money was going. As the event got closer it was very easy to adjust the requests based on the RSVPs I'd received. She was also a great source of information, especially when it came to how much alcohol to buy or what was available at my venue. My only major complaint was that the bar was left unattended towards the end of the night. While it was an open beer and wine bar, guests were walking back there and helping themselves to bottles of wine (since there was no bartender to be found). I also, had a large number of children at the wedding who easily could have grabbed something alcoholic instead of the fruit juice I had provided. Four stars, my a** The food they provided at Riggers Loft was TERRIBLE. Dried out, overcooked falafel balls, potatoes that seemed to be leftover from many days prior. The Arlington catered our wedding, and we couldn't have been happier with the results! First, Trish was amazing! She helped us plan something really beautiful (e.g. fruit & fish platters) and tasty on a really tight budget, even letting our guests bring in a couple of special dishes. Of course we had no official planner, so she made some great suggestions (e.g. on food, alcohol, setup of the room) that turned out to be exactly right for our more casual (we didn't have a sit-down dinner) event. The linens perfectly matched our theme, and the staff was amazing throughout. Her moral support was key as some challenges (related to the venue, not the caterer) arose, but were overcome to make it the wedding of our dreams. Trish catered our wedding on December 27, 2019 at the Brazilian Room. She did an absolutely wonderful job, though I feel like that doesn't quite capture how I feel. Her sense of calm put me to ease and for good reason. She is so personable, relaxed, and easy to work with. The food was fantastic (everyone was raving!) and they gave us the leftovers. They let you customize the menu however you want, which is helpful when you have a tight budget. She made suggestions when we were stuck, and was never pushy or came across as only wanting our money.
