Our April wedding took place at the Brazilian Room, and Oded is the BEST caterer that we could have hoped for. He was attentive to the details, consistent and clear in his communication, and a fun and warm presence on top of all of that. His staff are professional, friendly, and savvy. The food was DELISH: fresh, flavorful, and served thoughtfully by staff at the buffet. Oded and his sous-chef know how to cook vegetarian food that has rich umami flavors; he sources ingredients locally, and seasonally, by default; and he was flexible with us and our guests in terms of allergies and preferences. At the Brazilian room, the caterer is the backbone of the whole operation. Oded is someone you can trust to coordinate, to orchestrate, and to delight your guests. D&A read more

Jasmine Catering was a highlight (not THE highlight in case my wife reads this) of our wedding at the Brazil Room. Our contact was Oded Hilu and I was incredibly impressed by how quickly and consistently he communicated over the year before our wedding, along with the 30+ emails we sent him the week before the event. The food was great at the tasting and the event and they were able to create delicious dishes even with a variety of dietary restrictions. The staff on the day of the event was also impressive, as they were responsible for most of the setup of the dinner and ceremony, along with takedown and cleanup at the end. A very efficient operation that knew what they needed to do in accordance with the table arrangements we'd worked out with them. A number of guests mentioned how attentive the servers were with appetizers and drinks. Overall, fantastic service and fully worth the money for how smoothly they made our wedding turn out! read more

My wife and I are very happy that we chose Jasmine Catering for our wedding at the Brazilian Room. Oded is extremely responsive and answered all of my questions quickly via email leading up to the big day. The food was delicious and his team did a great job setting up and breaking down the event. I can't speak highly enough of their staff. They made sure that everyone was well fed and always had a drink in hand. They were also super flexible with both the menu and the set up for the event. I hired Jasmine Catering for my husband's Celebration of Life gathering at the Temescal Beach House. And I'm so glad I did. Oded's communication with me on all the details was excellent and his responses were very quick. The catering crew exceeded my expectations and did a phenomenal job. A big shout out to Christine for helping me with last-minute details and coming up with good suggestions. The food was tasty and perfect for the event. We used Jasmine catering for our wedding at Piedmont Community Hall. Hiring Jasmine was probably the best decision we made in the planning process! The food was plentiful, flavorful, and beautifully presented and served. We had guests complimenting us on the food and drinks all night, with many telling us it was the best food they have every had at a wedding! Crowd favorites were the chicken satay sticks, the walnut chicken, and eggplant terrine, but everything there tasted incredible. The tables were also beautifully arranged. In addition to the excellent food and service the day of the wedding, the planning process was so smooth with Oded. He would often respond to emails within minutes and was very accommodating of every request. His pricing was also very reasonable compared to other caterers we considered. I wanted to share my experience with Oded who helped me with planning a memorial celebration of life for my mom. We were unable to use Jasmine Catering but their professionalism and willingness to help us with a last minute event did not go unnoticed. However aided was wonderful to work with in the short time we need a lot of constant revision IG of the menu and details. read more

We hired Jasmine Catering for our wedding in the Brazilian Room and the food and service were phenomenal. A particular high point was the sous vide salmon that was part of dinner. It was better than anything I've ever made with our sous vide at home. I'm very impressed that they managed to cook salmon that perfectly for 100+ people at once. Throughout the planning process Oded was exceedingly organized, competent and responsive. We gave them the broad contours of what we wanted and our day of timetable and it all went off perfectly. It made wedding planning so much easier knowing everything was under control. I would absolutely hire Jasmine Catering again for another event. read more

We used Jasmine Catering for our LGBTQ wedding, and their service and the food were beyond excellent!!! Our entire experience from start to finish was very positive. Oded provided amazing insight about things to consider for the venue, the day of schedule, and of course the meals served throughout the wedding. It never felt like just a catering service because it was clear that Oded and his team wanted to support us in having a successful and memorable wedding. We were impressed by every dish during the tasting (we chose the Asian-Mediterranean menu) and appreciated Jasmine catering helping us tailor the menu for our vegan, special diet and gluten free guests! We didn't have the budget to hire an event coordinator, and Oded was very helpful in providing DIY suggestions along the way. The day of the wedding proved that our choice in Jasmine Catering was absolutely right, when we heard that our guests were following the catering staff around to track down more delicious appetizers and when all of guests said that the dinner man was ONE OF THE BEST WEDDING MEALS they've ever had at weddings. Such high compliments, thanks to Oded and his team who offered us a chance to treat our guests well. Hands down highly recommended!!! read more

TL;DR: Oded was amazing. If you are getting married or hosting an event, and need a caterer, don't think twice. We got married at the Brazilian Room earlier this year. All the way through the process, Oded was incredibly responsive, extremely helpful, and attentive to all of the details. Oded was also some of the best value based on some of the quotes we got early on in the process. We care deeply about food, and wanted to make sure the food at our wedding was delicious. After doing a tasting with Oded's team, we were convinced that he'd be the best person to work with. The food at the wedding was terrific. We got multiple comments from guests about its deliciousness. Also, Oded's service team onsite was extremely friendly and kept everything running smoothly. They made sure to check on us and ensure we had all the food and drink we wanted as the bride and groom. We're glad we chose to work with Oded and would do so in a heartbeat again. read more

Oded and his team did amazing job for our wedding at the Brazilian Room. We had a tight timeline since we were only able to get the venue for the second half of the day, and he was so accommodating. We talked about floor plan setup in the weeks prior and everything was perfect when we arrived. Transitions between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing were seamless. All of the staff was super nice too. We got a lot of compliments on the food, and some people said it was the best wedding food they've had! Jasmine Catering went above and beyond for our wedding!! My husband and I are still at awe of how amazing our wedding was thanks to Jasmine Catering. Oded made things easy from the start. Incredibly quick with responses and great communication. We had one menu in mind in the beginning and he created an even better one for the same cost! He was also very flexible with us to the end. The service provided during the planning was above and beyond what we expected! Now for the important part, The food, and was it DELICIOUS! Our guests were so happy with their meals and could not stop raving about how good the appetizers and buffet was. The staff and head of staff for the wedding were so fun and helpful on the day. They seamlessly moved through set up and breakdown with no problem. Since my husband and I were so focused on our day it was really nice for the staff to be so gracious with us and check in on if we needed anything, even when we didn't know if we did. We can't recommend Jasmine Catering enough! We recently had a wedding at the Brazilian Room and Jasmine Catering was on the list of food vendors. We were going for a lower-budget wedding, and found that not only was Jasmine Catering affordable, but that the food and service was high quality! We met with Oded for a free tasting about 6-7 months before the wedding. He kindly wrote notes about our concerns (we wanted to have enough food for a family of big eaters!) and helped us to decide on our menu, including having self-serve guacamole and chips during cocktail hour. We went with the Mexican-style menu to reflect how my husband and I met and bonded over tacos and good Mexican food. On the day of, everything was perfect. The tables looked beautiful, the transition from ceremony to reception went smoothly, and the passed hors d'oeuvres and reception buffet were a hit. So many of our guests loved the food and raved about it! We also appreciated that his staff always checked in on us as the bride and groom to make sure that we were eating (we weren't because we were in so many conversations) and that we had a chance to try the alcohol we provided-- they came by often to serve us appetizers and they prepared our food for us. Oded and his staff are professional and great at what they do! We highly recommend Jasmine Catering for your event or wedding-- great service, great food, and affordably priced. read more

Oded is simply the best, and choosing Jasmine Catering for our wedding was probably the single best decision we made in our wedding planning process. We originally decided to go with Jasmine because of how many unique vegetarian options they offered, and the food was absolutely incredible -- hands down the best meal I've ever had at a wedding and better than most restaurant meals I've had recently. We had passed appetizers and a buffet-style dinner with pistachio-crusted salmon, vegetable orzo, salad, and eggplant tagine, all of which were cooked perfectly and were so delicious! We got non-stop compliments from our guests about the food and how friendly the catering staff were. The whole team were very helpful throughout the night. Oded himself is very kind and humble and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding went smoothly. We didn't have a wedding planner, so he patiently and quickly responded to lots of emails from me to answer questions about the venue and confirm details about the wedding timeline. He was also extremely flexible and accommodated lots of quirky DIY elements we included as part of our wedding day, and came early to unlock the venue himself because he knew I was anxious about getting everything set up in time. While the event was happening, we had an issue with our sound system which his staff helped us fix in just a few minutes. All in all, our wedding was perfect thanks to Oded and his team, and I don't think the day would have gone nearly as smoothly if we hadn't chosen Jasmine Catering! read more

We hired Jasmine Catering for our July 2022 wedding at Brazilian Room in Tilden Regional Park, and 10/10 recommend working with them. MANY of our guests came up and told us that this was the best wedding food they had ever had. We agree! We couldn't believe our luck when we were doing tastings and the most affordable option was also the most delicious. Then we just hoped that it would scale well from a 2-person tasting to a wedding dinner for 100+. It definitely did. Oded is the consummate professional, and everything was delicious and fresh-tasting. We selected the pomegranate chicken and eggplant terrine for entrees - many guests commented on how tender and juicy the chicken was, and we heard from several folks that don't usually like eggplant that even they loved the eggplant terrine. Furthermore, thanks to Oded's flexibility and ease of accommodation, there were several vegan/non-dairy/gluten-free people who thanked us for having such delicious options available to them that Oded provided portions of on request. On top of the delicious food, we were so grateful to have Jasmine Catering as our Brazilian Room point-of-contact. Having done many weddings at Brazilian Room, Oded is extremely knowledgeable on layout, alternative floor plans, amenities, timing/logistics, and anything else we threw at him. We reorganized several aspects of our wedding in order to be more COVID-conscious, and Oded was extremely flexible and responsive, and really a fantastic thought partner in what could work well. Additionally, all of his staff were extremely friendly and professional, and provided great service throughout the night. So glad we went with Jasmine Catering, for a seamless and perfect event! read more

We used Jasmine Catering for a wedding reception at the Brazilian Room and were very pleased! Everyone said the food was delicious, especially the chicken skewers and tuna tartare. We also had vegan stuffed mushrooms, almond crusted salmon, beautifully colorful orzo pasta, healthy vegan ratatouille and Mediterranean salad. Oded customized our menu to contain vegan options at our request. The staff was very polite and accommodating, especially Christine, who had a beautiful French accent (I think!) and I believe she was the lead. Oded also had very good input into the order of events which I needed help deciding upon and was accommodating to take the apple cider off my hands 2 days before because I would not have room in the car the day of. Oded was also very responsive via e-mail. It was good thing Oded was so familiar with the venue that he even knew about the sound system because we had some issues at first. The only thing I would suggest is to be sure to talk over the floor plan carefully with Oded if you have time, or do a very detailed e-mail explaining it. I did a drawing and I guess it wasn't entirely clear, which is my fault for not making sure. I had asked for an umbrella to cover the Guestbook table so the hostesses there (friends of ours) would not be in the direct sun for a long time. There were umbrellas on the patio as I had asked for yes, but none were providing shade to the Guestbook table. I was not present while guests were arriving (I was in a photo shoot off-site) so I did not see this and would not have known about it had not one of the Guestbook hostesses commented on it to me after the event was over. Other than that, all was perfection! Thank you Jasmine Catering and I would not hesitate use them again, especially for the Brazilian Room as they are super-experienced with this venue! Hope I get a chance to plan another event here and Jasmine Catering is still around to help us out! read more

We hired Oded and Jasmine Catering for our wedding at the Brazilian Room earlier this week. We booked Oded over a year in advance for our Monday morning wedding, and I'm so grateful to him for constantly answering my questions and being so helpful and responsive through an entire year. The staff was so kind and made sure to save my husband and I plates of everything including the appetizers which were stellar and we would have totally missed while taking pictures. Oded and his staff did an amazing job catering our wedding at the Brazilian Room in Tilden in May 2022. He is on the preferred list of caterers, and we got so lucky to work with him. Jasmine Catering was professional, cost-effective, and delicious. You cannot go wrong! Menu -- Oded offered an amazing range of options for our event. We had many vegetarian/vegan folks at our event and we had plenty of options for all of them. We literally talked about the jeweled rice pilaf and falafel for months after our initial tasting. All of our guests raved about the food. Setup + logistics -- Oded did a great job working with us and our coordinator on the layout and rentals for the event. It was great to be able to trust him to make all the right decisions for linens/cutlery/etc. The staff he hired for the event were so friendly and thoughtful, they made everything easy and worry-free day of. Communications -- Oded kept us well-informed of all the details he needed from us to make the event move smoothly. He was really great working with us initially and also working with our planner. Thanks for helping make the day one to remember; we're already scheming more ways to hire Jasmine Catering in the future! read more

Oded. We love Oded. I'm a wedding photographer as a profession, so I've worked and attended hundreds of weddings. Oded met with us for a taste test and was very humble and sweet. He shouldn't be so humble... the food was excellent. I'm not a vegetarian, but his eggplant dish was so awesome that I requested that as my dinner (as the groom). I stepped outside during the evening to get some air and chat with friends, and the first thing I heard was "the chicken was awesome", then "the eggplant was awesome", then "the salmon was awesome". I don't need to continue. His staff was great, smiled a lot, and I saw them making my guests smile at the bar they were running for us. Also, we had some specific setup/decoration requests, being a Christmas time wedding, and he just said "no problem, we'll take care of it." I'd hire him again if I needed it. Otherwise, he's the type of guy you just want to be friends with. If that happens, ask for the eggplant. read more

My husband and I work with Jasmine catering (Oded, the principle chef) for our wedding in March of 2016. I would 100% recommend these services to anyone looking for wedding or other event catering. We found Jasmine catering serendipitously, well I was getting my hair done and my hairdresser was telling me about her wedding. Because the company doesn't have as many reviews, they didn't come up during our extensive Yelp and WeddingWire research, but after hearing from her personally, we knew we should contact them. Thank goodness! We had contacted dozens of different catering companies and although it seemed each of them could have offered something great, the whole package wasn't there. Either they were too expensive, or they charged additional fees for services such as cake cutting, bottle opening fees, or weren't responsive, etc. When we began emailing with jasmine catering, Oded was responsive, not pushy, and very fairly priced (we paid approx $35 pp for 4 different passed appetizers, am amazing buffet course, and no additional fees for wine, kegs, or serving our own dessert). We were able to hold a tasting beforehand and that is what cemented the deal. Aside from Oded's great "tableside manner" (calm, collected, and with a "can-do" smile), the food was also phenomenal and flavorful. We emailed with Oded in the weeks coming up to the wedding and he was patient throughout dozens of emails, changes for requests of items, or other issues that we were worried about. He also worked very well with our venue, Piedmont Community Hall, and very gently but firmly took over the process of sending them our floor layout plans and taking the time to meet with us beforehand at the venue so we could ensure a smooth day. The day of the wedding was great, Oded and his staff worked well with our two coordinators to set up decorations and prepare for a beautiful ceremony site. He and his staff were professional both in demeanor and dress, and the food was phenomenal, there was also more than enough for our 175 guests. They cleaned up extremely well, helping ensure that we got our deposit from the venue back and overall they were such a pleasure to work with. We hope you consider Jasmine catering services and Oded's amazing work for your next celebration, we are so thankful we did! p.s. The food was presented beautifully and tastefully, I wish we had gotten pictures but it was gobbled too quickly :) read more

Quite possibly one of the single best decisions I made within the entire wedding planning process. From start to finish working with Oded and Jasmine Catering was a dream. Oded was kind, and overly accommodating. He was gracious with me when I had to do a both a venue and menu change and came up with a fabulous generous hors d'oeuvre offering for my wedding party of 90 people. His food is mind-blowingly delicious. I am not exaggerating here. Everything I have tasted that he has prepared from the initial food tasting to all of the hor d'oeuvres offered at my wedding were exquisitely prepared. Several guest have already told me how wonderful the food was. The two staff members that Oded had working my wedding were kind, professional, and a pleasure to have in attendance. Lastly, although it may not be in good taste, I feel compelled to mention price. When going through my initial wedding planning I contacted over 10 local Bay Area caterers. Oded happened to be the most affordable option out of everyone I contacted. After I tasted his food, I could not believe my luck. Honestly he could be charging a lot more for what he does because he is so darn good. So, in conclusion, I feel compelled to tell you all that this is your wedding/party caterer. Such an incredible experience working with Jasmine catering. If you are deciding between Caterers definitely put Jasmine catering on your "must visit" list. I guarantee you you will not be disappointed! read more

My wife and I asked Jasmine Catering to do our wedding on July 16th, 2018. My goodness, from start to finish everything went incredibly smooth. We first tasted their food at an open house at The Brazilian Room and their prices were beyond reasonable. So we decided to pick them. Very glad we did. Oded (chef/owner) was so easy to work with. They offered many prefixed menus but also allowed us to customize a special menu. We ended up doing 3 appetizers, salad, pasta, and a Italian sausage. It was delightful. They arrived at the venue promptly, had everything setup efficiently and we did not have to worry about anything at all. The food itself was delicious. My sister, who is a professional food writer, walked up to my wife at one point with one of the appetizers and said, "This is a perfectly cooked piece of chicken." Fantastic! Every appetizer was amazing, and the entree was awesome. There was also an awesome selection of linens/napkins available which made things so much easier. Overall, excellent experience! read more

Jasmine Catering was selected from the approved caterers list to cater a wedding to be held at Brazilian room at Tilden. It was the responsiveness of chef/founder, Oded, which impacted our choice. He responded to our emailed questions quickly, thoroughly, and with a kindness too rarely found. Jasmine was ultimately contracted for the 80 person wedding. Family arrived early with boxes of decorations. Some of the staff was also awaiting facility unlock and generously insisted on helping us unload. Staff continued to impress us looking for ways to help like directing other services, running down items to help in our decorating, and always serving with genuine good attitudes. The setup was crisp and neat. The bar staff was especially friendly helping our guests with any and all concerns. The 80 guests were served trays of appetizers right on time by smiling, attentive staff. At meal time, the buffet style served food was not only attractive to the eye, steaming hot, but completely flavorful and delicious. Cleanup was quiet and unobtrusive, again with staff patiently and generously offering help outside their scope of duties. I'd highly recommend Oded and his team to cater your event! read more

Oded and his staff prepared and passed appetizers, served three entrees, plus an orzo (pasta) salad and green salad for 115 guests at my daughter's wedding. They set up the table linens, set up the bar and served the beer and wine we provided. They also mixed a signature cocktail from ingredients we brought in. All happened smoothly, staff smiling through the evening. We got compliments all night about the delicious food. I don't know how they managed to cook salmon perfectly (tender, moist, not dry) for that many guests, but they did. They also accommodated our vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free guests. Each dish was distinctively seasoned, yet appealing to a broad spectrum of tastes. Almost makes me wish I had another daughter to plan a wedding for. No wait, not really. But if I did, I'd hire Jasmine Catering in a heartbeat. read more

Themed: Persian-American Where: Brazil Building - Tilden Park - Berkeley The Owner We found Oded Hilo, to be professional, yet unstuffy, with his relaxed approach in treating us and our guests with respect and providing a simple, yet beautifully sheik presentation. He was fun to talk to, and kind spirited, while always so patient. Of all the catering vendors that we met with, he was by far the best. This was not a hard decision to make. The Food He was willing to pick up a copy of a traditional Persian cookbook from us and study certain recipes, which are not easy but are used for such an occasion, and he repeated them beautifully. Meat dishes of beef kabab and chicken pomegranate stew were tender, and moist with delicious yogurt sauces and fresh herbs. The salad Shirazi was refreshing on such a hot day. But middle eastern cuisine and specialty foods are not his only main dishes, he also prepared a delicious pasta to accommodate children, and the pasta cravers that was a perfectly cooked penne, with fresh basil and tomato, not too oily, or salty, simply delicious. The Company & Staff They were the kind, professional and pleasant staff, some of whom have been working for Jasmine catering for some years so they had experience and chill attitude. Our guests were more than pleased, and we had the luxury them preparing some leftovers for us the bride and groom the next day, which was very much appreciated. In the End All of the months and time that it took to get this exhausting party underway, could not have been done if we had not worked with this caterer. Once it was all said and done, it could not have been more beautiful, and I am so grateful. Antonia Zelnick read more

Oded catered our wedding and he was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff set up the venue beautifully. There was one particular staff member who saw to it to make sure that the bride and groom ate. We appreciate her! The only reason I removed a star is that leading up to the event, we didn't seem particularly important to the company. We received a very cursory "tasting" in which we had to come to an open house and only tasted two dishes, which contained mushrooms despite us requesting no mushrooms. This was not an issue at the wedding itself, thankfully! Overall, though, I would absolutely recommend this company for catering! read more

Wow, these people must have bribed Yelp to remove my bad review. I work at UC Berkeley and this is by far the most unprofessional presentation of catered food I have ever suffered the embarrassment of ordering. I was the one who posted the picture of the cake, which looks like it was prepared by a 5 year old. The food arrived in a very ghetto packaging (cheap, ugly aluminum bins, think "BBQ presentation"), tasted quite bad, some items like their pizza were still raw, and as disgraceful as the cake looked, even worse was the taste and that it crumbled and disintegrated when cut. I would never, ever recommend this place. If the owners erase my review, I will just post again, because I wish I had known this before placing my order and looking like a fool in front of our whole department. I would recommend this company to cater your 3 year-old's lost-tooth party, but nothing more formal than that. read more
