    Great Denver Omlette

Food was good and staff was amazing! Place is very tired and bathrooms a bit scary ( I guess it beats going out back to a slit trench?). I sure hope this place gets better in those areas as the Apple Peddler was, back in the day, a string of pretty well run restaurants and it's sad to see what is going on with yet so much potential.

Small but very good. Generous amount of tender and flavorful roast beef. French Dip.

I feel bad for this place and I wish I could give it more than 2 stars, only because the people that work there seem good and considering the economy in this tiny, isolated town, where will they work when this restaurant closes; which it surely will in no time at all. The food was fine, I ordered a French dip and fries and my friend ordered the Asian chicken salad. Nothing was wrong except the egg that she was served with her salad was cooked to death. I'd say it was a good 25 minute egg. Gawd. The coffee was good. However, the restaurant is literally falling apart, there is no air conditioning and it's hands down the filthiest restaurant I've ever been in. If they would only give it a deep cleaning more people may come in which might give them enough money to replace the broken windows, stained ceiling tiles, air conditioner and whatever else is wrong. Honestly, I'd give this restaurant 2 months, maybe less. We're getting into the hot season and they don't have air conditioning. What a shame because this town needs this restaurant and it needs it in good working order.

Great food, great service and a nice menu, but the restrooms are filthy. Even so, I'll stop in next time I'm in Burns.

Normal roadside eatery, good breakfast anytime, reminds me of a denny's or ihop. Affordable prices, good parking for RV or trailer.

Burns,OR May 2026…read more We came on a Wednesday night and there were only three other tables that were occupied. At 6:15 all the tables are filled. The restaurant is very clean. The floors, the food, the tables, the chairs. I am very impressed. My husband and I ordered a half chicken salad to share and we also split the chicken Alfredo. The Chicken salad was large. I found it hard to believe it was only a half portion. The salad came with a very large portion of shredded torn, hot chicken. The lettuce was Romaine and it had diced tomatoes with shredded cheese slices of cucumbers, large slices of red onion, and croutons. It was supposed to come with a sliced egg, but there was none on the salad. The chicken Alfredo was a very large portion. There was more chicken on the salad then in the chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce tasted smoky. I swear there was a half a pound of pasta in that dish. Like all the other portions of food it is very large. They serve fresh bread with butter to the table. The bread is delicious. The waiter said they make it here. We were offered dessert but we chose you to decline. They have a display case of three different kinds of pies, bars, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and more. My only complaint is that the booths are so far from the table. I had to eat at the end of my bench. But I love that the backs of the booths are so very tall. You can't see your neighbor behind you. I was finished eating and pushed my plate away. My husband was still eating his food. The waiter came up to see if we needed anything else. As we were talking to him, an older woman came by interrupted our conversation with the waiter and started to take all of our plates. My husband was not finished eating, but since she piled the plates on top of each other, we were now done. Perhaps in the future, she should ask if we are finished before removing them from the table. The staff is friendly. The food is ginormous and delicious. This is definitely a place if I were passing through I would stop and eat again. I give this restaurant 4.7 stars.

We were seated and it was indicated that it might take our server a little bit to get to us. Honestly, we didn't wait any longer than a typical restaurant that wasn't busy. All good. With its supper club vibe, the entrees include a shrimp cocktail, soup or salad, bread, and choice of potatoes. They do not scrimp on portions. Even my wine choice was a healthy pour. The room was decorated with lots hangings that felt homey and welcoming. I chose the pork chop as my entree. It was served nice and hot and cooked perfectly. It was a thicker, bone in cut, served with cinnamon apples on top. Very good. Salad was huge, shrimp cocktail was served in a small stemmed dish with a dollop of cocktail sauce on top. Garlic mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy. Our server was great. We enjoyed this stop.

I started my day with the Eggs Benedict (English muffin, two poached eggs, and ham covered in hollandaise sauce and served with hash browns, $10.50). I don't usually order eggs benedict but on this particular rainy morning in John Day it was just what I needed. It filled me up for my entire 6 mile hike in the cold and snow. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was very fresh, definitely made that morning. I thought my English muffin was a little overheated, it was chewy in the edges but still edible. My hash browns could have used a couple more minutes on the grill but again, good enough to eat! My husband kept it simple by ordering f the Classic (two eggs cooked any style, served with choice of bacon, sausage, polish or turkey sausage, hash browns and toast, $11.00). He enjoyed his breakfast as well. Eggs were a little overcooked but nothing a little maple syrup couldn't fix! I loved the fact that he got 4 sausage links instead of the usual two that most cafes I've been to serve. Definitely a great value! My favorite thing about this little establishments is the vibe between the service and the regular patrons. Call me a creep, but I love to people watch and listen about what others are talking about. You can tell nearly everyone coming in is a regular by the conversations. I think that even though all these cafes are very similar, they all have their own personality that differentiates them from one another, and I'm totally here for it.
