Squeeze-In is your typical, small town cafe with with a menu identical to what you'd expect in a restaurant like this. We arrived just after opening at 7:00am Saturday morning. I started my day with the Eggs Benedict (English muffin, two poached eggs, and ham covered in hollandaise sauce and served with hash browns, $10.50). I don't usually order eggs benedict but on this particular rainy morning in John Day it was just what I needed. It filled me up for my entire 6 mile hike in the cold and snow. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise was very fresh, definitely made that morning. I thought my English muffin was a little overheated, it was chewy in the edges but still edible. My hash browns could have used a couple more minutes on the grill but again, good enough to eat! My husband kept it simple by ordering f the Classic (two eggs cooked any style, served with choice of bacon, sausage, polish or turkey sausage, hash browns and toast, $11.00). He enjoyed his breakfast as well. Eggs were a little overcooked but nothing a little maple syrup couldn't fix! I loved the fact that he got 4 sausage links instead of the usual two that most cafes I've been to serve. Definitely a great value! My favorite thing about this little establishments is the vibe between the service and the regular patrons. Call me a creep, but I love to people watch and listen about what others are talking about. You can tell nearly everyone coming in is a regular by the conversations. I think that even though all these cafes are very similar, they all have their own personality that differentiates them from one another, and I'm totally here for it.

The wife was really craving waffles so we decided to add a breakfast stop into our crunched morning before heading out of town. The seating was seat yourself and the waitress was fairly prompt to our table. The food was mediocre. The biggest disappointment was you could tell the timing on the food was off because aside from the chicken fried steak and the omelette the rest of the food was cold. It is an okay place but I would next time likely try another place in town.

Looks like the place where locals go. Better than average burgers, very good coffee, excellent service even when busy.

The caramel macchiato was my favorite coffee. Staff was friendly. Nice shop with plenty seats to read in and enjoy your meal. Enjoyed visiting during my stay in this little town.

We were passing through town looking for a good lunch spot…read more After looking on Yelp, we found this place and hit the "directions" button. When we arrived there were no markings or signage on the exterior of the building, which made it a little hard to find or to be sure that we were in the right place. We decided to investigate anyway. Sure enough, it was there. The exterior and interior of the building were very well done. Inside was cute, clean, with a cozy atmosphere. Also, the temperature was perfect. We approached the counter where you order and briefly looked over the menus before settling on our order and putting our menus down. It was an uncomfortable 3 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the tatted gentleman behind the counter. Seemingly disinterested, he took our orders. We then found a nice table and sat down. After a reasonable amount of time our food was brought out. The Philly and chips (according to my companion) were great. The Mediterranean salad (according to my companion) was greatly overdressed, but other than that was crisp and fresh. My Korean wrap was good, however it was light on meat and packed full of rice, which I don't care for. Also rice was not mentioned in the ingredients list on the menu. If it were, I would have not ordered that item. In addition to that, the wrap was saturated with creamy siracha sauce. Which was a shame because other than that, the mentioned ingredients seemed to have good flavor potential. We ate our meals, and before leaving I stacked our plates and tiddied up our table. A female employee noticed this and made a kind remark, thanking me for doing this. It was a pleasant exchange and I was appreciative to have her positivity before we left. I wanted to love this place. and I think with a few tweaks, this place could really rock it.

Man, how to review this place?…read more First of all, I want to give a disclaimer. I'm not a local. We stopped for dinner here when we were driving through Baker City and had stopped for the night. We did a Google search for a place in Baker City that was kid friendly. And eagle Cap grill is one of the options that came up. This is definitely a local establishment. If you're looking for an option that isn't a chain restaurant. We had a good time at the eagle Cap grill. However, I wouldn't say it's exactly kid friendly. Don't get me wrong, everybody was super sweet with our kids, but there aren't any extra accommodations for small children, if that makes sense. Like some breweries have outdoor play areas, or there's room to run around, or they have like kids menus with crayons, etc. The food that we got at eagle Cap grill was good, although I wouldn't say that it was great. It was about what I would expect from a traditional American diner. Also, the layout of the interior of the restaurant is very cramped. I appreciate that they were full, and good for them by the way, but I was basically eating dinner with the table next to me while I was eating dinner with my family. They're also wasn't any room to move around inside the restaurant. So there was one point where my wife got up to take one of my daughters to the bathroom, and it ended up being an awkward maneuver to do so. The service was excellent, everyone was friendly. Absolutely no complaints there. Honestly, the biggest thing that brings this down to a four-star review, was the price. Look, I understand times are hard, I understand restaurant margins are super slim, however, I spent over $50 for two entrees. We didn't get any food for my kids, don't worry they ate from my wife's and my meals, and it still cost over $50. And that was before tip. So again, I'm willing to pay a little bit extra to eat at a local establishment, I'm willing to pay a little bit extra for food that isn't mass produced, but it can't be twice as expensive, can it? Anyway, we really did like this place. And would definitely come back if we were going back through Baker city.
