I think it's the all American burger?
Kelly F.

Parking situation is terrible. Tiny lot out back or risk being towed in street. Great selections of beers, and ciders. My husband got a sour that was just okay, I got the down east peach mango. It was on the sweet side domino my had one. Great, friendly service. The chicken tenders were a big win. Crispy, real chicken tenders, house made sauces on the side. No frozen crap. I've had a dozen people brag about the burger. It was good but not the best. The best burgers and house cute fries can be found at boundary in Pawtucket. The Abbies didn't even compare. Good old school music playing. Overall cool atmosphere and decent food for a little divey bar in Prov. Prices were reasonable.

Quality drinks list Friendly and knowledgeable staff A really good hang Can't believe I haven't remarked on The Abbey before. This is a neighborhood bar done well, with a healthy serving of considered beer listings, and tasty food on top. TVs are definitely showing games, music is piped in at a decent volume over top, but lively conversation all around rules your senses here. A full bar, numerous interesting taps, and ample bottle selection make this a great spot - they don't act like it overtly, but you're in good beer hands here. The busy kitchen turns out a tasty burger and other fixin's to accompany your beverage. And yet really, you're here to socialize, whether with the crowd you rolled up with or with the other patrons at the bar itself who are plenty eager to interact. Drop on by and enjoy!

The food was fabulous. Four of went there to watch the World Cup. Inviting atmosphere, esp from the owner, for locals and first-timers like us. Fries, burgers, and wraps were excellent; there was a wide selection of food ( more than you think). Big beer selection and whiskey! Plenty of TVs to watch the Sox, Celts, or Pats! There is limited parking, so be careful.

Huge fan! This place is not far from where my parents house is. Haven't grown up in this neighborhood. I'm shocked that I never even discovered this place until my friend tried to take me to it a few months ago and we couldn't get food because the kitchen was closed. Anyway, I found myself back here because I was hungry and I needed a place close by so I ended up here. I actually like coming in the late afternoon so you can avoid the college crowd. The bartender, I couldn't catch his name but he has a baseball hat and longish hair was super chill and super friendly. Totally love that guy. Very friendly vibe and he set the tone for the place. Ended up getting Blueberry beer which was excellent and not overly fruity The food is on point Pulled pork sandwich which came with coleslaw as my side and it was loaded with tater tots. I actually thought the portion was very generous, very filling and it was very tasty. Irish red ale which was quite good Sour ale which was also excellent. Almost had a raspberry taste to it. Didn't get to try the burgers. I think I would in future. Bathroom is a little tight but it's clean. I really like the ambiance of the place. Parking is on the street and in the neighborhood. If you don't like the under 21 crowd, definitely come in the afternoon. It has more of a neighborhoodb vibe and the patrons are very friendly. Overall, if you're in the area I definitely recommend this place. When I visit my folks I will be back for sure.

I had been here two years ago and thought it was great, but I forgot the name and never came back. I had a friend suggest getting drinks here after work when it dawned on me that this is the place I had forgotten!! They got a decent tap list, extensive menu with awesome burger options, and friendly staff at The Abbey. I would recommend going in the summer before the Friars are back in town so you don't have to deal with the crowds. I'm glad I was able to come back after a long drought!

A local joint that is also a hang og for students. Not a spot for intimate conversations but certainly a great spot for a boisterous happy hout with friends. The burgers ate out of this world but I was mildly disappointed that my request to skip the special sauce was ignored. I applaud the gals managing the room. There is a whole lot of stuff going on!

Fried Oreos.. so so so crispy and delicious

What a great spot and it's two miles from Us ! We went with friends and enjoyed our time there. We all had burgers and they were so juicy ! I had the buffalo one and that' sauce was killer. I had home made chips for a side and they were so crispy. If you are a beer lover they have 92 beers ! So many craft beers it's amazing. Our server was wonderful and attentive. Kept our drinks full and checked in on us often. We are a little older than most folks in there , it's def a younger crowd but that would not deter us from going there again. Highly recommend.

The crazy thing is I've driven by here probably 100 times in 10 years (I work in the vicinity) and have never stopped in because I have always presumed It was a Providence college hang out and I'm in my 50s. Came in tonight with some friends who aren't from Providence proper but had heard of it. I said "Hell that's only 5 minutes away". It's across the street from LaSalle Bakey on Admiral St. As soon as I walked in, I knew this was my kind of place - lots of dark wood, multiple beers on tap and a fridge full of canned & bottled beer. My fellow diners got an order of the onion rings, which looked like deep-fried donuts. I opted with the chicken wings with Jack's sauce (I think it was a sweet Bourbon sauce). Our waitress Nicole was knowledgeable, affable and insanely smart. They had a Kolsch on tap (which is pretty rare around here) and the atmosphere was completely laid back. I would be all in on a full 5 star rating for the Abbey if not for the persistent and annoying presence of those pesky bar flies present both in the dining area and in the rest rooms. But apart from that, the food for our table was prepared as requested, fully cooked and delicious. I will be frequenting the Abbey again, mostly because I despise the choices on Mineral Spring Ave

Absolutely delicious burger, one of the best in town! The pretzel roll on the Highwayman burger was spectacular. Would definitely go back again.

Always a good time when coming here. It's a nostalgic dive bar with a great collection of music. And def start with an order of Chicken Wings - the 3 amigos sauce is the perfect blend- Buffalo- BBQ- Honey Mustard- not too sweet and not too hot the perfect taste. The burgers - what!!!! You can't go wrong. I had a RoadHouse Burger and yesss the traditional has not tasted much better! The bun was toasted perfectly- the burger tasty and cooked great and the sauces are all delicious. What can I say- another good dinner here backed by the awesome service. I will be back!!

The Highwayman. Prepare to be shaken down.

This snug, humble neighborhood pub not only offers the best burgers in town, but I'm told at one point was voted best burger spot in America in a USA Today article. My buddy and I couldn't decide between the Highwayman (beef patty, ham and egg, bbq sauce) or the Couch Potato (bbq pork, crumbled blue cheese, sautéed onion). So we ordered both and traded halves. That proved to be the right menu hack. Both were extraordinary sandwiches, each bite a perfectly balanced flavor explosion. I paired mine with a Down East blue slushee cider. Only complaint were the fries - a bit mushy and fairly meh flavor-wise. But the burgers more than compensated. Service was quick and friendly, despite a packed house. Come early, come hungry. 5* = incredible (rare) 4* = very good/ strong desire to return 3* = generally good experience 2* = poor/ no desire to return 1* = a particularly awful experience

Everything I've had has been great. Any time I'm in town for work, this is my lunch spot. Everyone I've met that works there is great.

Ask the Community - The Abbey

Does this turn into a college bar at night? Being so close to PC I would imagine it is overrun by college kids during the school year? If not is it a good place to bring my wife?

It really depends on the time of year and when you go. I think it would be more crowded over the weekend with college kids and locals. But there lunch crowd and dinner crowd seem very mild during the week.

They have daily specials like Taco Tuesday and Wing Wednesday. Plenty of good beers on tap besides the full bar and good coffee. The staff have always been very friendly and the food good quality. It's pub style food. Reuben, chicken wrap, salad, fajitas, burgers and so on. I've tried several of their menu items now and they are all good quality and tasty. They have a large tent set up on the outdoor patio that is used year round. It doubles the available dining space. Plenty of TV's line the wall behind the bar. Single men's and ladies' rooms. Always clean in there, but they switched out the paper towel dispenser for a hand dryer which makes it hot as a sauna. So that's fun. On street parking is free. Even during busy times we haven't had to park very far away. Remember to drive the posted speed limit - Pawtucket has speed cameras every where! There is a step up into the pub but the walk way from the sidewalk is a flat incline.
