We ended up here after a fancy dinner on the hill. What a find! This is one of the cutest bars in Providence. It is so hip and cool and a lot of fun! The drinks were great and i loved how some came in a flamingo. It felt like a bar you would find somewhere warm---like on a vacation. It was pretty, yet badass. I also loved that it had games. This place is a staple to Federal Hill. Great food, music, and atmosphere. The service is also great, their drinks are amazing. I would recommend the Adult Capri Sun or the Pink Flaming. Came here before a show at the Wang and the bouncers were exceptionally nice. there was no hostess but the bouncers helped us find a place to sit and brought an extra chair to accommodate us. Service was good and fast, the cocktails weren't too sweet and the appetizers were good sizes and delicious. Cool decor and good vibes for a place to stop by before a show in the area! This place is plays decent music but is more of a scene for people who are in college or those who just graduated. They have beer pong they the fill with water cups and you can play freely. A nice big connect four set and a few other games as well. I enjoyed an adult Capri sun as a special drink but the drinks were pricy for a drive bar. At most the adult Capri sun should have been 8 and the old fashioned 9 or 10 two drinks came to $22. Overall if I was back in Providence this wouldn't be my first stop. read more

This place was unexpectedly awesome! I don't expect much from bars, but this one has super cool vibes. They play great music and a variety at that - from rock to the latest rap hits. They also have games on the tables that are just available to play. I'm not sure if that's a thing with bars lately? It definitely adds some fun to a night out though. We arrived between 12-1230 on a Friday and it was crowded (not to the point where you couldn't move though) so I'm guessing this is a popular bar. Everyone seemed to know everyone. I never have huge expectations when it comes to a bar, but I would come back here. read more

I'm a rocker girl living in a hipster world. So when I stumbled across Rock & Rye Friday night I couldn't have been more pleased. A group of 10 of us came out for a girlfriends birthday. They have board games, card games, a Captain America arcade game, even beirut set up. They play good music which is hard to find on the Hill. Kerry was our bartender, a bad ass chick with a stylin' hairdo. She was quick, witty and all around cool. Drink prices were very reasonable. They have jello shots, and vodka gummy bears! Heck yeah. They have security which I thought was odd for such a small place but came in handy when a group of 45 year old men were being "disrespectful" toward my lady friends. I was reassured by the owner that this wasn't a regular problem, that he wants his customers to feel safe and have a good time. It's a great mingling bar, we chatted with a few different groups there. read more

absolute TERRIBLE staff. I went to the bathroom and knocked, and the server came out a few minutes later rudely screaming at me for bothering her while she was in the bathroom. I am shocked that the staff would act this way simply for needing to use the restroom. I am never returning and will let everyone I know in Providence NOT to ever come to this bar. I like to go out, but you can't go nuts every night - well I guess you can, but I don't like to. Rock & Rye is the perfect in between low key brew night and a rowdy bar or a club, which is great when you can't decide on a location in a group text. Rock & Rye is on Federal Hill, across from Bank of America (if you hit the fountain you have gone too far), so parking is a pain in the arse...but ever since Providence put stupid parking meters all over the city, parking anywhere is now an unnecessary, infuriating task so why not here. The ambiance of this place is nice. Low, red lighting, nice décor, good music, and board games (including a giant Jenga). Some people play at their tables, other don't. It's available but not at all forced on you. Sometimes it's a fun thing to do in groups, or just something to keep you busy. You can dance, and people do late at night but they don't have a dance floor. Bartenders are fast and wicked nice. Even when it's busy they haul ass and get to you pretty quickly. There is some seating and I have never had a problem grabbing a table. It's one of my go to's. We usually go and get a Slice across the street at Sicilia's afterwards (open 'till 2). read more

I go here every couple months and always wonder why I go back. Dark and dingy, tends to attract scumbags. Wouldn't have as big a problem since I know what to expect, but then they charge $7 for flat beer which is insane since nice bars downtown charge less. Won't deny that it's fun to go with group but there's better options for sure. read more

This bar is always a fun time. The manager there is amazing and the staff is all friendly and efficient. Rock & Rye has always been one of my favorite bars, so I would have gave this bar 5 stars, however, the only gripe I have is with the owner. He came over at one point because we had a problem with a bill and he completely lost his temper and became angry and walked away without finishing the conversation. Very strange way for an owner of a business to have acted. Luckily this is the first time I have ever actually seen the owner actually at the bar. The manager quickly came over and told us our concern with our bill was justified and took care of it very professionally. read more

Let me preface by saying I felt way too old to be here! My husband and I are 29 and 31 and while there were people older and younger this definitely feels like a place college kids would enjoy. But every once in a while we need a night out a divey place were we can drink jack and cokes get stupid drunk. So if that's your M.O, Rock & Rye is your spot. They have two beer pong tables in the center of the bar, which sounds fun. And it was at first. However once the bar started filling up it got a little annoying every time we'd have to reach under someone to get an astray ball (see, old).
