When my computer crashed I decided to take it to this new local shop. Lance checked out my computer and, after hearing what he had to say, I decided to leave it in his knowledgeable hands. It turned out my hard drive died along with some other issues. Lance called me almost daily to give me an update on the progress of my computer. It took a bit longer than we anticipated as he had to get the system recovery disks from HP. When I got my computer back I found it to be working much better than before and was incredibly impressed with the personable service and very fair price I paid. I can't say enough about this place. Thought my old desktop was a goner, but now it's better than new. When I took it in, Lance asked key questions that led him to a smart hypothesis. I just talked with Lance about having my eight year old Imac computer updated if possible. He explained that yes, he could charge me to try to get it updated, but it would be better if I purchased a new computer as opposed to paying for an update that would only give me somewhat better service for a limited time. My computer stopped recognizing WiFi. I called and Lance tried to help me out over the phone by reinstalling a driver. When that didn't work I took my computer in. He probably spent 20 minutes on checking it out when I was there. He couldn't find an immediate fix so I left it with him. A few hours later got a call that it needed a new card and was fixed. A little over $60 total - now that's what I call a bargain. It's running better than ever so I'm wondering if he fixed something else that was broken! Fast and friendly service. I wanted to give a local small business a chance and had read decent reviews, BUT was I wrong. Walking into the cluttered, messy working environment should have been a red flag but I continued. I brought my daughters computer in for a simple repair of the case pulling apart. Two months later I finally got the computer back! I had to stop by frequently just to get an update on what was going on. Lance didn't even have the respect to call me and inform me of the accident of breaking an internal component during repair. Then to catch him ordering the incorrect part during one of my weekly visits. I asked him over and over to call me about repair progress and he never would. In getting a copy of the original work order that was completed, express service was selected by him when I had never asked for such. We were stuck waiting for his lack of response to make a wrong right. This are just a few words of the horrible experience we had. read more

In a time when businesses seem to have forgotten what they need to survive customers, this is one business that hasn't. Lance fixed and advised me of what he was gonna have to do and the cost up front. He then followed up with me during the process. And lastly he did extra tweeting, cleaning and fine tuning at no extra charge because it needed to be done and he knew it would benefit me. My MacBook fell on cement and destroyed my hard drive. I drive by That Bytes at least 4-5 times a day so I thought I'd give this shop a try before heading out to a dreaded Apple Store in the mall. What a great decision that was! The owner (can't remember his name) was goofy and eager to help. Turns out my MacBook had damage of "catastrophic proportions" and needed not just a new battery but also a new drive. $250, 3 days and with the help of my external drive, I was up running without missing a single file. I have driven by That Bytes tons of times, so when I was having computer issues I decided to try them. I am very illiterate when it comes to computers. I took my old computer in when I was having issues and they fixed it quickly and at a fair price. I bought a new computer and had to take it in twice. Both times I just walked in, no appointment and they took a look at it right away. Both times it was something super simple and they had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. I called That Bytes Computer Repair in a panic as my computer detected some malware then completely locked me out. It was a Friday afternoon and I really needed the computer for the weekend. I dropped off my computer and two hours later, he had fixed the problem. I was able to pick my computer back up before the close of business Friday night and everything was good as new. Based on the reviews I read on this site, I chose to take my laptop to these guys 3 weeks ago to see if they could rescue my laptop from the damage my nephew had done to it when he decided to open it up to see how it looked inside. Both Lance and Matt (i think that's his name) were very nice and helpful during the first couple of days after i dropped my laptop off at their business, they even let me use one of their laptops while they worked on mine. I was told that it would take a couple of days for them to fully determine the extent of the damage to my laptop and then they would be able to tell me if it could be repaired and approximately how much it would cost. I dropped my laptop off on 7/8/15 and as of today I have yet to hear back from them despite calling and emailing them about it. I could've chosen a larger, more commercial repair business but I ended up choosing That Bytes in the hopes that they would provided quicker and more courteous service and I am extremely disappointed that it was not the case so I will take my business elsewhere. read more

SUPER helpful! I will go here for my computer repairs/updates. I called this business due to the great yelp reviews. (Thank you, reviewers!) I called to get info about updating my old Mac for my teenager. I was fully expecting a push for expensive updates if they were available since they are in the business of repairs, not new Mac sales. However, Lance spent a full 15 minutes answering all of my (less than knowledgeable) questions and giving me a variety of solutions based on the anticipated needs and my finances. The options available all seemed reasonably priced. Now I will not hesitate to go to this place for repairs of any of our computers. I have a Logitech Transporter. From reading blogs I had a vague idea what could be wrong. I took it over to That Bytes and they fiddled with it for a while to eliminate all the easy problems. Originally they reluctantly declined to work on it and I got that. There is hardly any literature on it and parts are almost impossible to find. He saw my disappointment and changed his mind saying that he liked a challenge. In only a few days he had zeroed in on the problem and found a replacement part from some obscure parts place in England. The little 2 sq. in. power board was quickly replaced and now I have a working transporter instead of an EBAY for sale (non-working for parts only) item. I've taken laptops there 3 times. Once was good, once was so so, and the last times was, well it will be the last time. They were supposed to have the laptop for just a few days and retrieve my data from it. I never heard back from them. I called and was told the tech was out of town and I would get a call the next day. No call. I called back and was told I must have misunderstood and the tech was to be back in a couple of days and would call me. No call. I called back again and finally talked to Matt. He said how hard they were working and that it would just take more time. He didn't make much sense. I picked it up today and got nothing. It was there about a month. read more

I received outstanding service from Lance at 'That Bytes Computer Repair' on 12/09/19. Over the weekend my computer stopped powering up. I took it to Geek Squad who were unable to help after 20 minutes diagnosis and a suggestion that I pay $89 (non-refundable) to have the machine shipped to their 'specialists' who would investigate further and provide a quote to fix (likely to be about the cost of a new laptop according to the guy). So I googled and found 'That Bytes' and they were absolutely wonderful. Lance is a very funny guy and I appreciated his sense of humor at a time when losing my laptop and all its contents would have been devastating. He is obviously used to dealing with worried customers and adept and putting them at ease. That same day he had diagnosed the issue and fully resolved it (it was an internal not main battery issue) and for under $100 gave me back my fully working laptop (which is now fully backed up too). I cannot thank Lance enough for his wonderful customer service, technical expertise, and willingness to go the extra mile to resolve the issue in a calm and humorous way. GO HERE FIRST!!! My computer spontaneously died and my first stop was the Geek Squad...mistake. They told me it was the mother board and it would be more than the cost of a new computer to replace. When I asked if it was possible to retrieve my data from the computer, they said it wasn't something they could do there, but they had a recommendation. I went to the recommendation...mistake. I was told it would be a minimum of $400 dollars to retrieve the data, and then I would still have to buy a new computer. I left. I remembered passing That Bytes on the way home and decided to stop in there...great choice!! Lance was amazing. He diagnosed the problem, got a new motherboard, and fixed my computer better than new all for well under the cost of a new computer or data retrieval.
