Was greeted by the hostess complaining she needed help to clear a table for two. After seated we waited 10 mins just for someone to ask if we'd been helped. Ordered 3 meat bbq platter. Sausage was cold, brisket was dried up and the ribs were cold. Slow service. Horrible food. I won't ever go back! read more

Okay, I will start this off by saying that Tabitha took care of us during our visit and she could not have been more wonderful and accommodating. She totally saved this review score. However, we do still have our feelings about the way things are being ran over there. For starters, they refused to put two tables together for our party. Not really a big deal, we made it work. But secondly, we then noticed that they provided us with a "Large Party" menu that was extremely limited and did not showcase many of the items we researched and ultimately came to THAT for -- with no exceptions. Super bummed about that. The wings (and the beer) however were delicious. We will be back, with a smaller crowd so we can experience THAT in its entirety. But take this as a heads up if you are visiting with a party of 12 or more so there's no surprises. read more

We had been here about 5-6 years ago, and said we'd never go back. However, everyone deserves a second chance, so we went around 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. We had a great experience with Kelsey at the bar. She was friendly, smiled and provided great overall service. Food was excellent, especially loved the French fries made from real potatoes. Had an opportunity to interact with Tamara and she was as pleasant and friendly as could be! Behind the bar there was one guy with a long pony tail that seemed more interested in getting the regulars to purchase scratcher/football items and even went to so far as to interrupt Kelsey while she was talking with us to try and get her to buy the last spot. Never gave us the time of day or acknowledged that we were there. Although it was somewhat rude of him to do so, it won't stop us from coming back - thanks to Kelsey's outstanding service!! read more

Wonderful place! We came randomly since we were in the area just driving by. We came on an open mic night, and were greeted by so many friendly locals, and we all felt like we were part of the town! The food was great! And the service was wonderful as well, despite the busy night. We felt like we were in one of those tiny small towns in a Hallmark movie, where everyone's so warm & welcoming. If we're ever in Pine, we will for sure be coming back to That Brewery & Pub! read more

Stopped by this place with a group of six. We were impressed with the service as it was prompt friendly and engaging. The food was excellent as well. Brisket sandwich was delicious and was well cooked. Wings were a good size and yummy. Being at a brewery we if course had to sample the beer. A decent variety of beers on tap and in bottle. The vibe was welcoming and didn't sense any of the negative comments mentioned in previous reviews. Worth stopping through it you are in the area. read more

We visited friends in Strawberry about a month ago and they took us to THAT Brewery for dinner on Friday, 10/27/23. The food is truly delicious at THAT Brewery & Pub. We were so impressed, we decided to take home some of their Elk/Beef chile. I ordered TWO bowls of the chile and when the girl, Courtney, brought out the order, it looked like a "cup" of chile. So I said, Oh, I ordered two "bowls" not cups. She said "Yep, this is what we have." Then I asked again, "This is TWO BOWLS of chile, that is what you are saying?" I Thought she heard me wrong, but she again told me that is what it is. So, I thought well maybe there is more than it looks like, so I left a bit frustrated. When we got back to our friends home, I put BOTH orders into a measuring cup and it was just under 8 OUNCES!! I was SO angry and could not believe I paid $17 for that, when it was supposed to be TWO BOWLS!! I was curious how many ounces were actually supposed to be in their "Elk & Beef Chile bowl," so I called the restaurant and I was told "the cup is 8 oz and the bowl is twice that, 16 oz." The photos show the amount that was in the "coffee cups" she put the chile in, when I took off the tin foil of what Courtney gave me. Definitely NOT 32 oz of the chile, which is what the amount should have been for TWO "bowls" of the Elk & Beef Chile. Like I said, the food is REALLY good, but just watch out if you get an order of the chile to go. Especially from Courtney. She didn't seem in the best of moods anyway and treated me like, well, I was just in the way and didn't really matter, because I mentioned to her we were taking the chile back to Phoenix. Oh well, perhaps she was having a bad day. Not that it is OK to take it out on the customers, but I will give her that. read more

Great spot to stop into when near Payson and Pine. Waitress was great. Very friendly. Sat in the bar and see popular by locals which is a good sign when going to new place. Excellent service. Appetizers were great, food came out hot and fast. Beer options are also solid, and this is the best spot for to-go beer. Portion sizes are fair, and the Ultimate bacon Grilled Cheese was fantastic. Prime rib was OK, but that sandwich (Arizona Dip) was $20+. Would do a burger instead next time. Great spot in Pine. Great food off the beaten path. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating complete with heaters and a fire pit. The menu all looked great and we had a hard time deciding what to eat. The nachos were awesome - had their elk chili on it :). Was a great app for 4 people. I got the smoked brat & loved it. Was impressed with the smoke ring when I took a bite. Only bummer was that if you choose carrots/celery as your side, they charge $0.45 for the ranch. And our waitress didn't seem happy to be taking care of us - couldn't split our checks up, but definitely made us feel like it was more because she didn't want to instead of that she really couldn't. Whatever. Maybe she was having a bad day. I would still drop by here anytime because the food was great. read more

Flew into Phoenix from Dallas, TX to visit family in Pine... Looking for good food an brew. Alright, let's try out That Brewery & Pub. We were greeted and sat quickly for a Saturday night. Let's try the outdoor seating as it was a cool breeze night. Ordered the Pilsner and it was a very good choice. Artichoke appetizer for the table was a good first choice. Let's try the beef dip....dang good! PS: order horseradish...they have straight up and blended! Please be careful as it could be some if the best! Tater tots for a side...sure! read more

Came in for lunch during our trip and quickly got seated in the bar though we were told several times that they were short-staffed. We were patient though and ordered beers, water, and our food. The menu looked simple but when the food came out, to my surprise it was fantastic. I got the smoked bbq chicken salad and coleslaw and they were out of this world good. My friend didn't really care for the sandwich he got but said it wasn't terrible. When it comes to the beer, they weren't anything special but when compared to the water that was served, the beer tasted like the nectar of the gods. The water was so bad, we both had a sip and couldn't drink anymore. It actually had me, not a huge beer drinker, longing to take another sip of my brew. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but something has to be done. Overall a good experience was had. This place is very down to earth and although the staff seemed a bit over-worked at first, they were really nice. read more

The highlight here is obviously the beer. Don't skip on the eats though, the char-grilled wings or brisket sandwich are a great compliment to an ice cold Road Rash IPA or Arizona Trail Ale! We live in the PHX area and come up to stay in Payson as often as we can. And we ALWAYS make time to drive the 15 min to visit That Brewery. We have been dozens of times and it's always great! The main reason is because they are soooo accommodating to our dogs. We have 2 50 lb Pit Bulls and no one ever gives us any issue when we bring them here. In fact, staff and customers alike want to give them so much attention. Today, I called ahead cuz I assumed the regular patio would be closed for the season, but we were able to bring them on the smoking patio. Thanks for the love! We are able to enjoy an amazing meal (the chili is the best EVER!!) and have a delicious beer, and relax in a nature filled location. Our dogs get food and attention, we have an incrediblly beautiful backdrop, and we always leave satisfied and excited for the next time we can come back!! read more

This is our first time here. The staff is extremely friendly which is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect for me, personally. We sat at the bar and ordered a Backwoods Blonde which was delicious. The bartender was a little busy and asked another staff member to help us out...and she did...and she turned out to be the owner of THAT Brewery (Tamara). While she was helping us, the hostess asked her for assistance as well and she gladly pivoted to help out. We chatted about the area and about the food menu. What a great experience. This was such a welcomed stop on our way into Strawberry. The beers were delicious and I enjoyed the margarita and Bloody Mary I ordered. They pickle veggies here and they're very tasty! They even brew their own kombucha but I didn't have any of that. I ordered the ribs and brisket with coleslaw which was really good. I split with my husband who got the southwest burger. It was a good burger but I liked the bbq better! My girlfriends got brisket and the bbq chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was good but very outshined by everything else. I've been stopping by here for years after climbing trips and brought a few new folks to the area here after a day of climbing after raving about how awesome you guys are. Extremely disappointed though with how it went down and not typical at all for the level of care we've experienced here historical. Y'all need a new bartender, fast. After waiting nearly 30mins for 1 growler to be filled and 10 more for a 6-pack to be retrieved. Your horrible old bartender finally gets to me and tells me the beers I want are out. She literally told me how awesome they were when I walked up....might have been a cue to tell me they're out so we didn't stand around wasting time. 4 stars cause I hope this is an isolated incident and not a new standard. Your food and beers are top notch, but not worth it over bad staff. read more

The best meals of our trip to Strawberry were at That Brewery. We had a little bit of a wait on Saturday night around 6 as it was pretty busy, but it wasn't too bad (Maybe 10 minutes or so). I had a chili covered potato, and tried some Philly sandwich, and chili cheese nachos. The nachos were a gigantic portion, with elk and buffalo meat chili and melted cheese. They were excellent and we all finished the plate despite the mighty amount to conquer. The chili potato was good, and just the right size for a smaller appetite. I loved the chili itself. It had a good mix of meatiness and flavor. The Philly sandwich meat was very tender and flavorful. Another great item to order. In addition to indoor seating, there's a large outdoor patio where they have live music on the weekends. Service was good and we were checked on as needed. I'm gonna be honest... the only okay thing here which was decent was the friendly staff. Food was very greasy with lots of fat and not cooked enough, it honestly tasted like they bought a hamburger patty from Walmart and stuck it on the grill, honestly eating a urinal cake out of a Loves Truck Stop would be more satisfying than this... mediocre food and mediocre prices. If you want to stop at a quote on quote "pub" in search of a burger I promise you the Circle K in Payson has one that you can warm up that's actually worth eating. This is such a fun stop for us when we're in the area! The isn't bad, the beer is tasty and they have a dog friendly patio! They also have volleyball, a giant connect four game, and corn hole outside. As long as you're okay with paying $10 for a pretty average cheeseburger, you're good to go. read more
