Carol and staff make the BEST food!!! We go several times a year and always have great service and ono dishes

It genuinely hurts me to write this review. I remember when this restaurant first opened over 30 years ago. I was just a little kid. It has always been one of those neighborhood places that I wanted to support, and over the years I've continued coming back because, quite frankly, Auntie Carol is an incredible cook. Is she rude? Absolutely. Does she complain about everything incessantly. Yep. Anyone who has been here knows she's not exactly known for her customer service or chippy demeanor. I've always believed she has a good heart though, and I overlooked that because the food was worth it. Unfortunately, I can no longer overlook the hygiene. My wife had commented before about the number of flies around the restaurant, and I brushed it off. I figured, "It's Hawaiʻi. Flies happen." Yesterday changed everything. My three-year-old daughter suddenly started screaming, "There's a roach in my food!" Sure enough, there was a large cockroach in her meal. While we were trying to process that, my wife stirred my chicken curry, and a large fly (photo attached) floated to the surface. At that point, we threw everything away. Initially, Auntie Carol questioned whether we should receive a full refund and wanted to know which dish had the insect. When I explained that there was not only a cockroach in one meal, but also a fly in another, and showed her the photo, she refunded the order in full. Only fair. We tossed everything. Roaches and flies and a lengthy black hair in our food. Repugnant. When I got home, I searched through the Google reviews. I found multiple other customers reporting cockroaches and multiple others reporting flies in their food. That tells me this was not simply an unfortunate one-off. This genuinely breaks my heart because these women know how to cook. They're growing many of their own peppers and herbs, and there are dishes here that I've loved for years. No matter how talented a chef is however, basic sanitation isn't optional. I sincerely hope they take this as a wake-up call and address the hygiene problems and if not, do the right thing and close once and for all. read more

ROACHES EVERYWHERE I walked in and placed an order for pickup. While waiting for my order to be prepared I saw 3 cockroaches. I informed the worker and she went to grab her broom and swept up one. When she swept it, a bunch of ants came crawling out of the roach. I saw another roach and pointed it out, this one was still alive. At this point I had lost my appetite and didn't trust the place to be sanitary. I asked for a refund and the lady became upset. She said the entire plaza has a bunch of cockroaches. My family has gone to ono seafood next door and we didn't see a single cockroach. The restaurant itself was really dirty. After insisting I did not want the food and I wanted a refund she finally gave me a refund. Definitely stay away from this place. read more

I love the food, unfortunately we had a roach stuck to the tape holding our takeout container closed. The owner has been short to become irritated on the phone in the past when I was trying to place an order, so I didn't feel comfortable calling to inform them. I will not be returning as I have become aware that there is a larger roach issue and this was not an out of place occurance. read more

The food is really good! The sticky rice was like a multigrain and was delicious! At first I was worried the curry would be watery but it was flavorful and just needed to be mixed. The pad Thai was on point and the shrimp were giant and seared perfectly. Auntie was upset that day because someone ordered food and couldn't pay and wanted free food. She's dealing with a lot so please keep her in business. It was a slightly longer drive to Kalama valley but worth it! read more

Totally unjustified low rating. We were scared to order anything from a low rated Thai joint, but the Tom Yum blew us away. Perfectly tangy, perfect amount of lime, good amount of lime kefir, lots of veggies & great tasting chicken. Never had cucumber in Tom Yum, but it added an amazing flavor & taste. Little mom & pop place. Service is not the greatest & I had a little difficulty understanding what she was asking, but it's never a dealbreaker for me as long as the food is good. I love Thai food, but I will NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!! I walked in and placed 2 Takeout orders. #1 all Vegetables Tom Yum soup with side order of Sticky Rice, #2. Tofu Salad. This is what I got!!! Tiny cubes of boxed Tofu. It looked like tiny cubes of chicken! Wrapped in foil! Romaine Lettuce wasn't even cut up for a salad, they were left UNCUT! Top that off "NO DAMN ASIAN SALAD DRESSING" WHAT THE HECK!! My bill was $42.00 damn dollars and for what??? Here's the kicker!! In the flat box the food was placed in came with an unwelcome and unwanted guest !! A ROACH!! I WAS FORCED TO THROW ALL THE SO CALLED FOOD AWAY!! I literally lost $42.00 Dollars from that UNSANITARY PLACE! Come Monday morning, I will call the health department and tell them to close the restaurant down until they fumigate it!! That is a major HEALTH PROBLEM THERE!! I WILL NEVER ORDER ANY FOOD FROM THAT DIRTY PLACE AGAIN! OMG!. They owe me $42.00 Thank goodness I didn't leave a tip!! read more

Food is not fresh tasting. The stir fried vegetables lack that wok taste. They were using the microwave to warm up food and the rice wasn't fresh. The pad Thai wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. There is one server and the cook. We weren't greeted and other patrons encouraged us to just grab a table. We came here when this place first opened many many years ago and sadly the taste and flavor of the food has changed. The restaurant definitely looks its age. read more

We have been patronizing Thai Valley since it opened. I ordered Yellow Curry with Chicken, Crispy Fish and Sticky Rice. Owner claimed I also ordered Panang Curry . Which I did not. I told her maybe she should repeat the order , to which she said she is too busy. Told me to Not Come Back if I refused the Panang Curry! And guess what, the Yellow Curry with Chicken we ordered was with Fish. And our granddaughter does not eat fish. I will honor the mandate by the owner. Thanks read more

Very bad service and attitude. We went as a family and waited there for 10 min for someone to come take the order. It seemed no one wanted to even ask or serve. It seemed like having a new customer was problem for them. When the lady came to take order. We asked if we could have satay and sauce separate the language was not clear and we got confused. The lady said "what's the problem with you guys ?", which was absolutely rude. She was not even ready to take further order. It was such an unwelcoming attitude. And the vibe was very low. We preferred to walk out from there and eat at a place who was not ready to serve us. read more

We've seen this restaurant a few times and we were curious about it so we decided to try it out. Disclaimer: the last time I ate Thai food I got super sick so Thai food isn't my favorite type of food. Anyway with that said, we decided to give it a try. I stick to super simple when purchasing from Thai restaurants because I don't like spicy and coconut milk is just awful on my belly. I know, I know more than half the dishes at a Thai restaurant are spicy or have coconut milk in it. So we ended up getting green curry (husband), papaya salad, pad Kee mao (not spicy), and fried rice (not spicy) I was able to try all things even if was just a small sample of my husband's green curry. His was so spicy, I couldn't even eat it. The sticky rice that was served with it looked a lot different from other places. It was a different color but it was still good with the curry and made it less spicy. My favorite was the fried rice. The pad kee mao was shocking when I opened it. I never seen pad kee mao like that. It had so many weird vegetables on there and all the noodles were hidden under. None of us like that and we ended up throwing it out. We're glad that we tried it. My husband liked his curry and rice. I'd definitely come back for the fried rice. read more

Amazing food. I am terrible at remembering to leave reviews but this place really deserves it. I was worried when my wife and I were the only people in here at 6:30pm but I laughed it off and told her I booked the restaurant out for a private date. we planned to eat in this place but when we went there the place did not open. It says it opens at 11 a.m., but there were no responses until 20 mins past 11 am. We waited 15 mins before 11 am and after 20 mins 11 am. we were a total of 15 people wanting to enjoy the Thai meal but was really disappointed. We called the restaurant multiple times, but there was no response. we saw some people working inside the restaurant but nobody responded. First off I used to love this place and their food. The Thai fried rice is delicious. But unfortunately I will not be going here for a long time if ever. There was a cockroach in my chow fun I ordered for take out today. I called and asked for owner, they weren't in so I spoke to whomever answered. You would think their immediate response would be apologetic and offer an instant refund. Instead I got "what do you want to do? Pick up new one today or tomorrow?" As if I bothered them with the phone call. I didn't ask for a refund just wanted them to be more careful when cooking. My 3 year old almost ate the cockroach. Total health hazard. read more

You know this place is an adventurous Thai place when you see Cornish hen on the menu, something I have seen at a handful of restaurants in Hawaii. Which if you can stomach eating your meat on the bone is a smaller but richer version of chicken originally from England who's white meat is more buttery like dark meat. But the real star of the show here for me is the Satay Eggplant: tempura aubergine slathered in a slightly sweet and savory peanut sauce. Yes, you heard me...slathered...most places you get a side of sauce, this place slaters it. That and the Satay Tofu which both come on a bed of cabbage to catch all the lovely sauce were my staple meals as a vegan a few years ago. Another unassuming but gem of a dish is the Coconut Ginger soup which I just tried yesterday and can not believe I have not had earlier. Creamy, savory with a tangy note, this is a homemade broth worth savoring. I found powdered mandarin peels at the bottom and fresh peeled bamboo shoots amongst the fresh vegetables packed inside this lovely veggie only option of this divine concoction. The food is always made by a delightful older Thai lady in the back with an apron on, you know this is authentic. Plus they have a Durian and Jackfruit (the fruit flavor of Juicy Fruit gum) dessert wrapped in banana leaf. Not my cup of tea but I know real Thai people are around when I see that on the menu. The Pad Thai noodles are another staple, the accompaniments are less fresh options than some places but the noodles are brown from sauce which makes a more comforting and tasty version of this commonly available dish. And lastly the Cornish hen though a bit chewy and a little dry, is fried in fragrant spices, lightly floured then deep fried. If you're gonna try something new, it should be deep fried. That's all I'm saying and if possible also slathered in sauce, this place knows how to make things flavorful. It's just how adventurous is your palate? read more

We, my daughter and I went to Thai Valley cuisine ordered spring rolls, green papaya, salad, and Penang curry. We enjoyed our meal. Mama took our order and her best chef in the back of the house prepared. Everything deliciously will definitely return best Thai food in East Oahu. when the food came we were so hungry. I'd had eaten here previously and my experience was OK. Nothing memorable. You couldn't compared it with the amazing Thai restaurant Opals but wasn't it bad at all. I took my boyfriend today for the first time. And they only do takeout due to Covid in summer 2022...Hmmm OK. We sat outside to eat, (@ the benches) and as we were eating we found a worm in our yellow curry. I went inside and showed them, we got a refund for that dish, the host girl was gracious, but the cooks acted like that's totally normal. As if they were used to that. We tried to finish our other order, but by then we felt a bit disgusted and uneasy. So we ended up getting pizza somewhere else. It was a waste of $65 and our time! read more

This is a cute neighborhood restaurant. There are only 2 ladies running the place, so be patient. The food is worth the wait. We opted to dine in. Spring rolls were fresh and perfectly crispy. I'm confused by so many bad reviews for this place. I've been several times, and never had a bad experience. Tonight RL and I went on a whim and we thought it was exceptional on several levels. First the spring rolls were crispy and delicious and had more than enough lettuce, cucumber and mint leaves for EACH spring roll! (my number one Thai restaurant complaint is the ones that give you 6 spring rolls, 3 lettuce leaves, 4 cucumber slices. I mean really? What's up with that?) We had the Evil Jungle curry with scallops, which were cooked to perfection and not at all rubbery. The curry was pretty thin, but it seems that lots of Thai curries are. The guys at the next table seemed to have the right idea. They just dumped their entire bowl of sticky rice into the curry. We also had Pad Thai, which was really quite delicious. Okay, so I know that Pad Thai isn't really "Thai" food at all, but still... this was very good. An excellent combination of sweet, salty and savory. One order of sticky rice was more than enough for two of us. Also this is BYOB with no corkage fee, which is always worth an extra half star in my book. Unless the place is a bar that makes fabulous cocktails, paying triple the Costco price for the exact same wine is seldom appealing (Note: Costco is on your way to Thai Valley if you're coming from town).
