YUM YUM YUM! I just went to Capitol Hill Block Party and was dying for some food I could walk around and eat without needing to scope out a table. I am also gluten free and pescatarian, so my options felt limited. Thai U Up was exactly what I was looking for! I loved how easy their menu is- it's large font, shows what is gluten free/veg, and has a photo. They were out of most of the apps, but I was still able to get some lovely gluten free pad thai with tofu. It came out hot, satisfying, and the perfect meal! Super easy to carry around since it was in a firm container. The portion size was generous and the staff was so kind. I will be keeping my eye out for this truck at future festivals and events! read more

Got this at a food cart at a lacrosse tourney. Guys said maybe 15 minutes. It was super busy and took 5. The garlic chicken is 10/10 good. I got the volcano chicken and it was amazing. But no where near as good as the garlic. Perfectly crispy. Pretty juicy, right amount of garlic. read more

The food was flavorful and delicious! We got Pad Thai with chicken and fried rice. We also got pot stickers and rice with chicken. All dishes were flavored just right and they tasted good still the next day. A well balanced flavor of sweet and salty and sour all in one place. The crispy chicken was finger sticky good. I could not stop eating and wish we had more! A bit disappointed that the kitchen staff in the Truck were not wearing masks but otherwise the check out guy was. Would still come back. Great tasting Thai food from a popular food truck with a funny name. I've definitely been roped in and would come again to this food truck during my lunch break. The food truck location changes everyday. I came by as a part of my Eastlake Escapade (see Other section for description of what this is). Food I got the crispy garlic chicken that they are best known for, according to the guy at the window. The chicken was nice and crispy in the outside and very juicy on the inside. There was never a dry bit of meat. The outside glaze is sweet, and not excessively fishy since they use a shrimp paste house sauce. It's over a thin bed of lettuce but it's nowhere close to being like a side of salad. Best eat the food while it's still hot! Atmosphere Food truck so you eat wherever you want. The parking lot at 1201 Eastlake Ave is very safe and there is plenty of room to quickly pull in and order food. Pricing Prices for the portion were decent given the increase in cost of food, gas, and inflatio. The value for food is good. There's a $0.50 charge for ALL card purchases. Service  Excellent service. The man helping me at the window was very nice. I got there when there was no line and had my food within 3 minutes. Other Trucks are tucked away at the back of the parking lot so make sure to look for it!! My Eastlake Escapade refers to my food adventures that I go on during my lunch break since I work in the area. I ordered panang curry. This was the worst quality thai food I have ever eaten. The curry was sweet. The meat was not fresh. It came in a tiny container, half the size you would get in a restaurant, for $15. I'm glad it wasn't a bigger portion because I wouldn't have wanted to eat it. read more

I like their pad thai. (The only other pad thai places I like in seattle are bai tong and bangrak market and this place is almost as good.) Ordered from here many times, usually they are on point. My Uber order today unfortunately was not good. I ordered Panang Curry as we always do, and garlic chicken. Both meals were cut in half in size, and not closed properly. Tried to call to have them fix it, just goes to an answering machine. It's really hard trying to support local businesses during this time, when the quality is slipping. If there was a change to the menus, it should reflect that on Uber eats. Garlic chicken was so gooooooood. Two stars brought the heat. My mouth was numb a few bites in. Even with delivery it was still pretty bomb dot com. The chicken was a little dry but the parts with more sauce were really good and flavorful. I appreciated that they cut vents in the box to prevent the chicken from going soft since it's deep friend and all. All in all, I'm super happy with the chicken and it was exactly what I had wanted. I wouldn't say it's as good as Buddha Ruska but I've never gotten their chicken delivered...so maybe if I had stopped by the food truck and scarfed it down there, I'd be singing a different tune. Amazing food, portions, and prices. I usually get the pad thai and pineapple fried rice. There is a serious problem with their ordering process though. If you order through Uber eats, an automated algorithm will tell you after 10 minutes or so that it's ready to pick up. The food truck is not the one who says it's ready. This will cause issues of the 5-10 cars clogging the poor gas station's parking lot because everyone shows up thinking their food is ready and ends up waiting 30 minutes for it to actually be ready. The worst part of that is when the man is staffing the truck. He's quite rude and a terrible communicator. The lady who works there is much friendlier and will at least apologize if there's an issue like that. read more

Just got my order ten min ago two pad Thais and volcanic chicken... what absolute trashhhh. Pad Thai is pure slop no vegetable, or eggs. Ordered 4/5 spice can't taste any heat at all. Also pad Thai came with rice and the hard part of a cabbage??? The volcano chicken is hard and tastes like a day old Panda Express. My three entrees were 70$ and went straight into the trashhhh. I did not physically go to the food truck, I ordered it off UberEATS. It got delivered to me in 45 min. I will need to seek out this food truck and try their other dishes! I ordered: pineapple panang curry tom kha coconut soup with chicken Both items were delicious. I thought the curry would be coming with rice and it didn't. Since I was at home, I just made some of my own in my rice cooker. Both items spilled in the bag. Both containers were piping hot as well. I guess what I'd suggest for to go soups, would be to put a little piece of cardboard in the bag to steady them and maybe double bag. But this problem could probably have been prevented if the driver had been more careful. Anyways, both the soup and curry were yummy. Lot's of shrimp in the curry as well. Bland. Not spicy. Why is there rice? I ordered chicken Phad Thai, spicy level 4 out of 5. Waited 15 minutes. Food was hot and well cooked but very bland and not spicy at all. Also, why would they serve sticky rice with a dish that is almost entirely rice noodles? That's not normal and I think they're just filling space in the box. I regret tipping. I used to be a bigger fan of this place, but the price has gone up, the quality has gone down, and the portion sizes are so small. Their yellow curry is disappointing, and doesn't taste like any curry I've ever had (and I've had a lot). It's really lemony as opposed to having a rich depth of flavor like normal yellow curry, and it has tomatoes in it, which just doesn't work. I had a hard time finding the truck. That was fun!!!!! So I go up to it and I ordered the Pad See Iew with chicken. I asked the guy in the truck if they take cards. He said no, only cash. I'm like, you got to be kidding me!! I don't remember reading that online. So I asked him if I could order online on my phone and pick it up. He said yes, I could. And that you can use a card when you order online. After taking the time to drive to White Center and find this place I was not going to leave empty handed. So I order my dish. I ask the guy how long it will take to get it. He says about 5 minutes. Not bad right? He confirmed my order online and I thought I was all set. So I'm standing there waiting. People came after me and ordered. One lady went and got cash at the gas station and ordered. She got her food before me. So I walk up to the guy at the cash register and I say to him, after all these people are getting their food, when will my food be ready? He said soon. I waited almost 22 minutes in the hot heat for a dish that ended up not even being that good. What a let down. All the way from Burien I drove to find them. Found them. Then the food is sub par. Just like the service. This dish I got was not worth the time and trouble and cost it took tonight. I am REALLY disappointing. Overall a very solid Thai truck and only reason it gets 3* instead of 4* is because it sucks to grab cash to pay for the meal. They only take cash or check and it's a complete pain for the way I pay for all other food and pretty much all else. I usually get the pad prik king guy and it's one of my favorite dishes in west Seattle, the sauce on the hottest they make is still pretty mild and yet it's a tasty treat. If you get the pad Thai as well you can move the rice from the noodles to the pad prik king (because there is no reason for it there) you get after more of the juice. Both are tasty dishes but could be hotter when you ask for their hottest. I like my Thai really spicy and they don't quite make it that hot but overall pretty tasty. read more

Poor quality and tiny portions. Really there is not much else to say. Ordered Pad Thai with Chicken, 5 stars. Received 10 minutes later what looked like a side order of Pad Thai hidden by a mass of cabbage & sprouts, and the serving also included a pile of white rice. For $10.50? From a Food Truck? Well it had better be excellent. But it was worse than mundane. Sauce was overly loaded with vinegar. They used tofu instead of chicken - and hardly any tofu at that. And the fried tofu was very watery. And it was not spicy - 2 stars max. Complete rip off. And who serves a carb main course with a carb side dish? Oh yeah, somebody pinching their pennies. But a food truck with little overhead? You know, just because it's a Roach Coach does not mean the food is hip and good. Food Trucks I hope are a dying fad. They only take cash but will never get any of mine again. Skip the Thai food and just get some gas at the 76 station they are located at. I ordered pad Thai with beef($13.45), and fish cakes($7.95) for take out through grubhub with a $3.53 tip and $2.16 in sales tax = $27.09. No big deal. I just got paid and decided to splurge a bit. I got there 5 minutes early and he told me to wait at least 10 minutes. No problem. I get my food 15 minutes later and I am immediately disappointed at the appearance of the portion size. The light weight of the bag was even more telling of how small it was. I open it up and first thing I see is rice. Rice on my rice noodles. Cool. I asked if my order got mixed up because I didn't think pad Thai came with rice and he assured me that's what the order entailed. I asked for a refund after explaining that the portion size was far too small and I didn't want rice on my pad Thai. he refused to give me my money back and I told him he's working cheap business, and his reply was "Yeah well, we're making money!" I often used Thai u up delivery and I thought the food was good but a bud sweet like some family Thai restaurants which is why no review. I usually do great or really bad reviews. Well last night I ordered vegan pad see uwe, vegan fried rice, vegetable delight and it was almost perfect!!! Not too sweet and still tasty. We asked for 2 stars but it was actually 3-3 1/2 but once asked for 3 stars and it was barely 2. I loved the spice but was sharing and a bit too spicy for them. I've been waiting to try this truck for some time. It's usually in West Seattle. I caught up to it recently at the Mobile Food Rodeo. For the Rodeo, I think they planned very well. In addition to regular sized dishes, they did a number of tasting sizes. All trucks are required to have a $5 dish but Thai-U-Up had a number of them. I appreciated this because I was able to sample two dishes, instead of one. I'm a sucker for fried chicken of any kind. I tried the volcano chicken and crispy garlic chicken. Of the two, I liked the crispy garlic chicken better. They're pretty much the same with different sauces. They are CRISPY! I love that. I had rice with my chicken and they cooked it well. That seems like a strange thing but I like my rice a little sticky. Separate grains and I don't get along. The portions were good. Service was quick and the food came out in decent time. Overall, I'd eat there again and hope to try more of the menu. read more

Wow! I'm sitting here right now, eating a sinful amount of Thai-U-Up. Hell, I'd order food from them just because of the name! Happily, provocative name aside, this place has great food! I decided to write the review while I was eating because at least it would slow me down a little. Now, I am lazy and will order the $20 minimum for delivery, even though I know there's no way I can eat all of the food. This delivery required two entrees and an appetizer. I live close to the truck but even so, the delivery was unbelievably fast - 20 minutes roughly. The potstickers were crispy and delicately flavored. I had to eat them all, even though my stomach was starting to hurt. The yellow curry was rich and delicious. The vegetables tasted very fresh and there was a lot of chicken in it. Actually, all of the portions were generous. Two normal humans, you know, the kind that don't stuff themselves to the point of sickness when the food is good, could share an entree. The crispy chicken was lightly breaded and very crisp. I got both dishes two stars which is the perfect spice for me - just a little warm. Definitely the best Thai I've had in awhile. Check them out. Go-tos include the golden noodles, basil delight, and the volcanic chicken. Prep & delivery time is promptly communicated & adhered. Worth mentioning that if your order meets or exceeds $20 on GrubHub, there is no delivery fee charged. It makes for a great night in when you feel bombarded by choices or simply don't want to pay to get a quick dinner delivered. One recommendation: As a regular, I've gone around the menu a few times. The Pad See Iew from the food truck is delicious, but be forewarned - the spice game is strong! I normally ask for 4-star spiciness from Thai restaurants, but this one is really kicking my butt! Lots of chicken, and I kind of wish there was more brocccoli. But still really good. Service was polite and fast enough; however, the noodle dishes took longer than the rice dishes. When you look at a breakdown of the reviews for this place, they really seem to run the gamut. I'm glad my husband and I checked it out. My husband did the actual pick up of the food, and he said there were tons of cars coming and going for takeout. We had the pad prik khing and pad Thai both spicy level 3. Wow! Have to say I was impressed with the prik khing. Just the perfect amount of spice and flavor. I love spicy and I'm glad I went with the 3 because I think higher would've been too much for me! The food here is excellent, but their ability to keep it consistent is frustrating when it comes to wanting a specific order. The spice range can really vary on who's cooking the food that day (in my opinion) BUT it's always FRESH and always quality. Excellent fresh food, homemade spring rolls and pot stickers and super prices! For under $40 we got spring rolls, potstickers, phad Thai, phad kee mao, and volcano chicken w white rice.
