The restaurant is located in a strip mall and has more of a casual café atmosphere, so I would not consider it a date-night type of place. The service, however, was disappointing. They charge an additional 3.99% for card payments, so I chose to pay cash. After taking my money, the server never returned with my change. I waited while she took a phone order, delivered food to other customers, and processed another table's payment, but she never acknowledged me again. Because I never received my change, I unintentionally left approximately a 36% tip. It felt very obvious that she had no intention of returning, which really bothered me. On a positive note, when I arrived, another customer walked in at the same time. I asked whether she had eaten there before and if the food was good. She said yes and mentioned that she visits a few times each month, so the restaurant clearly has regular customers. We stopped here en route from Bear Canyon Lake back to Phoenix after a long day paddleboarding and playing disc golf. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and portion size of the meals. It wasn't the best muss-aman curry I've ever had, but it was pretty good. I'd have preferred it to be a little less sweet with sliced carrots instead of shredded, but those are preferences. The spice level was good and the portion was big enough for 3 meals. Everyone working was very nice and the place was small, but clean. I was passing by and craving Thai food, so after seeing Thai Station with 4 stars, I decided to give it a try. I usually don't give one-star reviews--in fact, I can't even remember the last time I did--but this experience truly warranted it. When I walked in, the restaurant was completely empty. Despite that, I wasn't greeted or acknowledged. The only two people there (possibly the owners) stood behind the register. Still, I went ahead and ordered since I'm familiar with most Thai menus. I started with the Ocean Tom Yum soup. Unfortunately, it completely lacked flavor. There was no trace of lemongrass or the signature balance of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy that makes Tom Yum what it is. Then came my main entrée: Tofu Pad Thai. Again, the dish was extremely bland, and they forgot to include the crushed peanuts. The portion size was generous--enough for two--but I barely ate four bites before giving up. Sadly, it ended up wasted. What made the experience worse was the lack of professionalism. While I stood there, the staff spoke in another language, laughing and looking directly at me several times. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful. If you're craving Thai food, I strongly recommend exploring other options in the area. Convenient location next to Bashas. Friendly and welcoming staff. Ordered Thai Chicken noodle soup and requested no broccoli and I should have requested no cabbage but didn't realize that was an ingredient. Large portion w/noodle served on the side. Soup was good but I had to pick out all the cabbage but that's on me. The carrots were good not overcooked. Broth was very flavorful- chicken base with garlic and cilantro. Maybe a hint of chili (which I did add more) chicken breast sliced thin was tender. I had enough for 3 meals. Orange chicken: not good. The chicken was super tough, dry, and very overcooked. Not sure what kind of orange sauce but this dish went in the trash. Did come with a side of Jasmine rice. Summer rolls were good with fresh crispy vegetables. Peanut sauce was nice with just a hint of spicy. Hands down one of the best Thai places I've ever been to! I did not expect one of my new favorite Thai places to be in Payson, Arizona. We had the pad see lew with pork and the pra ram lang song with chicken. The curry had the perfect touch of coconut and was not overpowering. Both were amazing. My boyfriend also really enjoyed having the chili fish sauce on the side. We got a mango sticky rice to-go which was creamy, soft and toasty. The staff were also sweet as well. This is pretty much hit and miss. The service is friendly, but don't stay there too long because they will tell you they're closing when they're not. I went there on a date. We were literally the only people in the restaurant and after an hour and a half or so they told us they were closing because it was slow. We went and sat in the car to figure out where we were going to go next And people started going in, and we realized that they had lied to us. Even though there was no one else there and we had tipped generously and ordered full meals appetizer and dessert. I went there with my son and I told him make sure you don't stay here too long and he thought it was funny. But after we ate our appetizer and our meal, we ordered dessert and they brought the check before we even got the dessert. I'm not sure what's going on with them wanting to get customers out the door, but maybe that is the reason that they are slow. I like this place better than the other Thai place in town, but it really is hit and miss as to what you order. While the dining room is lovely the door and walls of the restroom are scuffed and dirty. Cleaning and miscellaneous items kept on open dirty cabinet. Driving through Payson the other day I wanted some Asian food but Payson doesn't really have a good spot for Chinese. Most of the town folk aren't impressed with the ones in town. So I was amazed to see this spot here. I check out the lunch menu and was very interested. Got seated very quick and got my drink order. I decided on the lunch special chicken chow mein. I first got a bowl of what they called cabbage soup. It was raw cabbage in what I think was a soy broth of some sort. The cabbage had a very nice texture when sitting in the soup and the broth was awesome. Then came my meal and it was a very big portion. The salad looks mainly like a bag of salad from the grocery store but I don't care because the peanut sauce dressing was so good! I need to see if they have a salad lunch with that dressing because it had a great sweetness with a good spice at the end. The chow mein was really good and the chef made it very good. Some places either use too much sauce or get the noodles really soggy but everything had a good wok fire. On top of that the price for all this was 11.99, about $18 after tax and tip. We have eaten at this Thai restaurant in Payson, AZ, several times in the past 3-4 years, usually on Sundays when we drive back to Maricopa from Show Low. We have decided to stop. While the ambiance was welcoming and the staff friendly, we found the consistency of the food unpredictable and a pet peeve of mine: the floors are sticky and dirty. The last time we stopped in the music was so loud we had to ask them to turn it down. These items have not deterred us completely because there have been instances of delightful meals. I really wanted to like this place; we've given it five or six chances over the past year. On paper it ticks the right boxes: the food smells good, the ingredients seem legit. Unfortunately the recipes themselves feel like someone read about Thai food in a textbook and then tried to re-create it for a mid-western potluck. Pad thai arrives cloyingly sweet and too wet, the green curry tastes like it was thickened with cornstarch and seasoned with a single bay leaf. It's as if the shopping list flew in from Chiang Mai but the cooking instructions got lost somewhere over the Pacific. The bigger red flag is the chaos in the kitchen. Every time we've walked in there's a new face behind the register, and on three separate visits we could hear shouting matches in Thai rattling the pots and pans. High staff turnover is an understatement--more like a revolving door with a loudspeaker attached. When the stars align the food can be passable, but consistency is a roulette wheel. One week the larb gai is bright and herbaceous; the next it's limp lettuce cups filled with steamed chicken and bottled lime juice. After our most recent swing-and-a-miss dinner we finally threw in the towel. If you're craving Thai in Rim Country, drive the extra 35 minutes to Mesa or wait until you're back in the Valley. There are simply better options than rolling the dice here. read more

It is similar to some of the Thai food I have had in the past and I recommend. The service was also very good. We got in the mood for some Thai food and noticed that there was a Thai restaurant in the same complex right by Basha's. Found this restaurant and couldn't be happier. Really good good and decent portion size for lunch specials. The cashew nut curry with tofu and veggies I ordered tasted really good which came in with fresh salad. They ran out of the wontons so offered us spring rolls instead. Definitely returning whenever I'm in the area and craving for some good Thai food.
