I was in Show Low for a few nights and had tried 4 dishes from them so far. I loved that the food there wasn't so americanized sweet and seemed more authentic Thai food than what I could find at a typical Thai restaurant in the US. The proprietors Oy and Robin put in love into making wonderful food for their customers. I definitely hope the next time I'm back in Show Low that their truck is still around! Oy and Robin are wonderful! They are very friendly and the food is delicious and freshly made! Our son loves the curry and I usually order the drunken noodles and pad thai. Their food truck is located behind the mattress store and one can park at the Motel 6 parking lot to access it. Their flags are usually out by the side of the road when they're open (a welcome sight)! Ask for the menu to see which type of curry is served on different days. Outdoor seating, GREAT food, friendly owners. Wednesday's Edition of Alli's Culinary Adventures and Tales Having gone to Show Low and not had time to eat this morning, I was HUNGRY!! My friend Lisa had told me about a Thai place in Show Low that her friend Dee had told her about (see how word of mouth works?). Now, the only Thai place I knew of was never open when I want by so, I checked this place out. Turns out, I HAVE seen this truck but never noticed if it was open or not. So, here we are... Ruean Thai, a food truck, stationed by the Mattress Factory and Motel 6, 1304 E. Deuce of Clubs. BTW, I LOVE food trucks!! Looking over the menu, it all looks good but...what, what, WHAT to order? Ok, I pick the Prik Khing Gai Krob and it was so so so delicious! Big chunks of chicken (I had to use 2 or even 3 bites per piece!), wonderfully coated and fried to a crispy and savory outside, in a setting of great veggies...sliced carrots, green beans, yellow & red bell peppers, all in a wonderful spicy, yet a bit sweet, sauce! A side bowl of white rice accompanies this dish. The aroma when I opened the bowl of that chicken, veggies, and sauce! Oh!!! The crispness of the veggies...no mushy carrots at this place! I love the coating on the chicken, crunchy & crispy and just plain tasty!! The chicken was moist, NOT dried out at all. As I said, the veggies had a good crisp to them, and the sauce...oh, that is some good sauce with this dish!! I didn't notice until I saw my pictures but the menu on their sideboard DOES note the levels of Thai spiciness. Since this was my first time there, I didn't even think about it. As this dish came, the spicy level was perfect. For most palates above 4 years old, you should be able to handle it just fine. Next time, though...I'm upping the heat level!!! I brought one piece of chicken, with just less than half the rice, and whatever veggies & sauce I could scoop out of the main bowl home for a snack later. I've included pictures of their paper menu so you can choose before you get there. Robin and his wife Oi (or is it Oy?) own and run this place and are super friendly. Oi has a lovely smile, though I didn't get to talk with her as she was the one preparing & cooking the food. No table outside, but they do have a couple of plastic chairs and some tree stumps to use under the shade of the tree. There is a cooler with water and soda outside, too. A set of plasticware, chop sticks, napkins, etc is on the counter when you order. Stop in to Ruean Thai if you have a hankering to try some great Thai food!!! While I was eating, I saw 3 or 4 people come walking up to order and take their food, so you know it is a good place. As Robin said, he wants to cater to their customer base in Show Low and, hey, it shows in their care of food prep and taste! read more

Consistently good food. Medium spicy is about right for me, not so hot that you can't taste anything but still has a bit of a bite to it. Veggies are always good, cooked until tender but not soggy. I've had Thai food in places all across the country and have to say that this is one of the best. I think it's because they have a limited menu each day and aren't trying to do too much. We found this food truck on our way from Scottsdale to Pinetop for a long weekend. Chicken Pad Thai is amazing. Bring your patience as there is a wait for the food but worth it. im the owner of Ruean Thai. id like to address the negative comments. if your feelings get hurt easily you might not want to read! my wife works extremely hard for the "residents" of Show Low. what comments ive read, that were negative, were the most ridiculous complaints! if you dont like our portions, or you want to complain abour spice levels, or if you want to just smear us in general, our place isnt for you! my wifes cooking beats anyones within 100's of miles! if you think i wont speak my mind, well your wrong! if you have a complaint, you see me face to face! anyone who knows me knows ill treat them right! this is my wifes business, but im the one you deal with concerning complaints! if it cant be worked out at the window, then put it here. Our "Regular" customers seem to not agree with you! If we had things worth being negative about in here, then id understand. We have gotten excellent health inspections. If you want bigger portions, we can provide $. But our prices are already too low in comparison to other Thai places that arent as good as my wifes cooking. Her spices are Thai chili peppers. This Thai food was excellent. Price per meal is 13 dollars but give you a good portion of it. If you're not a big eater than I highly recommend to share with someone else. Food preparation is about 20-45 mins waiting time. I highly recommend you to call in early or you will have to be patience waiting for your meal to be cook. There are some lawn chair under the tree to sit and wait. Bring a book or just stare at the traffic going by! Each day they have different menus to choose from. If you're new to Thai food. I would recommend Pan Thai. If you're adventurous then I insist to order something else. If you have food allergies then this food is not recommended. This is a great place for date nights but I would recommend to bring your own drinks. Only problem is finding a parking place because it look well hidden. Ruean Thai is such a hidden gem in Show Low. Park in the Motel 6 and Mattress store parking lot and trot around to the back side of the mattress store and there is the Ruean Thai food truck. This is not fast food - it's amazing, fresh, authentic Thai food. Bring a camp chair and a good book to wait for your order under the big shade tree or chat with all the other regulars waiting. We have had the Chicken Pad Thai, the Chicken Curry dishes, the Fried Rice. All are amazing! The curry sauce has this perfect amount of heat. The chicken in all three dishes has been thinly sliced and incredibly tender. The "fried Rice" is nothing like you would usually get. There is no place in Tucson or Phoenix where I have had such good Thai food. The regulars rave about the Friday Mushroom Coconut soup. That is going to be our next dish to get. I have tried curry in the past and it literally left a terrible taste in my mouth and in my memories. When I went to try something new, I made the comment about not liking curry and was told I needed to at least sample it cause not all curry's are the same. Boy were they right!
