We were out fishing on the nearby creek when the weather took a dramatic turn for the worst. We decided this was the best time for lunch and found this place on Yelp. It's not hard to find, but it seems a little out of the way for the town. I suspect the locals enjoy it from time to time, though. The menu is very basic, burgers and tacos mostly. However, there are specials. We opted for the mushroom swiss burgers. You can choose a side of chips and a canned soda for the combo. It's a sold burger. They were grilled properly, juicy and flavorful. The mushrooms were nicely done and the earthy flavor was great. We hid from the rain in their small outdoor patio. It's really a place designed for "to-go" ordering, but the seating was perfect for two.

This burger joint is a real gem! The food is absolutely delicious and worth the drive outside of downtown Show Low. I'm 100% going here again the next time I'm in the area.

The Hole in One has probably the best burgers on the mountain but they do have a couple of problems they need to get ironed out, I just found out the hard way myself so I wanted to let people know. They do accept debit and credit cards now which is great, but they don't have a dedicated phone line for orders so if they're running transactions, which they pretty much always are, you're never going to be able to get thru on the phone. That being the case, I drove down there to get a burger (which is about 5-6 miles) to find out they had a 45 minute waiting list, as they aren't a huge restaurant and only have a few employees but for their location, they get absolutely swamped. If they were able to take phone orders that would be awesome so I wouldn't have to drive there and sit for 45 minutes, but the food is definitely worth it!

10/10 please try the bbq with a extra patty. ITS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!! The 2 owners are really nice and it made pretty quick. Definitely will be a go to spot in the future.

Wow, have to say I had one the best burgers I have had in a long time. Had the bacon cheese burger, $7.95. Hubby had the Ortega burger, $6.95. Mine was pretty perfect, Hubby was hoping his was spicer, but said it was good. They are mainly take out, only 2 tables outside. This place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere but certainly worth the drive. Beware they are closed on the weekends, and only take cash.

It's more than burgers ! I ordered a couple of tacos , lots of meat, lettuce , tomato and cheese. There not skimpy like you find at a chain that a little bit of meat lots of lettuce and a sprinkle of cheese nope there tacos are perfect just like the rest of there food. Service with a smile and so friendly. They have even put up more seating, corn hole. Best to call ahead if you're in a rush. Family friendly.

Such a gem! It's located on the side of the road and seems to be a local favorite. I ordered a Fifties burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Standard burger but ingredients were fresh and the meat patty was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The only downside is they don't have fries. However, they do have a limited selection of chips. The owners are such a sweet couple. We had a long conversation and the customer service was exceptional! The prices are reasonable and the food is great. Definitely a hole in the wall and a must visit! read more

We came here based on Yelp reviews, and am glad we did. From opening the vehicle door and smelling grilled burgers, we knew we made the right choice. It's a simple place, ambiance is humble but the kitchen delivers exceptional burgers! Seating is limited if you choose to stay but as we waited we saw several vehicles come and go with their to-go orders. I ordered the guacamole burger and my husband ordered the mushroom Swiss- both were huge and delicious!! I'm absolutely stuffed! I could have not eaten the whole thing but it was too good! We'll definitely be back and encourage others visit! read more

My blue cheese dressing was better than most I've tasted at this type of restaurant. The potato was huge and was cooked well. The topping, which consisted of bbq sauce, lots of this sliced fried onions and very little pulled pork was pretty good. Both my wife and were disappointed by how little pulled pork there was. The manager was training our server and she had a handheld device which placed our order with the kitchen and was used for paying the bill. We both ordered the pulled pork on a bake potato (that night's special) and a salad. The salad was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce with croutons. It seemed like the fried onions were used to "bulk up" the amount of topping. We'd come back, but we would not order a special dish.

The café is small, quaint, spotless, and filled with playful bear décor that gives the whole place a warm, cheerful personality. It has the cozy feel of an old-fashioned country diner--the kind of place where you can settle in with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy a hearty, homemade breakfast. And let's talk about the food and those portions--OH MY! I ordered three eggs, bacon, hash browns, and homemade biscuits and gravy. Everything was cooked to order, arrived surprisingly fast, and tasted wonderful. The biscuits and gravy especially satisfied that serious comfort-food craving I had that morning. They were warm, filling, and exactly what I needed! The coffee was a good, strong black brew that fit the country-café experience perfectly, and the prices were exactly what I would expect to pay for such a generous breakfast. The restaurant was busy, and with only two waitresses working, they could definitely have used another set of hands. A few guests had to ask for coffee refills or their checks, but this is a brand-new restaurant, and I am sure they are still working out the little details. The staff was working hard, so bring a little patience and enjoy the experience. Lovely Bear Cafe has all the ingredients to become a local favorite: delicious homemade food, huge portions, reasonable prices, fun décor, and plenty of small-town charm. Give this new café a chance to delight you the next time you are visiting the Pinetop-Lakeside area!

Beyond the menu, the service was incredible. The staff was fast, well-mannered, and attentive.
