Great food, classic home town look and vibe. This spot gets extremely busy. I would suggest getting there knowing you will have a wait. The staff is fantastic super down to earth. We all enjoyed our food. The chicken fried steak was incredible, the chorizo omelette was wonderful. We had a great time. read more

This was our second time visiting and yet again - had a massive breakfast for two! The portions are very large but lend a hand for fueling yourself first thing in the morning. The line can be quite large so be prepared if you decide to sleep in. The menu itself has a variety of options, all of which can easily be shared if you have a smaller appetite. It's a local cafe so don't expect culinary excellence but more of a homey feel. read more

We visited Darbi's Cafe for both lunch and breakfast while staying in Pinetop, and after two fantastic meals, we completely understand why this place is so popular! A little advice: if you are going for breakfast, arrive early--especially on a weekend. Darbi's gets busy! But whether you are waiting for breakfast or lunch, trust me, it is worth it. The portions are enormous, the food is excellent, and this team clearly knows how to serve a crowd. They have the whole operation dialed in. The restaurant itself is adorable, full of personality, and has the kind of lively, welcoming atmosphere that makes a meal feel like part of the vacation. For lunch, Dan ordered the Monte Cristo, served on a French toast bun with raspberry compote for dipping. It was sweet, savory, crispy, and absolutely delicious. We shared it, of course! I ordered the green chile cheeseburger, and it was packed with flavor. Breakfast was a whole adventure. We ordered one cinnamon roll to share, not realizing it was approximately the size of four normal cinnamon rolls! We both laughed, cut ourselves a slice, and immediately asked for a box. It was warm, ooey-gooey perfection, loaded with cinnamon and butter and covered in cream cheese frosting. Honestly, it may have been the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. As though that were not enough, we had also ordered a side of bacon--four generous slices--and full breakfasts. We both chose the prime rib Benedict, and it was incredible. The eggs were large and beautifully colored, the English muffin was tender, the sauce was just right, and the hash browns had that perfect crispy crunch. Needless to say, we did not finish everything at either meal. Darbi's definitely believes in leftovers! The prices were very reasonable, and the waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming during both visits. Between the huge portions, creative dishes, fun atmosphere, and outstanding food, Darbi's is a must for breakfast or lunch in Pinetop. Go hungry, arrive early, and save room in the car for your leftover boxes! read more

Stepping out of your vehicle on your first stop from the drive from phoenix and it's into a nestled cafe 20 degrees cooler already has you feeling right. Smells of scratch cooking welcome you as you walk in with smiles and the usual knickknacks for purchase to commemorate your trip abound. Seated outside and received our drinks quickly from our buss boy. Waiter arrived and took our order as the menu is large but it's got the staples if you're a breakfast fan it doesn't take long to decide. My buddy went with an omelet hash browns extra crispy w/ pancakes and myself the sausage link with over medium eggs home fries and toast. Large portions force you to take food to make decisions, over indulge, leave it behind, or take it to go. Thankfully we elected to leave it behind though it was all extremely delicious! We were given our check with no rush to leave but the travel plans had just begun so it was perfect. On our way out we just missed a rush as there was a line out the door so our 9:30am arrival was fortunate and awesome though we had no idea it would be. Definitely worth a morning breakfast if you're in this area! read more

Darbi's - our family's absolute favorite breakfast spot of all time! You just can't go wrong with any dish you get. They're all delicious! Some of our favorites...the croissant breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito, the breakfast chilaquiles are outstanding, the Denver, my husband loves the 3x3 skillet, the French toast, there's a secret menu item you can ask for...blueberry croissant French toast. My son loves the chocolate chip pancakes! Oh - and you HAVE to get the potato cake as a side! It's unique to Darbi's and so freaking good! Half our fam gets half cranberry/half orange juice to drink and the other half gets hot chocolate. It comes in the classic Darbi's cup too! Portions are huge. When I go with my cousins and sisters, four of us share three things. The service has always been stellar and the staff is so friendly. The signs they decorate with are adorable too. I swear I see a new one every time I go! If you can, eat outside in the summer, it's gorgeous! I'll keep coming back again and again!! read more

It was my first time visiting Darbis cafe, and I was really surprised by how packed it was! I went on a Sunday morning. The parking situation is honestly the worst! There's very limited parking and it's very crammed. The wait was also pretty long, but it's understandable as they were packed. The place is small, but cozy. The food was great, and had nice flavor. The pancakes were also nice and fluffy. I think the only thing I left wanting to try was their cinnamon rolls! They looked amazing, but I was too full after eating my breakfast. I will def be back once in town! read more

Had a great weekend in Pinetop and stumbled upon this absolute gem. Darbi's Cafe is the cutest little mom-and-pop breakfast spot. Exactly the kind of place you hope to find in a small mountain town. The cinnamon roll was HUGE and incredibly delicious. Soft, warm, and totally worth it. The menu has so many options it was honestly hard to choose, but everything we ordered was really good. You can tell the food is made with care. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience felt like a home-cooked meal. Cozy, comforting, and unpretentious...in the best way. Great food and better than expected service. The only disappointment is that breakfast isn't served after 12pm and we got there at 1pm.

This popular restaurant provided us a lovely breakfast experience when we were in the area. The decor is fun and comfortable with indoor and patio seating. There are lots of fun signs around to enjoy reading if you have to wait for a table. Our server, plus other staff, were very attentive and took care of any needs we might have had. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast with sourdough toast (looked and tasted like the real deal), potato cake (hash browns with onions, peppers, and melted cheese--yum!), 2 eggs over medium (cooked just right), chicken fried steak (kind of thin, but still crispy and tasty), and plenty of gravy on the side as I'd requested. I tried a bit of the pancakes my husband got and they were wonderful. The butter syrup was so good. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. If you want one of their huge cinnamon rolls, get there early. We missed out this visit! Half of my breakfast had to go in a take away box to enjoy later. read more

We ate at Darbi's today around 12:30 for lunch with a group of 7, and wow--this place was hopping! We did have a short wait, but it was totally expected and honestly a good sign. From the moment we sat down, the staff was incredibly friendly. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed by friends or family. Everyone was attentive, upbeat, and clearly working hard. Our group ordered a little of everything: three Chicken Fried Steaks, a half Chef Salad, Chicken Tenders, the Monte Cristo, and the Fish Fry. Every single dish came out hot and delicious. The portions were generous and the flavors were spot on. I personally had the Chicken Fried Steak and upgraded my side to mac and cheese--so glad I did. It was creamy, comforting, and absolutely hit the spot. The only small negative was that the soup was a bit lukewarm, but honestly, that didn't take away from how much we enjoyed the meal and experience overall. Highly recommend Darbi's if you're in Pinetop. We'll definitely be back! read more

A truly great breakfast place. This is a pretty popular spot, but they turn over tables quickly and you never have to wait too long. Pretty extensive menu with plenty of options and a great view from the patio. I got the 3x3 Skillet and it was just about as good as it gets. No complaints at all. Portions are huge! My wife got the Loaded Biscuits and Gravy, which was also great but the jalapeños were spicy that day. Be careful if you aren't a fan of super spicy food. What a great meal! It was busy when we walked in, the host was quick and seemed to know a lot of the regulars. He joked around with the customers. We were quickly seated on a nice outside patio. We had to try the cinnamon roll which was very good. I will be eating it for the next three days it was so big! I had the bacon mushroom and spinach omelette. Which was great! The home fries could have used a little more seasoning. My wife had the pancake flight which was great. They make a buttermilk syrup in house which was delicious and something I never had heard of before. Huge portions, quality food and great service! read more

Friendly servers, yummy food, and a cozy family atmosphere - a great find! We were in town for a getaway from Phoenix and picked Darbi's based on the reviews. Had a delicious southwest chicken sandwich for lunch and we shared cheese curds for an appetizer. The curds were so good I forgot to grab a picture before we scarfed them down! Anytime we are in Pinetop, we always make sure to stop by Darbi's before coming home! The staff is always so kind and the wait is never truly long since we arrive around 8:30/9:00 before there's a big rush. The service was very quick which was amazing since we were heading back home and wanted to beat most of the traffic down to the valley. Their menu looks new and there were plenty of options for everyone to choose from. My oatmeal was perfect and there weren't really any complaints from the group. The only hiccup that we encountered was the sausage gravy, for biscuits & gravy, was not warmed and it was a little cold. The biscuits were delicious and helped warm the gravy up a little bit. Other than that, no complaints and can't wait to go back! read more

When I am in Pinetop, I must always stop at Darbi's. It was Saturday morning around 9:30 am and extremely busy. I lucked into a parking spot, which can be tricky. I managed to grab a seat at the bar so that was another score. The wait for a table was probably about an hour. I decided on Steak & eggs. The steak, seasoned perfectly and cooked medium rare, over medium eggs and terrific hash browns along with a massive biscuit. The best steak and eggs, I have ever had. Maggie was my server and even though the place was hopping, she managed to check on me appropriately. There are several dining rooms, and they are always full, but since I was alone, getting the last bar seat was perfect. I was leaving town after eating and couldn't afford the time to wait for a seat. I have never had a bad meal there. Their baked goods are so good, but after that nice steak & eggs, there was no room. My recommendation is if you are ever in Pinetop, you must stop, just be prepared to wait unless you are there when they first open. There is a reason they are so popular. A scratch kitchen with amazing food. No pics, because I forgot. read more

Founded by a local lady, this is the absolute best breakfast spot in Pinetop! Plentiful portions, really great food and friendly efficient service. Local reviews seem to rave about this place. It was ok, not outstanding. Pulled pork sandwich was good and enjoyed potato salad. My friend had Cuban which was good but not authentic Cuban sandwich. It should have been listed as ham and grilled pork sandwich Another friend had breakfast cinnamon bun which was extra huge nice but very dry. Needed more sauce. We ate on outside patio which was extremely noisy with road traffic which ruined this for me. If you going to eat there eat inside. Overall this was a one time experience for me. Average quality. Nothing special. read more

Decided to give this a try based on the reviews and other things we heard. As always the Yelpers are spot on. Absolutely amazing food. The portions with just about everything are massive and were two meals in themselves with the amount of leftovers we had. I was craving a Rueben sandwich this day and our server said it was her favorite thing on the menu. And it was good as advertised with the generous servings of meat on the sandwich and the curly fries as a side. Stopping in the day before a holiday the pies and baked goods seemed like popular items as a lot of those were being sold but unfortunately I did not get the chance to sample any so can't speak to that. The atmosphere is that of a diner/cabin kitchen hybrid vibe with also a small bar area on the side so it has a down home feel to the place. Can't wait to stop in again the next time I'm in town and when I do I plan to have breakfast there as the photos and reviews from those offerings look just as wonderful. 5 star establishment all the way around! read more

Well, I tried again for breakfast. While the food was fresh, it just was not hot. I even asked the waitress to make sure it was, but the only thing that was hot was the eggs. The gravy was just lukewarm and the hashbrowns were cool on the inside. I didn't bother with asking for it to be changed. I just ate it down and got out. Sadly, for $20 (incl tax and tip) for one person for breakfast, this should not continue to be an issue. Especially when you specifically mention it when ordering... I did mention it while paying, but it fell on deaf ears... She also ran it through so fast I could not ask for my senior discount, so I paid full price for a sub-par meal... read more
