I love their lunch! I always order the vegetarian wrap and it's usually great. I went twice this week and when I went on Wednesday it was missing the avocado and cheese but I'm so thankful they have a tasty vegetarian option that it won't deter me from going back. This restaurant missed the mark in so many ways from the very beginning. We asked to be seated outside, but were told they weren't seating anyone outdoors at that time. We were seated inside, got our drinks, and then waited about 30 minutes just to place our order. Our server explained that she had been outside taking orders. My husband looked at me and said, "Well, that's nice considering we asked to sit outside." The service continued to be extremely slow. Even after most of the restaurant had cleared out, it still took a long time to get our check. The biggest disappointment was my husband's steak. He ordered it Pittsburgh style and medium rare. As you can see, it was nowhere close. It was well done with no char whatsoever. By the time our server came back to check on us, we were nearly finished eating. They brought out another steak to go and told us, "My manager took a torch to it." Unfortunately, it just tasted like gas instead of having a proper Pittsburgh-style crust. To make matters worse, they didn't offer any discount or remove anything from our bill despite the poor service, the incorrect meal, and the long wait. Next time we will forgo the Fargo's. Ambience- looks like a nice and well kept establishment. Patio was great but a little screening from the gas station to block headlights would be a good idea. First impression--The hostesses were great! Party of 10 so understandably it can be a challenge on a Saturday evening. They handled getting us a table perfectly. Thankfully it wasn't crazy busy. The service-- waitress was nice but felt forced while not delivering the level you'd expect from a steak house. Specials were not explained. We came for steak and a tomahawk was one of the specials but we had no idea until after we ordered and overheard from another server telling her guests. We confronted our server later and she gave excuses. Not a good look. Food-- Bang Bang Shrimp was over sauced and mushy. Ribeye unfortunately had no flavor and oddly very tough to cut at Med Rare. Didn't eat much of it. New York steak was the same. Tenderloin was tender but mushy. Overall steaks not seasoned. No peppercorn seasoning as mentioned on menu. All of the steaks appeared to be oven baked. No sear or grill marks. We boxed up 2lbs of steak lol. Plan is to fine chop and use for tacos $600 Check-- told them initially that we were fine with one check to keep it simple for the server. Applied 20% auto gratuity but menu says 18%. No biggie if service met higher standards as expected. Manager-- side bar- explained we were not pleased with complete experience. Especially getting excuse from server saying they had been crazy busy so she could not give us the normal standard of service. He said he would share these mishaps with the team. That's great but he did not seem to care about addressing our unhappiness. Didn't ask questions--just adjusted the auto gratuity at 20% to 18%. Takeaways- Friendly hosts, server had a nice enough demeanor but maybe having an off day, table bread was good, prime rib was cooked good and well received. Salads were good, stuffed mushrooms were alright. Edamame, over steamed but alright. The Ahi was nothing to be excited about as it was mushy. Garlic mashed potatoes--good but what garlic? Green beans with corn-overcooked and over blanched-resembling canned or not fresh. Ribeye and NY were just bad maybe select grade quality at best. Tenderloin was just ok. New steak knives could help with tuff and mushy meat. Prime rib was good. read more

Beautiful restaurant, reception was friendly and we were seated quickly. Had the rest of the evening been as pleasant it would have been perfect. We were met by the waitress quickly yet felt rushed. She seemed extremely board and just dead. Very unfriendly and zero personality. Every question we asked about cocktail list was answered short and abrupt. Her demeanor was impersonal and left us feeling unwelcome. Same when asking about popular menu items and starters. We ordered SKEWERED BOURBON STREET TENDERLOIN to start, it was okay. The meat itself was tender but without the sauce it was flavorless. A little on the rare side, just something I would not advise ordering. I had the JUMBO SEA SCALLOPS AND GARLIC SAUTEED SHRIMP, again nothing to write home about, the scallops had zero color, no sear or crust very spongy and rubbery. The shrimp was tuff, no garlic flavor and I was happy to dip it in the butter to help it along. Had the salad, standard salad. Blue cheese dressing was memorable. The fully loaded baked potato was hard and the accompanying green beans tasted like frozen bag type. My partner ordered the ribeye steak that was cooked a nice medium rare, yet the cut itself was full of fat I felt that should have been trimmed more before cooking. It was good, however not for the price. He agreed with me on his potato and green beans. Just okay. Our server never returned to the table during the meal, she breezed by a few times as though our table was not her responsibility. A manager did appear going table to table asking how food was around us, yet our table was passed over. Our server did return as we were finished only then to ask if we needed a box. We opted out. Nope, don't was to revisit any part of this meal. About ten minutes later we had to flag her down for the check. Fargo's was recommended by word of mouth, I'm sure it was an off night, off staff, off whatever. Girls at the front are the stars of this restaurant. Will we go again? Probably not. My wife and I were in town and were celebrating our anniversary. We had hotel reservations in Sonoma but changed our plans to stay around Payson due to the wildfires that blocked access to our hotel. So, we're staying at a lodge in Payson and wanted to find some place to have a steak and a glass of wine. We ended up at Fargos and we sat out on the patio. It was a Tuesday night, so it wasn't very busy. We ordered the ribeye steaks and the cut of meat was not great. It came with vegetables that looked like they were pre frozen, along with a pint sized potato. The entire meal was just bland. I asked for some Tabasco to add some flavor and we never ended up getting it. Our waitress must have had other things on her mind because she ignored us for most of the time we were there. When it was time to get the check, she was nowhere to be found. When she finally came to take my card, she disappeared again and didn't return for another 15 minutes.when she returned, no "thanks for coming in" or "how was everything?". No pleasantries, nothing. Maybe she was just having a rough evening or that's just how she was with everyone, but it didn't leave the best impression. I met with a group of friends for lunch this week. We were seated immediately. The menu has so many options that it takes a while to decide. Our server was helpful and attentive. We never had to wait for refills, she was right on top of things. I had the open face prime rib sandwich, expecting a moderate piece of beef. We came here one the way home from pinetop to Phoenix and had a wonderful lunch! The service was quick, food delicious, and it was great to catch up with family that lives in the area. We had our kiddos with us and they offered a great kids menu, too. We started with the bang bang shrimp and they were so addicting! YUM. They have loads of sandwich options on their menu, but I went with the reuben and it was exactly what I was craving. Andrew was our waiter and was the coolest! Our food came out fast and we had 4-5 courses. They really build up your appetite. The bang bang shrimp was nothing like I ever tasted before. Very delicious and they give you a good portion to share. I shared with about 6 people. I enjoyed the salad I just wish it was on a bigger plate so I can toss it without struggling. Garlic mash was delicious they whip these bad boys into shape pun intended. Every plate comes with a butternut squash noodles, they are OK, nothing too crazy. Interesting choice. The filet was a fine piece of meat and the blackened salmon was delicious. Ask for lemon wedges as it only comes with the one sliced lemon for decoration . The dinner rolls were fresh and soft. This was the worst steakhouse experience I've had. The only reason I rated them 2 stars was for the friendly efficient wait staff. We ordered the 10oz top sirloin which had been sliced in half horizontally making it a whole 1/4" thick. It was atrocious. I ordered my steak Medium rare and got something south of well done. Don't waste your time or money here it is not worth it. They are trying to save money by cutting portions and quality. There are way better steak house restaurants near by. read more

Came here after a long day off-roading with my family. There was a 45 minute wait for inside seating but we were able to seat immediately outside. I had a glass of moscato which was very sweet and tasty. All of us ordered prime rib. The prime rib on the children's menu is incredibly priced for the portion you receive. Unfortunately my husband's dinner was brought out cold and our server did not come check on us until i had finished mine. We ended up just asking for a box to give to our dog. We were really disappointed with our experience here, especially after seeing so many similar reviews. The food quality was far below expectations for a steakhouse. I ordered a filet mignon medium, and my husband ordered a ribeye medium as well. His ribeye was extremely thin (about half an inch), had a ground-chuck texture, and was not enjoyable at all. My filet came out rare, and when we asked for it to be cooked a bit longer to reach medium, it was returned well done and jerky-like. The vegetables were watery, the shoestring fries were overly greasy, and the steaks lacked seasoning. Ironically, the best parts of the meal were the bread, salad, and soup....which shouldn't be the highlight at a steakhouse. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

I had heard such good things about this restaurant. Our waitress was MIA most of the meal. We ordered stuffed mushrooms that were not that great and the cheese was not really melted on the top. When we got our prime rib we realized after it was delivered we realized they didn't put any horseradish on the platters. We waited to eat for about 5 minutes to see if we could seek out our server.. we never did so we asked another server for help. When they brought the horseradish they only brought one for one of us. First time at Fargo's Steakhouse. We came from Phoenix for a day trip to Pine and Payson. We arrived at 5 PM on a May Saturday night and there was a 10 min wait. It actually only took 5 mins. As we were seated, we were given menus and our server, Aiden, followed right behind. He took our drink order and then gave us time to peruse the menu. There were several gluten free options, which helped. After a few, we ordered. My wife got the 12 oz ribeye, adding shrimp. It also came with vegetables, salad and a side. She added a glass of Chardonnay, while I got the featured dinner which was a NY strip. It too came with veg, a side and salad, plus two crab cakes on top of the steak. I added an iced tea. In all it came to $107.99 plus tip. Our dinner arrived in about 15 mins, just after we finished our salad. Her steak looked really good. It was also 12 oz and was cooked to her liking. My steak was a perfect medium rare and the pillowy crab cakes on top were just the right accompaniment. Whatever sauce was on the steak was to die for. They could've put it on a shoe and it would've tasted awesome. I wish I'd taken pics, because the plates were thoughtfully crafted, but I was too hungry. We will be returning to Fargo's Steakhouse. Fargo's is the closest thing to fine dining within a 50 mile radius of Payson. The people are really friendly and the facility is comfortable. We like to sit on the bar side where all the fun is. There are a couple TV's if you want to watch the big game. The bar selection is a bit short of what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant. There is not a great selection of top shelf brands, but the old standbys are there. My Rob Roy was disappointingly made with cherry juice and was poured directly into the glass without proper dilution. My wife's hot cocoa was well presented and executed. There is an extensive martini menu that I would like to try. Our food was excellent. We were dining in the early afternoon and ordered from the lunch menu. I had a great western burger with shoestring fries. The big burger was seasoned and cooked to the right temp. My wife enjoyed a green chile grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings. The chicken was juicy and the green chile was properly roasted and peeled. Delicious! Fargo's is really good and we recommend it highly. Summer months can be crowded, but the patio is usually open to compensate for the additional diners. Love the split plate option! New Years Day dinner on our way through Payson was nice! The wait wasn't too long, especially since we chose to sit at the bar and watch the end of the Rose Bowl. There was some nice quiet music playing in the background and the bartender was beautiful. The bartender was attentive and got us our drinks and food in a timely manner. We chose to eat the Fettuccini Alfredo with a side of Beef Vegetable soup, and the BLT salad along with a glass of Rose and the Crème Brûlée for dessert. All of the food was good. Nothing spectacular, but all good and all delivered without a long wait. Everyone from the hostess to the other diners were friendly and nice. Parking was great because we had a trailer and there was parking for us around the back of the lot. I'd go back if we were ever in town again. read more
