For a "historic location," it seems to be nothing but a lame dive bar. You think it's going to be a cool, neat place to visit, and it has just been trashed over the years. The owner should not be drinking from the bar supply They do NOT serve food. I ordered a drink, and it was all alcohol and no soda at all. VOMIT!! People here are all over drunk. One night, on June 21st, I was kicked off the premises by Mary and Kevin (who is not qualified security guard and has no guard no badge), because they were "closed," but yet they were throwing a "gay only" party during hours outside of operation. Plus, my boyfriend had a "penis," so we were not allowed in... There were plenty of males there.

Best baby back ribs we've ever had! Super friendly staff. We had a great time. Can't wait to come back.

Always a super fun time. Historic bar with tons of space. Would recommend for events, parties or just a night out.

Had a great night at the Oxbow last night. Played pool, listened to live music and everyone made us flat landers feel welcomed.

(3 stars - and that feels generous)…read more Let me start by saying this was our first visit -- and unfortunately, it will also be our last. You're fortunate to have thousands of people driving by, because I can't see many customers returning based on our experience. I'm honestly struggling to even give three stars. The restaurant itself is very nice, and the service was good. The staff were attentive and professional. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par -- especially for a steakhouse. I ordered the end cut of prime rib (only served on Saturdays), which I chose specifically because I usually love the extra flavor. This had absolutely zero flavor. No seasoning, no depth -- just bland meat. My husband ordered the grilled ribeye with shrimp and added garlic butter. His ribeye also had no flavor whatsoever -- even with the garlic butter. He ended up using some of my fresh horseradish and au jus just to give it some taste. The shrimp were equally disappointing -- completely bland. We also ordered the Saturday-only potatoes au gratin. They tasted like plain potatoes with salt. No richness, no cheesiness, no seasoning beyond that. For a steakhouse, flavor should be the highlight. Sadly, everything we tried lacked it. A beautiful restaurant and good service can't make up for food that simply doesn't deliver. Very disappointing experience

Overall, the service was good. We did ask for a quiet table but were seated by the kitchen, bathroom and a large group that was quite noisy. They did accommodate us and moved us. My husband ordered ribs and I had the barramundi. The clam chowder was delicious but my fish was overcooked to the point of being crunchy all around. I did send it back, which I rarely do. The replacement was delicious until I got to the center, which was undercooked. I ate around that part and did enjoy the meal because the flavor was delicious. I let the waitress know and she offered a free dessert. I declined but let her know that I hoped it got back to the kitchen. There is no need to rush when something is sent back. Overcooked or undercooked, it still was not properly prepared. I will eat here again but not the fish.

We enjoyed Easter Sunday breakfast at Crosswinds. Breakfast is served all day…read more We were seated promptly at a window where we had a great view of the Mogollon Rim and the airport runway, where small planes land and take off. We both had sunny side up eggs, bacon, hash browns, corned beef hash, delicious fluffy pancakes and bottomless coffee. Everything was piping hot and delicious. They also have a full menu for lunch and dinner. The burgers served at the table next to us looked awesome. This place reminded us of a typical diner back east in New Jersey: happy servers, plentiful and delicious hot and fresh food, great coffee and fresh baked home made pie. So if you find yourself in Payson and need a great meal with a family friendly vibe, go to Crosswinds. They have plenty of free parking too.

As for the food, it was a bit hit or miss. The bacon was delicious, but the chicken fried steak left a lot to be desired. It had a very flour-heavy taste and not much flavor overall. I wouldn't order that again. The French toast was pretty good, though nothing especially memorable. We grabbed a few pies to go and are looking forward to trying them. I'll update my review once we've had a chance to taste those. Overall, I wouldn't say the food was "great," but the unique airport atmosphere and good service made it a decent experience.

My husband got the Birria tacos and consume. I had those last time he had them this time they are amazing super flavorful. I switched it up this time and got the enchilada trio. When they walked up with the plate I was in shock the plate was three times the size of my head. Those may have been the best enchiladas I've ever had. I'm very picky with my sauces. Trying enchiladas are always a staple for me that determines a restaurant for me. I usually like a darker red sauce. It was a little orange and surprisingly very pleasant very flavorful first time I've ever liked an orange sauce. The creamy white sauce was so flavorful and might've been my favorite enchilada. I've never been a green sauce girly but there's is absolutely delicious. The rice was a little bland for me but the beans were delicious. Our service was very attentive and food came out quick. I love the ambience there. Everything is wood lots of things to look at very laid-back and very welcominga bit western too . I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in town at Payson!

The burrito was easily the smallest one I've ever seen. Just meat in a tortilla. Very blah. My wife had the enchilada special, but really nothing special, you can easily get meals like this or better at "order at the counter" style Mexican restaurants. Not crowded at all at prime lunchtime hour which should have told us something.
