I've heard good things about this place. Last night, I ordered the garlic beef entree and the meal was to-go. I got home and was very disappointed to see that I had only what looked like a partial order. The plastic container was only half filled with only a few strips of steak and mostly broccoli stems. The worst Thai food I ever ate, and believe me.... I know my Thai food. My friend and I ordered one Pad Kee Mao and the second, Ginger lover dish.... Both the dishes were very watery.... Almost like a soup and unappetizing.... The PadKeeMao also had shrimp.... Some of the shrimps were really cold and some hot in temperature... they were all smelly and not fresh. The waiter offered us a different dish however, by then we lost our appetite....so we ate nothing and went next door for our lunch.... After paying the hefty bill of 35 for both the dishes. Pleasantly surprised with this discovery. Stumbled upon here after trying to hit up the local food cart pod and finding nearly every cart closed. There's obviously no shortage of Thai restaurants in Portland, and thought this would be the typical run-of-the-mill Thai joint. I'm a slut for whole deep-fried fish, so of course I had to order it when I saw it on the menu. Def the highlight of the meal and prob one of the better fish dishes I've had in Portland, period. It's NOT tilapia, it's reasonably priced, and it's flavored with a ton of fresh herbs instead of just being sauced. The deep fried chicken wings were also good and the pad eggplant with shrimp was fine, nothing to write home about. But I will come back again solely for the fish. read more

Thai Seasons seems to be on the decline. Last night we ordered the peek gai thawt -- deep fried chicken wings carmelized with sweet and salty sauce. Unfotunately this was a carry-out order. What we got after we arrived home weren't actual chicken wings but larger assorted pieces of chicken, a few of which were undercooked and fatty and bloody. Had we been served this in the restaurant we would have sent the food back. Nothing really deep fried here, and the chicken pieces lacked the usual sweet and salty sauce. My 2017 review of Thai Seasons was 5 stars, then in 2021 I updated it down to 3 stars, now they're down to 2. Good restaurants serve good food consistently. read more

Although this restaurant has been in business for ten years, we only recently discovered thanks to friends. We now visit a 2-4 times per month. It is not the most elegant place, but it is homey with pleasant service. Everything we have eaten there is good. Check it out. If you like Thai food, it is some of the best around. This Thai food was fantastic! The potstickers were some of the best that I've had in NE Portland. The addition of peanuts in the dipping sauce was something i've never seen anywhere else before, but it was phenomenal! Both of the noodle dishes were also very good, all the noodles were a consistent texture and had a lot of flavor. We were the only people in the restaurant when we went in, but it was super cute inside and they have a huge parking lot. You know when you walk into this place you are in for a treat... the wonderful smells of the spices in the delicious food being prepared welcome your olfactory senses from the moment you walk in the door. I can tell you, what comes next doesn't disappoint. We had a mango curry dish and drunken noodles, and man I am telling you there are not many places in town with better drunken noodles. There are probably more Thai restaurants/carts than any other cuisine (save hamburgers) in town, some would say a glut. Thai Seasons is probably my favorite. They do employ a semi-fusion approach so purists be forewarned. Their Thai Beef Salad is my go to, perfect when you're craving a healthy protein, veggie and non carb-laden meal. The greens are chopped fine, so no big pieces of Iceberg lettuce like at the place next door. We also enjoyed a creative and ample Spinach noodle bowl; I don't remember seeing this dish on other Thai menus. I'm a huge fried rice aficionado and the version here closely rivals delicious Indonesian Nasi Goring. Fresh and favorable and good sized portions, but not too big at the expense of quality (think Saburos.) One weakness: they need to pep up their spice level as they're definitely catering to gentle palettes. Or at least add more options to the hot sauce selection. The Thai Ice Tea with tamarind sounds better than it tasted, a pass on that in the future. There's an elevated feel to the place, much more so than most of their competitors. Service is friendly as is the case at most Thai places. Parking is rarely an issue. read more

I've been here several times over the years so I'm not a stranger to this place. Me and my housemate were craving Thai food. So I suggested this place from memories of the food being pretty good. We both ordered papaya salads, and my housemate got Pad Thai w/glass noodles shrimp and shrimp tempura. Me, I got pumpkin curry and fresh rolls with tofu. We are both big fans of papaya salads. Thai Seasons take on it was for me slightly above average but we both were missing any spice. Despite having requested medium heat. My housemate thought it had a sour taste to it. He enjoyed the pad Thai said it tasted fine but didn't care for the shrimp said they were smaller then what he normally likes. Not sure if he said any thing about the taste. But he did say the pad Thai tasted fine. Same with the shrimp tempura he said they were fine as well as the dipping sauce. pumkin curry was very fine a good assortment of veggies as well as pumpkin and nothing was over cooked as well the flavor was pleasant. Tofu salad rolls were great. Peanut dipping sauce was very thick however it tasted fine. They brought me a tray of different chilli sauces but they really didn't have any spice to them. Which brings me to the conclusion that both myself and my housemate had. None of our food had any spice. The food would have been that much better if their had been some good spice. The young gentleman waiter was very efficient. I felt bad for him as he was juggling take away orders and attending to the whole dinning room all by himself. I was in Portland for a health treatment and had to have a special diet. I could only drink broth. I went to Thai Seasons to ask for their help, because I trust the ingredients they put in their food. They were so kind to me and prepared a Tom Ka broth and a chicken broth for me. My sister's been telling us for years that this place is pretty good, and I'm mad at myself for not taking her suggestion sooner. Usually our go-to Thai place is Cha-Ba Thai, which is right next door; never thought to walk over here. This is some of the best Thai I've had in Portland. The atmosphere is quieter and relaxing and the service is very friendly. The space is open and fresh too. The salad rolls were great. My sister got the Pas See Ew and I got the Khao Soi. Best Khao Soi I've ever had, hands down. The broth was rich without being too overpowering; I didn't feel stuffed or sluggish afterwards. Plus, I could taste the actual flavors behind the creamy broth. It was light, but satisfying, and just the right amount of spicy! I also had a bite (or ten) of my sister's Pad See Ew and that was equally as delicious. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and they didn't stick together like they usually do. It also was spiced well; I've had experiences where the dish is too salty, but this was perfect. Will definitely be coming here from now on! I ordered the Pad Thai, not because that's my favorite dish but because I think it can say a lot about a place. On the plus side, the Pad Thai had great flavor. On the minus side, it was SUPER oily. I took my leftovers to go, and by the time I got home the oil had soaked through the box AND the bag that the box was in. When I lived in this neighborhood, I ordered a few items from the menu. I ordered To Go each time. I walked to my house nearby from the nearby TriMet bus stop. There aren't any eggrolls. I waited about 15 minutes for my To Go orders to be ready and packaged. I didn't get a bag. I ended up going on the TriMet bus back to my house. I was pregnant... so I wasn't in a good mood or I might have been hangry (hungry + angry = hangry). I wasn't treated badly... I just wasn't in a good mood. I did like some of the dishes more... but, I was told that the cook didn't know how to cook some of the entrees yet... so a few substitutions had to be made. I noticed that the entryway had a big bouquet of flowers and a few of the older white people who arrived after I did didn't like my hair... they mentioned to me that I needed to go to a salon. I told the server who took my orders that I thought random hurtful comments about my Afro were uncalled for by everyone. The server agreed with me. I was given a seat inside to wait for my meal to be ready. I was given a "free wonton soup" once because of the random hurtful comments from the other people who walked in behind me. I called PPB (Portland Police Bureau) and gave the license plate of the people who had been harassing me. She mentioned her first and last name... but,... she could've been lying about those. Whatever the case may be... she should take medication or something. I decided to arrive on a different afternoon... and she wasn't there then. A couple of things make Thai Seasons stand out from the myriad of Thai restaurants in Portland. They notably use local ingredients, and their sources are the kind that make you comfortable ingesting their dishes (Carlton Farms pork, Draper Valley chicken . . .) We also dined with a couple with specific food requirements. Requests to leave out salty ingredients often fall on deaf ears, but at Thai Seasons they accommodated their special needs quickly, clearly and without complaint. Service was attentive, and everything was made to order, resulting in exceptionally fresh plates. The interior is comfortable without being fancy in any way, so I would not consider this to be especially romantic, but for a good-tasting Thai meal made to order out of fresh, local, sustainable ingredients it's a hit. read more

Having moved down to Portland from Seattle a year ago, I've struggled to find Thai food that lived up to my favorite restaurants up North. After Pad Thais untold and curries unnumbered, at last I found Thai Seasons. Everything I've tried has been excellent, but the clincher for me is their Crispy Chicken (listed as a special on their chalk board, I pray it will never be erased!), the only good facsimile I've found of the Seattle staple Crispy Garlic Chicken (aka Crack Chicken) made famous by Buddha Ruksa in West Seattle.
