Chicken pad thai, Red Curry Bowl, Pad See Ew Noodles
    Kayla P.

This was my first time at Full Moon Thai, and although I enjoyed it, I cannot say I had a faultless experience. To be fair, I had come as part of a very large group, so I want to acknowledge that this would likely strain the staff. However, the service I experienced left something to be desired. We had originally ordered the chicken pad thai, but we were served the surprise pad thai, which has different noodles and protein. When we told the waitress, we were not met with a very hospitable response--she essentially told us that it was what we ordered, and that the kitchen staff already made it, so she couldn't just take it back. I found this response, along with her agitated tone, to be somewhat off-putting, especially since we definitely did not order it incorrectly. After a little back and forth, she eventually did exchange it for the correct dish. Besides this little mishap, the food itself was rather good, and it definitely hits the spot. The portion sizes were also great. I recommend ordering as a group so that you can try different dishes and flavors. We had a curry dish, pad thai, and pad see ew. I think I would skip on the curry, but I did like the pad thai. The restaurant itself is rather small, but they do have inside and outside seating. If going as a big group, I definitely recommend calling ahead to RSVP. I would describe the ambiance as cozy and intimate. Overall, a pretty solid restaurant! The service initially left a bad taste, but the food made up for most of that!

So my 20yo kid comes into my work from home office, at 4, while I am working, saying "Mom, I NEED Thai foood." The kid has been so sick lately and not eating much at all, so I caved. "Ok, order Door Dash. Go ahead." Kid chose Full Moon Thai because of its high ratings and free delivery. Door Dash is still spendy, don't get me wrong, but this was a good choice. Full Moon is nowhere near us and the food still arrived quickly. It was hot and fresh. It was pretty perfect. Kid ordered tofu salad rolls and was dazzled by them not falling apart and being delicious. There was an expensive but refreshing Thai iced tea the kid said was very good. Kid ordered the All in one combination appetizer platter with 4 crab rangoon ( yummy) 2 chicken satay (delicious), 2 spring rolls ( basic) and 4 wontons ( good!) that came with multiple sauces. I have no idea how the sauces were, kid ate them all which probably means they were tasty. I wish there had been more chicken satay because one was not enough. Kid ordered chicken pad see ew and reportedly was satisfied. Kid ordered pork pad see ew for me which I ate cold after work at 7. I still have not found the microwave in our pile of boxes. I did find chopsticks though! Anyway. It was delicious. The noodles were perfect, it had that smoky wok hei thing going on, and the pork was pretty tasty. There were a lot of caramelized carrots and four pieces of broccoli. It could have had more broccoli but I am not going to nitpik, it was too good. We had another pad see ew recently that was pretty mediocre and this one shined like a diamond in comparison. So, Full Moon Thai is a big yes. Sorry I only got one photo. :) Too busy eating.

I absolutely love the food here. One of our go-tos for takeout. And ordering online is great because its easy to add or take away ingredients - like add more broccoli or no tomatoes, please. The restaurant is divided into a few sections- a counter area where you pick up to go orders and the dining room has been divided into dining and storage which doesn't feel the most comfortable to me. But, the table service is quick and efficient. I ordered the margarita and I will skip it next time. Street parking and bathroom in the back.

    Yellow curry

I was very disappointed with the food that I ordered here!! The "Yellow Curry" didn't taste right, or look right. The "Orange Chicken" was REALLY dry, and at the bottom of the container there was a bunch of liquid so everything was soggy at the bottom. The "sticky rice" was such a small amount I was very surprised, and then once I put it onto my plate I realized it was EXTREMELY rock hard. I couldn't eat it. I called the restaurant and talked with a lady and the customer service was really good, she was friendly and understanding.

Chicken Pad Kee Mao and salad rolls

Pad Kee Mao. Definitely my favorite Thai dish, however, from Full Moon, it was just ok. The flavor was fine, but somewhat blah. It lacked pizzazz. It was medium spice, which is what I always get. I'd say that was accurate, but again the dish was simply average. Nothing special at all. The portion size was very good and the ingredients seemed fresh, but I had to add my own sauces to it to give it the punch and flavor I desire. The salad roles and peanut sauce were good though. It had been several years since I ordered food from Full Moon. With all the delicious Thai food options in Portland, it will likely be several years more...

Inside was clean, bright and decorated nicely.

Between the vibrant energy, outstanding service, and incredible depth of flavor across every single plate, it completely lives up to its reputation. Arranged Marriage Cocktail (5/5): A super fun, balanced drink with a great zing and zest from the ginger and lemon that lightens up the richness of the amaro without feeling overwhelming. Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken (5/5): Ordered the small portion (6 pieces of boneless fried chicken), which served as a perfect crisp starter. The chicken is juicy, crispy, and packed with flavor. It was great either as an extra side of protein or a standalone dish. White Curry with Brisket Burnt-Ends (5/5): While $24 might initially seem a bit steep for curry, it's worth every penny and all the hype. The curry base features a rich coconut flavor paired with a surprisingly comfortable heat. It was loaded with tender and flavorful brisket burnt-ends along with huge cauliflower florets. Smoked Pork Krapao (5/5): super well-balanced. The smoked savoriness of the tender pork pairs with a crispy fried egg, fresh veggies, and the deep umami saltiness of the fish sauce. Logistics Tip: Expect a lively, energetic atmosphere with upbeat music that gives the restaurant a fun club-like vibe. A Friday evening visit for a party of two surprisingly had a quick 30-minute wait, which is easily spent exploring the safe, walkable neighborhood until we got a text notification. Both main entrees include a generous side of rice, making the meal very filling. Parking in the immediate area is somewhat limited, so plan to park a block or two down the road.

We ended up seating outside on the patio at a table for four with an extra chair. The inside of the restaurant can get pretty loud, so if you're looking for a more quiet dining experience, I would certainly recommend requesting a table outdoors. Between the five of us, we ordered a large order of their BBQ fried rice, a large order of their sweet and sour fried chicken, white curry with brisket burnt ends, and wok fried yu choy. This ended up being plenty of food and we even had leftovers to take home as well. If you need any recommendations from the menu, your server will be more than happy to provide options. Of the dishes we ordered, the one I enjoyed the most was the sweet and sour fried chicken. The boneless chicken thighs were incredibly juicy and the exterior was craggly, crispy, crunchy and well-seasoned. Like good fried chicken, the dish did not taste oily at all. The other dish I really enjoyed was the brisket fried rice. You really can taste the "wok hei" in this dish. There's a smokey, charred flavor in every bite and they're really generous with how much brisket is used in the dish as well. The only critique I had food-wise is I thought the burnt ends in the white curry were a bit dry and a little tough. The cut of brisket was too lean so it didn't have the melt in your mouth texture you typically associate with slow cooked BBQ. That said, my experience as a whole at Eem was otherwise incredible. Service was fantastic, cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and pricing was well in line with expectations. Definitely would stop by again for a meal.

You can watch them frying the roti in front of you, they have a great flavor (they're a bit on the thick side), and the curry is absolutely sublime, with an incredible depth of spices without being hot. I also really enjoyed the freshness and textural blend of the "rice salad," with great cucumbers and herbs, although it was too spicy for my dining companions. I admit I didn't think the fried chicken was anything special--the chicken was moist (even the white meat), but the outside could have been crunchier. But I'm not the biggest expert in fried chicken, nor in pad thai, and both were certainly competent even if not as exceptional. Sticky rice was also cooked perfectly.
