The food is really good and the place is charming but the service is spotty. There is one server in particular that just seemed clueless as to what is considered good service and what is inappropriate. There was a table for four next to us and 3 people were seated there. Our server brought us our food and set the platter our food on their table, I watched the 3 girls look up at him surprised as he acted like they weren't even there and was transfering the food from the platter to our table. It was shocking and rude. I think they were short staffed in the kitchen and so the timing of our food being brought out was weird. Appetizers and half our meals while mu poor hubs was waiting another 10 min for his order. It was just odd, but the food was and is always good.

Always on the lookout for a new Thai place to check out, and dropped in to Thai Pod after a recommendation from a friend. Did NOT disappoint! Quiet little place, plenty of seating. Looks like they do way more take out business than dine-in. The service was attentive and pleasant but the food was AMAZING. I have a soft spot for a place that will actually up the spice level when you ask for it. Not only was I impressed with the spice levels, but the flavor of the food was great. Big servings, nice ratios of veggies and meat, and really good chili oil on the table. The server thought it was house made, and I'd believe it. Great flavor, great heat. Will for sure drop back in to this place. Big fan after one visit.

    Cashew nut with tofu

Pumkin curry with mixed veggies. And cashew nut stir fry. Couldnt find the pumkin and barely any mixed veggies i requested hot for heat level and it was just sweet, lastly portion was small. Same with cashew nut with tofu and veggies portion was ridiculously small and the sauce reminded me of a sweet syrup. I had requested hot but it was so overly sweet i couldnt finish eating it... this is one place to skip. Im sorry but come on do better... i spent $35 for food that i couldnt even finish. And i left feeling hungry.... the lady or owner was trying her best to be at least cordial with me. But as i was asking her questions she was answering me in a dismissive way. Thats the only way i can describe it. She didnt want to look at me. Until i paused waiting for her to pull her gaze away from the till. But im sorry she just seemed very annoyed with my questions. I kind of feel bad. Her son was sitting there. Perhaps ten yrs old .. and obviously he loves his mum... but hello mum get better cooks.. give normal decent potions.. put some love and care into your food. Peace and God bless you and your family.

It was my first time eating at this restaurant and I highly recommend it. The service is phenomenal, our server was attentive and provided us with water whenever we needed it. The place was warm, clean and cozy. The food was delicious and enough that it lasted me to the next day! I had the panang curry and it was the perfect level of spicy and sweet. I would come back again!

What an improvement! I used to live in the neighborhood and wasn't that impressed so I used to drive miles to get good Thai food. Tried them again recently and I'm so impressed! They have completely upped their game! After getting my hair done a few doors down, I decided to pick up dinner so that I didn't have to cook in this heat. The Pad Kee Mao was fabulous! It's one of my favorite dishes and I can't believe that I've been searching and driving all over Portland to find a version of this very common dish that's better than I make, and it's right here on NE Broadway! The wide rice noodles are stir fried with onion, peppers, fresh basil and egg. A symphony of flavors plus some heat. After that, I had to come back and try some other dishes. They even have Pad Woon Sen, which not many Thai restaurants have in the menu. It's a stir fry noodle dish made with thin mung bean noodles along with carrots, green onions, cabbage, bell peppers and tomatoes. Another winner! The perfect balance and harmony of textures and flavors. The thin noodles are a refreshing change andthey are gluten free. Their Penang curry (with green beans and some heat) and Mussaman curry (with ground peanuts) are both fabulous. I'm so glad I decided to give Thai Pod another try. Definitely some of the best, most flavorful Thai food in Portland. Casual ambiance inside, bright colorful chairs and tables outside. Fun and festive vibe. Friendly service. Even though I don't live in Grant Park anymore, I'm over there most every day since I still go to the gym and run errands in this neighborhood. After 17 years, old habits hard to break! This is now on my weekly or biweekly rotation for when I don't feel like cooking and want a delicious and satisfying dinner. With leftovers for the next day!

My girlfriend and I both had pad see ew with chicken for dinner and it was delicious! I can honestly say this is one of the best pad see ew dishes I've ever had. The flavors were amazing. The portion was great for the price, too which is always nice haha we both only got about halfway through and had to take the rest home. It tasted just as great later in the evening as well. The egg rolls were really good too as well as the thai tea. Our server was incredibly nice and charismatic. I wish I had gotten his name, but he was really attentive and kind. The restaurant was really nice as well with plenty of seating.

( guy in glasses) we came here for my husbands birthday and it was amazing service and food. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left everything was great!! The drinks were delicious. We were glad we came when we did...anyway, onto the food+drink! -Life of Luxury Cocktail, this thing was served in a HUGE fish cup, lol! Bigger than my hand/as big as my face. It's on the sweet side, but I needed something sweet as a buffer since some of the dishes we ordered were a bit too salty. -Thai-Style Ceviche, 11/10. No friggin' notes. I highly recommend. Portion is a bit small, because I could have eaten MORE. -Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken was decent. We ordered the Small and it was about 5-6 boneless pieces. Very unique. I recommend to try if you like fried chicken. -Wok-Fried Yu Choy was wayyyy tooooo salty. Hubs & I wanted some greens and it was fried with generous amounts of garlic, but it just got saltier and saltier as we ate it. -White Curry w/ Brisket Burnt Ends, this dish was a little bit of a mixed bag. The white curry (roasted cauliflower + coconut cream) was delicious, but did it pair well with the Brisket Burnt Ends? Not really IMO. I don't think the flavors match. I'm not exactly sure what would pair well with the white curry, maybe some veg or tofu...but BBQ fusion with the curry wasn't the best. 2 unisex restrooms available, the one I used was clean. Service was a little scattered. We got the Yu-Choy first, followed by the ceviche a few minutes later. But the Fried Chicken and White Curry took a while to come (about another 10-15 mins. to come). We were lucky to find some street parking in the neighborhood nearby.

Khao Moo Dang Pi-Set (5/5): Upgrading to the Pi-Set is worth the extra $3, which comes with all the standard options plus extra eggs, juicy dumplings, tender yu choy, and a side of bone broth. The five-spice pork is super tender and tastes very similar to char siu. The pork belly had a great crunch and was perfectly salty, which contrasted well with the sweet Chinese sausage. The dumplings are really juicy and justify the upgrade on its own, in addition to complementing the side of bone broth. Everything ties together when coated in their signature Khao Moo Dang sauce, which rounds out the rich meats with the perfect amount of sweetness. Logistics Tip: Takeout packaging holds up well, keeping the crispy pork belly from getting soggy on the ride home while ensuring the broth stays piping hot. Upgrading to the Pi-Set version further improves an already generous meal into an expansive dish that can easily satisfy a huge appetite.

The friendly staff promptly showed us to our table. A QR code stood in for the menu, an arrangement I tolerate rather than celebrate. One quick request produced printed menus and restored diplomatic relations. We began with shrimp salad rolls, which arrived remarkably quickly, with crisp, fresh vegetables. The accompanying peanut sauce was flavorful without being thick or ponderous. Frankly, the only thing preventing me from drinking it was a lingering respect for table manners. My spouse ordered the Egg Noodle & Basil Stir-Fry, generously loaded with shrimp. I chose the House Thai Peacock Curry with tofu. Its combination of Panang curry and peanut sauce was rich and intriguing, with just enough spice to keep each bite interesting without turning dinner into a test of character. The food arrived quickly, our server remained friendly, and the lively atmosphere made Thai Peacock an excellent choice before a show at Portland Center Stage. The restaurant we remembered fondly is now firmly back on our list. Thai Peacock earned an encore.

How do I know about this restaurant?…read more For a very brief period of time, I decided to DoorDash... on a bicycle. It was very brief, due to the fact that Portland's hills are... well, I'm in a good shape, but I won't be in the Tour De France. A side benefit is that I learned where a lot of good food in Portland resides: Thai Peacock and Little Peacock made up a fair amount of my orders. How much do I like Thai? So much that I learned to make it myself, and I make a better than average Pad See Ew/Kee Mao... So when it came time for a lunch break, well, I couldn't wait to order from Thai Peacock. I got the Pad Ka Phrao (there was not an option for super hot / Thai hot... my one complaint about their system... more on that in a minute)... and started walking. It was easy to pick up, well labeled, and hot when I arrived. The reusable bowl (for the paper bag crowd who are taking notes.. this is Portland ya know)... was full of delicious meat and vegetables. The rice was packed separately, along with the single serving of added sriracha. The serving was more than generous, and good in its preparation. There are some caveats here: Thai Peacock does not make their dishes in the same way that many other Thai restaurants do... they do it with minimal ingredients, hoping you'll add on vegetables. It gets annoying when you're looking at ordering pad se ew, and you might otherwise get a similar dish for $7-$10 cheaper. The lack of an ability to add additional heat is also unwelcome. However, I understand that each Thai restaurant has its own way of making a specific dish. The generous portions make the bare bones dish a good value, if not the best representation of the dish I've had. This would be 5* for a group meal (no shortage of options, and consistent service), and 4* based on comparison to other Thai dishes at similar price points I've had. 5* here based on what most people would likely say. An extremely reliable restaurant with tasty food and generous portions deserves it.
