Delish. Sesame chicken, string beans, house broccoli and house fried rice
Zach S.

Favorite Chinese takeout cuisine right here, look no further in the St John's NOPO area. The sesame chicken and green beans (medium spice) were the star for our meal. I've never had house fried rice it contains all the meat but I'll probably just do veggies or one meat next time. The Lo mein I recommend for the noodle fans as it's smaller noddles and tasty. They forgot the fortune cookies last time so make sure to ask haha. I'm gonna have to compare: -generals chicken vs orange vs sesame chicken and report back bc all 3 are choice from here. Really can't go wrong. Takes about 15mins every time we do take out. It's really worth the short drive! Must must try. I think you will thank me!!

You know that delicious smoky flavor and aroma that results from cooking in a wok? That's when you know you're eating something legit. You won't find that here. The flavors are bland and the sauces straight from Sysco. I've given them 3 chances, but they disappoint every time. They're not awful, but NOT GOOD either. Someone previously reviewed them as spectacular. Bruh. I'm giving that reviewer Don vibes.

Didn't get to dine in the space but ordered ahead for dinner on a weekend and only a 15-20 minute wait. By the time we came to pick up the order was already ready which was great! There were some spots in the front but driving around it looks like there might be parking in the back? Will need to check another time. | WHAT WE ORDERED | + Mongolian Beef + House Fried Rice + Chicken Lo Mein Noodles + Salt & Pepper Squid I saw the wontons & chili sauce and hot & sour soup on the menu so I have those bookmarked to try another time. For the above it was ~$60 with tip so not the cheapest Chinese food around but it can last two people 2-3 meals each so not too bad when you think of it that way. _________________ All of the items were really solid to order! The squid came in longer/thicker strips but had a great crisp and was still crispy hours later. The house fried rice was seasoned well and had nice chunks of the various proteins and was not skimpy at all. The mongolian beef was your standard but the cuts were on the thinner side. Nice veggies and crunch but might try another beef next time. Lastly the noodles had me hesitant at first as they were on the lighter side but after trying them they had good flavor and paired well with the chicken. Overall $60 does sound pricey but the items were good and had nice portions where the price was justified.

There's lots of seating and we came at a Thursday for lunch and it wasn't too packed. I had the Vietnamese Coffee flight to try out all the different ones, and the Ube cafe sua da was by far the best. I had the Vietnamese sizzling plate with baguettes and it was very good. The flavor is a little bit on the stronger side, but that's what I like so it was perfect for me and the portion was surprisingly enough even though it looked a little small coming out. Highly recommend eating it with with the baguette because dipping into the sauce was delicious. Look forward to coming for dinner sometime to try more!

It wasn't too busy, and we had a big party; really appreciated that they gave the celebrants complimentary desserts, which was a nice touch. The pandan rice cake with ube ice cream was a my favorite. We called earlier and they got reservations available to be made. The pho was perfect for the chilly weather. The broth was strong and flavorful, and the chicken was cooked well. My friend got the noodles with crispy chicken and mushrooms, and those were phenomenal. The Vietnamese platter would honestly make a perfect date-night meal. This has great variety and fun to share. The fries and wings were flavorful appetizers and a great way to start the meal. Service was great overall, but a bit hands-off after the food was served. I don't remember anyone checking back in on us. Nothing was wrong with the food, but it would've been nice to have that quick follow-up. Would definitely come back, especially to check out their brunch next time.

My friend who has had Filipino food before commented that the spring rolls tasted like pancit a bit. Haha. Not sure if that's just in her head but they were delicious nonetheless. Party of four and we had the ribs, egg rolls, green beans, tacos, pho and one other soup noodle dish I forgot the name of. They were all excellent. The staff was amazing. One lady with dark long hair was helpful and friendly. This will be a place that I will frequent. Priced right, good food, great ambiance and friendly/helpful staff. Can't ask for much more than this. Oh wait, maybe something ube.

PARKING: Street parking but we were here over the weekend so we parked in the lot for ACE and the bank since there wasn't any street parking open. There were no signs saying we couldn't so take this with a grain of salt. AMBIANCE: Inside the taphouse had plenty of seating both bar and table. The patio was really nice because it was really sunny outside. They allow dogs outside and my little buddy had a good time being out with us. There was plenty of seating, long tables good for groups. Also they were able to pull down the shades since it was actually quite warm despite the cool weather. Casual and easy vibes here. FOOD: - Pork Belly Skewer: Savour and sweet and fatty in all the right ways. Delicious. Green sauce enhanced the flavours as well. - Mino Banh Xeo Tacos: The combo I never new I needed. The shells crispy and the pork/shrimp filling was so flavourful. Loved the calamansi fish sauce with it. ALSO, the Vietnamese herbs made this taste just like banh Xeo in a really yummy way. - Cha Gio Spring Rolls: Crispy and delicious. Filling was yummy and the fish sauce added some fresh sour notes. - Fish Sauce Wings: Sticky and ooey gooey goodness. Not too salty and not too sweet. Overall a solid chicken wing. - Fried Tofu Bites: These were okay. Nothing much to be said about them. - Drinks: We had a Helvetia which was crisp and slightly sweet. A good solid cider with peach and blackberry flavours. Definitely enjoyed. SERVICE: A lot of it was self serve. Go in and order and then they give you a buzzer when your order is ready. The tables outside were pretty dirty and sticky. Also make sure to clean off your own table. Staff was nice but we didn't interact much with them since we sat outside. OVERALL: Really enjoyable place. Solid food and we love a queer and Asian inspired place. Love love love. My husband and I will certainly be back.
