Such an amazing restaurant for a vegan!! Been living in Rochester for 2+ years and FINALLY decided to visit this restaurant. This mocktail was the best thing I've ever drank and you MUST try the tofu!! The plants around the place makes this so insta worthy and such cute vibes. The waitress answered all our questions. My non vegan family members also enjoyed their meal. The total was around $90 for four people. Such a great restaurant all through out and highly recommend stopping here when you get the chance! read more

Man this place is great!!!!! And I love my Thai food. Upscale Thai with healthy options. It's for sure worth the price. Serving sizes are big and could easily split dishes. Tom kha and curry rice noodle are what I've had so far and I'll be coming back a third time. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised and very impressed by this restaurant. From the very charming interior filled with plants to the incredibly delicious food, we think it surpasses high end Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities. The food was incredibly flavorful, interesting and the menu was large enough for us to want to come back many times, whenever we are in Rochester. The portions are very generous so one entree would be enough for two people. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

4.33* (out of 5) Food: n/a Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* 03/02/2023 This place was directly across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn where we were staying and since we didn't stop here for dinner, we stopped here for an after-dinner cocktail on the way back to our room. Given our penchant for unique cocktails and my love of spicy and smokey drinks, we really enjoyed our stop (see cocktail pictures below). Our server was very friendly and helpful relative to helping us find a great cocktail for our tastes and in addition to enjoying the drinks, we had great conversation with a couple of people at the bar. The food that was being served while we were there looked and smelled delicious, so we look forward to stopping back here for dinner sometime on another visit. This is a gorgeously decorated, colorful place. We immediately felt welcomed. The drink menu had great variety and our drinks were refreshing and delicious. Their menu clearly notes which options are gluten free. We started with calamari and Brussels sprouts, then shared the house curry with shrimp. It was spicy like they said, but not too spicy. It made for great leftovers too! read more

My food was very good, I got the pad see ew. It was a suggestion of the bar tender. It came with the spice on the side. I appreciate the attentiveness and kindness of the bar staff. I also got a Sweet Annie B cocktail. Really delicious, sweet bourbon drink. The energy of the restaurant was great. Will be back next time I'm in Rochester. read more

Best Thai food in Rochester 100%. Will keep coming back until I try everything on the menu. I have been there at least 5 times and each time a 5 star experience. Service is quick and friendly. The restaurant looks absolutely gorgeous inside. You'll be missing out if you order to-go. read more

A popping restaurant even on a weekday night. Tried their house curry noodles which were good but bit lacking in flavor. However the service was topnotch despite it being busy. Have a good selection of cocktails and mocktails. read more

Had another great celebratory meal with a buddy. The food was amazing. Salt & Pepper Shrimp Pork Belly appetizer Thai Basil Stir Fry entree large enough to split. Great atmosphere mostly created by the soundtrack which was totally on point. The service, as always, was well staged and not rushed even though we were the last table to leave at 9:15. Will definitely be back. read more

I was surprised by how authentically Thai the food at this restaurant was compared to other Asian restaurants in Rochester. I loved both dishes that I got: the Son-in-Law fried boil egg in a tamarind sauce & an extra-spicy (per request) house curry with brisket. Staff was very nice and checked in on you throughout the meal. Service was 5/5! Son-in-Law eggs (4/5): The pickled red onion and cucumber with fresh chilies paired so well with the sweet and savory tamarind sauce. It made for a perfect bite with the fried boiled egg, which was not overly-fried. I feel like a lot of restaurants overly-fry their boiled eggs which creates a rough rubbery outer layer but Thai Pop got this one right in my opinion. House Curry w/ Brisket (5/5): Although the House Curry base itself was nothing standout compared to other Thai restaurant curries, it was still very delicious. The part that upped this dish to a 5/5 for me was the quality of the brisket. I've never had a brisket beef cut inside a Thai curry before, and it was a perfect pairing. The brisket was super tender and soft, soaking up the curry so well. It came with evenly-cooked rice too :) read more

I am a huge fan of Thai food and my favorite is Tom Yum soup. I try it at every new place I visit. I cook it myself and well know the recipe and very unique taste of it if it has right ingredients, like fish sauce, galangal root and Kafir lime leaves. It doesnt have onion. Galangal root- small part of it- and Kafir leaves normally present in the bowl for a flavor and for authentic look. Unfortunately, none of those were present in the soup I had today.((( read more

I have been going here since it opened and I have yet to try anything I don't like! Food is very flavorful and has authentic flavors and presentations. The fried shrimps, fried chicken, Brussel sprouts, tofu laab, crying tiger steak, and curry fried rice are items I have tried and recommend to anyone looking for something full of crunch and flavor. The servers are well trained and educated on the menu. As a plant lover, the ambiance is very calming and refreshing. Thai Pop has beautiful indoor plants and patio plants during the summer season. read more

This spot came highly recommended from several folks I chatted with on my trip to Rochester, and it didn't disappoint! As you walk in, you're immediately overcome by the exceptional decor. The space is bright, fun, vibrant and filled with plants and cool lights! There are several fun signs and neons throughout the space, and there's even a cool nook for photo ops with lounge chairs, bird cages and funky wallpaper. I was seated and was so impressed by the server, who was excited about the seasonal menu and happy to talk me through the favorites since it was my first time in. She checked in on me throughout my visit and was so friendly! I opted for a mocktail with passionfruit, and that was a delicious refreshment. I love that they have non-alcoholic options - great for lunchtime. So many things on the menu looked delicious, but I ordered the glass noodle salad. The fresh colors popped and I loved that it comes with shrimp and pork! I thought the pork could have been a bit more seasoned and there could have been more glass noodles, but an otherwise refreshing dish. I'll definitely be back! read more

We were in the area enjoying some hiking at Whitewater State Park and decided to stop in Rochester for food. I stumbled upon Thai Pop on Yelp and had high expectations based on the reviews. It did not disappoint!! We ordered the Cauliflower, five-spice tofu, and chicken Thai basil. Everything was amazing!! The sauce on the cauliflower (yum sauce) was...yummmmm. We had the honey toast for dessert (I forget what it is called...Annie's toast?) and omg. I have had it before at other Thai restaurants and this one was one of the best! We are talking about making a trip down from the Cities just to eat there again. read more

So delicious!!!!! This place is such a freakin vibe!!! Seriously reminds me of my Thai step grandma with all the plants everywhere and rattan! The waitress was super helpful! Would definitely recommend! read more

We decided to go here for lunch . The restaurant was busy even at 130pm on a Friday . My wife loved the ZAAP! wings . She said there some of the best she's ever had . She also enjoyed her KHOA SOA . She added chicken and said the heat was at the level she can handle . Which she's not much for spice . I ordered the soup Tem Kae . The creamy coconut milk and spice was awesome. One of the best soups I've had in year . The mushrooms and cherry tomatoes paired perfectly . Lastly I ordered the market fish which happened to be walleye. It was lightly tempura fried with a light chili sauce finished with mint and cilantro. It came with a side of white rice . It also was fantastic. The service was great and very friendly. We will definitely be back . The only reason i have it 4 stars were the high top seat are almost too tall . I could barely fit under them . This was my only complaint. read more

I ordered takeout from here last night, because I knew I wanted some Thai food while I was in town and the Yelp reviews and Instagram photos made this an easy decision. I was not disappointed. I couldn't decide what I wanted and it was too hot for my usual Thai soup dishes that I would normally order, so I decided to go for two appetizers -- the "yum corn" and the shishito peppers. Both were bathed in vegan coconut ranch (omg so freaking good). I was surprised that the corn was legit sliced up corn on the cob and not just the kernels, but it made it more fun to eat that way. The toasted coconut flakes on the outside of the corn was delicious, and the spring onions were a nice flavor boost. The peppers were fried in garlic, so how could they not be tasty? Some were hotter than others, which provided a nice variety. I just wish I would've ordered a cocktail, because they all sound divine. read more

We enjoyed some great food and comfortable atmosphere. Creative menu and presentation.

Yowza! What a fun place full of energy and laughter! This restaurant is great for groups, they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a hipster ambiance. Tried two cocktails and the three flavor Walleye - wow wow wow, loved the flavors and ordered extra sauce because it was so so good! The front manager/bartender P was a true powerhouse, making the best cocktails, chatting to everyone at the bar, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Service was prompt and everything was delivered with a big smile. Definitely a must-try when in Rochester, you won't regret it! read more

I live in the Twin Cities and the food here was phenomenal and comparable to some of the best Thai food there! We got takeout and were very impressed with everything we got. The presentation was amazing even in the takeout boxes. We got the Khao Soi with beef brisket which was a creamy coconut milk based noodle soup with cabbage, crispy noodles, cilantro, onions, and spices. It was phenomenal. Loved the flavors and they didn't skimp on the spice. Definitely made my nose run and I loved it. The beef was super tender and there was a LOT of it! The portion was huge as well so my husband and I easily split and we were full from our split portions alone. We were recommended yum yum chicken wings by a friend and they did not disappoint. Wow. Some of the BEST wings I've ever had! We don't usually go for wings at restaurants but this one is so worth getting. First of all, the breading on these wings were amazing. Crispy, thick, and sweet and tangy all at the same time. Not sure what sauce they used but it was incredible. The chicken was very juicy as well. I love trying mocktails so I had my husband get a mocktail from the bar to-go. Unfortunately they don't allow you to order them in advance from the takeout menu but he easily ordered when he picked up the rest of the items. The mocktail we ordered was the Island Hopper. It's a pomegranate based drink. Very delicious, perfectly sweet and it paired well with what we ordered. Overall had a pretty amazing experience with takeout. Hoping to visit again in person once the COVID situation gets more under control. read more

We are visiting Rochester and looking for an apartment. Thai Pop was AWESOME and I know we will be coming again after we move. The Tom yum soup was everything I needed on a cold winter day. Reasonably priced and a good amount for me and my husband. They did not skimp on the rice :) The yum yum wings were okay. The flavor was quite unique and unusual for me and my husband. We are definitely going to try the Zaap wings next time (or maybe tomorrow :P) Come try this if you like Thai or Southeast Asian food! read more

The place looked very cool with all of the giant plants, but that is the last nice thing I have to say about them. Our server Nickolas was an absolute idiot tonight (hoping this was just a bad night for him). Half of the items we ordered didn't get ordered, others were misplaced or forgotten. Had to remind him after fifteen minutes that we had ordered drinks. Ordered "green bean" appetizer that didn't come. When we enquired he said he wasn't sure I really wanted them when I ordered them. I guess the words "we'll do some of those" means different things depending on what part of the country you are from. Ordered the steak and was told that it normally med-rare. I was very excited about that. It came out med-well and absolutely no seasoning after being told that I wouldn't need the sauce because it was such good meat. Oh yeah, it was so fatty that out I had to cut over one quarter of it away. Great quality dog poop, but not steak! Nickolas came by and tried to lecture me on the steak, saying that "in natural light, steaks appear over cooked". My thought was med-rare steaks leave juice on the plate, which there was none. The manager came by and offered a dessert on the house to make up for the steak. She talked us into the passion fruit cake which was the highlight of the dinner until Nickolas charged us for it. I brought it to his attention and he mumbled something about how it would show up on the bill, but we wouldn't be charged for it. Guess what! We got charged full price for it. I definitely will skip this place the next time I am in town and I would suggest you do the same. read more

Space is beautifully decorated with lots of vibrant colors and greenery. Makes you feel like you are eating on a tropical island! The service was friendly and prompt. The food however was disappointing. Maybe it's because I know what good Thai food should taste like? or maybe being Asian myself, I expected it to be more authentic? I guess I should have guessed based on how nice the decor was... All the dishes we ordered as a family of 6 was just off. Pad Thai - noodles was over cooked and too much of the sauce made it soupy which made the noodles even softer. The Thai Basil stir fry with beef was overly saucy and spice level was more than a little spicy! I guess I expected mushrooms in it like all other Thai restaurants make it. The fried tofu appetizer was also too saucy causing the crispy tofu to be soggy. They should serve the sauce on the side had we had known. I think the only dishes that was good were the yum yum sticky wings, Tom yum noodle soup and the cocktails! Sadly will not be coming back at least not for the food. Would def come back to have a drink at the bar or something. read more

Visited 6/14/24. Came in with a few friends (4 of us in total) and managed to still get a table outside despite having no reservation on a Friday night, so I thank them for this. The place was pretty busy. They had a large selection of cocktails and mocktails which was super fun. Potentially would consider waitstaff could fill customers in on some of the different menu options because despite having eaten at Thai places before there were a lot of cool different options I hadn't heard of also. I think if anything I should've gotten something a little more adventurous because while the Thai basil stir fry I got was good, it wasn't anything that blew me away (I'm slightly picky too when it comes to pieces of chicken with chewy fat on them-not too many, just me nitpicking). Nice portion sizes and price value though. The one thing that we did get for the table that I would recommend was the Thai beef jerky. This was so flavorful and really stuck out to me as the highlight of the meal. Overall I would still love to return. This place is adorable with really nice vibes and a great amount of options. read more

Great atmosphere! This place has a very cool vibe and the staff is top notch. Super welcoming, offer great suggestions, and overall friendly. The menu has several of Thai classic dishes with a fun twist. Unfortunately, the food fell mediocre for me. The Thai fried rice was decent but had very little veggies or protein. The flavor was a little bland for a dish that should be anything but. The chicken wings were a fail, undercooked and greasy. They were a hard pass. You are probably reading this and thinking why did I give them four stars. The vibe and the many options on the menu will bring me back. I say give it a try, lots of places have an off night. read more

Terrific! We came into this with a blank slate and were really impressed by this experience. Another great addition to the growing, thriving Rochester foodie community. Upon entering, you will see so many plants. My wife loves plants so seeing all the tropical plants scattered throughout the restaurant/bar gave us inspiration for design ideas of our home. Staff was really attentive and gave a full "white glove" treatment - always being available. Ordered: - Lemongrass Chicken (4.5/5). This was excellent. Really authentic tasting and the chili and sambal dipping sauces were piping with heat but complemented well with the chicken and sticky rice - Yum Yum Wings (3/5). This was our a-ok. It was heavily battered and the a bit salty to our tasting. The sauce was pretty good but it was hard to taste the actual meat as the ratio of batter / meat was high. - Khoi Soi - Curry Noodles (5/5). A surprise from our date night. The broth was smooth, silky, while dense at the same time with lots of flavors. It is a little spicy so be prepared for some beer, water, or sticky rice to help alleviate your taste buds. We ended up having leftovers and it gave us another meal when we made more rice and added tofu to it - Street Salad (5/5). Love. The shrimp flakes, firecracker tomatoes, and papaya wrapped with a sweet fish-based sauce made this dish perfect. Thai papaya salad is generally sweeter and less potent than Lao version Overall we were happy to finally try Thai Pop after hearing mixed reviews, both raving it and some saying it was a-ok. We look forward to coming back to try other dishes and appreciate having more options in Rochester! read more

Initial thoughts on Thai Pop is that it's pretty great. I have been back since my first time and have turned friends onto this restaurant as well. To keep things simple, truthfully I wasn't really impressed with either of the 2 entrees we ordered. Cocktails were decent. Our server was awesome, very friendly, attentive, and answered any questions we had. Entrees: *Pad Phrik Gang Gi - meh. Chicken, green beans, red sauce. [4/10] *Coconut Brisket - good flavor, but do not order this if you're very hungry. Not very much food. [6/10] Cocktails: *Tongue Thai'd - Sweet with a spicy kick [6.5/10] *Passion Pop - Sweet and Smooth. VERY TASTY [9/10] THE KICKER: Now I'm truly sorry if you're not a mushroom person because you are severely missing out. The Tom Yum Soup. Gorgeous. Amazing. Work of art. This soup is perfection. [10/10] We ordered this with medium spice level and honestly still wasn't too spicy. It's light and tangy. Loaded with mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. And absolutely bursting with flavor. Comes with a side of rice that we just add right into the soup. SO GOOD. The portion is massive, to be frank so it's a good shareable. I encourage you to try it. Will absolutely be returning to Thai Pop to try more of their soups read more

Wow! Just wow- and this will be your favorite Thai food experience I stopped in at the bar for just a cocktail but the menu inspired me to try more (I was NOT hungry!) Intrigued by "Son in Law"- this is an app of lightly fried hard boiled eggs with both sweet and spicy accents- I've not had anything like it and would return here for only this! Here's a tip: Eat those eggs but save the plate because now you can pour the leftover liquid onto the Street Salad!! I ordered this salad because I was also intrigued, and the app was so good, I didn't want to miss out! Everything's perfect on this salad but the candied shrimp put it over the top So now I'm just stuffed but there's no way I'm leaving without trying the mango sticky rice for dessert I've never had it done perfectly before- the river is perfectly warm mochi consistency with that slightly formed outer shell and then topped with perfect amount of sweet sauce The cocktail list is insane!
