Amazing Thai food and drink just a couple blocks from Mayo in downtown Rochester MN! I was visiting Mayo solo and stopped in early on a Monday night. Glad I had a reservation as it was filling up quickly. Thanks to fellow Yelp reviewers, I strayed from my comfort zone and tried the Son-in-Law fried eggs and Rice Noodles with House Curry (melt-in-your-mouth brisket added). Must haves! And the cocktail list is filled with creative, delicious options. I strongly recommend the Tongue Thai'd cocktail if you're good with smoky and very spicy. read more

Great food, ambience and service. I really love their Tom Yum soup, beef jerky and crispy pork belly

We just had a moment to dash from the Mayo Clinic between appointments. It was a close walk and they sat us quickly. We both had the red curry, mine with rice and brisket, my wife had it with tufu and noodle. Both were great. Spicy but not Thai hot. We were pretty rushed and they were able to accommodate Us, I'll go back when I have more time to enjoy it. read more

Food was excellent. I ordered tom yum with rice noodles, tofu for protein. It was very tasty. The atmosphere was good, music was not overly loud. The waitress was very helpful. I would go back again. read more

Every time we visit Rochester, we make sure we plan a family dinner here. Beware, the spicy symbol really means spicy. I can usually handle a good amount of heat, and this was tip-toeing the line of my limit! They have great cocktails and drinks that have great Thai flavors. Super original ingredients like Tom Kha syrup, thai basil, kaffir lime leaves, somehow making quite amazing cocktails. Props to the mixologists here. The wings are must here, you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Super crispy wings with a great amount of batter, yet juicy in the middle. Some of my favorites: Curry Rice Salad - not much of a salad, more rice than greens but the crispy rice adds so much texture mixed with the onions and herbs. Definite must try for the table! House Curry - decent kick to this dish, but so addicting. I got this with brisket, which just melted in your mouth. I vouch to try everything on the menu eventually, but rarely find myself in Rochester. read more

I visited while in town from Denver and we were blown away. All of our local friends said this place was a must visit and we loved it so much we had to visit twice! We started with the two different varieties of wings, both were incredibly good, and very different from one another. I highly recommend getting a sampler of the wings, one breaded version and the other not breaded. My wife and I got the house curry with chicken and the pot belly appetizer with a side of rice. House curry was VERY spicy and flavorful. The pot belly was cut into thin strips , fried to perfection with a delicious green sauce. If we lived here, I imagine we would eat here at least once a week into eternity. read more

When you come in, they may ask if you had a reservation. So try to make a reservation if you can. Service is good, friendly staff, very attentive. The atmosphere and decor is very cute, fun, hip, and bright. The food is good, but not what I expected. Not your typical traditional Thai food place. The dishes are more modern and spicy is not really spicy. My favorite dish was the appetizer bomb chicken wings. read more

Wry good and fresh food. Didn't give it a 5 star rating though because we live 35 min from there so we have to take out food a lot and I feel like the portions for take out food compared to eating in is not the same. I don't like ordering takeout from here but sometimes it's necessary for us since we don't live in town. It would be nice if the prices for takeout were lower than eating in since the portions seems to be a lot different read more

Thai Pop - Chinese broccoli with chicken. As you can see, chicken is pretty scarce - Thai Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

I can't believe I haven't been here before! We really enjoyed it. Thai Pop is in the space Grand Rounds used to occupy. They do a much better job with the space than GR did. It's really welcoming and they have a lot of plants and a good sized room. The staff were all really friendly and genuine, they made it really pleasant. I had curry with chicken and it was great, a little heat but not too much. My wife got the coconut brisket. I tried some and it was very good. The only downside were the wings. They were huge, actually too big. Not much flavor but the sauce on the side was tasty. They have craft beer on tap which is always appreciated. It's a small selection but with a good variety. I shall definitely return. read more

I gave this restaurant a 2 rating for the following reasons: 1. We ordered the pad-see-ew. It was nothing like what we expected (we're from an area that has good Thai restaurants). It was the thin pad-thai noodle instead of the fat flat noodle. The noodle was over cooked. It was saucy instead of dry stir fry. 2. We ordered the noodle with the beef protein option (generally included in the price). The beef turned out to be brisket and we were surprised to see $8 added to the bill for the beef. 3. We also ordered the fried fish which came luke warm and hence no longer crispy. I don't know if it sat there and waited until our other dish was ready. It should have been served hot. At the end, we gave our waitress our feedback. She said the owner came from a different region and that's how they make the pad-see-ew. She went on to say that other customers have questioned or complained about how it's different from what they are used to. I understand she doesn't have control over the menu. However, as the first line to customers and hear their feedback, I would have appreciated she let us know when we ordered that the pad-see-ew is different than what we may be used to. AND that they use beef brisket instead of beef. AND oh, it's an additional $8!! I don't mind paying for good food. But none of it was good and I don't like a surprise on my bill. read more

The color and culture here is so much fun. It is ALWAYS busy and they always have lots of happy noise. Its a great place to go with friends. (Maybe not a great place if you are recovering from an illness and visiting Mayo looking for a quiet meal.) Though if you like Thai food, expect a twist on this "pop" culture take, which is delicious and has a nice little "plot twist" to your average Thai place. We ordered a few entrees (pictured.) I was not a fan of the Crispy Fish sauce Pork Belly...which reminded me of funions without the flavor, but the rest of our table LOVED them! They definitely crisped, and definitely had lots of flavor. So my tastebuds must have been off. Though I ordered the Coconut Brisket which was to die for. Lots of coconut flavor, plenty of rice on the side (perfectly cooked) and enough meat to feed an army. My partner ordered the house curry and it was BEYOND HOT! Which Thai food can be! So if you like just a little spice, be SURE to mention that. All in all, everything they did, though different than what we were use to, was PERFECTLY cooked. Also, for anyone who this may help, when you ask for sticky rice. Expect VERY sticky rice. Like, holds together, and to the fork, and lifts the plate. HA! Definitely a finger-food :) This put a few of our group-members off. read more

Got take out from here last night. The sticky wings were so enjoyable. I got the house curry with brisket added, and the addition was the best decision! When I walked in the pick up my food, I like the vibe. I'd definitely eat here/take out again! read more

4th visit here. Always an adventure finding on street parking but not an issue on this visit. We were seated upon arrival at a nice table. We took our time perusing the menu as we love yo explore new cuisine. Thai Pop 101- Yum Yum Wings. If you enjoy well made chicken wings do not pass these up. We order them every visit as they are so delicious! I ordered the Laab Het and sticky rice. My wife ordered the Son-in-law and Yum Yum Wings. We like to order portions which are shareable to get a better overall taste experience. The restaurant is very uniquely decorated and pleasing to the eye. The bathrooms are clean and welcoming. The staff is stellar and attentive. The food was brought to our table within 15 minutes of ordering. Everything was delicious! The Yum Yum Wings were exceptional Vegan options available. I love their tofu!! read more

Stopped here for lunch with some colleagues. I had the Thai basil stir fry. I got mine medium heat because I like a little . It was soooo good I ate all of it. I would definitely order this dish again. I would say the medium had a little after kick, if you want more heat get it hotter. They also offer this dish in mild or no heat and you can switch up your proteins. I'd definitely love to go back and try some other dishes. read more

We love a good Thai restaurant, and this one was both unique and delicious! The atmosphere was very funky and inviting. We sat outside. We started with the art-Thai cocktail- hubbie had the mock tail version. Pretty and tasty. We then had the cauliflowers "pops" which were perfectly cooked chunks of cauliflower in yum yum sauce. We also had a spicy chicken curry with green beans which was good and spicy. Our favorite dish was the Brussel sprout and noodle dish to which we added chicken. The sauce was a standout. I also recommended asking for the home made chili paste as a condiment. It had a crunchy texture that was very tasty. We very much enjoyed our dinner and look forward to our next visit. read more

Went for lunch and absolutely loved it. Everything was fresh and flavorful! I had the Thai Basil Chicken and it was a little spicy but so good. My daughter had the Tom Yum Soup and she really enjoyed it. We traded entrees half way through because we liked each other's dishes too. Patty was our server and she was very helpful. We ended with Annie's Toast and it was amazing. Like a donut French toast with honey creme drizzle and ice cream. We couldn't stop eating it. We also had hot tea which was served in a cute pot. Definitely a good find in Rochester. read more

Ambiance is eclectic and a feast for the eyes! The food is exceptional. We started with the Bomb Dot Com wings and Sprouts. Will order these again when back in town. Ordered calamari plus a fabulous Bodhi Breeze mocktail (they have a plentiful mocktail menu). Definitely Flavor Town! Can't wait to return on our next trip! Best service in town! read more

We have been to Thai Pop two times and both have been exceptional. From the amazing food and recommendations from our waitress to the stunning decor, it's such a win! It's casual enough for daily dining with family but special enough and frankly the food is just incredible that it would be a wonderful date night spot as well. We highly recommend if you are anywhere near the Rochester area. read more

One of the few restaurants in Rochester that exceeds mediocre but doesn't exceed a reasonable price point. Dishes are bright and delicious, well prepared, and pleasingly presented. The ambience is fun and funky (plants and lights!) and the service is great. Whenever I have out of town guests or family visit, this is my go-to place. Thanks for keeping the standard high! read more

Best restaurant in Rochester. Hands down. Brussles and Noodles are phenomenal. Crave it all the time. I have been here and tried so much of the menu and have never been disappointed. Great Service We were seated quickly. Nice drink selection. I had a Hibiscus Negroni; it was excellent. I don't see Negroni's offered very often. I had pork belly & rice, my wife had rice & broccoli with crispy pork belly. My pork belly wasn't crispy. I would recommend adding the crispy pork belly to your disk. They add a good amount and it tastes awesome. Another note, the broccoli isn't florets, it's the leaves and stems. Very good but not what we expected. All in all the food, drinks, and service were above par. I would highly recommend Thai Pop for a nice dinner experience. read more

This place is top notch. The Coconut Brisket is so tender and melts in your mouth with the coconut sauce. Their house curry is excellent, tofu was too! My wife had a few cocktails, and everything's pretty much house made fresh ingredients and botanicals. It's a cute and trendy interior, and service was decent both at tables and at the bar. All in all, this place is excellent. My wife and I have had to spend a few days at Mayo Climic the past month, and we've eaten here five times. Wings were dece, and a bit pricey, but totally worth it. read more

Quite outstanding Highly recommend. 1st visit. Excellent tom kha Diverse menu. Very fairly priced

We ordered take out and it was really great. They did not have the padthai available for take out but we tried the yum yum wings, lemongrass chicken and the house curry. Everything was well seasoned and balanced. I was extremely impressed with the texture of the rice noodles, they were soft and well cooked. Not sticky even though it was to go. Some of the best take out noodles I have had. The dipping sauces were flavorful and went really well with the sticky rice and chicken. I'm excited to try other things on their menu and hopefully try their drinks once I can dine in. I was impressed with the server as when they get too busy they know when to stop accepting take out orders to make sure people aren't waiting for their food. Once I informed them that I could pick it up way later they were able to accommodate my order. The manager did an excellent job and they clearly have a good team. The indoor space is great, amazing ambiance - makes me feel like Im in a big city. The staff was very nice and the wait time was not bad at all. Additionally, there is some outdoor seating for groups of 2. Lastly, there is some street parking and also lots of paid/metered parking nearby. read more

Hands down! This was one of the best Thai restaurants in Rochester! It's funny that it was right opposite to another Thai restaurant, which made me feel even competitive! They have wide variety of rooms with different pop decor. Let's talk about food, first off they're not serving regular Thai food with red, green, yellow curry (fyi not complaining & I love them all) they had amazing regional Thai food. Watch out for the quantity they serve. It's huge! I could change the rating to 5 when I visit couple of times. read more
