Staff was terse and didn't communicate that they were short handed in the kitchen (even though there was 3 people working) We asked for a table outside and while we were waiting for it, they give it to some other group. After 1 1/2 half waiting for our food they told us that it was going to be another half an hour. This was such a great find! I am from the San Francisco Bay Area where there is an abundance of delicious Thai food. I did not know what to expect in a small town in Colorado, but their food is very delicious. I was especially fond of the banana curry, which I never see on the menu at other Thai restaurants. The atmosphere is very cozy and it feels a world away from the surrounding area. It is very popular, so I would recommend making a reservation for larger parties (if they allow it). read more

If you love Thai food or you want to try it, do not miss Thai Paradise! My daughter, son and I dined there and we all loved our dishes. My daughter lived in Thailand for 6 months and said the yellow curry was some of the best she had had in the states. I had a Massaman curry-it was delicious! This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had, and I've been a bartender for 8 years. The two older ladies that were working last night July 26 2018 were the rudest cashier/servers I have ever encountered. I will never ever go to this restaurant again or suggest anyone to go there. Honestly I'd tell anyone i know to walk out if either of those waitress are there. So let's delve into this deeper. Me: calling in a to go please. I'd like pad kra pow with a fried egg on top. Cashier: what? You're changing the menu on me. Let me ask. She asks everything is fine. Me: okay can I also get a larb with pork and not chicken. Cashier: what larb? We don't have that. Me: uh yes you do I'm looking at the menu right now. Cashier: total mispronunciation oh you mean larb. Me: yes. Cashier: well it comes with chicken you can't just change the menu on me. This went on for a few more minutes until I finally got my food ordered. Now let's move on to me getting there. I walk in, it's not busy. There are two waitresses and six tables. I asked for my to go order, which wasn't ready so I got a Singha, paid for my meal and beer and went outside. Now things start to get dicey. Neither cashier open my beer, nor did they open the beers of the two other people in front of me. Now I'm not a rocket scientist, but I have been a bartender for long enough to know that it is 100% illegal at any place of business that serves bottled or canned alcohol must be opened by a person 21 years of age that is an employee of the establishment. Now we're getting to the worst part, the attitudes. I asked for silverware the older lady with braces huffed and puffed and acted like I was asking for some outrageous thing. My food is now done so I went back outside with my to-go food and am finishing my beer. I realize i had forgotten to get extra fish suace. So hesitantly i go back inside and ask for a side of fish sauce. The lady literally asked me to tip her if I wanted fish sauce. Like in what world do servers get to demand tips for products that should be happily procured for a customer. So I told her I planned on tipping once my beer was finished when I brought my bottle inside. She asked me what fish sauce was. Now we were getting somewhere. So she fills up a container with fish sauce and slams it on the counter. I say oh, okay. Thank you. Then I realized I really wanted hot peppers that they serve at the tables. This lady lost it. She demanded that her co worker bring it to me. Then literally threw a to go container at me.....one that was cardboard and would have never held the liquid I was trying to put in it. This mad me loose my temper and I told the lady that if she expects tips at all she should seriously consider being good at customer service. I have never in my life been disrespected like this at a restaurant. I was shaking I was so upset. I love the Thai ladies that cook, they make amazing food. But the farang in the front need to go. They make a wonderful business look horrible. I again will never go back as long as those two women are working there.Not even for a to go order. I mean seriously? No customer ever deserves to have to go container thrown at them, or have a cashier demand tips for a side of fish sauce. For the record everyone I did leave a 4$ tip on a to-go order..... ( no server in the history of serving expects a tip for to-gos.) read more

We were looking forward to eating here, but were unfortunately disappointed. While the food was pretty good it is definitely overpriced and lacking in flavor compared to other Thai restaurants. This restaurant has the best Thai food I've ever eaten. My partner wanted to try this restaurant but I wasn't sure and I'm so happy we did. We sat outside and it was very relaxing. Negative: It's a little pricy. Positive: This is a !@#@#!$#@ delicious Thai restaurant dropped seemingly at random in the tiny town of Ridgway, CO. We had the taster appetizer tray, which I highly recommend. It's the best way to get a little taste of everything once you realize that you cannot choose between all of the delicious sounding apps. I had the drunken noodles, which were well spiced and delicious. My wife had the Green Curry. She asked for it "Thai hot" because she's crazy like that, and the dish did not disappoint. Not only was the dish itself super spicy, the waitress brought out a little dish of the owners own special recipe hot pepper cocktail. With a couple of beers, tax, and tip, we ended up spending $70, which was a bit more than I was expecting. However, I can't be too too angry about price when the food is great. read more

We frequent Thai Paradise regularly. It's consistently good with lots of vegetarian/vegan options.

I've eaten here a few times and would have given it 2-3 stars until my last visit. My medium pad Thai was literally sweet, all brown (I ordered chicken) and had none of the general toppings like green onion, peanuts, etc and zero vegetables. My friend ordered medium green curry and it was too hot to eat. Her rice had a long hair in it. The server, while kind didn't look a day over 15 and clearly overwhelmed never checked back in us and didn't know to be proactive and either get the owner or ask if she could make it right and I didn't have the heart to put her in a bad place. This place is great! We had excellent service for lunch outside. Got lunch there and to-go for camping tonight. We love Thai food and have eaten at some of the best Thai restaurants in the country. This unassuming unpretentious little place is some of the best we've ever had! We tried the massaman curry, pad thai, beef and chicken combo lettuce wraps, and fried rice. All were truly delicious, bursting with flavor while still delicate. Would go out of our way to Ridgway to eat here again. read more

I have been disappointed the past two visits to Thai Paradise because of the lack of flavor in the Rhom Kha. I ordered this soup back in September 2019, and was blown away by the amazing flavors. Since then, whatever ingredients were used to create the sweet, tangy broth have been left out. Even when I ask about it, all I get is a shrug from the waitress. A really great surprise. Very sweet mom and pop place with eccentric decorations - surprisingly a lot of seashells for a Thai place and a landlocked location. The food...I will be very honest, I'm not a Thai connoisseur. I love the typical Pad Thai and Drunken noodles, but beyond what I'm very aware of is Americanized Thai, I can't tell you much. I have had boat noodles from a place in Thai Town in LA that blew my mind. So there's that. In general, I feel like I can tell when flavors are missing. But back to Thai Paradise, solid for general Americanized Thai. I got the third level of spice for my Jungle Curry, and I handle spice really well (not like "American Spicy", but "Asian Spicy"), and this thing had me tingling in all the right ways. Exactly what I needed on a cold, snowy day. They also had an option for organic chicken, which I thought was Surprising. And nice. Their Thai Iced tea, definitely not the best I've had, but you get one free refill. And when you order some spicy curry, it's all around perfect. read more

Cozy, colorful little find in Ridgway. I did not expect to find flavorful Thai cuisine out here, but overall I'm glad we popped in for lunch! I wanted to give Thai Paradise 4 stars, but our overall experience was only OK. We walked in and stood around for what seemed like a long time until someone finally greeted us even though we smiled and made eye contact with the staff several times. We didn't know we could sit anywhere until they said something. We chose one of the fun, pillowed seating areas on the other side of the half wall. Food: Neither of our noodle dishes had any spice. We had both ordered "hot," but I would describe them as mild at best. Luckily the flavors were there and spot-on - still very delicious. The fiance's egg roll was burned, greasy, and tasted off, while mine was still golden and cooked perfectly. I didn't know that could be possible on the same ticket? Finally, from my understanding of the menu, we were supposed to get rice as part of our meal, but it never came and by the time we finished lunch, we were full enough anyway that it didn't matter. Service: The staff seemed hesitant, maybe even awkward. Enough that as our dishes were getting cleared, our server dropped the small bowl containing leftover egg roll sauce and nearly splashed our clothes with sticky ooze. Thankfully, it missed both of us and our mild-mannered server apologized, but he didn't wipe it up before leaving the bill sitting on top of the stickiness. Weird. Ambience: The music played in the background was mellow indie stuff, but the volume was low enough that the silence of the other diners in the restaurant made it seem very awkward. These diners were seated at tables immediately around us, but none of them talked to each other! This silence was made even more acute by the kitchen staff - even they didn't seem to say much back there (we should've been able to hear everything through the open hatch). This made our own voices sound out of place, and it wasn't until two older gentlemen with deeper voices walked in towards the end of our lunch did Thai Paradise finally appear a bit more lively. Maybe the dinner hour isn't as sleepy. We noticed lots of people walking in for their take-out orders. I think if we lived here, we'd do the same and order "super hot" next time. For all the strangeness on our first visit, I'd still recommend it and would come back to give it another chance. read more

Surprisingly good Thai food in Ridgway. Green curry and drunken noodles in particular were delicious. Both times I've been I've had good service, and the second time the old thai owner came out and had a wonderful conversation with us and wished us a merry christmas. However, I can see how sometimes the service can be a bit lacking. But who cares, the food is delicious, *especially* for being way out there. Only dish I can't reccomend is the Jungle curry. Thai Paradise is a comfortable and authentic Thai experience seated in the middle of Ridgeway. Our waiter was very friendly and served us delicious soup prudently. When Thai Paradise landed in Ridgway back in the aughts, I seem to recall the kitchen being run by some of Siam's finest who had defected from the Telluride scene. The food was really good when they opened and the atmosphere was jovial and welcoming. Then there was a slump in the middle there when the dishes weren't always that good. I stopped going for many years because my experiences had been subpar. Fast-forward to today. The food is consistently really good, well priced and the service is the best in Ridgway. They accidentally double charged my card and when I came in a few weeks later they gave me lunch on the house. Good on them. I recommend green curry or Ka-Prow. read more

My wife who hates Thai food and usually scoffs when I make the suggestion had the angel wings and was seriously blown away! I had the green curry medium hot (usually pick that at most Thai places to see if they're any good). And I wasn't disappointed either. I've had Thai in l.a., Denver, San Fran, and Portland and this stands up against those. The owners are very sweet and accommodating and definitely aim to please. The only bummer is there decor and seating, they have some awkward booths that seat four built in and they could probably accommodate more people if they remodeled. We've been eating here for years and until this past summer it was always run by a great couple from Thailand who knew what they were doing in the kitchen. The food was always fabulous, high food quality and fresh. This year the owners of the building decided they wanted to increase the rent and wanted different ownership to operate the restaurant. The food quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. They got rid of the waitstaff that had been there for years. We won't be going back...Sad! read more

Visiting a friend in Ouray and the first place he took us was Thai Paradise. We sat on the patio because we had our dog with us and it was fantastic. Best veggie green curry ever! Loved the people and the atmosphere!!! Will definitely recommend and come back.
