Not a fan of the food. Love the Thai tea. Interior feels old and dirty, but I do appreciate the small cultural decor items.

This is my new favorite food spot for Thai food!!! I placed a to go order for Drunken Noodle and a side of sticky rice (I love sticky rice). When I picked it up, I was amazed at how large the serving was! So when I got back to my place and popped open the lid....all my senses were pleased!!! The sight was beautiful, the smell took me back to memories of Thailand, but when I took that first taste...... deliciousness! Now that I've experienced all this amazement and enjoyment from this to go order, I have to go back this week and try the dine in experience. This was my first time having Thai food and so many delicious looking options on the menu that I want to try. I had the crispy duck with basil and my gf had the roasted duck noodles soup. We both loved it! We shared two starts, the kyow krob and the fried calamari. The kyow krob was so good! My only knock, and not worth taking a star away, is the fried calamari was a little too breaded for my liking so I will avoid that the next time. Considering it's one of the few Thai places in Southern Maryland, it was really good! Not the best pad Thai I've had but not the worst either. I wish there was more flavor though- more peanuts and just a little more spice. The green onion could also be chopped up into smaller pieces... Other than those, it's exactly what you would expect pad thai to taste like. It's very generously portioned (took home about half). The menu is also very well priced. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant (including the restrooms) was clean. The food was good, although slightly bland - I wouldn't expect that for a Thai restaurant. This is probably the only Thai spot near the Patuxent River/Lexington Park/California, Maryland area. Due to Covid, I've only had take out from here. The takeout wait time is pretty fast. Usually, I call in and it's ready 15-20 minutes later. Noodles are my favorite startch so, I always order the noodles from here from: Pad See Mao to Drunken Noodles. It's an odd-looking restaurant. It seems to have once been a drive-through fast food place, and the building has been somewhat awkwardly retrofitted into a sit down restaurant. Muted lights and paintings on the walls belie the covered drive-through window and dated furniture. Their vegetarian options aren't many, but I do give them credit for offering "mock duck" (seitan, presumably). The tofu royale I got was a very basic ginger and onion flavored dish, but pretty tasty. Not a huge portion given the money. The spring rolls I added came out very fast but lukewarm; definitely seemed reheated rather than fresh, though still palatable. I'm not one to harass the service people, but the wait staff here were really abrupt. Asked me if I was ready to order, and then when I said no came back within a minute. Everything came out fast, but brusquely. I might have asked questions about the menu or about the nature of the bowl of crisps I was given at the start, but felt rather unwelcome to do so. I tipped normally, but would a smile be too much to ask for? At the end, the check was rather higher than I would have liked, given all of the above. In line with what I'd have paid for a nice restaurant in a city. I could get two meals for not a whole lot more at neighboring Bollywood Masala (with much better food), or pay significantly less down the road at Peking. I'm a tad disappointed with this place all told, but given that it's Southern Maryland, I'd still rather eat here than at most of the big chains and vegetarian-unfriendly seafood and barbecue restaurants in this area, so I'll generously spot them a three star rating. read more

The 411: this is a non-chain, Thai restaurant that has decent prices and flavors. The food is not necessarily the most authentic, but the food is still good and it's the best place to get takeout in the Lexington Park area. A few popular dishes that I enjoy. Green curry: not particularly strong in flavor, but it's usually a generous dish that's decently priced. They serve it with purple eggplant instead of green, Thai eggplant. It can be a bit mushy sometimes but I love eggplant regardless. Drunken noodles: always a generous serving of noodles with your choice of meat (I get pork for this dish). Salty and umami from oyster sauce and soy sauce. Garlicky and a tiny bit spicy. Also has Thai basil in it. I always ask for extra basil but they're skimpy with it. I also prefer it extra spicy but they're reluctant....I bet they've had food sent back because it was too spicy. Pad kra pao: a meat stirfry with garlic, chilli, bell peppers and oyster/soy sauce. It's good, but the primary flavor is supposed to be basil. They skimp on the basil which makes me sad. I prefer extra spicy. (Ethnicity of the area) I've also had a fried whole rockfish here. It's good, but the sauce is pretty mild. I would've preferred more spice (as always). I enjoy the drunken fried rice as well. It's just fried rice with the "drunken flavor" as well. Not authentic but tasty. Appetizers: Lettuce wrapped: a minced meat dish with cilantro and Lemongrass and fish sauce. It's pungent and vibrant and sour like a Thai dish should be! Probably one of my favorite dishes. Yum nuea: a beef salad with toasted sticky rice, lime, fish sauce and chillis. It's slightly spicy, salty and sour! It's another one of my favorites. Service has always been good to me but takeout is also really popular. I think they deliver too. Bottom line: this is a yummy restaurant but I really wish they would accommodate more to the native pallet. Translation: more spicy, more sour, more vibrance and pungency to the dishes. But I can't complain. This place usually leaves me smiling and full! P.s. I wish they had a section of the menu that catered more toward the authentic spice and flavor level. Tom Ka Soup with Chicken: Amazing - spicy, clean tasting, lean chicken and wonderful mushrooms - authentic and as good as Tom Ka is in Thailand - and I would know. 2). Penang Curry with chicken - absolutely wonderful. 3). Thai Fried Beef - the third dish to complement this meal - and if this were ebay - A++. I ordered drunken noodles. I assume like most people in this city, I'm here passing through. Was craving noodles after gym. This was the greasiest noodle dish I have ever eaten in my life. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but if you cannot nail this dish, you're not worth a second look. Far far far too greasy. There was oil an eighth of an inch high in my takeout container. Great authentic food, excellent service. I thought they went out of business during Covid, but they moved into the mall behind them. I usually order the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, brown rice, and occasionally the Chicken Sate with peanut sauce. The portions are enough for two to three people and I always have enough for left-overs the following day. So last night we called ( our first time by the way) and ordered a food to go. The lady on the phone stopped my order like 10 times because she was picking up another phone or talking to someone or answer someone else questions... anyways I KNEW she will mess up the order, and of course she did! Instead of getting 3 entrees and I also asked if I could substitute white rice for fried ( which she said yes), and if she doesn't know what substitute means please explain it to her! Anyways, we got up charge for rice ( twice), also we got extra order of duck we didn't order, instead of the check of $50 we paid $70! The problem that my husband went to pick it up and he didn't know what exactly I ordered, and I only checked the food this morning because I wasn't feeling good last night. The most interesting part at the end of our conversation she repeated my order correctly, but still somehow messed it up?! Please if you take an order by the phone, which is already not easy to hear, PAY ATTENTION! If you busy, DO NOT TAKE AN ORDER! I will try to call today and complaint to manager because we didn't need all that food... about food, duck was ok, drunken noodles were ok.... The best part was thia chicken. As others said, it is not much from the outside, but it is very much a local favorite mom and pop restaurant. This was a great relief since this town just seems to have chain restaurants (Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, etc.) I ordered the Tom Yum soup which was fantastic. I also ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai. The shrimps were nice and plump, and they didn't skimp. The noodles were done very well. I can't remember having better Thai food outside of Thailand. What also impressed me was how clean everything was. The dishes, dining room (did not try bathroom), and the silverware. As a former culinary sanitation specialist (i.e. dishwasher), this is one of the things I look for when trying a new restaurant to see how well they have their act together.
