Pretty good for a Thai restaurant right by where I was for the weekend. Ordered a bunch because my boyfriend and his mom love coming here. We had chicken wings, spring rolls,lobster rolls, fried calamari, mushroom dumplings, chicken pad Thai, chicken spicy noodles, and a shrimp with peanut sauce and mixed vegetables Thai special. The spring rolls and salad came with our entrees as part of the lunch special. The salad with cucumber dressing wasn't my favorite but the spring rolls were good. The fried calamari and the chicken wings were also good. The mushroom dumplings and lobster rolls weren't so great. The chicken pad Thai and chicken spicy noodles were delicious. The shrimp with mixed vegetables and peanut sauce was not to our liking. Overall, you must try this restaurant if you love authentic Thai food. But be prepared to wait a while for the food. read more

My friend and I wanted Thai food and decided to try this place out. I had a hard time finding good things to say. Pros: The servers filled the water regularly without having to be asked. We tried a special, the coconut shrimp spring rolls. They were crispy but not greasy, with a nice flavor and a delicious dipping sauce. Cons: The restaurant is tiny and difficult to locate even with a GPS. Parking is another issue. No parking area, you have to park on Main Street and pray that you can find a spot. In addition to the appetizer, my friend ordered a green salad and I requested a papaya salad. Her salad came out. Mine didn't. I asked the food runner and she said it would be out in 2 minutes. The server had forgotten to order it. 20 minutes later they brought it out, but I no longer wanted it at that point, since my friend had finished hers and I expected the entree shortly. When the entree came, I was so disappointed. The serving sizes were half of what I've gotten anywhere else. I've had pad Thai at multiple places and haven't ever had a bad one. Until last night. There were zero veggies in it. The menu said it came with bean sprouts, but they must have forgotten that too. The beef was chewy, and the whole dish was just flat. My friend's shrimp pad Thai tasted completely different, with bean sprouts and a ton of flavor. If you're looking for great Thai food in the area, go to green leaf or sawadee in East Northport. I have been to the Thai House and always good until today,at lunch our order of sautéed ginger & pork ( L6 )came and it had a funky smell and taste, the owner and cook came out to the dining area and I told her about the dish and she could care less did not offer to change the dish and charged for it full price,I couldn't eat it afraid of getting sick from the pork. Owner said that's the way pork is, and she walked away I don't know how she will stay in business with the attitude she has.That's no way to treat your customers. read more

I'll start by saying that this review is not based on food, because I didn't even get to try it. I hope the owners read this review, Because I'd like to give a word of advice from a restaurant owner of similar size. When you have a small restaurant and take reservations, you must be creative with seating tables. A walk in guest will choose to rush a meal (Eat in under an hour) than wait for a table. We stood by the bar and waited for over 45 min with an open table of 4 the entire time. When I asked about the table, their response was a bigger reservation of 9 was coming in. This situation fits perfectly with the advice I mentioned earlier. For this fact my review is one star. I will eventually come back and give another review based on the food. My teen daughter wanted to try a new type of food, so went to the Thai House. Between the music and decor it was a soothing atmosphere, the hostess offered suggestions for drink and food which were spot on choices. I thought the food was great. We did the Prix Fixe menu with an appetizer, entree, tea and dessert. I thought the proportions were good. Any more would have been gluttonous. The seasonal pumpkin custard was a treat. One of my favorite Thai places on Long Island. Sometimes hard to get a table for dinner during the weekend, but worth the wait if you're willing. My favorite dishes are any of their shrimp entrees which are quite filling and come packed with lots of veggies and rice on the side. Lots of noodles, crumbled peanuts on top, could have been more chicken pieces. The flavor was good though, I was pretty satisfied with my meal choice. DRINK: had a grey goose cosmo. It's a cute little place about 15 minutes away from Stony Brook University. They have a great lunch special deal - $8.95 for chicken/pork/tofu entrees such as pad Thai, pad seew, drunken noodles, pineapple fried rice, etc. and it comes with salad and a spring/vegetable roll. Other proteins cost a little more. The peanut salad dressing is really refreshing and the spring roll was crispy and fresh! The pad Thai was okay. Today, they had a few tables being served. Turned down a party of 4 at 7:40 pm as we were walking in. They turned us down too. Yet the posted close time for Wednesday is 9:00 pm. When we mentioned that, the waitress said we do that on days "like this". Well, you just turned down 6 people and the weather is good so what is a "day like today"?! Wow, you can turn down business?! I knew this place because the guy sat in front of me in Finance class was a server here. So my gf and I tried this Thai House right after evening class and were quite satisfied. We ordered spring rolls, green curry with chicken and beef pad thai. Good but nothing special. But we were amazed by the dessert: I ordered coconut rice cake (very chewy and delicious, heart it), and my friend got the fried ice cream. This a good little Thai place on Main St in Smithtown. It is directly across the street from CVS. The dining area is a bit snug but we were able to be seated without a reservation on a Saturday night. They have a small selection of beers including a Thai beer as well as mixed drinks. I ordered the cashew chicken. The chicken was lightly breaded and very juicy and flavorful. I would have preferred if there was a little more sauce for the rice with the entree. I do NOT like my food drenbched with sauce however there was a minimal amount of sauce. Overall it was good. My friend ordered the chicken with peanut sauce (Rama). This was the RAMA I have been searching for! It was delicious. If you like peanuts/peanut butter/peanut sauce you MUST try this dish. It is savory, creamy and flavorful. Well I'll start with the good. I ordered the pineapple fried rice. That was great! The bad...service was horrible. The guy "Francis" or whatever it was never came to our table except to give us the check. He was chatty to every other table except ours. (Sorry that I'm Spanish was that his problem who knows) but water refill once after my husband had his entire meal. I liked the Thai House, interesting food, an expanded beer menu and gooey desserts that Thailand never saw or heard of. $2.00 for a cup of coffee. A great mix. Normally the food is served with the spicy heat you would expect and crave in a real Thai restaurant. They will tone it down if you request but if you want bland food go order at the Irish place down the street. Lemongrass soup hot, spicy and two huge shrimp floating in the bowl. Thai house noodle was cellophane noodles, ginger, and six large shrimp that would qualify as prawns in other places. Very good. I discovered The Thai House in Smithtown by accident while on business in New York. I am a Thai food junkie and this is the best food I've ever had! The pad thai is great -- not overly sauced and has big chunks of meat/tofu (depending on what you order). My favorite dish so far has been the massaman tofu curry. It was outrageously good. The sauce was sweet and lightly spicy at the same time with big chunks of tofu and potatoes, with peanuts and onions mixed in. The restaurant is small, but very nicely decorated, super clean (top top bottom and back to the bathroom), and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They even have a little special beer list of beers that pair well with Thai food. I had a Hennepin Belgian beer that tasted great with my curry dish. I would recommend reservations even during the week as it can be busy and tables come at a premium. Take-out is also available. I wish I could take this place back to Detroit with me. Wow...the best Thai food I have ever had!!! Came here for lunch and was very impressed with everything...ambiance, service, food and prices! Even the water tastes great...must be filtered...I always appreciate restaurants that have filtered water. My meal consisted of a salad with peanut dressing...perfection! Then I had the veg spring roll and for the main course I had Pad Thai with chicken...it was heavenly. It had a very slight spiciness and a light creamy peanut sauce with a nice garlic taste...I am now craving this! You get all three items included in the lunch menu for one low price. Oh, and I also had a Thai iced tea and it was also perfect with a strong tea flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. My hubby had a salad with cucumber dressing...chicken broth soup and cashew chicken...he absolutely loved it all. And I was amazed at the low price of $23 for all our food. You cannot beat the price! This is my new favorite place. The only down side is parking...no parking area, just need to hopefully find a spot on the street. read more

Upon entering the restaurant you seem as if you've walked into the MET with all the decorations that go along with the quiet vibe here. My friend recommended crab rolls here which when I got them were not only small but 3 small rolls came in for $8 or so, who the hell serves 3 rolls in an appetizer. Not gonna lie, my mom makes hella better rolls, chicken, beef, shrimp you name it than this restaurant and many other Asian restaurants. I ordered Shrimp Panang while my buddy ordered Shrimp Pad Thai. We got our peanut dressing salad a few minutes later and our highly disappointing egg rolls 15 mins later. Then we received our main dishes another 10-15 mins after that. My friend isn't the one to complain but he ended up getting some type of fried rice and the lady came back and said "so sorry we make right dish" but we weren't going to wait 20 mins for pad thai so he stuck with it. My panang curry was eh, the curry was really really watery and the vegetables were lame, oh yeah only 5 pieces of shrimp fhsaifhaoifhsaifsa WHY?!!! But 4 out of 5 times, you can order just about anything on the menu and it will be delicious. Really pleasant atmosphere, which is a nice surprise considering all the sketchy bars nearby. The first time I visited Thai House was last month for dinner. Upon entering, one of the workers asked if we had reservations. It was a party for 2 so I didn't bother making reservations, but the tables were filled. However, she sat us and thank god we came at the time we did because 2 large parties showed up after and had to wait a while. Food was good-spring rolls were delicious, pad Thai yummy and the green curry with sticky rice was also delicious. The presentation was also superb. Ordered 1 beer each, and 1 cocktail each - for me a Cosmo and for my boyfriend a grey goose double on the rocks splash sprite. When he ordered his drink she looked at us cross eyed. I repeated it and simplified it saying 2 double shots and splash sprite. Anyway the check comes and she charged us $19.00 for the double vodka splash sprite cocktail. This isn't the city! I brought it to her attention because the check was itemized as 1 cosmo greygoose , 2 beers and 2 greygoose cocktails. I said "you charged us for an extra drink." She responded "No he wanted double so $19.00." I work at a bar in garden city on the weekends and a double is an up charge wherever you go but they don't charge you for 2 separate cocktails. It should've been around 14.00 max! She didn't even know what a double was which was the most annoying part. - I would give 3 stars for that experience. However, I returned for lunch today because I was working close by. The lunch specials are where it's at! Pretty much $13.00 a person for lunch special and you receive a salad, choice of spring roll or 2 different types of soup plus your entree. Portion and tastiness was on point. So definitely not a dinner place for me because I enjoy drinking, but possibly a new lunch place when close by. read more

It's funny because just as I'm writing this review my grandmother calls me asking if I'd want to go to the Thai House tonight! We go here a lot! They are vegan friendly, sweet and have great service. The food is always hot, flavorful and fresh. The menu is filled with lots of choices and is reasonably priced. I love the atmosphere and decor, too. It's small and at times loud but thats not the restaurant's fault and the food makes up for it :) This is my go-to place for a night out! And yes, we are heading to The Thai House tonight! read more

Food and service were spot-on: fried foods were not greasy, everything prepared as described, portion size quite reasonable. If you have patience and a connection to someone in the area, you'll find coupons to use here as well; dinner for 2 (appetizer, main dish, shared dessert) came to $63. This restaurant is one of those "neighborhood gems". It is a bit secluded from the rustling part of Main St. in Smithtown but it makes for easier parking. This restaurant is a great find. The menu has plenty of choices (typical Thai dishes). Everything is well presented and tastes fresh & delicious. You can't go wrong with the Pad Thai and the Walnut Chicken is excellent. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced. Portion sizes are good if not generous. The servers provide great and friendly service. They are attentive and on their game. One really nice, personal touch is the head chef will walk from table to table to ask how everything is. That level of service is something that you do not experience almost anywhere these days. If I had to make one negative remark it's the relatively small dining area. Reservations are helpful, but I have walked in (for parties of 2) without issue or having to wait for long at all. The small dining room is decorated very nicely and provides quaint and cozy ambiance. I highly recommend Thai House (of Smithtown) to anyone who appreciates or wants to try Thai cuisine! read more

I've been here quite a few times and liked some dishes. While queens still has much better thai restaurants, this restaurant is probably as good as it gets on LI. Papaya salad and tom yum soup are both my usual orders at a thai restaurant but at this restaurant, the balance of flavors is off. I recall my papaya salad being too sweet and tom yum soup too sour, so I never ordered them again after the first time. Some of the stirfry dishes, although not very thai, are still tasty. Curries tasted OK. One major complaint I have is that sometimes they don't make dishes spicy enough even when I ask for thai spicy. If you can't go to queens for some authentic asian food, then this place is fine to temporarily satisfy your cravings. read more

It was hard enough to find a Thai place on the island that was open on Monday (what gives, Thai in LI?) but what was even harder was the shock of realizing that bad Thai food does exist. For apps I wanted to try the Thai House crab rolls and the Thai dumplings. When they were brought out I was confused as to which was which, but I liked the sweet sauce that came with the spring rolls. However, not tasting any sort of crab meat in them, we realized they were just the regular spring rolls. These appetizers made no complement to each other except for maybe the fried-steamed contrast, but essentially they were bland variations of the same idea. And why would I want two bland versions of wrapped ground chicken, veggies, etc. ? Hoping that our main dishes would save us, out came my sautéed pork with vegetables. I thought it was something simple enough to not get messed up. I ordered it spicy which I regretted after a few bites. With the thinly sliced pork, nearly unseasoned, and the light sauce it was served in, all I could taste was spice and not the good kind. It dominated the entire dish and sucked out the enjoyment of eating it. No buens. The entrees were also small. Enough for one person but I'm used to leaving Thai restaurants with at least something wrapped up to chow on the next day. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things, or maybe I came on a bad night. Maybe I'll come back and give the pork chops from the prix fixe a go. Their service and decor saved them on this one. read more

This place has great, authentic food, and I love the ambiance. I consider myself a bit of a foodie, and this is one of my favorite spots. As a bonus, their waitstaff is usually very attentive, friendly, but unobtrusive. As a bonus, the place is filled with authentic Thai artifacts, many of museum-quality. Among my favorite dishes: tom yum and tom kha soups, green papaya salad, PEI mussels, meat sate skewers, duck dishes like drunken noodles or basil duck. Their curries are very nice too, but prepare yourself for a big bowl of chunky soup - they don't use starchy thickeners, and very generous with the sauces. Either use rice, or the tablespoon. Say "flavor explosion!' =D TIP: if you check them out on facebook, they have a Thai "word of the day" - say it when ordering and you get a free dish, often a main course.
