This place is great cause it's not like the regular hole in the wall Chinese food place. This place serves alcohol and is more upscale vs the typical Chinese food spot! Staff here is always professional and very friendly. I need to come and eat here one day, I mostly order for take out, but the food is always consistent and very great quality! The general Tao's chicken is my go to with house special fried rice! The house special fried rice comes with chicken, shrimp, and pork in it. Very good and the chicken is white meat and very great quality! Egg rolls here my wife swears are the best because she says they're not too greasy and very crispy! I can't vouch for that because to me an egg roll is an egg roll! Fried dumplings here are very good though and the chicken lomein is solid. Overall this place is the best Chinese food surrounding deer park! They're located in Commack but I'll take that 20 min drive for solid Chinese food. While the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, the food was really not worth it. I ordered Pork and mixed vegetables- they gave me beef. Not thoroughly cooked either. No flavor at all, I had to add too much soy sauce - not great. There were no chinese veggies, no bokchoy, no watercrests, no mushrooms. It was broccoli, carrots, celery, and baby corn (2 pieces!) First of all $17 for a dinner dish that doesn't come with fried rice or soup or eggroll? Finally got around to trying Spicy Home Tasty after hearing quite a bit about it. Let's get straight to it, I ordered their chicken wings with vegetable fried rice and shrimp lo mein lunch specials. The lo mein was nice and dry how I like it, you get a little punch from the ginger too, shrimps nice and plump. The fried rice was also good, pretty standard. The wings were a high crime though. I'm questioning if these are made in house? They're strikingly similar to bodega hot food wings... if you know you know. Quite a shocker really, a Chinese restaurant of this caliber possibly not making their own wings? It's definitely a choice. These were so disappointing I went out and bought a proper order of chicken wings with pork fried rice from my local spot to compensate. On basis of wings alone, this place gets a fat zero but the shrimp lo mein was genuinely tasty and the service was fine. The inside is clean and cute, and the service is exceptional. They took the time to speak with us and, once they knew we wanted to explore what they had to offer, they guided us on some solid picks. Dumplings with chili sauce is a must get. They were making dumplings while we were there! Made fresh every day. Dandan noodles were delicious, and honey ribs topped off our apps. I had never tried a dry pot, and loved the flavors with the Szechuan peppers singing through. They can alter the heat level for you if you want more or less. I couldn't have my dishes very spicy so the waitress suggested 1/2 hot & sour and 1/2 egg drop.. it was fantastic. We ordered 4 different lunch dishes.. 2 people.. but we wanted to try a variety and would bring home leftovers. The soup was great, the Spring Roll best I've had. Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Chicken Chow Fun, Twice Cooked Pork and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (in case everything was too spicy). There are Chinese restaurants EVERYWHERE, esp. in my old "stomping grounds" on the Jericho Tpke. corredor of the Huntington "region," but THIS place, with the tough to remember name (Spicy, Tasty Home? Home Tasty Spicy?? Tasty Spicy Home???) is really in a whole separate category. You can tell right away you're in for something special when you arrive and discover that their parking lot is FULL, and NOT just with people waiting for "to-go" orders. This cozy, non-fussy Szechuan restaurant is (IMO) a MUST dine-in experience, not because of the "ambiance," which is nice, but because I simply CAN'T imagine the wonderfully eclectic, nuanced tastes (of which we barely skimmed the surface... Such an extensive, TEMPTING menu!!) neeeeeds to be enjoyed as soon as it emerges from the kitchen!! We started off with dumplings in hot sauce (awesome!!) and a couple of DEEELICIOUS scallion pancakes, then shared our entrees, crispy rice w/shrimp, one of the best versions of Pad Thai I've had in a while, eggplant with garlic sauce (I always get that, but YUM!!!) and the VERY unique red dates and honey ribs chef's special, which was GREAT!! We needed about ten more people (or about a dozen more return visits...) to even come close to sampling a fraction of what's on their wonderfully tempting menu. Absolutely terrible. My wife & I both got sick. The Dan Dan noodles had peanut butter in it & was awful. Even though "Spicy"was in the restaurant's name, nothing was spicy. And, in fact, everything was bland. It was the worst General Tso chicken I ever had. My wife's chicken with green bean hardly had any chicken. I called them up and they couldn't care less. Haven't been back in a while and they took a nose dive from my last review. We ordered takeout last week and I was really disappointed. I used to rave about them, but not this time. The salt & pepper pork ribs were basically deep fried breaded bones; barely any meat on it. The beef and string beans was basically dehydrated string beans with beef jerky. We had the Sichuan chicken, chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce, chicken dumplings, Dan Dan noodles with no pork, cumin beef, white rice. The noodles were good as were the dumplings. The rest was very mediocre. Portion size was large and we took the leftovers home. But unfortunately no one wanted to eat them the next day as they were pretty flavorless. This restaurant has been all over Newsday for a while as among the best Chinese food on Long Island, so I was looking forward to trying it but also tentative after reading some of the reviews following its transfer of ownership in 2020. The verdict: I've been missing out. The classics don't disappoint. Their chicken and broccoli and hot and sour soup were both flavorful. While the chicken was cut on the larger side, the broccoli was rather hard, and the dish was too garlicky for my preference, it was still a solid dish worth ordering on its own. Their hot and sour soup (big enough to serve two people) was thick and dense with what seemed like root vegetables. Foo Luck in Commack has a lighter yet spicier broth in their hot and sour. The dumplings were the real star of the show, or should I say its chili oil. The pork dumpling itself was mainly a vessel for that sweet and spicy chili oil, which we proceeded to put on the remainder of our meal, especially the rice. I wasn't particularly impressed with the hot sauce style dish, whose chicken was in a bland broth, but I also wasn't the one to order it. My partner said she liked it enough. We ate on a Friday night after the rush and the place was relatively empty. Four other tables came and went as did a parade of take-out. The inside is unadorned with a fair amount of tile and little ambiance. Still the wait staff was very attentive, tipping us off for the dumplings and keeping our water glasses full. In all, it was a great meal and I look forward to returning. One note is that the parking is rather tight. Found this based on other yelp reviews, and went for lunch here today with my mom, (after a bad breakup yesterday with a long-time other food spot). The food is fresh!! It's real. Shared all plates and we were very pleased with the chili wonton, hot and sour soup, and Kung pow beef dish. We look forward to coming back and enjoying more of the offerings here! I came here on Sunday around 6PM. The parking lot is small, maybe 10 spots. The restaurant is smaller than I expected with 12 tables and are setup really close to each other. Inside was clean and filled with people quickly. There were 2 waitresses that taking orders, delivering food and printing bills. Lacks of staff lead to some tables weren't be cleaned after customers left and waiting time for new customers to ne served. Staffs are friendly. I order Tso Chicken and Honey ribs.
