This is by far the best tasting thai food we've had on Long Island. Perfect spice, delicious and complex flavors. Everything you want out of the usual thai dishes - they nailed it. Four stars because the dine-in experience isn't great. They serve the dishes in plastic to-go containers even if you're dining in. I got a paper plate for my soupy curry which was just not ideal. Eating hot soup out of a plastic container is just unpleasant and I'm increasingly away of microplastics leaching into food when flimsy containers are super-heated. Thai Shack East won't serve you tap water to drink, but also won't allow you to bring in your own water to drink, so you have no choice but to buy a bottle of water. If we went here again we'd do takeout only so I could bring it home and eat out of a ceramic bowl with a real fork and drink free water from my sink. But the flavor is really worth it. read more

Very quaint hidden gem with delicious Thai food! Greeted so warmly by a woman who owns restaurant (or was strictly a chef). She was so sweet and delightful to us. Note well: Their dining room is takeout-style. You serve yourself and eat from takeout containers. And they do not serve water, by policy. Our Pad Thai and green curry were good dishes worth reordering when in the mood. My chicken was a little undercooked, as another reviewer had noted. There are many dishes I'd like to come back and try, especially for lunch. The ambience could be a lot better with a few fixes like a little light background music. The no water policy and not allowing external drinks is puzzling, especially considering that the rest of the experience is self-serve. We're less likely to stay to eat (or visit at all) when we have to buy bottled water, so whatever they're making from drinks doesn't compare to the lost business. I stumbled on this restaurant in a corner nook of the shopping center in Selden, New York. I went in and there was a sign that said 'no duck sauce, we are not Chinese food, We are Thai food'. I thought that was quite comical. I scanned the menu to find delicious foods and it did not disappoint. The staff is here is very friendly. I come frequently and they always remember me. I am vegan and they accommodate that when I place my order. I enjoy everything on the menu that I have tried this far. The mango with sticky rice is my favorite dessert and the masaman curry is my favorite entree. After reading the good reviews. Took a chance and came here when my usual place in Patchogue was closed. I had the spring rolls which were perfect and delicious. (Sometimes they are either too soggy or too stiff). My wife had the padwoosen with fresh tofu and i had the spicy basil with beef and chicken. The beef/chicken was tender and tasty. The vegetables were crisp and fresh in both dishes. The sauce was medium spicy and perfect. Everything was done in a rustic manner with large good portions. I ordered the Woonsen Pad Thai which is shrimp and chicken but was lost finding any of that in my swamp of noodles. Wow....don't walk...RUN to Thai Shack East. After hearing multiple reviews on Facebook over the last few months I finally made it here and it was absolutely worth the wait. My boyfriend and I started with Thai dumplings. They were delish and had a generous filling. They have steamed and fried available. We opted for fried. They weren't greasy at all. They were perfect. I ordered garlic sauté with shrimp. It was amazing in flavor! So much flavor in every bite. Generous portion of shrimp and veggies. I got it with medium spice and it was perfect! My boyfriend ordered Pad woonsen with beef. After each bite he kept saying how good it was. The owners/chef who I believe are also husband and wife spoke to us and made great small talk. Tried this place for the first time last night. It is conveniently located in a parking lot shared with other big name stores like Target and Home Depot. Walking in, it has a few aesthetics to give it that Thai feel, but more or less, it's like a Thai take out with tables you can just eat your orders there. There are no wait service or anything which isn't our priority anyway. The pro is that the owner and cook are from Thailand. However, the food is somewhat regular. Nothing to wow on really. I had the chicken pad Thai and while the noodles are not clumpy and cooked well, the chicken is a bit of a miss. It doesn't have that succulent taste to it and somewhat bland. My wife had the drunken noodle with chicken and they did cook to her specification, which was mild. She wasn't too impressed with it and felt it was more on the oily side. The inside was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was Amazing! It has been a long time since i have had good thai food that is not near the city. This is a family owned business in which the whole family helps out. I ordered chicken pad thai, chicken pad sew ew and chicken satay. All of which were very flavorful and made to order. My daughter was especially happy with her pad thai.
