Came here for dinner last night and we were greeted by their friendly staff, tasteful decor, and a full house. Our dinner lasted longer than it would've at another restaurant and I think this is primarily due to their floor being understaffed - another one or two waiter/waitress on the floor would've picked up the slack. We ordered Chicken Satay (It tasted good enough but I've had better.), Pad Thai with shrimp (When I eat at a Thai restaurant for the first time, I conduct a pad thai test. Pad thai is a common dish so if it isn't prepared right, the rest of the restaurant's menu is more than likely a waste of calorie intake. My test has never failed me and Thai House passed with a B+. I haven't discovered an abundance of good Thai restaurant in these parts so Thai House's respectable B+ will keep me returning.), and Thai House Cashew Chicken (This dish was tasty although it didn't have much cashews in it. Also, I felt like it tasted "Americanized" but maybe this can be solved if it was spicier. I'll have to try next time.). For drinks, we drank a pomegranate martini (I've tasted better elsewhere; and they don't pour anywhere near the brim but each was priced at $6.50 so I can't really complain on their pour level.) and Thai Coconut Pearl Tea (Even though I really ordered a Thai Coconut Bubble Tea, this tasted fine enough to stick with it. Although I did wish it was colder.). Their main dish prices range between $11 and $25, and they also offer a $19.95 prix fixe. Two random tid bits: 1) the average patron age decreased after 8:30 and it was interesting to see the room "get" younger; 2) the room can get very loud with chatter. I would come back to Thai House and I'll make sure to ask for my dishes to be a little bit spicier than their default spice level. read more

I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in my time, and I must say that this place is absolutely amazing. All of their food is fresh and delicious. A few favorites of mine have been the pad see yew, pad Thai, and drunken noodle (I like noodle dishes haha). But the absolute best thing on that menu is the glass noodle soup. When I say it's to die for, I mean it! That soup is like heaven on your tongue, its perfectly seasoned and equally light. So yes, I highly recommend Thai house to everyone! Great! I never had Thai food before, it was an awesome first experience! I'm glad I tried it. Definitely will make time to visit again soon! Only complaint is that it is a very small quaint place so I highly suggest making a reservation. My friends and I reserved ahead and they took us ten minutes after check in. We went here last night and the food was very fresh and tasted great. Our friend who ate with us went to Thailand several times said this is the closest Thai food he's had here in the states. We will be going back for sure. The place is very clean and the staff was very attentive. read more

I will start the review with this; unfortunately for Thai House, I've had a lot of Thai food. This is not nearly the worst, although it is also not nearly the best. Which is an absolute shame because the effort seems to be there; clean restaurant suitable for fine dining, energetic (if rushed) service, very elegant food presentation, and enough of a diverse menu that you're not stuck eating yellow / red / green / massaman / pad thai in rotation. But unfortunately, the flavor simply did not really materialize. My spicy noodle, a favorite from a number of Queens Thai take-outs, was oily and not spicey, at all. My wife's Massaman was peanuty... as in peanut buttery... and not much else. The Thai Wonton soup was hot (temperature) more than hot (spice). Final verdict: If you're not a heat-o-phile or haven't dabbled much in Southeast Asian food, Thai House is a great place to check out. But for more authentic flavors, head west to Queens. read more

Not the best Thai restaurant. The food is very salty when it should not be. They are trying to make up for flavor. If you want your blood pressure to rise than eat at the THAI HOUSE OF SMITHTOWN. Their spicy chicken wings are extremely salty and so is the sautéed chicken. The drunken noodle lacks seasoning and also is salty. Should be called SALTY THAI HOUSE. read more

Place is empty and they refused to seat us--the guy behind the bar was arrogant and borderline passive aggressive--we waited ate dinner and the table behind us and in front of us were still empty--the guy behind the counter should either be educated on how to manage or let go--in spite of him the food service was good and the meal was very good--would get so many stars if that fellow were gone. read more

The Thai House in Smithtown is hands down the best Thai food on Long Island! Not only is the food delicious but the linens and the restaurant itself is always spotless. Ordered to-go on Jan 9th. Spent close to sixty dollars. The food was so over salted it was basically inedible. We had to add water to the soup broth to eat it! The shrimp in the Hau Hin Shrimp was rubbery & the scallops were tasteless; the sautéed Ginger Chicken was overly gingered & very overpowering. We dine in frequently for lunch, occasionally for dinner. You cant beat the lunch specials. $8.95 for salad, spring roll and entree. Consistently excellent food. Spring rolls are outstanding. What a beautiful sparkling jewel in the heart of Smithtown! I have been here a couple of times and I've never been disappointed. The restaurant is small so I recommend making a reservation. The appetizers are varied and flavorful. I only wish they were a bit larger. I am a big fan of the curries, especially the Padang. It is hot and spicy and like heaven. The tables are close together which can be a challenge if you have a large party, but this place is perfect for date night. The wait staff is attentive and very accommodating. They answer questions willingly and offer suggestions. It is beautifully decorated, great music, and your wallet won't take a hit for authentic Thai. Check it out! read more

I LOVE the Thai House in Smithtown. The BEST Thai food on Long Island. I am not sure why people are complaining about long lines on Wednesday night and the fact that you should make a reservation. That should say something about the restaurant, that they keep their customers happy and coming back. I have never had a dish that I didn't like and I have tried so many things. The service is fast, if it's a busy night a little slower, but the owner who is from Thailand is he chef and everything is authentic and amazing in taste. The chef walks around making sure people are happy with her food and the waitresses are so nice. If you follow them on facebook every day there is one entrée or appetizer for free. I Love this restaurant and will go back as I am there almost every week. One of the very best Thai restaurants on Long Island. The service from the young ladies is terrific. They are very sweet and caring. The food always comes out delicious. Tried this place for the first time with my friend then I brought my fiancé here a couple of days later. Both times the food was PHENOMENAL. I'm a vegetarian and found the menu to have a large selection for me. It's an extremely small, quaint place with a friendly staff that as to please. When I went with my friend we told the waitress it was our first time trying thai food. The head chef came out to thank us for coming and asked how our experience was. We will definitely be regulars. Had a business lunch with 2 associates today, both love Thai so thought they would enjoy eating at the Thai House as neither had dined here before. My experience has always been very good however unfortunately not this time. Started with dumplings and spring rolls, good not great. Next was the salad, mine was cucumber, again nothing great but I guess how great can a salad be? For entrees we all had Pad Thai, they had chicken I had pork, must say very underwhelming somewhat devoid of taste, sauce was runny to me it seemed like my dish was leftover from the weekend, regardless just not good. My two associates are huge fans of Thai Angel this visit made them want to go back, shame, Thai House could have gained to customers. Only reason I would recommend is I think/ hope it was just a off day. read more

The food here is great. It's my go to Thai spot. We generally get takeout but have dined in as well. We always seem to go on Mother's Day and they are busy therefore never too upset that service can be slow. Try the Basil Chicken and beef satay. read more

We decided to order take-out from Thai house for mother's day. We are new to Smithtown and were eager to try this decently-rated Thai restaurant. We were THOROUGHLY disappointed and will never eat there again. I had the Tamarind duck and found that when I picked up my order the cost was greater than the prices listed on the website. I brought this to the attention of the server who thanked me for letting him know, but did not honor the website's price. This would not have bothered me that much if the duck was actually good. The portion was VERY SMALL and the duck was unsatisfying (overall, 2 out 10). My wife ordered the chicken Pad Thai and was similarly disappointed. It had only a few pieces of dry chicken and was unbelievably under-seasons = tasteless and dry. We have sampled a great deal of Thai restaurants in the past and are really not hard people to please when it comes to food. I would like to note that I have never written a review like this before. I just want to warn anyone who thinks they are going to get a satisfying meal from this place. read more

Been coming here for years. Food always delicious. Tonight we were treated so rudely. We waited 15 minutes for our 7:00 reservation (not a big deal). A couple walked in 5 minutes after us and were 20 minutes late for their reservation and were given the 1st table that opened up. We weren't even given an explanation until we asked. Apparently it doesn't matter if you are on time for your reservation. The person who is really late goes first. That's their policy. We were told we'd get the next table. WE LEFT. Very disappointed that we were treated so rudely. read more

Pretty average Suffolk Thai food place, similar to Thai angel, Raan Thai, Lemongrass etc. might all be owned by the same people honestly because everything tastes exactly the same in all of them. Tom yum was okay, better than other places but not really dazzling or plentiful for 5$ in any means. Drunken noodle was way too sweet and not spicy at all but optional peppers and spicy sauce definitely were great add on. Unfortunately dish itself still didn't really taste like much. First time I've ever had Thai food and it was very good. Service was quick and staff was very attentive.

Came here with my husband for lunch. The waitress was very nice, service was good. They have a very nice selection of craft beers with good pricing. We had the Fried Tofu appetizer. Was not fond of this. I know that Tofu is flavorless but, I guess I expected some kind of seasoning either in the Tofu or on the breading it was fried in. So we have these bland fried squares and a sauce to accompany it. It was meant to be a sweet chili sauce but was neither richly sweet or spicy the way I have had before in such a sauce. We also tried the thai spring rolls with plum sauce which were crunchy and delicious. The plum sauce was again missing that rich sweet mark but, was still better than the sweet chili one. The spring rolls were the best thing we had. Each of us had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and ordered medium spicy. My husband ordered it extra spicy. I was so disappointed. The cashews were almost rubbery, not toasted, firm or meaty like I had expected. The dish was almost mushy with no heat whatsoever. It was hard to find any heat in my husbands extra spicy version as well. I have had a similar menu item at Lawan's in Patchogue (kao pahd supparod) that put this one to shame! To top the dining experience I became very ill, probably my own fault, trying to drown the lackluster fried tofu with chili sauce from the condiment serving dish. this place is pretty good I had the mussels appetizer the mussels were plump but almost over cooked the broth they were steamed in was pretty good with a nice kick I had the panang duck for an entree which was alright I enjoyed the sauce a little more than the duck which was made with coconut milk and was also very spicy and I had the fried ice cream which is not very good it looks great though it comes out with a flaming shot of rum I think I would have enjoyed the shot by its self also had a few thai beers which were very nice the place looks nice and service was good I will go again good for a local trip read more

We came here today for lunch around 2:15. I noticed the server looking at her watch when we came in.The restaurant was empty. The server asked if we were here for lunch. I thought that was odd. However, she was very sweet and attentive. The decor is lovely and the bathroom was clean. We ordered the salad. The cucumber dressing was good. However, I found a very thin, hard white "thing" in my salad. At first I though it was fish bone. On closer inspection, perhaps it was a hardened, bean sprout, I should have said something but I did not. The spring rolls were "eh" kind of greasy. The red curry smelled "off" and funny to me. Hubby did not think it was great, but ate the whole thing. I did not care for the shrimp and basil. Perhaps my taste buds were off. I gave it two stars because the atmosphere was lovely and the service was pleasant. Also hubby ate everything, so maybe it was just me. PS My stomach is rumbling a bit. read more

Small, quiet relaxing atmosphere. Food & service are excellent. I recommend the Thai House Tapas as an appetizer. Glass Noodle Soup, Pad Thai with either chicken or shrimp are my favorites. Duck dish I was told was very good along with the other dishes our friends had. The other couple loved the desserts. They even have lunch specials.
