Matcha
Allie H.

This lovely gem of a place serves up delicious food. Started with the shrimp which had a wonderful coconut flavor. The matcha was a creamy delicious drink on a warm day like today. The spicy glass noodle salad was delicious. It's definitely something different than what I would normally get but it was perfectly light but filling - also big portions!

Whenever I have my hair appointment, I try to stop next door at Thai Fresh to take advantage of their amazing happy hour. They have half off all of their small plates and have some amazing choices to choose from. This time I placed a to-go order at the counter. Service during happy hour was friendly and efficient, even with a steady crowd. The vibe is relaxed and casual, which makes it a good place to sit down and unwind with a few small plates and drinks. I ordered the shiitake battered mushrooms, Thai beef jerky, and tom kha soup. The mushrooms are battered with 512 IPA beer with Thai chilies, & soy sauce, were crispy and well-seasoned, with a satisfying crunch and earthy flavor that made them a standout appetizer. They are served with Thai basil dressing that is a flavor explosion and I like to dip everything in it. The Thai beef jerky, sirloin marinated with soy sauce & served with sticky rice was flavorful and chewy in a good way, with a nice balance of sweet and savory seasoning that made it easy to snack on. The tom kha soup with coconut milk, lemongrass, galangal, cilantro, kaffir lime leaves, white button mushrooms, & choice of protein was the highlight for me, rich, creamy, and comforting with that classic coconut and lemongrass profile. It had a nice depth of flavor without being too heavy, and the balance of tangy and savory made it really enjoyable. I selected tofu for my protein and ended up ordering 2 cups! Overall, Thai Fresh happy hour is a great choice if you want good Thai flavors in a low-key setting. The dishes are well-executed and have amazing flavor without being too spicy, and it's a nice spot for trying a variety of items.

Drunken noodles were very good, and you would never know they were gluten-free. They had a great grilled flavor. Portion size was generous. Service was good. We ordered a blueberry tea, and it was heavier on the tea side of things. The lemon bar and brownie were also very good. The lemon bar had elements of coconut that we weren't expecting, but it was still good.

I tried Thai Fresh on a recommendation with a few friends! I did not realize how big it would be and how many options! We all got different meals and shared family style so we could try each thing! I tried the drunken noodles "Pad Kee Mao" with beef. It was delicious. I thought it would be a bit more spicy but I am sure you can always add spice if you would like! Even though I enjoyed the dish I would get something different next time as they have so many options! One thing that blew me away was the Coconut Soup "Tom Kha". My friend ordered it and it was definitely a favorite of ours! I highly recommend trying it!!

Came back for dinner and it did not disappoint. Loved all of the different flavors in all the dishes we tried. I think they are still working out the kinks in their service, but bear with them, the food is amazing. APPS Curry Rice Balls - 6/10 sauce was good but balls could use a little more curry, kind of bland Golden tofu - 10/10 great flavor and loved the peanut dipping sauce Coconut fried shrimp - 10/10 delicious batter and dipping sauce ENTREES Pad Thai with Chicken - 10/10 loved the heaviness of the fish sauce in this. Is now in my top pad Thais in Austin Yellow Curry - 9/10 very good, exactly what you'd expect Coconut vermicelli - 10/10 WOW. This dish was so incredibly delicious. Would come back soon just for this. And huge portion While you're here you have to go try their dairy free ice cream for dessert. You can order it at your table or walk over to the cafe and get it. It is coconut based but tastes just like regular ice cream. Trust me, I hate coconut based ice cream and this one conquers all.

The servers here are very nice and our food came out pretty fast! I didn't love the Thai basil spritz - but everything else was great. I will also say that the parking here is almost non-existent so be prepared to potentially park on the street.

Pad sea Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, Thai Basil Agua Fresca
YuShan M.

This is quaint, casual restaurant tuck away in a quiet neighborhood near south Lamar. Restaurant parking is limited but you can find plenty street parking near by. We tried pad sea ew, pineapple fried rice and Thai basil fresca. Pad sea ew is seasoned just right combined with perfect chew on flat noodle. Pineapple fried rice is sweet and savory, curry flavor is on point not overpowering. Thai basil fresca reminds me virgin mojito, it's refreshing and exotic. Service is good and attentive. Overall, we enjoy this restaurant and would come back. Only have 4 star because it's kinda pricy for casual Thai restaurant.

Beer Battered Shitake Mushrooms-Not Gluten Free

Thai Fresh had interesting and authentic food, we liked the fried mushrooms but wish there was more. We sat outside under the light when it wasn't too hot, and it was a good vibe. We had kind servers and it was a nice dinner!

I went to Thai Fresh with my friend, who had just finished with a hair appointment nearby. She suggested meeting at 5:00pm, which worked out well, because it was just in time for Happy Hour. There is a choice of seating: in the dining room for full service or in tbe other room to order at the counter. We chose the latter, making ordering quick and easy. Their Happy Hour menu includes items under "First Bites," or appetizers. I was impressed that a lot of the items were gluten free, perfect for my diet. And they were all reasonably priced. I ordered the Golden Tofu, which consisted of triangles of tofu, dipped in soy sauce, then breaded with golden gluten free flour, turmeric, curry powder, and sea salt. It was served with peanut sauce. It was yummy, and just enough to fill me up before a movie screening. The server was friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant, with customer-created artwork on the walls. I will definitely go back.

Chicken Rice

Thai Fresh was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. We ordered the chicken and rice and larb, and both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were craving -- light but satisfying. Don't skip the papaya salad combo with the chicken wing. The balance of tangy, spicy, and crispy is spot on and makes for a great add-on to the meal. And of course, the Thai iced tea is a must -- legit, creamy, and refreshing. Simple, well-executed Thai food that always hits the spot. Thai Fresh continues to deliver.

Delicious! Good prices, food comes out fast and it is casual too. You can bring your laptop and work from the cafe side too

Jungle noodles

Had an amazing meal here post half marathon run! The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the vegetarian egg rolls and the jungle noodles, and wow the flavors were on point. The spice level in the noodles was fire in the best way possible - bold, flavorful, and exactly what I hoped for after 13.1 miles. To top of off, I tried their coconut milk- based ice cream, an it might honestly be the best coconut ice cream I've ever had. Super creamy and the perfect cool-down after those noodles.

We ordered the cheese roll, pork bely, khon wings, brussel sprouts, fried tofu, pad see ew, Massaman curry, roti, pandang beef, moo ping, tum tad, crab fried rice, pineapple fried rice and all of it was amazing. Found this place as it was a recommendation from someone who was in the Thai restaurant business and came highly recommended. I am definitely going back but would love it if the owners would consider opening a place in the Lakeway area.

I ordered over the phone, which was an easy and quick process. They said it would be ready in 20…read moremin and it was. The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

Hands down my favorite place in Austin. The food, team, and vibe of the restaurant is spectacular…read more I feel you can never go wrong with a dish here (from the items I have tried). My favorite dish is definitely the Old School Pad Thai. I will say I did not expect to have the Pad Thai as my top dish during my visit. Being in Austin for the last 5 years I have forgotten what a good Pad Thai is like because this dish just melts in your mouth and genuinely feels like the real deal. This dish has so much flavor from spice, umami, sweet, sour, incorporating everything so nicely together. If you plan on stopping by, please do yourself a favor and try the pad thai. The dish I felt fell short would be the Creamy Curry Crab. It was still delicious (again, you can't go wrong here). I wish the curry was a little creamier, but everything else was there. The soft shell crab was delicious and has the perfect crispness to it. Also, a special dish in my heart is the Pla Scallop! Every time I go, I always have to order it as an appetizer for the table. The sauce is so beautifully made and I usually really like to keep it at the table even when the scallops are gone to use as a dipping sauce for other dishes. Another dish I highly recommend is the Banana Blossom Salad. Similarly, dipping sauce is chefs kiss and always a staple for the table. The shrimp is cooked so well with a light crispy outside. Every time I have a visitor coming into town I always recommend coming to Kiin Di at least once. You will not be disappointed!

If I could give kiin di a 100/10 I would. No hesitation!…read more Thai Wings are crispy, flavorful and have a great amount of meat on them. Their roti is warm, flakey and buttery.
