Thai Emerald is a great Thai restaurant. We have never had anything that isn't good. We always start off with the coconut soup. Next my husband has the basil chicken (his favorite!). I have had the cashew chicken, amazing chicken, panang salmon and prik pao. It's all really fresh and great flavor. The waitstaff is always friendly and we have never had to wait a long time for our food. The restaurant is nice to inside but they do a lot of takeout as well. read more

My favorite outdoor seating restaurant in the area. I have been here many times and always great experience. Outdoor seating is just so nice and romantic, the lighting with the water feature is so relaxing. People is really nice and dedicated here. Amazing basil rolls with the thai peanut sauce. Coconut chicken soup and incredible curries, all so good! Last night, I had for the first time (thanks to the waiter suggestion) the mango sticky rice as dessert... just delicious! ... and by the way, the cold sake is served in a cute and interesting hand blown glass jar. read more

Living around the corner this has been our go to Thai place for the last 10+ years. The food is delicious though the service can be spotty. Most of the time we get to go as it's a small place and gets crowded on weekends. But lately we've noticed a change: the food is still tasty but the prices keep going up and the quantity down. Yesterday I paid $17 for Pad Thai with 5 pieces of shrimp in it. $17!!?? And something like $15 for basil tilapia that was 90% onions. Not going back again. Not all restaurants aspire to be innovative or 'OMG-delicious.' Sometimes A-OK is good enough. Thai Emerald is certainly good, they clearly have clientele; the restaurant is nicely decorated and service is quick and pleasant. Our meal was typical Thai -- though to be fair, we didn't order enough to make a true assessment of the chef's capabilities. T and I started with basil rolls. Thick and tasty dipping sauce, typical rolls, nothing that I haven't had before. We shared a hot pot of 'seafood combination' soup, which sounded better than it tasted -- though, when I filled my bowl a second time, the lemongrass broth grew on me and tasted better than the first go 'round. (The seafood was nondescript.) Ground chicken larb was good, albeit dry. It didn't stand up to the larb we had in Hawaii. (I didn't understand the purpose of the block of cabbage on the plate; one couldn't tear off the leaves.) On the other hand, our friends raved about their meals. I've had both good and just decent experiences here at Thai Emerald. I have eaten there about 10 times and I think I've got the average experience down. Eating In - food is fresh, service is slow. Takes longer than your average work lunch break to get in and out and on with your day. Take Out - food can be hit or miss. I've picked up cold food before and Ive picked up chicken that tasted almost fishy like the oil was reused. Most times its ok. Pick up is fast. If you like your food spicy youll want to get a container of chilli powder on the side. They keep this on the table for diners but when you get to go, it can be depressing if you dont realize your thai hot dish is actually mild until you are back at your desk. read more

This was seriously the worst meal we've had from Thai Emerald. (All items were Togo. As we generally get them as we live in Canton) We ordered 2 Green Curries, medium. Not medium at all. Mild, at best. Sauce was not even close to their normal. Bland. Veggies were subpar and bamboo shoots were tough as nails. We also ordered Pad See Ew. Not good. We have gotten this so many times, it has been my kids favorite. It was awful. Again, no flavor. Barely any broccoli. I asked for no spice, which is what we always get, but this was no flavor. There were lunch soups that went with them. Too bad only 1 survived. They tied the bag so tightly around them, I'm guessing they may have even pushed them down, that the bottom 2 were broken and leaked all over the bag they were in. Thankfully, the soup didn't leak into my car; because, had it leaked in my car, they would be paying for an auto detail right now. I'm so irritated and disappointed!! This is the 3rd time we eat here - It's 3 strikes and out. We landed there for our son's sake where he likes one dish - the cashew tofu. To start with the server showed least interest and couldn't even get a smile on her face. The spring rolls were lackluster, Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle were blah.. sour tasting with no flavor. We asked for the hot sauce to go with the starters - it never showed up till the main course. This is the first time where we ordered Thai Spicy and it felt like medium . The waitress didn't even bother to ask why two persons plates were literally untouched. On the whole not at all a good experience.:-( $150 spent badly. The interior was classy. A huge patio also doubles their seating capacity. The Emerald Cashew Chicken was full of flavor. The Pad Thai was ordinary but in a good way. Dessert was a pretty presentation of mini fried banana bits with a honey drizzle surrounding a generous scoop of delicious mango ice cream! Customer service is good friendly staff. Ordered take out and when i got home i had a half of a container of food. Most Thai places put the peanut and small veggies you sprinkled in a separate container not Thai emerald. So the peanut and condiments took up half the container. They charged me full price tho. OMG! Soooo good! My hubby got the spicy pineapple fried rice with chicken and he loved every aspect of it! There was plenty of chicken, cashews, pineapple, etc! Flavor was perfect and spice was on point! I had angel noodles with chicken. It was absolutely the best! I always add salt but the flavors were excellent and there was just the right amount to make me say, "I'm glad I didn't get any more because I wanna eat it all and I'm full"!!! It wasn't the cheapest but since we have such a hard time finding good food and service, it was well worth it! Small cozy restaurant with easy access from the main road and plenty of parking. Three of us had dinner last night. Somewhat limited menu selection for appetizers and soups. We ordered Prik Pao which had a nice garlic flavor, Sweet and Sour which was spot on and the Red Curry which was nice as well. Decent service such as refilling our glasses and removing the empty dishes. The table felt a tad small for the three of us because we had these three large plates for the entrees plus our individual serving plates since we chose to share all the dishes. Because the entree plates were large with large lips, the portions appeared small. I think serving the entrees on a slightly smaller bowl shaped dish would have given us more room and make the portions appear bigger as well. Just a suggestion. Four stars because the prices are a tad high for the amount of food served. read more

August 12, 2017 We have been infrequent patrons since this restaurant opened. We met the initial owner. It was wonderful and we returned year after year. August 12 was our annual return to celebrate a birthday. Very disappointed in the dinners. Party of six and four reported less than satisfied with their dinner. In prior years everyone was very satisfied. If you look at our Yelp reports we are very up beat about our reviews. We try to frequent those places that don't disappoint because we don't eat out often and view it as a special occasion. This was a birthday party of six and happy to report the birthday girl enjoyed her basil duck! The rest of us in talking afterward did not enjoy our dishes especially the specials with crab. The soft shell crab special was especially disappointing. It was two halves and one half tasted like it was not fresh crab. It was an Expensive Special and the diner wondered if they made it special because the crab was going bad. No one complained about their dinner because of the celebration, but we also noticed that no one asked if the dinner was good. When we got home one complained that the shrimp in her dish was meager, one said the crab Rangoon tasted old and one said that it was just not the same delicious dish that he had had previously. We wonder if the original owner is no longer there. And two were just too polite to say anything at all. Too many good/great Thia places to go to so this will either be fixed or the place will die a slow death. I would also add that the place was packed after we got there so maybe they just can't handle a full crowd. But I think most would not mind waiting if the food quality was maintained. read more

Yum! Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. The tofu pad thai was fabulous, with triangles of nicely cooked tofu and a great balance of flavor. The mister's prik pao, which he ordered hot (but not Thai hot!), left him sweating - which he apparently likes. Our friend's panang was medium, and I could handle a few bites of that - and the flavor of that dish was also delish - curry coconutty goodness! I ordered my pad thai mild, and fortunately it was, in fact, a mouth-pleasing American mild. In a little shopping strip that doesn't appear from the outside to be anything special, but inside it's like a little retreat. My fiance and I sort of stumbled upon this place but will definitely return for date night. It is a bit more expensive than your average Thai place- definitely not a "take-out" type place. The atmosphere as very subdued and the service was good. Oh yeah, about the food. Appetizers were not the strong point of the meal. The Crab Rangoon was disappointing. The breading was very heavy (not light and crispy as it should be) and severely lacking on filling. The calamari was overcooked and heavy on breading as well. The entrees were delicious! I had the Pad Kee Mow and my fiance had the Duck Curry. Both were excellent. I love my Thai food spicy but a lot of places do not really listen to non-Thai (read white girl) customers when they say they want it spicy. But these people took me seriously- it was SPICY! And good! My fiance on the other hand does not like his food too spicy and it came out just right, and the flavor was amazing. read more

We've eaten here many times over the years. If I'd reviewed this restaurant based upon our earlier visits, I'd have probably given 5 stars - but when we went there this week, my wife ordered the Basil Lamb Rack (as she often does here) and (for $18.95!) she got 3 small chops, whereas the same dish used to have 5 or 6 chops. Other reviewers have mentioned the stinginess of meat portions, and it's becoming a problem at Thai Emerald. This is a shame, as this really is an excellent Thai restaurant - relatively authentic Thai food, and if you ask for 'Thai Hot', that's what you'll get! The menu is broad but not overwhelming, and the ambiance and service are excellent. They also have a very nice web site, so you can review food and wine choices from home. I appreciate that restaurants (and consumers!) have to deal with increasing costs of quality ingredients, but even then it seems that halving food quantities while keeping the same, relatively high prices is not the way to attract repeat customers. Thai Emerald - listen up! You're charging prices that are too high for smaller and smaller quantities of food. There's a famous parable about how many sesame seeds you can eliminate from a burger bun before the consumer notices and stops buying your burgers. You may have reached the tipping point! read more

I'm a creature of habit, what can I say? On my most recent return to trip to Thai Emerald, I played it safe with the Basil Duck. And, it was just as delicious as I remembered. A generous portion of tender and well sauced duck with piles of perfectly sauteed fresh vegetables. It's definitely craveable. However, my dad's Basil Lamb was UNBELIEVABLE. Several of the most tender lamp chops I've ever tasted cooked to perfection in that same tasty sauce with plenty of crispy fried basil on top. These lamb chops probably are among the top 10 cuts of meat I've had in my life. This dish is truly a must order. They seem to have scaled down the spiceyness, because my "medium" spicy dish was a little on the mild side for my tastes, even though I remembered it being pretty hot before. Next time I'll be going with the "hot." Really the only thing that keeps this gem from getting that fifth star is the slow service. Our server walked by our obviously empty plates several times before clearing them, and we were never offered a refill for our hot tea. But when they were there, they were very friendly and polite. I have really come to love the consistency and authenticity of the dishes here at Thai Emerald. Thai has a lot of competition these days, but rarely is it done right and done consistently right. I've been frequenting Thai Emerald for over two years now and have never had a bad experience. Love the authentic curry, but where they really shine are the noodle dishes. Not many restaurants have the ability to pull off authentic Thai noodles, but these guys sure do. The soups are amazing and the specialties are overall great. A little on the pricey side for a Thai joint, but well worth it. Take out is also timely and just as good as being there. Waitresses dress well and the place has a nice, candle-lit feel to it inside while offering a patio for the lazy days of spring and fall where sitting outside with a Singha is pure delight! I recommend the three flavor salmon, panang gai (red curry chicken), and friend rice (shrimp is my favorite, next to crab which nobody in Atlanta offers). The atmosphere is nice, inside or out. The only reason we picked Thai Emerald instead of a Thai place closer to us was the strong Yelp reviews... And we were definitely not disappointed. We started with the Tom Kha Kai (chicken coconut soup) and some crab rangoon. The soup, which is a Thai standard, had a perfect balance of coconut and lime, with the right amount of cilantro. It was probably the most nuanced Tom Kha Kai I've ever had. For dinner we tried the red curry and Thai basil. Both were delicious, although I think the red curry was definitely better. We ordered "medium" on both dishes, which was definitely a decent amount of heat. In the future when we want Thai, we'll be going to Thai Emerald. read more

I used to eat at Thai Emerald at least once a month for years. The food wasn't bad, but the servers were all somber. There was one server, a yeti-type woman named Lurch (In Thai, Lurch means never smiling). When she started working at Thai Emerald, I felt that it was time to try some different Thai places. Sometimes when Lurch was assigned to our table, I would fart when she was walking by to try and see a change of expression on her face. I went there for lunch today, and honestly, it was a one-star meal. The basil rolls had barely the thinnest portion of shrimp. At $4.50 for two small rolls they are really overpriced. I ordered Angel noodles with shrimp for my lunch and if I was a pre-schooler it would still not have filled me up. For $12.95 I was outraged! I have been eating at Thai House once-a-week and they have much tastier offerings and are super friendly.
