We've ordered delivery and dined in. This is our favorite Thai spot in the area! Parking is tricky for dine in but the staff is so friendly and the ambiance is lovely. I love the dishes the curry in served in. The panang curry is now our favorite. It's just perfectly creamy, savory, and sweet. The pad Thai is 10/10. I love it. Thai Dara 2 is great! I went in today to order takeout for our medical office staff. I noticed a mistake when I picked up my food (likely poor communication on my part), and they fixed it very quickly and kindly. The food is fresh and delicious. The lunch specials are priced very well and are big portions. There are options for everyone's dietary restrictions, too, which is so great to find. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and would be a great place for an intimate lunch or dinner. First time here and it has been two miles away for around 15 years. A Thai fave of mine for a couple decades has been the Green Papaya Salad. Here, the execution is good but misses in ingredients I am used to as well as the degree of slicing/mincing of ingredients. The dressing was very traditional and excellent. The fish cake appetizer and Jungle Green Curry were outstanding. I am not sure if our server was the owner but he was attentive very helpful on dish suggestions. Pad see ew was fantastic!!!!! Like outstanding good. The sample platter appetizer was perfect for friends and surprisingly (not the biggest fan of fried foods) I lovvvveeeddd the Thai spring rolls. I wanted to eat all of them and almost did! The regular spring rolls were also a huge hit with everyone. I loved the chicken satay and the peanut sauce was just right. They give a great amount of rice with the curry and the green curry was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and welcoming. Nothing disappointed and exceeded our expectations. The portions are generous, too. We found Thai Dara in Dana Point, and when they opened a restaurant in San Clemente, we were ecstatic. This Thai place is less than 1 minute from handlebars ice cream in a plaza where there are little bit of establishments so plenty of parking. Restaurant is next to a sushi place so can't be that hard to miss. Inside is very small with few tables to sit. Majority of its customers order to-go so don't be fool if the place empty. Like any typical Thai place, I order the pad Thai and Tom yum soup. Certain dishes can go from 1-5 spice level with 5 being the hottest. Like always, chose level 5 spice. Got myself a thai tea and the cup is huge. Very sweet but yet good Whats different about this Tom yum soup is you get giant mushrooms and carrots so that's a plus. At level 5 spice...it's not that not hot if you are spicy lover. Service is very attentive despite with only 1 waitress. So that's a plus. This was my first time trying Thai Dara. I had the yellow curry with medium spice and it was so flavorful and had tons of tofu and veggies. Medium spicy is pretty spicy which was delightful but be mindful in case you are sensitive. It is super cute and intimate inside. The staff were super nice and service was very quick. Worst Thai food I have ever had. Sorry to be blunt, but it was that bad. It's the Kmart of restaurants. My wife's Crying Tiger was so tough, it was inedible. Great little neighborhood Thai in San Clemente. I would rate it so far one of my favorite Thai places in San Clemente and Dana Point area. Food is always fresh, all classic Thai dishes which a generously portioned to share. This place doesn't tend to get busy that often and you can usually find a spot easily without a reservation. We tried many dishes here and you can't go wrong with a Pad Thai; Tom Kha or Tom Yum soup, several appetizers like wontons or egg rolls or fried rice. Tahi Dara has many curries and vegetable dishes. Ordered the glass noodle shrimp salad. Received the plate with only two shrimp. For the price this is pretty sub par for the price. We asked the manager if the portion size was a mistake.
