I have passed by this restaurant many times, and I just got to try it. They are located on Magnolia Ave, close to the Robinson St corner. Thai Cafe is a quaint Thai restaurant family-owned and ran by family. We got there right before the lunch rush, so we got seated right away. The staff is so nice; they make you feel at home. Our orders were taken and a few minutes later we were brought a small salad plate; loved the peanut dressing. Real fast the restaurant got packed, and many pickup orders kept going out the door. Our food came out and wow. I ordered the Seafood Massuman Curry and my coworkers had Yellow Curry and, I believe it was, Pad Thai. My seafood curry was so flavorful. I also ordered the Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice; divine! The mango was so sweet and tender and the sticky rice was so coconutty; I can't say enough of how delicious this desert was. Needed a quick bite and popped into this place. Food was pretty solid but I'm giving this place 5 stars for the people inside. Visited Thai Cafe for the first time with few of my colleagues on our lunch hour this past week and wow! What a treat it was. As someone that works downtown, I will admit, I do a poor job of visiting most of the restaurants and eateries in the area that are within walking distance because I tend to go to my usual spots. I am, indeed, a creature of habit, so, I'll always opt for my tried and trusted spots over spots I have never been. However, I can full heartedly say, Thai Cafe will be added to my rotation of lunch spots. We got there just before their lunch rush hour kicked into high gear and was able to be seated right away. Our server was so sweet and attentive. Though the service did slow as the traffic picked up for lunch, the quality of service was still good - which is always a plus. As for food, I got the drunken noodles (no spice) and it was quite tasty. I should have asked for extra basil (only because I love basil in my noodle dishes). I paired it with a Thai tea and YUM!! The Thai tea was really good!! The only thing I didn't get a chance to try but will when I visit next is the mango sticky rice! I LOVE mango sticky rice and I basically ate it EVERY SINGLE DAY when I visited Bangkok and Phuket a few years ago. So, I'm looking forward to trying their sticky rice. I tried this place last week on my lunch break and it's actually really good. I ordered the cheese rolls which were super yummy. It had a nice cream filling and paired well with the sweet and sour sauce . I also ordered the Thai lo mein. It was very flavorful. The only thing I wish was they had extra sauce. I enjoy this downtown gem! It's very close to my office so I'm able to get in before the lunch rush. The prices are fair and service is quick. I like to order the spring rolls and the pad see ew with chicken. They always bring out a ginger salad with the meal. The dressing is tasty and they sell it by the bottle. The pad see ew is a nice sized portion and cooked well. The veggies still have a crisp crunch and the noodles and perfectly tender. The sauce is savory and not too salty. I order it mild but they can add spice to the order like other Thai restaurants. The chicken is never dry. I've never had to park here, but there are garages and street parking near by. read more

Wanted to find a new Thai place for lunch, then we discovered this place from online. Great little cozy, family run restaurant. 1st thing we took notice from the moment we arrived is, "THE PLACE IS PACKED!!", with only local & repeat business, great sign! After 15 minutes wait, we got seated, ordered Thai Tea & Thai Coffee, Tom Yum Soup, and Fried Tofu to start. Then the Peanut Chicken, and Thai Basil Combo Fried Rice for main entrees. Foods & drinks overall were good! What we really appreciated is that we got our starters 1st, and the main dishes didn't come till starters were finished. Nice move!! (10/26/2023) We have started to explore the Thai options downtown close to work. The "kids" said this place was "bumping" when they went to pickup our takeout order. I got a Drunken Noodle, "hot" (but not "Thai hot). Drunken Noodles are the standard for which I compare all Thai places to each other. This one had very clumpy, mushy noodles, and pretty much zero heat. There were a few tough pork pieces, and a stray carrot or two, but mostly, just clumpy nood.es. The Golden Wontons were stuffed with a finely ground, black peppery chicken mixture, no discernable shrimp. The Summer Rolls with shrimp were plump, had fresh basil and one nice piece of shrimp. I work downtown and coworkers wanted thai for lunch. I placed order thru uber eats for delivery which was prompt. I spent $180 dollars on this lunch order and stir fry basil chicken instead of basil fried rice with chicken. Uber eats would not refund for their mix up. Drunken noodles which looked in appearance tasty was in fact totally bland like they forgot to add half of the sauce ingredients. It absolutely tasted like nothing except basil. I eat thai quite often and order drunken noodles fairly often so I know what it's supposed to taste like. Also don't order the sticky rice with mango- the rice was a hard clump and ws too salty. Don't use uber eats at all since e they won't refund you if they mess up. Go here yourself and check your order to see if it is correct befor you leave. Not bad for a quick Thai stop downtown. I was craving Thai food and decided to drop by here. There were only a few tables occupied, with a lot more people coming in for pick-up orders. Because of that, the service was good and quick. I was served a complimentary salad soon after ordering my food. It was simple but good, with a peanut sauce dressing. I ordered the beef drunken noodles which came in a good portion size. As far as flavor, I felt it was a little lacking in the sauce itself... I can't precisely identify what ingredient specifically, but it needed a little more oomph. It was good, but I would've liked a little more flavor in the sauce. This is definitely a more family run restaurant it seems, or mom and pops as they say. It had a chill feel and the service was great. Our waitress was so good. She did all the tables in there. The server was nice even she served the Drunken Noodle instead of Pad See Ew but my friend thought it was fine and found out that it tasted good! I had Pad Basil which I thought was great too. Today I went to have lunch there and they forgot to serve me a salad. They didn't ask if I wanted to have a drink. The food was terrible both Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle. This place is why the word "yum" describes Thai dishes. Best Massaman Curry I've had in a very long time. At lunchtime, you have 3 options: 1) call-in your order for pick-up, 2) arrive around 11:30a and start ordering 3) arrive any time around 12p and be prepared to wait for a table to open. Thai Cafe - a smidge bigger than a Kardashian closet - does have ample seating, but it fills QUICKLY. I counted roughly 20 patrons at about 12 large tables and just 2 servers handling all that business - and they hustle. There is no "wait to be seated," just SIT. I also recommend knowing what you want before you go - save yourself some time and the servers a lot of back and forth with menus. That ginger dressing? Delicious! My Massaman Curry? See the first sentence. And here's what I have to say about their Thai Tea...SLURRRP! My food arrived piping hot, I mean straight out the pan.
