Amazing food!! I was surprised at the portion size. It was a huge plate. Most Thai spots I find are either expensive as heck, not authentic, small portions or all of the above. If you've been to Thailand or east asia in general you know that it is completely different there. This was THE MOST AUTHENTIC food I've had outside of Asia. Unfortunately I'll have to give this place a lower rating because after I ate I was told that they make Panang curry with coconut milk and whole milk, although the menu description for this item only mentions coconut milk. What a gem deep in Orlando. It is an old Taco Bell, that's been converted to a mom and pop Thai restaurant. The food is 100% authentic. Don't miss the crispy wings and panang curry, both are instant hits! Portions are double to triple. So many Thai restaurants claim to be the best in town, and I'm determined to find out which one is truly the best. It's the perfect job for me because I love Thai food. Mee Thai makes no such claims of superiority, but maybe they should? I ordered a Thai Coffee and others at the table got Thai Tea, so I got to try both (both delicious). Dinner comes with a small salad to start. The dressing (I think it was a sesame dressing) was so tasty I could have just had a big salad and been satisfied. We ordered two appetizers, fried tofu and egg rolls. I had the pad garlic with tofu and I also was able to try the massaman curry and lo mein ordered by others at the table. Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. My stir-fry contained a generous portion of all my favorite vegetables--broccoli, carrots, zucchini. On top of the yummy food, the service was excellent! Very attentive, fast, and friendly. I will continue on my quest to try all the Thai restaurants in Orlando but I know I'll be back for more Mee Thai when I want something I know is great. I was hesitant at first but all my buddies at the VW dealership next door said the food was amazing! Having been to Thailand, I never know what I am walking into!!! I was NOT disappointed at all. One of the main things I look for is crispy fresh vegetables in my food. Check= perfectly done. There is nothing like a crunchy sensation when eating vegetables!! The second big thing that happens in America sometimes the food is over spiced and you can't tell different flavors or aromas from the food. Check= perfectly done! Just perfect. We decided to go out last night to Mee Thai. When we arrived at the location, we were the only ones at the restaurant. Shortly after we walked in, the whole building filled up very fast! Our waitress was very charming and attentive, and the whole place was very accommodating as a whole. Shortly after we were seated, we were served a salad, I do not eat salad but the salad dressing was absolutely fantastic. This was also my first time trying Thai Tea, and fell in love! Now on to the food. Now let me tell you, once our food arrived at the table the smells just lit up our area! Everything tasted delightful, I personally ordered the Yum crispy duck. This was my first time having crispy duck but it was phenomenal. The sauce went so good with the duck, the flavors and usage of herbs and spices were great! For dessert I tried the mango sticky rice. I had originally ordered it to go, but it was gone with in 5 minutes, before we even left the restaurant! It was also very good. Some of the best spring rolls I've ever had and I really enjoyed the spicy balance of the panang curry. I like how an ample portion of rice is given. Phad see ew - this was the closest out of all dishes to what it should be, chicken was dry Phad thai - tasted like Phad see ew but with tamarind, not right at all. Yum woon sen with seafood- just salty, not enough lime juice and or balance of flavors. At least the noodles were the right texture. Shrimp was cooked well. Why is there zucchini in everything? We go to Thai restaurants all the time. We always request gluten free for Pad Thai and Panang and they come out really good. However, at this restaurant they alter the ingredients and for us, the Pad Thai was disappointing. Had they told us this at the time of ordering, we would have possibly changed the order. It's funny how other Thai places offer GF and usually it comes out great. Theirs was also quite oily and lacking in flavor. We almost left as there seemed to be a smell in the restaurant, but it was raining and maybe the humidity changed the air inside. We stayed anyway as they were rated so highly. The service was great as was the staff, with the exception that we were not told that the flavor would be different with the requested change to GF. Unfortunately, we will not be back to try anything else as it would seem that their GF changes need additional work. The waitress did ask what we thought and after explaining our disappointment she gave us 1 discount on that dish. It was our fault for not saying something as soon as it was tasted. Then maybe we could have changed to something else. We also ordered their Papaya Salad and it was really good. By the way, we were given a wonderful complimentary small salad. That's as a really nice touch. So, be advised that if you choose GF there, know that it will not taste as good as their regular items. We tried the drunken fried rice and noodles (vegetarian), spring rolls, red curry, and a frozen mango drink. We only liked the spring rolls and mango drink. Service was good. The server took our order correctly as we had some specifications. Food came out pretty fast without any mistakes. Inside the restaurant was clean, but there was a very strong smell of meat. My husband picked this place while we were doing a wick vacation for mother's day weekend. We love Thai and have tried tons, but this was definitely one of the best! I recently had the opportunity to stop by Mee Thai for the first time for lunch, and my experience was just "alright". I've heard such great things about this place and decided to give it a try. When I first walked in I was automatically greeted by one of the servers that was taking care of the other patrons. As I sat down and looked around the restaurant... it definitely looked like this place had been around for years. The furniture looked a bit outdated but I honestly did not mind... I thought that it gave the place character. Oddly, there were still heart shaped balloons everywhere... I'm assuming that were kept up after the Valentine's Day weekend. From the menu, I ended up ordering from the lunch specials and got the Chicken Pad Thai. The dish came with a side salad... which even though it was refreshing... it looked a bit lackluster when it arrived, as it was a small plate with just lettuce and carrots. The pad Thai itself was a nice portion and had some great flavors and spices! Though, it did not come with peanuts or limes... which to me is a necessity for this dish. I also wish that the noodles had a tad bit more chew to them as well. I ended up washing everything down with some Thai Tea... which tasted pretty standard. When it comes to the service, I have to give this restaurant kudos. I was there during the lunch hour rush time and all the servers were running around back and forth attending to every table. My server was so helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and she gave spectacular service. Overall, I would probably say that my experience here wasn't bad at all! Now.... I ordered from here for lunch through Doordash. The food was packaged well, they poked holes in the Egg Roll box to keep it crispy. I strayed from my favorite Thai dish, Pad Thai, and decided to try something new. I ordered the Drunken Noodles Pad Kee Mow with Chicken. It was really good! It had rice noodles, onions, basil, bell peppers, carrots, and eggs in a savory sauce. It was a pretty big portion as well. I also ordered the Egg Rolls which came with a sweet dipping sauce. They seemed more like spring rolls to me because of the wrapper and the inside was all veggies. No complaints though it was just as flavorful and I enjoyed them. If you're looking for huge portions full of protein and flavor, attentive and kind service, and fun Thai decor, this is the place for you. We also were each given a complementary salad dressed with a sweet Thai dressing. The staff was kind and gave us fantastic recommendations. They said to try the Panang curry and the Pad Thai. We also ordered the fried rice with combination seafood and tom kha soup with chicken. Everything was bursting with flavor and extremely fragrant! Also the portions were huge which was just what I needed cause we couldn't stop eating. It was so delicious! The Pad Thai was savory and packed full of perfectly cooked seafood. Be sure to ask for a spice tray! Some extra peanuts on top elevated it to another level of delicious. The fried rice was also brimming with seafood! It is everything you could want from fried rice and even had a hint of heat when you kept eating. The Tom Kha packs a lemon grass and aromatic punch and is accompanied with a large portion of white rice to mix in. Last of all, the Panang Curry with chicken was the highlight of my meal. They perfectly balance sweet, heat and savory within this curry. The combination of the curry seasoning, coconut milk and crisp vegetables makes me hungry thinking about it. And you just might be missing out on the discovery of a new, favorite, delightful, Thai restaurant. It was a very tasty combination of stir-fried rice with shrimp, chicken, egg curry powder, carrots, onions, pineapple, cashew nuts, and raisins. If you're looking for homemade authentic Thai, then you're liking at the right spot! I've been here before, but today I needed them especially. I had wisdom tooth surgery and I've been living off of pudding . I ordered their rice soup with minced chicken and it DID NOT disappoint! I was able to eat the entire bowl! And it was delicious! The small was enough for me. I ordered a cucumber salad too, and I almost cried tears of joy to see the cucumbers cut into small little bites. A small restaurant with a interesting entrance shared with an apartment complex and a traffic light.....weird...really. Is it a five star Thai restaurant? No it's not it's your local delicious family run Thai restaurant. Is it worth five stars to be in this category? Absolutely! I'm a pad Thai kind of guy and this is my go to in the Winter Park Maitland area. The prices are outstanding I want to say pad Thai is around $12. The cheese rolls are outstanding. They're kind of like crab Rangoon, except for they don't look like crab Rangoon. They actually look like little spring rolls that are filled with delicious cream, cheese, goodness, and served with some sort of duck sauce to dip. I've honestly not tried anything else other than a couple of the appetizers and the pad Thai so I can't attest to any of the curries or other dishes. I have eaten in there one time and it was very fast, which was perfectly fine, because I was alone and wasn't looking to linger for any reason As far as pick up food goes lightning fast I highly recommend it order and leave to go pick it up. It will be ready when you get there. Don't worry if it sits there for five minutes because they use some sort of nuclear platonic super hyper heating element that makes the Food come out at 7000° so having a few extra minutes to let your food cool off is just fine trust me! Just a tip if you like pad Thai... For whatever reason they don't include crushed peanuts on the side with the pad Thai when you get it to go nor do, they include limes I find both of these items to be essential absolutely essential, so just put a note in your order or ask them to please put some on the side for you they'll do it no problem but it's the same thing with chopsticks. They're not putting them in your bag unless you ask for them so if you like chopsticks for your pad Thai like I do because pork are terrible for this kind of noodle just asked they'll put them in there no problem. I'm sure there are this restaurants in your neighborhood that are just as good so like I said, five star, white table and glove service... No, great local spot if you're 10 or 15 minutes away absolutely. read more
