This place was such a vibe and truly is a marker of how elite Orlando dining is. The interior is such a vibe, with light wood paneling everywhere, truly giving off of a almost-seaside, yet classy ambience. When we got there, there were no available tables but they were able to slot us into the schedule and we were able to wait at Noir, the attached speakeasy. The staff is friendly and attentive and Noir had Thai inspired flavored drinks which was fun. Important to note, the drinks menu at Noir is different from the drinks menu at Talay. We almost made the mistake of not ordering at Noir because we were told our table was ready before we decided on drinks. We got the Salmon Choe Nam Pla to start and that was very delicious - the salmon tasted very fresh and the flavor was great. We were very sad when we finished this dish because we wish there was more. We also had the Tod Mun Goong as a starter which is little shrimp cakes and those were fun but not as impressive as some of the other dishes. Then we got the Pla Nueng Ma Now, a Chilean seabass as well as the Goong Ma Kam which is was shrimp with tamarind sauce. Both dishes were very good and had a really nice flavor. I think out of the two, the shrimp was better as the sea bass was a little thick and the flavor didn't soak through all of it. We visited Talay on a Thursday around 7:15pm. It wasn't too busy, and they seated us quickly. The service was really good throughout our visit. To eat, we started by splitting the chor muang dumplings. These were gorgeous purple dumplings, but I found that their flavor was very delicate. The wrapper was somehow both gummy and overly delicate and broke. They were okay, but definitely more of an aesthetic dish. Next, we got one of the specials, which was a small tart shell filled with raw tuna. This was good, but I felt that the sauce overpowered the delicate fish. For mains, I ended up ordering the kor moo yang (pork jowel). This was the star of the show, it was super tender and flavorful. The relish was barely necessary to be honest. I'd definitely order this again, or get it as an appetizer to split with a few people before the main. To drink, I was really surprised that none of their cocktails were modifiable considering that they have a full bar. They didn't have any cocktails that were speaking to me, so I ended up ordering a zero proof drink, the honey's passion, with a shot of vodka on the side to spike it. This was a good solution. I came to Talay Thai for lunch with a colleague, and we had such a wonderful experience! We started with the veggie spring rolls and the roti bread, which comes with a delicious green curry dipping sauce. Both were fantastic. For my entrée, I had the beef pad kee mow--flat rice noodles with bell peppers, Thai basil, chili, and their signature spicy wok sauce. It was flavorful, spicy, and absolutely delicious! My colleague had the shrimp pad kra plow with Thai basil, chili, bell peppers, and rice, and loved it as well. Of course, we had to finish with the mango sticky rice, which was the perfect dessert. Everything was delicious, and the service was superb! The restaurant is also very nicely decorated, making it a great atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Came here with a group of 8 for my friends birthday and was delighted with a perfect experience. Booking a reservation was easy. Not only did they seamlessly handle our larger group with ease but they offered excellent service paired with amazing food and drinks all delivered in a timely fashion. I was immediately in awe of the gorgeous interior design featuring wooden accents and furniture, neutral color tones and soft lighting. I felt like I was in Thailand at a resort on the beach. For drinks every single person had something visually pleasing and equally delicious. My drink was the Gimme Guava which is Vodka, plum syrup, guava and lime. It's a bit pricier for the quantity but worth it for the quality and presentation. For food they do have a seafood forward Thai menu but I stuck to a classic and got the Keaw Wan Gai which is white meat chicken in green curry, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, Thai basil, coconut milk. It was delicious and the portion was very fair sized in my opinion. Every single dish on our table was beautiful and each person LOVED their dish. I think it's really great that my vegan friend had delicious options as well. He ordered the Por Pia Tod which was spring rolls and they were delicious. He also got some type of grilled tofu and let me just say it was tasty and cooked to perfection. Overall it was a excellent experience and I am so excited to come back and try other dishes. TALAY is okay at BEST. There are definitely other Thai cuisine-based restaurants that surpass TALAY. However, there's no need to dive into that. What is GOOD about this place is that the service is usually ALWAYS very quick. Very rarely have I waited long at this restaurant for anything, be it help from staff, food, or drinks. They should really pride themselves on that fact because sometimes it is hard to come by such efficient service - especially during busy dinner hours. The restaurant itself is so beautiful. Very IG worthy! It looks lovely in the daytime, and during the evening, the mood lighting indoors adds to the overall intimate feel of the space. There is also a good amount of seating outdoors, if you want to eat outdoors. Noir Bar is connected via a not-so-hidden corridor/passageway. Within that passageway are also the shared restrooms for both locations. As far as the food goes, it is OKAY. Again, it isn't the best, but it most certainly is not BAD. I usually order one of my usual dishes. In my last adventure to TALAY, because I have been a handful of times, I went with their vegetable Pad Thai (Price: $17.00). It was chock-full of veggies, a thin rice noodle, eggs, bean sprouts, scallions, and peanuts (which they placed off to the side). The sauce this time around was a bit sweeter than my liking, but overall, I enjoyed my plate. I didn't order any of their seasonal cocktails, but I do love that they offer various seasonal cocktails (and seasonal menus) throughout the year. It is a great way to keep you going back. Pricing can get a little high pending what you order. However, a good chunk of the menu is "reasonable." Parking in this area is always a hassle, but it exists all around, and if you are lucky, you can get FREE street parking. All in all, it is a good place to visit. Since it was my first time at this restaurant, I chose to go with the Pad Thai as I use this dish as a baseline test of Thai restaurants. We ordered the oysters, which were delicious and came with a green sauce that had just the right amount of spice. We also had the Yum Ta Krai Salmon, which tasted incredibly fresh. The Goong Prik Kluea shrimp were large, flavorful, and perfectly cooked! Our favorite dishes of the night were definitely the chicken Tom Kha soup and the Pa Nang scallops. I love a good Tom Kha soup, and this was easily the best I've ever had! It was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, served over a special dish with a flame underneath to keep it hot throughout the meal, such a nice touch! The other standout was the Pa Nang scallops. Whoever makes the sauce for this dish is a genius! I almost wanted to grab a straw and drink the sauce by itself. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were incredible. Wow! They also have a great drink menu, but we took advantage of their happy hour specials and ordered a passion fruit mimosa and a coconut mojito. I started off with a great little mocktail. It was super sweet but still delicious. Everyone else in my party seem to like their drinks.The spring rolls were fresh but beware if you don't like spice the sauce that came with it is something you may want to skip great flavor, but way too spicy. My friend got the appetizer roti and it was absolutely phenomenal. I could've eaten the sauce by the spoon full. My tofu pad Thai was really good as well. I'd have to say it was pretty comparable to other Thai restaurants but still was great and the serving was pretty large all in all. On Sunday, one of my friends had taste for Thai food so we did some research I ended up coming here for lunch. We were very impressed with the decoration and how pretty the place was. We were super excited to try something new. One of my friends came in first and order some appetizer. And the rest of us came a little bit after and the waiter took a good 20 minutes or so to come back. Even though the menu did call out some allergies it was hard for me to select and wanted someone that could explain them. My friends loved their food, which I was so happy. For me, I felt disappointed on the options for allergy sufferers. My bad on my part for not doing some research before hand but it was kind of a last-minute. Let me clarify that the restaurant does have different options and the menu itself looks great. However, for me, my only options were the curries or the creamy soups, none that I prefer. I personally do not like my food being on the sweet side. I was excited when I saw the Tom Yum soup but then this one was creamy not the clear one. Which added to my disappointment because most of the Thai restaurants have the clear one. No options were provided to me to customize some of the plates. Perhaps it was impossible, but it would had been nice to at least feel that was a possibility. Then, this narrowed it down to the only plate that I would want to eat which was the Pla Nueng Ma Now (chilean seabass). The fish itself was OK. The broth was really good and while I ordered mild it was still spicy. So it was great to see that they truly do thai hot. The plate came with rice, which I didn't want to eat, and instead I asked for veggies. The server told me they could not substitute the rice, but it would be an additional side. Honestly, adding the veggies was not a big deal, but it would had been nice to feel some type of accommodation. At the end of the day that jasmine rice went to waste. I would've had expected that they will substitute the side and just up charge me for the veggies. Overall, it was an OK experience for me. And, for the prices, you would think you could pay more and get what you want. Yes I sound like a brat, but the heart knows what it wants. Other than that, right next door is Noir the speakeasy that is connected. They will not allow the drinks from the speakeasy into the restaurant and they will not serve you in the speakeasy. Had a great time here last night! The inside looks good and there is some outdoor seating as well. Note: There is a speakeasy by the bathrooms the door looks like its apart of the wall, but you'll spot it if you look for it. I was not able to check it out, but will definitely be back to. I loved the roti starter so much that we decided to switch a previously chosen entree to the green curry with chicken (Keaw Wan Gai). The pad thai was also delicious with a great amount of peanuts to mix in... Clearly I am a big peanut fan because the star of the show for me was the dumplings!! (Chor Muang). As someone who is very picky and from LA, I have pretty high standards when it comes to food in general. Now, I love Thai food, but I wasn't sure about the food scene in Orlando. As soon as I walked in, I was met with the most gorgeous interior. I came at an awkward time so it was very empty, but I preferred it that way. It honestly felt like fine dining. I started with their roti which was absolutely divine. It was melt-in-your mouth DELICIOUS and the coconut curry sauce was out of the world. I got their fried snapper as the main. I usually don't get fish, but the server said it was good. The fish itself was fine?-- but the star of the show was the salad that came with it. It was bursting with so much flavor and added great texture to the meal. Their mocktail was no joke, either. I didn't know a cocktail could be THAT good??? Broth was flavorful and the scallops were tender and buttery. We also had shrimp rolls and dumplings for an appetizer. The attention to detail was apparent in the preparation of the appetizers which were exceptional. Pair that with accommodating service and a great experience was had by all. Decided to try Talay after browsing the resy and checking out photos of their food. We were shocked by how good this place was. We ordered all three food items from their summer menu and added a sweet corn salad with shrimp. I don't think I've ever been to a Thai restaurant without ordering one of the classics, but I have to say I didn't feel like I missed out because everything we got was so good. My husband and I agreed it was a 4/4 with the food. Our server was Joe, and he was so friendly and made the experience so much better. Highly recommend. Came here for lunch during a recent stay in Orlando. So hard to pick one thing for lunch when Thai food is one of my favs. Decided to go with the "Pad Kee Mow". I put that in quotes because this place spells it with a mow vs Mao which is technically the correct way. You know how all the asian restaurants have typos on their menus and this is no exception. It is essentially drunken noodles, a name given since this is supposed to be something great after a night of drinking. Just make sure your job isn't proofreading menus. I opted for the shrimp and it came out so quick! Portions are kinda small but I'd have to say their shrimp did not disappoint. They gave me 6 super big juicy suckers. I asked for medium but it was kinda mild but flavor was good. Also got some Thai tea and immediately called Kaiser schedule an appt to have my blood sugar checked. First things first: I love Thai food. It's in my top 3 most ordered cuisines on Uber Eats so I order it fairly often and am accustomed to eating it out of takeout containers in front of my TV lol. So to say that I was excited about an elevated dining experience with Thai food is an understatement! All were delicious and I'd recommend them all but I do have to comment on the pricing. You are definitely paying a little more money for the ambiance and presentation. Like I said previously, I order Thai takeout A LOT and the food at Talay is honestly comparable to a lot of other Thai places in town but a little more money, and in some instances, like with the starters, the food portions are smaller than other Thai spots. This shrinkflation is happening all over the country right now and you'll probably notice that Talay is not exempt from this trend. I think if you know this going in, it'll help to temper your expectations. I think the best scenarios to go to Talay are for date night or a happy hour hangout with close friends.
