Pad Thai with shrimp
Amy L.

Located on Route 7 in a shopping center with lots of parking. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The service is quick. My first time here was with a friend. We shared dumplings (more like shumai), sun-dried beef, crab meat fried rice, and chicken pad Thai. Came back myself for shrimp pad Thai. Food is solid - large portions and tasty.

We need to visit this place again! The food is just so good from the rice to the other ingredients. The place is so neat and the service was just straight forward nothing fancy. You know this is a legit place when a lot of thai people visit here. Worth the visit!

Update: new menu. The secret menu is gone but they put it all out there. Lots of choices. So far all great. Reasonable prices and staff are very helpful.

I'm sad they closed their Fairfax location and Sterling is the only one left. The food is good for a fast, casual environment. My favorite dish here is the Sukihang noodle dish. I haven't seen it offered anywhere else but here. The dishes are offered at an affordable price.

THAI / STERLING, VA / DINNER TO-GO / 07-16-20 +You can order online and their descriptions are pretty well-written. This is a major plus for the adventurous foodies who want to try new cuisines. +A lot of unique dishes and specialty offerings; e.g., Food Tour menu, Street Food menu, and Classic entrees. +The online ordering via the Toast app can be very customized, to your specifications, which is pretty cool! +Their pad thai dish is probably one of the best in the NoVA region, very similar to what I have had in Thailand. +The papaya salad was excellent. +They have a loyalty rewards program via the Fivestars app. -I was not sure what the "wet style" option was when ordering online. -Like some of the other reviews, the portions can run on the small side. Nonetheless, the food is very delicious and flavorful. -The takeout utensils were not individually wrapped, which is a concern during the COVID-19 situation. At least wrap the fork/spoon/chopstick with a napkin and sticker? Overall, we need more Thai restaurants like Thai by Thai. They are a well-planned and thought out establishment. Please continue to expand your brand and market footprint! What we ordered: '1 Northeast Trio 13.55 Sundried Beef Not spicy '1 Pad Thai with 8 Shrimp $13.55 Medium Crushed peanuts on the side. '1 Kau Gling with Chicken $9.95 Chili powder on the side.

And let's say we were not disappointed, tucked away in a shopping is a gem of place, walking into this place was presently surprised with the clean and modern vibe which is awesome So good job ! Now food ... Oh damn all of it was fresh ingredients and packed full of flavor. Homemade Nem Noung Coung was delicious and the dipping sauce for it was onpoint ... it had a nice peppery flavor to it which was a pleasant surprise and did well . The coriander chicken salad was fresh and on point .. fresh herbs makes the dish. Bo ne was full of tender cubes of steak and fresh pate so good .. Scallion noodles and lobster delicious ! Service was on point and very attentive aswell.. Definitely would recommend this place and come back when I'm in town!

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

Upgrading from my review 10 years ago! Wow, a decade I've been periodically coming to this place…read more Hard to believe that One Loudoun is that old already. I would say that Sense of Thai St. has become a neighborhood staple and stands strong among the other great Thai places in the area. Definitely has improved and remained steady over the years. The service is always top-notch, and the bar with limited kitchen options stays open late as one of the only late-night options in that immediate area, which is nice after a big gym session in the evenings. I still think the prices are a little hard to swallow for the portion sizes in terms of how much actual protein you get with any one dish. But it's undeniable how perfectly balanced the flavors and spices are, and the menu is always evolving with a very wide range of Asian fusion and traditional Thai dishes. I have a TOUGH time figuring out what to order because every creation sounds so amazing! I recently got the beef noodle Thai ramen with the five-spice egg added (see photo), and it was really good. The five-spice egg is a must try, bursting with a rainbow of flavors and accenting any dish.

Liked most of the appetizer except for the wings. They are a bit too sweet for me. For entrees, we got a whole fried fish. The branzino was a good size and perfectly fried. We were trying to find pictures of Siam chicken and unable to find any. It is more like orange chicken to be honest. It was decent. Final dish was chicken pad Thai and that was good. Their pad Thai is always delicious. Overall the food was good but the service was spotty. Had to ask for water refill even though the waiter walked by and can see the almost empty glasses. We were there later in the evening so it was not really busy.

My mom and I were seated right next to the front door by the manager. Since it was freezing outside and the door kept opening, we politely asked if we could move to a table away from the draft. He told us no because a large group was expected to arrive soon. We then asked another employee, who said it wouldn't be a problem and moved us to a different table. A few moments later, the manager noticed we had been reseated. He came over, abruptly took the menus from our table, and angrily told us to leave the restaurant. The way he spoke to us was aggressive and totally uncalled for, especially considering his own staff had seated us. We decided to leave at that point. As we were heading out, he raised his voice again and told us to "go home," which was embarrassing and uncomfortable with other diners around. There was no confrontation on our end -- we didn't argue, complain, or cause a scene. We simply asked not to sit in the cold draft by the door. The entire situation escalated solely because of how the manager handled it. It's disappointing because the restaurant advertises friendly, welcoming service, which was the complete opposite of what we experienced. After reading other reviews, it also seems this isn't an isolated issue. If the owners see this, I'd strongly suggest addressing how customers are spoken to. No one should be yelled at or treated aggressively for making a simple, reasonable request.
