I am very picky in my thai food after going to Thailand. This place served fast thai food. I thought it tasted a little better than the average thai place but nothing special. My husband ordered a spring roll. I grabbed a bite and I really enjoyed the freshness of the veggies. The chicken was slightly dry but tasty. My curry seafood was tasty with some spicy. We ordered from this place because of the good reviews, but our experience was not positive. Maybe we just ordered on an off night. I got the chicken panang and it was honestly the worst I've ever had. The chicken was really tough and dry, like shoe leather, and gamey tasting. The sauce was so watery and flavorless as well. We order from here almost once a week. Love the pad Thai, of course, but the massaman curry is probably my most ordered item. I love it with chicken or pork. The fried rice is also amazing here, especially with shrimp. And sticky rice with custard for dessert is fantastic! The shrimp dumpling app is also a must-try. I have tried many Thai restaurants within a 50 mile radius, and this restaurant is in my top three places to eat. The owners are very friendly. They grow their own spices and herbs. they have never failed me and I know they won't. I enjoy eating there with my family and or friends. This is probably our third time eating here. Food was pretty decent the first few times. My vegetarian Ka-prow fried rice was a bit lacking flavor and a bit too salty. I love basil fried rice. The shrimp pad thai was good. It's a bit of a strange restaurant in that it seems like it used to be a fast food restaurant with the booths and the walk up ordering. The Thai iced teas were great but a bit small. I rated them a bit lower for value and something that's always bothered us. The tables are always dirty and we never use the restroom after the first time. For the price of want a better ambience for a date etc. We probably won't be back. Placed an order on Doordash on my way home from a stressful day at work minutes before they stopped taking them. They accepted the order, calling me a couple minutes later to inform me they were out of an item and asked me what I would like to substitute it with. After telling them, they thank me and we hang up. 30 minutes later, I get a new text message from Doordash saying the restaurant canceled my order because they closed. Friday 6/21 @ 11 am -The service was excellent-- ordered papaya salad - good, spring rolls - ok, Tom Ka soup w/ shrimp - not heated enough- Panang Curry w/ shrimp - ok but the sauce not as rich as I remember- the shrimp in both dishes were not as good as I've had in two other of my favorite Thai restaurants- they were tasteless with a gelatinous texture. The star was the Crab Fried rice -very tasty, fresh and hot! Ordered the Crispy Duck to go for lunch next day --it tasted old / rank/ foul --It was swimming in oil because duckfat would have solidified when refrigerated--we had to throw it away plus it was skimpy on the amount ( 6 ) tiny thin pieces of duck for $17. Also had dumplings which were good reheated the next day. The decor is awesome but floor looked as it had not been swept as there was debris underneath tables and well as a few tidbits on tops. Not the stellar food experience like l remember -- maybe under new management. I'll stick with my local favorites - not going back-- dropped $100 clams on that splurge! Hubby loves this place and I like it, too. Restaurant is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. My only notation is that there are a LOT of onions in their dishes. Now, I don't mind cooked onions and actually enjoy them most of the time, but these dishes do come with a lot, and I mean a LOT of onions. So, if you're not a fan of onions, simply ask for 'no onions' and you'll do fine. Their fried bananas and their spring rolls are simply divine. Love, loved both of those. Their menu is pretty simple and filled with more popular dishes. They have a pretty wide variety of things to choose from, appetizers, soups, salads, classic dishes and curries. We ordered the spring rolls to start off, which were filled with veggies, mushrooms and clear noodles. A little flavorless, but that's why they give you super sweet sauce to drown them in. As entrees we got the beef drunken noodles and panang curry. The drunken noodles were tossed with onions, an array of peppers, some greens, and beef. I did like the consistency of the noodles and the combination of everything together, but it was a bit on the saltier side. The Panang curry was also a little sweeter than a typical Panang curry. This is quick Thai that is done right. I first stumbled upon this shop at a yelp event and fell in love with the food. Typically I love a good drunken noodle, or a pad Thai but here my recommendation has to be the Kai Rabert It was absolutely phenomenal, though there's definitely fish sauce in there, so be warned if you're not a fan. The fried eggs were good, but I personally think that it could be gooeyer, though it still works. Overall it was a hair salty but the cucumbers helped balance that out. The mango sticky rice was awesome. Warm gooeyness is contrasted cool ripe mango. Definitely amazing, and I have to say that it was one of the best mangos that I've had in a while. DELIVERY ORDERS BEWARE: I called the restaurant's listed number for delivery and they instructed me to use their online website to place an order so I did. I ordered two Pad Thai entrees for delivery and I guess they use a third party called Sauce. It's truly the worst customer service ever. After 36 minutes of waiting for my food and watching the screen, I saw they switched drivers on me and quoted me another 35 minutes for delivery. I was frustrated with the delayed response and lack of communication so I requested a cancellation. It took them another 21 minutes just to cancel my order and after an hour of waiting, hungry and no food...they still charged me full price including the delivery fee! Now I'm attempting to dispute the charge through my bank. What a nightmare, I should have just picked up the order myself considering the the restaurant is less than 3 miles from my home! Been here 3 times now, and their Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles are both fantastic. We did have one time I came with my mom and brother when the restaurant itself was nearly dead, but the manager (seemed maybe an owner) was super busy with the phone. I've worked in restaurants for 25 years, the last 12 as a manager or director. A common rule of thumb is to take the "in person" guest before people on the phone (you place callers on hold). We, instead, were left to wait a good 5-7 minutes before our order was taken at a counter-service reataurant, after this manager told us repeatedly to wait. He wasn't mean or anything, it just seemed pretty obvious we weren't a priority at the moment. That particular visit, our food then took about 20mins. It was good as usual though. read more

You are provided with a number and are free to sit at any available table. After a quick 10-15 minutes your order is brought out to you. Very simple! Menu choices include appetizers, soups, salads, curries, noodles, noodle soups, and stir fried dishes. They also have their own secret street menu! Prices are reasonable and range from $8-$13, depending on your choice of protein (or veggies). Portions are decent, but may appear smaller compared to other Thai restaurants. Thai by Thai also provides you with the option of 3 spice levels: Medium Hot, Bangkok Hot, and Crazy. Medium Hot can get VERY spicy, and although it is not on the menu you may also request for Mild. Beef Pad See Ew ($9.45) - So if you know me, you would know that I am a HUGE fan of pad see ew. I have tried many variations of this dish at a number of Thai restaurants, and Thai by Thai has always remained one of my top favorites. The broad rice noodles are absolute perfection - soft, delicate, and a tiny bit charred. The beef and American broccoli are well portioned, and you will find small bits of egg tossed in. The overall dish is coated in a delicious soy sauce that is incredibly flavorful and perfectly well-balanced. I have also tried their Pork Pad Thai ($8.95) and Vegetable Tom Yum Soup ($3.95), both of which were delicious. Each dish had a great kick of flavor, and I find this to be very consistent at Thai by Thai. This place is by far one of my favorite thai places in the area. The crispy veggie spring rolls and the Pad See Ew with chicken are my regular dishes. The springs rolls are really thin but filling and I love the sear they put on the chicken. The size of the portions aren't bad. The first time I came, there was a lot of food packed in my to-go container. Definitely enough to save for lunch the next day. *3.5 stars* This is the first Thai place that I've been to in Sterling, and even with the "fast food" atmosphere, the meal was enjoyable. You walk in and order at a counter, they give you a number (see pictures) and you wait for your food. By the time we had served ourselves our drinks and sat down we were served (points for being super fast!). We had spring rolls (which are skinny and extra long- see pictures...), pad se ew with beef, and drunken noodles. The spring rolls were good- light, crunchy, with a sweet and tangy sauce. The pad se ew was good, but I'm going to have to agree with Tee C. and say they were a bit salty and wasn't the usual smoky and sweet flavors I've come to love. I tried a bit of the drunken noodles, that dish was good. Spicy with a good amount of onion, pepper, and chili thrown into the mix. When we were done we left our plates (this isn't a place to linger for some after lunch/dinner conversation) and the staff was quick to clear and clean the table. You have to give credit to a Thai place that takes the "fast food" approach and produces decent food- Hence the .5 added to the score. I'd probably go here for take out if I was in the area, the seating is comfortable enough, but like I mentioned, you aren't extremely tempted to hang around or have a leisurely lunch/dinner here (not that it's a bad atmosphere, I just enjoy taking my time). I'd definitely try it again to experience more of the menu, and maybe raise or lower my rating. You order your food at the counter, take a number, and they bring the food out to your table.The food is delicious and comes out relatively quick. However, it does tend to get very busy during lunch hour. I came in on a weekday and the only table open was a 2 top. The thai tea was also enjoyable and not overly sweet. I had ordered the seafood drunken noodles, and it was delicious, yet greasier than what I was used to. The portion was also a bit smaller than other thai restaurants as well, but I did enjoy my experience here nonetheless. It really is a great place for lunch. read more

My first impression of this place started out in the parking lot of this little gem. The garlic aroma was noticeable well before stepping inside. When it comes to Thai food, it is a good sign. My parents and I tried the Kang Pa with fish balls, Ka Na Moo Krob (Chinese Broccoli with Bacon?), and Ta Lay Pad Pong Karee (Seafood curry stirfry?) Instead of going on and on about the food. Our fitness group went to Thai By Thai for our monthly lunch. There's a long set of tables that's perfect for group seating. Some of us ordered through their app (it is efficient and very descriptive), others ordered at the counter and the staff brought the orders to our table. Everything was delicious and pretty!
