Pad See Ew with Beef
Aaron N.

I really want to love this place. The inside of the restaurant is such an aesthetic vibe. Whether with family or friends, this place would especially be a place to bring a date to. However, and a BIG however, is that the food is hit or miss here. Usually pad thai is a good standard test to tell how good a thai restaurant is. When I ordered pad thai during my first visit, I was sorely disappointed. It looked amazing, but tasted meh. I also ordered an order of their chicken satay and the chicken was very dry. And when you throw in that my waitress stared at me oddly whenever she came by to check on me, you can definitely say that my first impression was not a positive one. However, really wanting to like this place, I went back to give it another try. The aesthetic vibe was too good to dismiss this place so quickly. Long story short, the second try redeemed this review quite a bit. I ordered a Pad See Ew with beef and it was SO delicious! Even the fresh rolls were tasty and presented beautifully. Their thai tea is also good and the different waitress was also a lot friendlier. So, I'm not sure about this place. It's by no means amazing, especially when you're used to really good thai food in other big cities, but it's not horrible either. And this seems to be my experience with other thai restaurants I've had in Spokane. As a Thai restaurant, how can you get pad thai wrong? Maybe it's tailored to the local taste? Regardless, the food here is a hit or miss depending on what you order.

My brother took us here for dinner the other night. Place is huge, the decorations were neat, ambiance was warm and inviting. We got seated fast. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We had the lettuce wraps for an app - not bad, very flavorful, veggies were fresh Entree - green curry, papaya salad, pad see ew, and drunken noodles. The green curry was great!! It was Rick and cream with a ton of chicken. Papaya salad was fresh and had a slight kick. The drunken noods were pretty good. I wasn't too fond of the pad see ew. It was very saucy and had cabbage it. I've had this dish in many Thai restaurants. This is the 1st I saw had cabbage and be this saucy. Overall experience was good. Definitely would recommend to 1st timers

No more updates after this! Had lunch recently and I have to give kudos to the cook for the best Pad Thai I've had in Spokane. Perfect!

I got their chicken pad thai to go and it was very good! I have been on a search for the best Thai food in Spokane and I think this spot is definitely better than most. I got a 3 for spice level and it felt more like a 2, so next time I will jump to 4 on the spice level. I got my meal without peanuts just fyi!

The best Thai food! We don't have a lot of Thai options at home so we were excited to get some delicious, authentic Thai food while in town! Our bartender was very friendly. The ceiling in the restaurant is really unique, definitely check it out! Look up! We tried the chicken satay, Two Friends and Chicken Phad Thai. Everything was delicious!

I give this N Division location 3.5 stars. It's just not a 4, based on the food. I'll say this...it's a 5 for ambiance and service. The staff were attentive and friendly. My server checked back often. I love how fun the vibes are here. Almost like a tiki bar. It's such a fun spot and can accommodate a large group or party. Sometimes, that's what you are looking for, and this place would get 5 stars for sure. Now, let's talk about the food. It's just not that special. The appetizer was supposed to be a garlic sauce with green beans and snow peas. I expected to have garlic breath, but I didn't. I'm thinking of a rich and decadent garlic sauce, but instead, it was a little overcooked and not enough garlic flavor. My Panang Curry was boring because it didn't have a vegetable besides red bell peppers. Most Panang comes with green beans and your choice of protein. I chose tofu, and it was a soft tofu, not a fried tofu. I prefer my tofu to have a solid texture. This just wasn't that style. The curry itself with the coconut milk was delicious. It was a perfect level 4 of spice and so creamy and delicious. I added my appetizer of green beans and snow peas to my curry to help bring it up a notch. That helped, but it's expensive to have to do that. It was expensive for the portion size. I only tried those two dishes, so my rating is based on these. I'll come back if I'm with a group and try a fried rice dish. The intention here is awesome. I just didn't fall in love with my dish in comparison to other Thai in town.

Their ceiling matched my sweater

After visiting many Thai restaurants, Thai Bamboo is unquestionably the best. The food is incredibly authentic and delicious. The Pad Thai and the grilled salmon are must-tries--bursting with fresh flavors and perfect spices.

I wish the food tasted as good as this place looked. I heard the one in the valley is better but I am not really interested in giving that location a try after this. The outside of the building looks interesting and the starry sky ceiling inside is beautiful. That's all for the good. The food was a bit expensive and didn't taste good. First-time customer here so I played safe and got Pad Thai. I am not a Thai food expert but their Pad Thai confused me. It didn't look like a Pad Thai to me nor did it taste like one. Everything we ordered was Americanized and greasy. A Thai restaurant can't make Pad Thai right is like the big M can't make their burgers right. There are better options in Spokane for Thai food.

Wow! This is going to be a fun review…read more.. Stay tuned. You want good food. Do you want food that is authentic to its culture. Do you want a Thai dish cooked by a Thai chef. You found the place. Not just that, the help is wonderful. The Thai woman that served me was precious. And the Caucasian gentleman was very nice. Beautiful ambience. See my pictures. And did you see the picture of the food? Totally delicious. I visited Thailand one month ago. I have a Thai fiancé that took me to all the good restaurants. She lives there, she's a chef herself, she knows the good food, and she took me there. So, what I'm saying, I know good Thai food first hand. What I must say about the food I had here today, is it was delicious, it was spicy, and it was authentic. I ate it like a champ. With a spoon and fork, the Thai way. I made it a spicy as I wanted with the included Thai spicy sauce. I practically poured it on my food. I drank a lot of water ... I can say with almost 100% certainty that the rest of the food is good. I say this because, the restaurant opens at 11AM. There were people waiting at the door to get in before 11AM and by the time I sat down, the restaurant was filling up with people. There were orders being taken out by customers calling on the phone. It was busy. That should give you an indication of the quality of the food. I am so happy at the fact that I am able to bring my Thai fiancé to this restaurant once she becomes a citizen. The legal way, lol ...

While in Spokane, I wanted to try something different. So my friends and I found this great looking…read moreramen spot called Nudo. I thought it funny that the name of the shop sounded like it was either calling attention to or poking fun at the southeast Asian pronunciation of the word noodle, but the pictures were undeniable! So in just minutes from the Davenport Hotel, we walk thru the doors. I was very impressed with the modern art aesthetic that adorn the surrounding walls of the dining area. Pop art is a very common look at more modern ramen places so I was feeling very comfortable and confident that we'd come to the right place. The staff was friendly and amazing from the get go and all throughout! Starving, we sat down and our eyes tore through the menu with excitement. Most satisfyingly was the fact that we'd come at happy hour and ramen bowls were $10 each! Now as a ramen goer, I will always go to TanTan if it's on the menu and it was! My mind was made. My other two friends ordered the Spicy beef in a shoyu broth and a spicy Tonkotsu (both looked amazing)! We also ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu: Salt and Pepper Tofu and the Spicy Pork Wontons! Both of those were HIGHLY RECOMMENDs, but if you're sharing the Tofu goes much farther with the wontons only having 3 pieces but AMAZING flavor (PRO TIP: you can also use the left over sauce to experiment with other tastes later in your meal). Once the appetizers hit the table it was gone! Hence the no pictures, for which I greatly apologize. I've failed you again, my Yelp family. But please know it was because I'm a fat ass and couldn't hold back my hunger. But finally, the main courses came out. My mind clear from the nourishments of the appetizers, I was able to snap a picture of. Maybe not as much of a, "my mind was clear" as it was a, "Carrots and corn in my ramen? YUCK!" Now I get the corn. In Hokkaido style they like to put sweet corn on the surface and slap some butter on it, and THAT I always have time for. But corn?? In my opinion, there's no place for carrots in ramen because the sweetness will always off balance the taste. Especially in a pork bone broth, but definitely not invited to my TanTan party, but I digress. Being the huge lover that I am of food and adventure, I thought I'd give it a try. But from the first bite, I realized that I was right about the flavor, forgot about the texture and was surprised to find Chicken in my ramen. No ohana... ramen is one of my favorite things EVER! Growing up in my life we'd eat dry bags of Maruchan/Top Ramen with the seasoning in it for fun, as kids. You know which one flavor I NEVER ate? CHICKEN! It just never hit to me. And here, betraying me in my coveted TanTan was chicken! Besides all of these things, my ramen was slightly hotter than warm. I grew up eating traditional style ramen, where you had to want it! Meaning the broth would undoubtedly burn your lips but you HAD TO WANT IT fresh or you'd miss out on what good ramen was. So disappointedly, I rested my chopsticks across the brim of the bowl in defeat and pulled the menu back. Meanwhile, from across the table I hear the satisfying sounds of slurps and bowls being picked up and set down on the table. So I ask how their food was. Both were very happy and both did look good, but I needed something that wouldn't miss this time. So with that in mind, I asked for the Spicy ramen! But this time I made a few adjustments. Audibles if you will (heck, it's football season). I asked for no carrots and no corn (of which she whiffed on the no corn, but thankfully there were no carrots) and almost MOST importantly: I asked for the noodles to be half cooked! My waitress, who: LET ME JUST STOP HERE AND GIVE HER THE FLOWERS SHE DESERVES! I feel bad that I don't remember her name or who don't have a picture with her but I was there during happy hour on the 7th of September (Monday) and she looked like she could have been the daughter part of a mother/daughter duo that was working the dining area! I appreciate you! NOW BACK TO THE FOOD! So my order again: Spicy Beef Ramen, no corn or carrots with the noodles half cooked! And the next bowl that was set in front of me redeemed the entire food experience. My ramen was piping hot and perfect. Sizable chunks of well cooked beef, dressing the landscape of my bowl like mountains on a map. Just beautiful. I couldn't wait to dive in. And from the first bite, it was redemption! The beef was so soft! It had a rich flavor that made me check it to see if they maybe upgraded me to ox tail. They hadn't, but it was definitely an upgrade from that shredded chicken fiasco I'd just come away from. The spice level was perfect. And the temperature of the soup melted all of the natural juices and oils of all the ingredients into the broth. Exactly like it's supposed to do!

I ordered the hanging tenderloin medium rare based on her recommendation, and she was also more than happy to add some greens on the side when I asked. I really appreciate that Mizuna makes a point of using vegetables from local farms. The dish almost reminded me of something you might get at a traditional Lyonnaise restaurant, but with a more modern and refined touch. The beet salad, though, was a piece of art. I would honestly come back just for this dish. The beets had an almost candied quality without being overly sweet, and they worked beautifully with the freshness of the mint and the creamy chèvre mousse. Fantastic balance of flavors and textures. Great atmosphere, genuinely warm hospitality, and food that feels thoughtful without being overly complicated. Mizuna was a really enjoyable surprise.
