Oh the food here was amazing. If you haven't found this place yet and you're from the Spokane area you are missing out. The service was very fast even though there was only one person working the night I was there. The inside has a Hawaiian theme which you'd expect, but it was nice inside and very clean. read more

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience overall. The teriyaki chicken was very salty, and the mac salad had a strange sour taste that was hard to get past. The one bright spot was the kalua pulled pork, which was actually really good and tender. Sadly, it wasn't enough to save the meal. Probably wouldn't return, aside from the pulled pork. read more

We stopped here to pick up food to take for a group of 8 to the hospital. I let them know the situation and he took care of us. Arranged a special order that was easy to grab in a hospital setting and he even added an extra spam musubi, mac salad, and large portions for the group. Asked for 3 pc masubi the guy said we only have two right now is that okay? I said yes but I'm pretty sure he still charged me for the 3pc and I got a scoop of Mac salad. My Masubi tasted horrible was hard premade what seemed like days ago and tasted like the sea. my Mac salad was sour and not like a normal Hawaiian Mac salad and I got a canned drink. The best thing I got was the canned drink. Also the teriyaki tasted like it had soap in it. Two spam masubis one scoop of mac and a canned drink $20. I will not be returning. read more

First I will start with I am from Hawai'i and love to eat lol I'm going to be brutally honest. I did see a review that said "and there was a lot of rice" hahahahhaa that's the norm for a proper plate lunch. Anyhoo. I had the Loco Moco. It was great. Pretty much what I would find back home at L&L or something. I'm not a fan of onions and celery in Mac salad usually but this one was pretty good. Mac salad is a tough one to nail, I've tried, but they succeeded. Hubby had the Katsu/Kalua pork plate sub yakisoba instead of rice. Katsu was really good, but didn't need the second sauce drizzled on top, maybe put sauces on the side like back home? Kalua pork was good, but had maybe a touch too much liquid smoke. Cabbage would go great in it. The yakisoba was to be desired. Though husband and I probably compare it to fried noodles back home and it's not the same, kind of mushy. However overall it was great. Pricey.... But it's a lot of food lol. We'll definitely go back. read more

If you like Hawaiian teriyaki this might be the place for you! Portions are huge! I had the combo of teriyaki chicken and katsu chicken and literally could only eat about half. I had 3 others with me who were all in their 20's and can pack the food away, but they all needed to go boxes as well. Located off of Grand Ave just behind Sacred Heart Hospital, so easy to get to. The first night we came here, we about an hour prior to closing. My SO wanted katsu chicken but they were out and that's all he wanted so we ended up leaving next-door to get poke. We went back a few days later and he got the plate with katsu chicken with the side of the vegetables for me. Five stars for katsu chicken because he absolutely loved it. Two words: Mochiko Chicken! Get it!!! It's as close to the islands that I have found in the Spokane area. I recommend topping with the Pele Aioli, soooo good! Also worth trying is the Spam and cheese sliders, my heart doesn't want to like them but my mouth says, "Shut up and enjoy!". The only reason this place isn't 5 stars is in my mind is they are slow with the service, but if you order ahead of time and pick it up they will text when it's ready. They truly are living on "Island Time" in this place which, outside of Hawaii just means slow and steady. read more

All the other places we wanted to go had a long wait so we ended up here and all ordered plate lunches, the building is a sister company to a brewery so we were told we could go sit over there and they would bring the food to us which was great! The cashier was very friendly and nice. I got the Machiko chicken with the garlic soba noodles and Huli Huli sauce. It was a gigantic serving!! I thought it funny that the name of the shop sounded like it was either calling attention to or poking fun at the southeast Asian pronunciation of the word noodle, but the pictures were undeniable! So in just minutes from the Davenport Hotel, we walk thru the doors. I was very impressed with the modern art aesthetic that adorn the surrounding walls of the dining area. Pop art is a very common look at more modern ramen places so I was feeling very comfortable and confident that we'd come to the right place. The staff was friendly and amazing from the get go and all throughout! Starving, we sat down and our eyes tore through the menu with excitement. Most satisfyingly was the fact that we'd come at happy hour and ramen bowls were $10 each! Now as a ramen goer, I will always go to TanTan if it's on the menu and it was! My mind was made. My other two friends ordered the Spicy beef in a shoyu broth and a spicy Tonkotsu (both looked amazing)! We also ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu: Salt and Pepper Tofu and the Spicy Pork Wontons! Both of those were HIGHLY RECOMMENDs, but if you're sharing the Tofu goes much farther with the wontons only having 3 pieces but AMAZING flavor (PRO TIP: you can also use the left over sauce to experiment with other tastes later in your meal). Once the appetizers hit the table it was gone! Hence the no pictures, for which I greatly apologize. I've failed you again, my Yelp family. But please know it was because I'm a fat ass and couldn't hold back my hunger. But finally, the main courses came out. My mind clear from the nourishments of the appetizers, I was able to snap a picture of. Maybe not as much of a, "my mind was clear" as it was a, "Carrots and corn in my ramen? YUCK!" In my opinion, there's no place for carrots in ramen because the sweetness will always off balance the taste. But from the first bite, I realized that I was right about the flavor, forgot about the texture and was surprised to find Chicken in my ramen. No ohana... ramen is one of my favorite things EVER! Growing up in my life we'd eat dry bags of Maruchan/Top Ramen with the seasoning in it for fun, as kids. You know which one flavor I NEVER ate? CHICKEN! It just never hit to me. And here, betraying me in my coveted TanTan was chicken! Besides all of these things, my ramen was slightly hotter than warm. I grew up eating traditional style ramen, where you had to want it! Meaning the broth would undoubtedly burn your lips but you HAD TO WANT IT fresh or you'd miss out on what good ramen was. So disappointedly, I rested my chopsticks across the brim of the bowl in defeat and pulled the menu back. Meanwhile, from across the table I hear the satisfying sounds of slurps and bowls being picked up and set down on the table. So I ask how their food was. Both were very happy and both did look good, but I needed something that wouldn't miss this time. So with that in mind, I asked for the Spicy ramen! But this time I made a few adjustments. Audibles if you will (heck, it's football season). I asked for no carrots and no corn (of which she whiffed on the no corn, but thankfully there were no carrots) and almost MOST importantly: I asked for the noodles to be half cooked! My waitress, who: LET ME JUST STOP HERE AND GIVE HER THE FLOWERS SHE DESERVES! I feel bad that I don't remember her name or who don't have a picture with her but I was there during happy hour on the 7th of September (Monday) and she looked like she could have been the daughter part of a mother/daughter duo that was working the dining area! I appreciate you! NOW BACK TO THE FOOD! So my order again: Spicy Beef Ramen, no corn or carrots with the noodles half cooked! And the next bowl that was set in front of me redeemed the entire food experience. My ramen was piping hot and perfect. Sizable chunks of well cooked beef, dressing the landscape of my bowl like mountains on a map. Just beautiful. I couldn't wait to dive in. And from the first bite, it was redemption! The kids working appear to know more cuss words than useful ones which leads me to doubt their adherence to health and sanitary codes. I would reconsider the level of employees you are hiring.
