I am old enough to have experienced some terrible stylist and some great ones also, and Michelle, owner of Texturz, is a great one! She is patient, thorough and most crucial of all, she listens to me in regards to my hair concerns. Wow I spent no longer than 30 minutes getting my hair washed and cut. I loved the experience of making an appointment and being seen at my appointment time because I hate to spend all day in the salon. I just recently got my thick natural hair colored at the salon. My complaint and why I'm writing the review is to give feed back. I was pleased with the outcome of my color and trim, however I was charged $100 over the quoted price. Now note this is without having a style done to my hair which would have been an additional charge? I left with my hair in large two strain twist. This was my second visit and because of this I won't return. I asked for the cost prior yet still got an $100 surprise at check out. And didn't ask for anything additional outside of what I made my appointment for. I just feel that the stylist should have told me of any additional charges, which one was for product used? read more

I should have read the reviews before booking my appointment. The main problem for me is the lack of customer service. If the client is not happy a business owner in the service industry should stop and try to identify why. Instead the owner just wanted to add an additional cost to fix my dissatisfaction. I went to Michelle to get my hair cut because I was so frustrated with my two previous salons not cutting my hair the right way. I made an appointment with Michelle over the phone and when I went into her shop, I was very impressed that she did not have other customers waiting for her, as well. She was just finishing up on a customer and I did not have to wait. The salon is very clean, modern and relaxing. Michelle put me at ease right away and did an excellent job in cutting my hair. I highly recommend her and I look forward to my next visit. I actually went to this salon, (a while ago), based on kudzu reviews. I initially went to get a special conditioning treatment and followed up a couple of weeks later with a relaxer. On the day that I had my relaxer, the owner (who was doing my hair), was having a special event, (open house), in the salon. Bad idea because she was rushing and really did not do a good job. Also, I believe that if someone walks in with a particular hairstyle, you should either replicate that style or ask the patron what they want. The style she gave me was hideous and not age appropriate. I had to totally restyle it as soon as I got in my car although I was going straight home. I just couldn't stand it. If you are going to have a special event in your salon, you should not do hair on that day unless you quit hours before the event is to start. Pricey for the quality of the work. Thankfully I was able to find a master stylist, (skills unmatched) who just put this salon to shame. If you are going to pay more, you should expect more and never feel rushed through the process. read more

Found this place last minute since it was open on Sundays and it was near my home. The website says walk-ins welcome so I here go to take my daughter to get her her done. We get there and the sign on the door says Tuesdays and Sundays mainly by appointment??? We go inside and I ask the stylist can she take my daughter as a walk in. They open at 11 and it was noon when we arrived, there were two people getting serviced. She immediately tells me No that she was the only one there. Not happy I immediately turned on my heels and walked out. Because I was angry I was in my vehicle pulling up Yelp to write my review. The stylist comes out to my car apologizing explaining that the phone was ringing non stop and she was the only one there. She said I could come back later if I wanted to. I thanked her and did not take her up in the offer. They could have had two new clients if they did a good job on my daughter as she is 13 with long hair and I always take her to get it done on a consistent basis. Not here telling anyone how to run their business just not happy my first visit became my last. read more

Michelle is an excellent stylist and business owner. She is friendly and attentive to her client's needs. She has a knack for listening and providing great ideas for what will make her clients look their best. Her specialty is color. The salon is beautiful. Making an appointment is easy and there isn't super long wait for service as with some hair salons. One time, I had an unsatisfactory experience with a separate service from a different stylist but felt Michelle handled the situation with the upmost professionalism. She clearly values her customers. She goes above and beyond to insure you are pleased not only with her work but any service provided at her salon. read more

If you care about your hair I encourage everyone to read this and NEVER go to this salon. I have never done a review on a salon before. I went to the owner, Michelle for a consultation and really wanted to love her and my experience but I am doing a big chop this month because of my experience about 4 months ago. I had about 8 months of new growth and was doing great on my hair journey. I discovered that Michelle "specialized" in PhytoSpecific relaxers and did ALL my due diligence that I could before making my decision to use her. I stated in my consult that I did NOT want bone straight hair and that I really just wanted to loosen the curl to manage my hair. She assured me she does not relax straight, its not healthy, bla, bla, bla. She went to the back, pulled the box kit that I usually buy myself at Sephora and proceeded to prepare the relaxer. I noticed that she had an Index 2 strength. I usually use Index 1 because it's not as strong but being that I thought she understood what I wanted I didn't question it. I figured she would be washing it out quicker. While applying the relaxer she told me my hair was unevenly relaxed and she needed to pull it through my WHOLE HEAD. I've heard of stylists doing "corrective relaxing" before so I thought....she is a professional...she knows best. Mind you she never communicated that this would cost more and I didn't find that out until it was time to pay making my already expensive $120.00 service turn into almost $200.00. The worst and most disappointing part is that not only did I have to force her to wash the relaxer out after telling me I still had 7 minutes to sit, she had a young, all natural, obviously inexperienced shampoo girl wash me out. Drumroll....she only washed me 3 times!!!! By the time I was under the dryer I felt my scalp getting numb so I got concerned and told her I didn't have time to completely dry, paid the sticker shock and left. My gut told me to go home and wash my hair immediately with neutralizing shampoo. Not only did I still see pink suds on the first wash but 3 MORE washes in addition to what they did in the salon!!! I've tried to repair and baby my damaged, dry, shedding hair for months taking vitamins and everything I've researched online to no avail. I have come to the end of my road and now need to start over. I contemplated the whole time if I should go back up there and speak to her or just write this review. I decided to do this review because I don't want anyone to work so hard for healthy hair and have it destroyed in 2 hours. This was the most heartbreaking hair experience for me so most importantly I hope Michelle sees this as well. I sincerely hope you get this in time. read more

I had a terrible experience at Texturz. This salon claims that it is multicultural, but indeed, it is not. I am a Caucasian female, and I had my hair colored blond. The next morning, when I went to brush my hair, my hair started breaking off at the roots. Michelle, the owner, was the one who colored my hair. I called her in a panic, and Michelle told me that the breakage was not due to her coloring job, but because my hair type was so fine. I have had my hair colored for over 20 years, and this has never happened before. After much conversation, Michelle agreed to fix my hair, but I declined. I got my hair done here last Thursday before hanging out with some friends. I got a $65 silk press. This was my first time ever getting a silk press, I normally get my hair blown out at a Dominican salon. I was pretty open minded. I had an appointment with Michelle. I walk in and she was really sweet and seemed to be a pretty nice lady. The salon was super clean and I was excited to get my first silk press. After she was done with my hair I was happy and thought it looked good so i tipped $10. I got in the car and was playing with it in the mirror and noticed that my hair was a little puffy at the roots but I was like whatever. It was really close to closing time there so I was just gonna fix it later. I have natural 3c/4a hair so i know its hard to deal with sometimes. So I go have dinner with my friends then go home. I wrapped my hair and went to bed. The next morning I woke up and i looked like a dandelion. Literally I was freaking out because I did not know what to do. Michelle told me my hair would last a week. I woke up at 5am when I saw my hair. That was less than 24 hours! Barely over 10 hrs. I couldnt even wear it down so I pulled it in a ponytail then waited for them to open to call. I called and one of the girls explained Michelle wasnt there yet but that she would definately help me and fix my hair and i said ok. She proceeded to tell me she would have Michelle call me when she got in. I got a call a few hours later. I picked up and said "hello?" and she said "hi this is Michelle, your hair was not puffy last night it was laid". I said it was puffy at the roots a little bit and she said no it wasnt. She proceeded to tell me she didnt tell me my hair would last a week. She said it depends on your hair texture. I told her yes I get that but my hair didnt even last a day. She then told me it was because it was humid the night before. I have had this hair on my head 21 years and it has never been straightened and not lasted a day. I told her I was upset because I paid the money and she wasnt going to help me and she told me most people straighten their hair in between appointments. I said so i just paid $75 to straighten my own hair. And she said idk what you want me to do. I finally was over it and I said its fine, ill expect you are just not gonna help me. She then offered to restraighten my hair. At that point I said no because I didnt trust her anymore after all the attitude. Honestly I wasted $75. I straightened my own hair two days after and it has lasted me 6 days and its still straight with humidity and going to the gym. It was just a horrible experience and I will tell everyone I come in contact with because it was absolutely ridiculous she didnt want to fix it until I complained. Needless to say I will continue to go to the Dominican salons. Save your money and your peace of mind. Go somewhere else smh. read more

OMG! My scalp, neck & face was/is burned and the owner was not interested in hearing from dissatisfied customers!! I am relocating to Atlanta and scheduled a touch up perm at Texturz on Peachtree in Duluth. Upon meeting my stylish (Myesha) I asked her for an "updo" & to be sure to base my head to prevent burning (first visit there..wanted to be sure I am comfortable). I recall that she based me really fast & I thought sparsely. She then slopped the perm on my hair, kept flipping/slashing the chemicals on my face & neck. She has "very" long & pointed trendy fingernails that I feel are inappropriate for her line of business & because she kept swiping the side of my face with her nails which just aggravated and activated a more intense chemical reaction! As she rinsed me I shared with her that the pressure of the water was painful on my head & around my face (full circumference!). She adjusted the temperature and proceeded with a vigorous scalp massage & application of more product with those very long fingernails rather than using the "pad" of her fingers!! Cosmetology 101! Who does that!?? By the time she finished the rinse the entire back of my shirt was soaking wet & I was praying for strength to get through it! As if the chemical burns were not enough she then proceeded to burn me with the flat iron and my style was hideous...plus it was "not" the updo that I requested. She guaranteed me that the hairstyle would last at least a week (when I planned to return for a deep conditioning) but I thought no problem because at that point I just wanted to leave. When I went to pay (yes! I still paid $75.00 for it.. $150.00 total both my daughter & I!). I was asked "If I would be adding a "tip" to the total?" that was almost laughable... but then of course I couldn't laugh because I was in so much pain...but I did respond politely with "Not today". I was sure that I would not return and just chalk it up as an unfortunate experience with an obviously inexperienced operator; however, the next morning my face, neck and scalp was red and pus-like and of course the hairstyle was gone & hair was stuck to my scalp! I have experienced a minor burn or irritation before at the beauty shop but NEVER like this! I decided to share my experience with the stylist Myesha. I called the shop, asked for Myesha (because my goal was not to jeopardize her employment but to make her aware). She wasn't in so I asked for if the owner, "Michelle" who was in. I briefly shared my complaint with another operated who fielded my call, she said Michelle "was in". I was put on hold then returned with a statement that Michelle, the owner was busy and would return my call that day.... I have yet to receive that phone call...not impressive business practices Ms.Michelle! This shop lost two potential customers (me and my daughter). Wished that I would have consulted internet reviews like "Yelp" in advance of my headache...literally! read more

I will never go back! I asked (the owner) to cut my hair (which was 3 inches past my shoulders) in long layers and also to KEEP THE LENGTH. After she cut my hair, it was and inch ABOVE my shoulders. The style made me look like an old lady. I hated it. I ended up putting in a weave the next day. She also seem to tell everyone that their hair is weak and damaged so that she can give them a 30 dollar deep conditioner. read more

Let me start by saying, I blame myself, and my previous stylist. (She moved, and I can't find her).....so unprofessional......First of all, I should have never picked a salon of the internet. This place had decent reviews and it was close to home. Atmosphere was pleasant, the owner, stylist talked a good game, when discussing hair and her knowledge. I'm to embarrassed to post before and after pictures, I've been natural for nearly 10 years, and I've tried a few stylist, this is the worse trim (haircut) I've ever had, nothings blended, one side is longer than the other, It's a disaster....I want to cry every time i look in the mirror. HACK JOB, but as she was cutting, she talked like she knew what she was doing,...All, i can do is let it grow out (which will take a while, because she cut all my dang gone hair off) and find someone to fix it. True naturals, the on'es that don't get your hair blown out, the one's that wear your curly texture.... DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT let the owner touch your hair. I really wish I could get a refund.
