When I arrived, she greeted me at the door, took the time to really listen to what I wanted done, then proceeded to give me an expert haircut! Lovely Kay took care of us today. I got my usual, I won't go into specifics about my hair style but she did great as a first timer dealing with my curls. (We, being two walk-ins on a Sunday afternoon, little to no wait.) She took time massaging my scalp during the shampoo/condition and talked to me about what I wanted and didn't rush into cutting my hair as many "butchers" often do. Interior of this salon is adorbs!! Marilyn's all over the wall and there is even a single cup coffee brewer for your convenience. The best part: 13.95$ for a basic cut! Wallet friendly salons always make me a happy person. I hate to give such a bad review, because she was very nice, the salon is okay...BUT my daughter and I went in to get her hair cut and she told her she wanted face framing layers, and to keep her hair long in a V shaped cut, she even stood up to show the lady exactly where she wanted it to reach! Well that's not what she got it's 3 inches shorter than she asked (she wanted to her belly button and it's to her bra strap)and she had NO FACE FRAMING LAYERS! My kid left pissed off, because even after she "fixed the layers" she has NO layers. And her hair is very short (it was below her butt)! Sadly the hair stylist did not listen to what her client asked for! Then said I'll give her a discount because she knew my kiddo wasn't happy. The discount was exactly what they charge for long hair! I'm very disappointed with my experience considering how many good reviews there were, I had high hopes. Two stars because she didn't warp my head but she also didn't do what I asked for. The biggest problem was everyone's attitude. As soon as I walked in it was: you want a hair cut? sign in. Okay, I did and I mention to the stylist (that did not introduce herself) that I was interested in color or highlights. She very visibly did not want to do it. She said it would cost $160+ for full highlights and $90+ for full color. This is not reflected in their price list at all, and my hair is shoulder length. It was obvious she just didn't want to do it, as she literally said "Yeah I don't think you should do any color today." after multiple protests of what I wanted. I use to come here to cut my hair and before any type of cut was $13.95 no matter length of hair. They recently raised price to $25. Over $10 raise! But then I thought I really like how they cut my hair. So I went anyway....walked in... no greeting no smiles no nothing so I said hi and smiled still nothing. Ok.... sat down and was waiting over 15 min. No one even said ok I'll be with you shortly or sorry for wait. I just got up and left because I'm all about customer service. If you don't care about that then go get haircut there but I was not going to pay double amount I usually do and be treated like I don't exist. I usually go there often and was always satisfied with results. But I got charged $30 for a blow out?? That's RIDICULOUS! Haircut is only $14 but what the heck?? Why is a simple blow out that needs less effort than anything so expensive. All in all $50 ?? I don't think I will come back. Also the last time I went, she cut my hair but after I still had some spliss. Ugh. Customer service could be better too. Love Kay's Salon! It's clean, modern and homey. Kay herself cut my hair today and she was pleasant, courteous and really cared about what I wanted. My hair was way down past my bottom and I know hair stylists probably don't see that too often but she did a fine job and it didn't take too long either. On that note, I didn't know what to expect for a weekend day around 1:00, but as a walk-in, I didn't have to wait at all. Did I mention the price? Unbeatable for the amount of expertise! Usually it's $15 but maybe they have a special on Sundays? I paid only $12. Great experience! Especially since I hadn't had a haircut in 6 years! This little gem of a place deserves MUCH more recognition. I will definitely go back! And do yourself a favor and check them out next time you require a freshening up. read more

Kim is an amazing & Professional hairstylist! She truly is top notch in the field. She does pro cuts, coloring, and good business. On a 5 star scale, I'd give her a 10 Plus, plus, plus!!! On the other hand, sadly, Kay is not good at doing hair, especially coloring, at all. She did very poorly on my hair. So much so, that it HAD to be re-done. A long time later, more than a year, I brought my 9 year old granddaughter in for a trim of her dead ends and so Kay dried & curled it. The work in total took at most 15 minutes. She charged $45.00 for it!!! Kids cuts were less than $10. So if anyone agrees she should charge some $37,$38for this please do tell( and I still tipped her $9), please! That's $54 total for a trim & curling iron on a 9 yr old . I feel she's knows very little about doing hair, how to speak to people, and less about running a good business. A few months later, my older daughter Brittany also went to get her hair done, & sadly also went to Kay. She too was very disappointed at the same problems-hair color wasn't right. I was a walk in and expected to wait. I didn't wait long, however, Ms. Kay was apologizing over and over that she was sorry for the wait. So sweet, I advised it was my fault for not making an appointment so it's ok! Lol She was very knowledgable and listened to what I wanted. She also gave me her advice on what she thinks should be done to get my hair healthy again. I loved my haircut. It's a asymmetrical bob, unfortunately, I did not take a picture but am already due for a trim so I will take one on my next visit. This is a nice new salon with a great atmosphere inside in the Publix shopping center. Very modern and clean. Prices are also reasonable. I think they will do well. However, I did have a bit of miscommunication with Kim, she did a decent job but it wasn't perfect. Also, the salon was reasonably busy and she was the only one managing it - which caused her to leave me a few times during my appointment to attend to someone else. read more

Second time going! Both times, it was a great experience. First time was with Kim whom I loved, and I wanted her again, but I got a guy, he said his name was "T" something like that lol but he was wonderful and sweet. He told me what he was doing with my hair and how he was layering it. I just got a cut and 15 dollars for a great cut is just awesome because it's rare to have it that cheap. I was honestly going to just let go of the less than satisfactory experience I had with this salon, because of the respect that the employees gave to their customers, me included. The employees were nice. Unfortunately, this was the only good thing I walked out of my haircut appointment with. I'm only 20, but I've stuck with VERY FEW hair stylists for as long as I can remember. However, my preferred hair stylist is about a 40-minute drive just to arrive and the others have since racked up their prices to ridiculous ranges, so I turned to Yelp, in search of a reasonably priced salon that's hopefully located much closer to my house. I should have never. And I mean: NEVER: just willy-nillied my batch of hair into the hands of just any "experienced hair stylist". Mind you, I cut Kim (the Hair Stylist I made the appointment with) a lot of slack due to the fact that my hair is damaged and dry, so it took her a lot of patience to brush through all of my matted tangled hair and honestly, I felt kind of bad whilst she did so. Nonetheless, I trusted her because of the satisfactory majority vote of this business (and on Kim's work) on here. I didn't realize that was a big mistake until she had finished blow-drying my hair and handed me the mirror to look at the back of my head. Hear me when I say this: I had never in my life seen my hair as awkwardly layered as I saw it at that moment. I had asked her to preserve my hair length, but thin it out just a little and to give it some layers. The worst of the haircut didn't really show itself until I went home and really took a good look into the mirror. It was a choppy mess. Okay. Fine I thought. Maybe it just needed to be tousled around some, and maybe the parting just made it awkward. I tried to counter the fact that I'd just had a BAD haircut that I had just paid give or take **$30** DOLLARS for (regular shampoo/wash included). And when that didn't work, I hopped in the shower, came out, and let it air dry. Nope. A few days later, I tried curling it. Mind you, curling hair is usually a very foolproof way to hide a bad haircut, so it was beyond me when my hair was curled and I was still able to see the stark choppiness in those "layers". Nope. I tried straightening my hair. Surprise surprise, it looked even worse. For crying out loud, I tied my hair up yesterday and it looked absolutely horrid because the layers in the ponytail descended like a short flight of steep-stepped stairs. This experience is news to me, because even though most of my prior Hair Stylists didn't exactly adhere to my pleads about keeping my hair length and volume, none of them have made my hair a mess. Sure, it'd almost always come out anywhere between looking not quite how I wanted it to be and not even the haircut that I'd asked for, but I always, ALWAYS.. walked out, every time, with a PROPER hairstyle. A hairstyle. I don't even know what to do right now. Now I have to wait for my hair to grow back out. I am certain that by the next time I take myself in for a haircut again, I will certainly be driving my butt 40 minutes back to the Hair Stylist I trusted for years. read more

If I can give this salon a -5 stars I would... Lida and Kim suck as stylist. I do NOT recommend this hair salon. I requested balayage blonde and ended up with greyish/purplish color tips. I Had to go back the same day for Lida to fix it. The owner, Kay, was there and saw how upset I was and did not do or say anything about the issue. Lida tried to fix it but it still looked horrible. She had to re do twice!! And she calls that "12 years of experience"??..she already put to many chemicals in my hair for one day. Kim cut my daughter's hair. She wanted trim and V style in the back. She cut more than 2inches off that my daughter was crying over the way her hair looked. I will NEVER come here. Overly priced and non professional. Lida was on the phone with her attorney for more than 45mins while i was sitting there with chemicals in my head...maybe that is why the color came out to be greyish/purple.. for having to wait so long..Since then, I have tried Pika Pika hair salon off Lawrenceville/Suwanee Rd and they are GREAT!
