So we get up to order, I notice the huge accent on the young lady, and she was struggling mightily to speak English. So I ordered in Spanish. There was a man standing next to her, perfect English. I got my cup, went to get my drink while others ordered behind me. I had to go back and translate, because the person behind me was almost in tears trying to order. Like watery eyes and red. What didn't help is the young lady behind register was so bad at hiding her facial expressions, she was annoyed and frustrated. So this is where I have the problem. Why didn't the other gentleman step in, and why have someone taking orders, who can't understand if someone doesn't speak Spanish? I would think because of the area that wouldn't be the case? It really upset me, and the affected person had to go to the bathroom, I'm pretty sure to cry. It wasn't that she couldn't order, but the fact that they mentioned more than one person behind the counter was making faces.. Enough of that. After getting situated and calm, the food began to come out. As for the food, I was excited because as perplexing as it was, the crowd was 99% Latino. Which is 9/10 a great sign we are about to get great food. NOPE. Talk about insult to injury. Dish after dish it was all woefully under seasoned. Like the cheapest laziest way possible. I know you think, I'm just being harsh because of the incident. No, I was actually hoping for the opposite to soften the mood. I mean, everything lacked salt. Everything lacked kick. The awful pink coleslaw on the fish and shrimp tacos was unappetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing, and we all picked it off. I've never seen that in Mexico, or any other seafood place in town. The ceviche also lacked kick. I think I heard, "this is like canned tuna with lime?" No tang or kick. The green table sauce was equally unimpressive. No bite. The coctel was very imbalanced. The servings are tiny for the price. I could go on and on. The one positive, I don't know if they have a machine to make their own corn tortillas, or they buy them, these are the best I've had in a while. I say bought because they were all perfectly the same size and shape! Yep they were pretty darn good. Other than that, I genuinely do not understand the high reviews. Wouldn't ever come here, and absolutely would not recommend!

All the food was delicious; 2 breakfast tacos, one potato and egg and the other chorizo and egg. A breakfast plate of scrambled eggs with chorizo and potatoes with refried beans and house made corn tortillas and salsa. Coffee was good too. Stop by if you're in the area, prices/portions are great too!

The menu doesn't list fajita tacos at all, only a fajita plate for about $13 that includes rice and beans. After paying, we finally saw the receipt because the restaurant uses handheld payment devices. We discovered we had been charged for the fajita plate, nearly twice the cost of three beef tacos, yet we received neither rice nor beans. To make matters worse, this restaurant also charges customers for using a credit card and for to-go cups. Mistakes happen, but being served the wrong item and charged significantly more for it left a very negative impression.

The plate is smaller and is made of some type of foam. I was a little surprised but since it's been a long time not eating at taco palenque, I ordered and ate the food! When I was done eating, I saw the knife and fork marks on the foamed plate (see photos). I immediately informed and show my wife my plate and asked her "is this safe to eat?" She looked at me a surprised looked and I told her, are we eating small particles of foam/plastic" when we cut our food and eat it? Her eyes opened wider and said "OMG! I think we are!". Just want to warn all customers that you may be risking your health by consuming Taco Palenque's food served on these cheap, easy to break, foamed plates. And you may be digesting these plastic in your body! Note to Taco Palenque-What test have your venue done that these new plates are safe to consume/digest with your food? Who made the decision to changed from their paper-like plate to foamed plate? Not safe!

Also, do not let their limited establishment hours deter you from experiencing this delicious barbacoa. With the new sign and new location, I had some questions while driving home. Was their barbacoa the same quality as their other locations? Did it have that rich taste, without the mushy and greasy texture like other establishments that sell barbacoa? When I took that first bite into my tacos, my taste buds were ecstatic to know that the answer to all those questions was a 100% yes. Being one of their newest locations, I highly recommend Rios Barbacoa for quality barbacoa and friendly staff. Do not let the location or small establishment fool you; this barbacoa does not and will not disappoint.
