WARNING- Came here yesterday for the first time in a long time. I was very surprised at their new plates they are mowing serving their food. The plate is smaller and is made of some type of foam. I was a little surprised but since it's been a long time not eating at taco palenque, I ordered and ate the food! When I was done eating, I saw the knife and fork marks on the foamed plate (see photos). I immediately informed and show my wife my plate and asked her "is this safe to eat?" She looked at me a surprised looked and I told her, are we eating small particles of foam/plastic" when we cut our food and eat it? Her eyes opened wider and said "OMG! I think we are!". Just want to warn all customers that you may be risking your health by consuming Taco Palenque's food served on these cheap, easy to break, foamed plates. And you may be digesting these plastic in your body! Note to Taco Palenque-What test have your venue done that these new plates are safe to consume/digest with your food? Who made the decision to changed from their paper-like plate to foamed plate? Not safe! read more

So we come here a lot, and let me tell you, this was the first time seeing this potato on their menu. I was super excited and definitely not disappointed. It was a super huge potato with meat, cheese, and butter along with sour cream on the side. Very yummy and definitely will get again. I highly recommend this spud! If you want Tex, Mex keeping driving this is not that place. Only one combo plate for $20 not cool at all. Flour tortillas were flat and chewy way too much lard. Refried good , rice tasteless, beef fajitas had a great taste just not many of them. Food was not delivered hot at all. Salsa bar could use more salsa and hotter salsa. I have tried taco palenque in the past and was not a big fan. Stopped today because I have been craving Fideo loco for a while and saw they had it. I had super low expectations coming in....but wow! Let's get right into the many positives. The chilaquiles taco was one of the better ones I've had in a while. They had a double tortilla on the speciality tacos which was a welcome thoughtful idea! The chicharron was tasty and very well cooked. Here is a tip! None of the food is spicy! At least not to me. Like at all. We also had the potato and chorizo tacos and potato and egg. The chorizo egg was just ok, the potatoes were just missing the little bit of crunchiness you get on the better ones. The potato and egg was better than average. The Fideo loco hit the spot! This is what it's supposed to be. It was even better when I got home and added sorely needed lime! It made it even better. The avocado sauce literally taste like avocado. Sadly it tastes just like only avocado. There was no kick to it. Depending on the taco, it either was great or gross. The red sauce was pretty good too. The negatives.... Well I'm no huge fan of flour tortillas. I am of this style, the super thin ones. The problem was the inconsistency. Some were cooked perfectly, and some were undercooked, which made them tough and gummy. Also we ordered that burrito chicharron burrito. I should've been weary when the lady at drive thru asked if I was sure because it had a lot of beans. Well the beans aren't good and they put soo much, that it completely overpowered the burrito. Also not such a good combo with the chicharron which made for a horrible texture experience. The best part is it was super affordable and great portions! I ordered the six street tacos w/ Al pastor, the number two, the number one, sirloin steak plate & chicken mole enchiladas. Service was very fast and neatly packaged. Customer Service was very helpful with our order. He helped us make decisions on what was good based off of what was popular in the area. My favorite from here would have to be the Al Pastor street tacos they were AMAZEBALLS. My least favorite would have to be the chicken mole enchilada, way too sweet and did not have much meat. I think that was my main issue with the place would have to be that they were not generous with the servings of meat. The cleanliness and atmosphere of the place was very nice and bright. Definitely stood out to me from the freeway. All in all, I would only return here for the Al Pastor street tacos but it would not be my first pick to stop. read more

I eat at any Taco Palenque I can find anywhere any day any time - and so should you. Their breakfast tacos are THE BEST - it be warned: each one has at least 2 eggs in it, PLUS whatever you ordered with it. Their fresh salsa bar is the best - who doesn't want chips and salsa with breakfast? I make a note of the most northerly TP to me (in Dallas), and I have been eating at TPs every time I come back to South Texas - starting in the 1980s when they were one store in Laredo. Great spot for a quick Tex-Mex meal. Love their street tacos and fajitas. Meat is tender and has a nice smokey grilled flavor. The nacho and condiment bar are a nice complement to the meal. This was our first experience with Taco Palenque and the whole family really enjoyed it. We got steak fajitas and quesadillas. The packaging was very secure and the food came out in less than 5 minutes. It was $15 but it made three very solid and tasty fajita tacos. The tortillas were perfectly cooked and so is the steak. Very juicy and perfectly tender not chewy at all. The quesadillas were also premium and what you're typically going to get from a bar or restaurant. Normally, I'm a Taco Palenque fan. I've never had less than quality food and great service at the other locations I've been to, but this location is still experiencing some growing pains. This is a huge new location and, unlike other locations, they now have ordering kiosks. The salsa and condiment bar also seems to have another mild sauce that reminds me a lot of the basic Taco Cabana salsa. But here's the issues. Namely, they have a hard time keeping up with demand at this location. Orders seemed to take a long time to get delivered to tables -- part of which may have been related to multiple staff members dining in the dining room and the servers stopping by to visit. Also, both my sirloin and fajita tacos had several pieces of fatty meat that shouldn't have been served. The iced tea also ran out and wasn't replaced during my visit. I love Taco P and I'll stop again because it's near where I occasionally work, but I'll try to time my visit when there's not a rush. read more

A dreamy eating spot for an introvert looking to eat, but also keep human interaction to a minimum. 3 functioning & user friendly ordering kiosks are available to customers to place their orders and pay with a card. The kiosks do not accept cash. Traditional registers are available for cash customers. All sauces, vegetable toppings, lime wedges, chips, utensils, and containers are available to self-serve in a centralized island. We don't need to ask any of the employees for extras! Drinks are also self-serve with the exception that you pick up your cup at the registers. Music is not too loud and you can sit, eat your food, enjoy a book in the back corner, and be alright. It is good that do not offer Wi-Fi because I would be in here daily doing my homework and just taking up a table for hours. This location is clean and since I've been sitting here (I am actually still sitting here writing this review at 10:15 am on a Thursday morning) at least two employees are cleaning and organizing, replenishing the toppings, wiping down drinks area and the self-serve area. Food: Ordered a Fajita Burrito and was very happy with the freshness. The meat is tender and flavorful. I love this place but every single time I order I get a different size and price quoted to me on my guacamole. Today they wanted to charge me $3.09 and showed me a portion cup that held about 2oz. Was traveling with my bf and decided to try this place. The lady taking my order kept saying "what" or "huh" after adding something to my order. Y'all shouldn't put someone with a language barrier at the cashier! While placing my to go order i asked for enchiladas suizas, the cashier then says "oh enchilada verdes" i tell her no suizas and she continued to put enchilada verde. I asked her do those come with cheese on top and she said "yes that comes with chicken and cheese inside and cheese on top" so I went ahead and continued my order. Asked for a side of rice she then puts a regular side of guacamole on the screen so I asked; Is that for the rice? and she said yes it's rice and that she has to put it like that because it's regular size. I got my food and I was so irritated! The enchiladas didn't have cheese outside or in. The tortillas were ripping apart as if they don't cook them before putting sauce on top! The rice and beans that come with that meal are in small sauce containers for some odd reason. The side of "rice" turned out to be in fact guacamole. The food here is excellent and the fact that they were open late, was even a plus. I drove in from Orange, TX on my way home to Spring Branch. The only thing that I can complain about is that they weren't sure of what I was trying to order. I wanted the Street Sirloin, but somehow, ordered the matamoros tacos. It's wall good and not their fault, except that I told her street tacos and she didn't know the menu. No worries, I'll get it right next time. I definitely recommend them 100%. After I pulled myself together I made it to the counter to order my food. They have a wide variety of food on the menu, but I opted to see what a 9.99 burrito looked like. I got my bag (I ordered to go), and it weighed almost as much as I do. I sat down at a table and pulled out my burrito. It was ginormous. Before I unwrapped it, I was thinking "I've seen this before.
