My husband had been here before with my in laws. This was my first time. Jalisco is the state my Mom was born in so I was very excited to try it. Service and ambiance were great from the moment we walked in. Our order was ready promptly and the staff was so attentive to our needs. To drink, my husband and I ordered a michelada (mine was virgin with Topo Chico). One of the best and tastiest Micheladas I've had. The chips and salsa are so good here too! So good that We ordered a second round. For my main dish I ordered 2 tacos; al pastor and chicharron (pork skin) with a side of rice & beans. The tacos were delicious. Simple and authentic, just cilantro, onion, and corn (homemade) tortillas. My husband ordered the ranchera plate which is a pork dish, the pork is cooked in a juicy, spicy ranchera sauce. I was very impressed and I will definitely be returning especially since it's not so far from home. The interior design is beautiful as well. Our favorite local dining spot. Never disappoints. My favorite is the Green Enchiladas with the green salsa on the side because it has one heck of a kick which is too much for me. I still use it because it adds to the dish. There's indoor and outdoor dining with a little gated playground for kids who are not ready to sit and dine. Staff is always friendly. We are normally told to sit wherever we like, which I like vs following the hostess through the maze of diners. The food was very very good. The green enchilada plate was huge. The plate came with refried beans, we request Charro beans and we were not disappointed. Pretty sure for their dishes they use velvetta cheese which is fine if you like that! But I personally do not. In my experience the dishes i've had haven't had a lot of spice/flavoring. Wow!! This restaurant is amazing!!! This is our go to Mexican place since coming to the Blanco area. And yes!.... We drive 45 minutes for this place! I have gotten the same thing, the Tacos Cellejeros, every time I go comes with delicious Charro beans. My boyfriend has gotten the Mexican burger and tortas and he tells me they are amazing! He gets the French fries as well and they are crispy! The salsa selections are tasty and the chips and salsas a to die for! This place is about 5 min away from my new house and I'm so glad my friend and I decided to try it. I would drive out of my way to avoid this place. Been twice, once last summer & then this weekend. The service is extraordinarily awful. 5 times we had to go in to ask for waitstaff in 1 sitting. 20 minutes to get someone to visit our table, another 15 to bring out waters, got our entrees before our appetizer, it's not like it was busy or anything! Last time I come to this place. I'll start by saying that the previous location down on 46 east of 281 was better. I'm not sure what happened when they moved but since the move, I came here about 6 months ago and the service was terrible. The food was like warm and just overall not good. Today we tried it again since our go-to place (Sandra's) was closed for the holiday weekend. HUGE MISTAKE! We should have just went home. Our waiter was just lazy and not good. He came by our table one time between wording and getting our food. My husbands coffee was empty and he had to flag down another person to get a refill. The food came and it was missing his side of beans and my side cheese enchilada. The food wasn't really warm and the worst part is I WAS CHEWING A BITE WHEN I BIT INTO A HARD PIECE OF PLASTIC! Gross! This is a newly opened restaurant. We have eaten here twice and have been very pleased with the food, the service, the authentic Mexican ambiance, ample seating indoors and outdoors, spacious parking and easy access from highway 46. They also are completing a fenced in play scape off the outdoor patio for children that is going to be so nice for young families. They are serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The staff was on top of their game and the food was true Tex-Mex and I know good Mexican food living in the San Antonio area all my 80 plus years. I went a second time and they slipped to 4 stars. Today was my third visit. Slipped again to 2 stars. The wait staff was 4 stars but my carne guisada was not real Tex-Mex recipe. I don't know what it is except I know it was tough and cold. My enchiladas were good but barely warm. What ever happened to the "hot plate" warning? My plate was cold, ergo the cold food.
