My friends and I had a great first rodeo experience here at Tejas Rodeo. Reserved seating Tickets were affordable and we loved the rodeo performances and ambiance. Such a cool place to dress up in cowboy outfits and have a good time! There was a restaurant which we didn't get to try, a mechanical bull riding section, live music and entertainment in the end for dancing and a great saloon bar to enjoy drinks at and take some photo ops with the horses tail seats. Very cool! I would highly return if ever I have another opportunity.

100/5 stars! This is the BEST! The Mac and cheese is the best I have ever had in my entire life. The Kansas City steak was to die for! Peach cobbler, the best potato salad, Texas sweet tea. Do yourself a favor and book tickets now for this incredible experience. The rodeo, the steak, the staff. It is the best of the best. You will love the ambiance. It is authentic and not a lame western town. Everyone is genuine, gracious and can we talk about the food some more because YUM!!!

Ordered the chopped pepper steak. Way too much pepper. Very dry. I was not the only one that had it and was highly disappointed. Definitely would not order it again.

Loved the patriotic vibes of the rodeo. Amazing talent for sure. Sitting (bleachers) was as uncomfortable as it gets. You have to get in your seat at least an hour before the show starts if you'd like to secure a seat, and I tell you, sitting in hot, narrow bleachers with no back support for 3+ hours can not only suck the fun out of the experience but also give you the kind of back pain that will last for days. I was anticipating more things to do before the show, like vendors to shop from and aside from the small, very expensive gift shop and the small tent selling hat and some leather good at the entrance, there was none.

Not a bad spread. Thank you for your service, Mike Neufeld.

Solid 4.5 star score from this multi-use facility. The location has a steak house, multiple drink areas, a barbecue concession, an outdoor dance floor, and of course, its rodeo. This ranch rodeos on Saturday evenings. Plenty of seats early in the stands, but they fill up real fast. Once seated you can get out, but your better bring your manners because you'll have to move people to get out of your seat. We went to celebrate the retirement for Army Nurse Mike Nuefeld. He put on a good spread of green beans, spicy mac'n'cheese, and brisket. The green beans were full of flavor with bacon chunks. The spicy mac was cheesy. The brisket was moist. I ordered a hard lemonade from the bar. Liz went with a classic margie. They did not skimp on the alcohol, Big cups, mean you don't have to go back as often. As the sun went down the place started filling up. The place has character and the rodeo is a great draw. Plenty of fast roping, cash grabbin, bull riding, and hog tyin... with both cowboys and cowgirls. Fun for all the family. Good cowboy times. Whoop!

We are visiting San Antonio and we had to go to a Rodeo! We were so lucky because they just started again in March! We got tickets in advance through Viator and we were so glad because it was a complete sell out! The atmosphere was great, friendly people and the contestants were amazing! It was a bit of a drive for us but it was so worth it! Yee Ha Y'all!

Hi there! I'll be in San Antonio the weekend of December 15th and I'm interested in going to a rodeo! I've found this place and it works.. is there a rodeo every weekend nights? Or when during the week is there a rodeo?…

Tejas is done with the rodeo till next year. It ended in November. If you have Instagram its posted on that site.

We tried a variety of options, and had a good overall time. That said, two things brought the experience down. First, at the wristband pickup, the worker was so rude! A little friendliness goes a long way, especially for returning guests. More significantly: I paid for two Fast Passes expecting priority access to rides and they were completely ignored. Ride operators ignored the fast pass guests. This isn't a small inconvenience; it's paying for a service that simply wasn't delivered. My advice: skip the Fast Pass until the rodeo has the staffing and systems to actually enforce it. It works at Disney and Universal because those parks have dedicated infrastructure for it. Here, it felt like an upsell with no follow-through.

Went with a school trip so I didn't really get to explore but the general admission ticket covers all of the grounds, with the carnival area having a separate wristband for the rides. We saw horses, cows, several educational sessions, the HEB dairy area with information on milk cows, and we really enjoyed the petting farm. All of these activities were free, except at the petting farm you needed to buy food if you wanted to feed the animals ($5 per cup). Petting area was fun for small children, with goats, chickens, a pig, 2 deer. It's a lot of walking so if with small kids, I would bring a stroller, even though some areas might not be very stroller friendly. Throughout the grounds, there were food vendors, drink vendors, and clean restrooms inside the buildings. Parking is $25 for the onsite lot and $10 for the Blue Lot off Gembler Road which was a short shuttle ride. On each way, I didn't have to wait for the shuttle, but not sure if they run that frequently all day. I also went on a Thursday, so on the weekend if you were having to wait 30 mins for the shuttle I could see that it would be worth it for the on site parking, or if you have small kids and don't want to deal with the shuttle! Fun time, would like to go again and if so, I'll try for a weekday again to avoid some crowds.

Weekends require purchased tickets. There's a little something for everyone, food galore, adult beverages, shopping, live music, a carnival, indoor and outdoor seating, etc. Do yourself a favor and get a pork chop on a stick. It's the most popular food item- you can tell by the constant line of people at their booth. My one disappointment is that beer prices continually rise every year. There was a point in time that you could get a domestic beer pitcher for $15-17, now a pitcher (import) is over $30! Although I wish the prices would decline, I know that I'm going to return each year because I always have the best time!

Quick historical tidbit: Of all the settlers that came to…read moreTexas only the German Immigrants did not break treaties with Indians. Which became the basis in the creation of New Braunfels. Why did I add this? Well, as a newbie to Wurstfest the friendliness by the community is abundant. I have been meaning to do it for years but that day never came, until now. I am not a fan of crowds even though I'm front and center for Fiesta San Antonio. In Texas we love to party. Which brings me back to my historical tidbit. All immigrants, settlers that have come(and still do) from other countries have contributed to the genesis of our state. Be it by culture, food and music. Wurstfest is a reaffirmation of the influence German Immigrants has had in the creation of a Texas identity. An event that unabashedly celebrates both sausage and beer, which is a match made in heaven. Firstly, I implore you to buy tickets online. It's five bucks lesser and will alleviate potential entrance headaches. As I get older I find myself opting to go early or when an event opens. If you're an introvert like as me I highly recommend this. Wurstfest offers a shuttle service that is minutes away. I encourage you to utilize this. For about ten bucks you park in a separate area away from the event. The shuttle buses run every few minutes. And they run extremely efficiently. When I arrived here I was struck by how vast it is. I have never been to the October Fest in Germany. But as big as Texas Events are this one is really on an epic scale. You can sense what this event means to this community. Before you even enter you see masses of men wearing Alpine Hats and lederhosen. And the women rocking dirndl dresses. Entering and walking on the grounds you are surrounded by beer, food and music. Pretzels. Schnitzel. Bratwurst. Sauerkraut. In all directions there are beer stations everywhere. You can buy beer by the cup, plastic stein or the pitcher. There is a small list of beers on tap: Spoetzl Brewery and Hofbrau, from Germany. Brace yourself for the lines. You won't find a Hazy IPA, Trappist ALE nor any other style of beer for that matter. All beer and food is meant to aggrandize German culture, heritage and traditions. Thus it is mainly German styles. In addition there are pockets of small and large areas with picnic style seating and music. It is a communal affair. In Wursthalle Oompah Bands are playing with festivalgoers steins hoisted in the air, in unison with the music. The dance floor is filled with couples and that odd single dude doing the "Chicken Dance." For a second I closed my eyes and could hear the similarities between Mexican and Conjunto music. Thus the German Culture is monumental. In contrast in San Antonio when events where food and drinks collide there is a rowdy crowd. It often leads to grandstanding or hot-headed patrons. All throughout the day everyone was extremely friendly. It is a party vibe but my summation is that festivalgoers want to have a good time without incident. People have commented on how expensive this event is. Food items are reasonably priced but the beer is where the brunt of your money will go to. Pitchers were $40 bucks and I saw people walking around with three or more empty vessels. My suggestion is to stick with the German beers. They go perfectly with the food and are more full bodied. Especially with the brezel wurst I had. I know this used to be a ticketed event for everything here. Food and beer are by credit or debit card only. Before I do a terrible, awkward and awful interpretation of a "Chicken Dance" to cap this review let me add this. The Wurstfest is an awesome event that celebrates German Heritage. It fits in with the historical narrative that all immigrants contribute and still continue to our mosaic. If you've never gone before I highly recommend it. Next year I'm going to rock an Alpine Hat but I'm leaving the lederhosen home.
