Why haven't you come here?!?!? It is sooo good! It is a Saturday at 3pm and we are the only ones here with our baby. I was craving a burger . EVERYTHING was good! I had the cheeseburger and it was so good I didn't even put ketchup on it. I wanted all the flavor. The nachos were AMAZING! The staff is so friendly and attentive. We stopped in at The Hitching Post on July 16, 2026 for a quick dinner before heading back to Dallas. The place was not busy, but has a very welcoming environment. Our server was super sweet and helpful in letting us know what was popular. We settled on fried green tomatoes with a yummy ranch dip and shared the chicken fried steak (which was plenty for both us to enjoy and leave full). Tried this place for the first time. The atmosphere was good. Walking, the sign says, "seat yourself." We get a table in the back. All the tables in the front are full. Then this lady came to tell us that the entire area is reserved for a party at 6:45 PM. Later found out she was the manager. So we move to the bar. The bartender was super awesome. I'm my options he runs the whole show. He was everywhere, taking care of customers. I ordered the hamburger, which had two meat patties and an onion. The rest was the brisket nacho (very good), the club sandwich (good), and the boneless chicken (good). Love the fries. After about 1 1/2 hours. That party never showed up. I think it was just an excuse to keep that area closed. read more

The employees were very friendly and very accomodating! The restaurant itself was very clean and had a nice atmosphere to it. The food was fairly cheap for the large sizes they give you and tasted amazing! However, the food items we had ordered were very salty (not sure if the same applied to the rest of the other food items on the menu), but still tasted delicious nevertheless. read more

My son picked up the to go order and he said everyone was really friendly and there was a good feeling in the restaurant. He stated everything looked very clean and inviting. The food was good! We got Smashburgers and Chicken Fried Steak. Appetizers were Brisket Nachos and Fried Mushrooms. Mushrooms were just ok. All else was good. Stop by and try them out. read more

Just wanted to let the manager know that you have a wonderful waitress working for you. My daughter, granddaughters went to have supper yesterday afternoon. Did not ask the waitress for her name but did find out she was 22 yrs old. She is such a good waitress and made sure to find out how the food was cooked because certain food I can not eat. She was on top of making sure our drinks were always filled and checked to make sure we did not need anything. You do not find that kind of service nowadays and we will be going back. We recently had the opportunity to try out The Hitching Post at Retama Park. I ordered their All-American Smash Cheeseburger and my girlfriend order their Bruchetta Chicken. Ok, this is easily the best burger in the area. Fresh ingredients, very tasty bun, and perfectly grilled meat...so tasty. I asked for my fries extra crispy and they were delicious. My girlfriend loved the Bruchetta Chicken which was cooked perfectly and was very juicy. We also sampled their Paloma and Spicy Mango Margarita which were very good. I couldn't believe how high quality this place is. At first I looked cross-eyed at the prices. The chicken fried steak was excellent and I've never had a better tasting gravy (with enough gravy, which never happens) the old fashioned, with honey comb, was sick. Great service. Went with my daughter on 4th of July lunch we ate inside because of the heat as sun went down behind racetrack we went outside to their patio for desert . our waitress Cortney was so kind and helpful ,just a gem of a young lady ,the only thing I honestly have to say is the peach cobbler was really below the quality of everything else we've eaten there .Need to find a better peach cobbler maker and put peaches in it not just syrup .Other than that the burgers are great the fries are hot fresh and really really good ,the meatloaf is good and big serving and the chicken fried steak was very tender.The restaurant is impeccable,you can't go wrong eating here and the prices are very reasonable. read more
