So I asked for a bowl of Caldo, which they said they had on the menu and the waitress confirmed that they did have it then she came back from the kitchen and said they did not have it but they had tortilla soup and I said does it have a lot of vegetables because I'm in the mood for vegetables. She said oh yes, I said, does it have a lot of carrots and squash and she confirmed that as well, so when I got my bowl of tortilla soup, it had not one single vegetable in it but a half a potato and two skins off of a zucchini and the chicken inside the bowl were little squares meat that I couldn't even chew they were insanely tough. If I could give no stars, If I could give no stars to this restaurant. I tried it, and I won't be going back.

Stopped in for some breakfast tacos with some friends. Melanie's is an unassuming little restaurant in Universal City. Ambiance inside: informal, quaint, working class restaurant Food: very generous and tasty breakfast tacos. Tried a machacado taco and an asada and egg taco. The machacado was incredible. The asada and egg was good. Very generous portions. Salsas were just OK. Service: somewhat lackadaisical service Value: excellent Overall cleanliness: below average (tables were not thoroughly cleaned between customers) Bathroom cleanliness: below average Exterior reminds me of a tire shop with office Parking: tight parking lot. If you drive a sports car or a car you really love and the paved lot is full, consider parking across the street.

First time here. We throughly enjoyed our choices. He chose the waffle plate, with a bowl of oatmeal. Mine is pictured, all was delicious. Pozole was taken home for dinner. Will be back to taste more.

We ordered a chorizo and egg burrito, an asada taco with egg, a chorizo taco with egg, and a chorizo plate. The main reason for the lower rating was the chorizo. It had a very unusual texture and flavor--almost more like ground chicken. It wasn't bad, just very different from any chorizo I've had before, so it wasn't quite what I expected. My husband said the burrito tasted good but had a bit too many beans. My son's chorizo plate was plentiful and he said it was good. The salsas were also really good with no complaints there, and the customer service at the drive-thru was friendly. Overall, it was a decent experience. When I rate places, I usually compare them to the best and worst I've had in that type of food. This spot definitely isn't the worst, but it didn't quite beat my favorites either. I went back and forth between giving it a 3 or a 4, but it's still worth trying, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if I needed a quick bite.

I've seen people mention the service being slow, but that hasn't been my experience at all. The servers are fast, friendly, and actually know the menu, which makes a big difference. The food is consistently amazing -- fresh, flavorful, and worth every penny. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you're getting. Plus, they gave the inside a little facelift recently with beautifully lacquered tables and seating, and it looks great. Easily one of my go-to spots for seafood. If you're into real Sinaloense mariscos, this place is it.

When we arrived we were seated quickly and the staff was very nice. It wasn't very crowded and therefore it was a bit quiet. The chips and salsa were amazing! The salsa had the perfect amount of spice. The fajitas came out and I was like "now these are fajitas". It was super excited and couldn't wait to dig in. They tasted really good and the corn tortillas were so much better than that other location. I have to admit that I am still on the hunt for amazing fajitas, however these are definitely better than my last ones and I look forward to returning and trying out other menu items. The only downfall was the blinds. Yeah, I get it and they are just blinds, however they were just so dirty and it distracted from the whole experience. Cleanliness is important.

Friendly, attentive, and very fast from start to finish. The food was okay. Nothing I'd object to, but also not at the top of my list. It satisfied the hunger without standing out. That's what keeps it at four stars for me: great service and a smooth experience, very affordable, with food that's solid but not memorable.

I do believe they have outside seating when the weather permits. The meat was well cooked and flavorful. The salsa and chips they serve when you arrive are tasty. We paid extra for flour tortillas for our enchilada because my parents don't like corn tortilla. It was $1.99. I did ask when we ordered for our drinks to be put in a to go cup since I wanted to take it home instead of drink it there. They did charge for the cups. The drink was included in the lunch special price of $11.99. Some of the lunch specials came with two items which is great for when you can't decide what you want. My Guisada and enchiladas also came with a side of tortillas. I could choose between corn and flour. They had a napkin dispenser at the table which is nice so that we didn't have to call the waitress over for more. It was a comfortable dining experience. We will come back to eat again. They do charge $1+ for credit card so I advise you to pay in cash.
