It's the best in the area, delicious. Could do better with picking out the bone fragments in the barbacoa.

Their fresh salsa bar is the best - who doesn't want chips and salsa with breakfast? I make a note of the most northerly TP to me (in Dallas), and I have been eating at TPs every time I come back to South Texas - starting in the 1980s when they were one store in Laredo. The plate is smaller and is made of some type of foam. I was a little surprised but since it's been a long time not eating at taco palenque, I ordered and ate the food! When I was done eating, I saw the knife and fork marks on the foamed plate (see photos). I immediately informed and show my wife my plate and asked her "is this safe to eat?" She looked at me a surprised looked and I told her, are we eating small particles of foam/plastic" when we cut our food and eat it? Her eyes opened wider and said "OMG! I think we are!". Just want to warn all customers that you may be risking your health by consuming Taco Palenque's food served on these cheap, easy to break, foamed plates. And you may be digesting these plastic in your body! Note to Taco Palenque-What test have your venue done that these new plates are safe to consume/digest with your food? Who made the decision to changed from their paper-like plate to foamed plate? Not safe!

I've seen people mention the service being slow, but that hasn't been my experience at all. The servers are fast, friendly, and actually know the menu, which makes a big difference. The food is consistently amazing -- fresh, flavorful, and worth every penny. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you're getting. Plus, they gave the inside a little facelift recently with beautifully lacquered tables and seating, and it looks great. Easily one of my go-to spots for seafood. If you're into real Sinaloense mariscos, this place is it.

We ordered a chorizo and egg burrito, an asada taco with egg, a chorizo taco with egg, and a chorizo plate. The main reason for the lower rating was the chorizo. It had a very unusual texture and flavor--almost more like ground chicken. It wasn't bad, just very different from any chorizo I've had before, so it wasn't quite what I expected. My husband said the burrito tasted good but had a bit too many beans. My son's chorizo plate was plentiful and he said it was good. The salsas were also really good with no complaints there, and the customer service at the drive-thru was friendly. Overall, it was a decent experience. When I rate places, I usually compare them to the best and worst I've had in that type of food. This spot definitely isn't the worst, but it didn't quite beat my favorites either. I went back and forth between giving it a 3 or a 4, but it's still worth trying, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if I needed a quick bite.

I ordered online for pickup, and my order was ready quickly. Everything was fresh, hot, and prepared just right when I picked it up. They also included plenty of hot sauces in the bag, which is always a bonus. I ordered a carne asada taco, an al pastor taco, and a quesabirria. The tacos were really good, with the al pastor being my favorite of the three. I didn't love the quesabirria, though. It was a little light on the meat and loaded with cheese. That said, it's probably more of a "me" issue since I'm not a huge fan of overly cheesy dishes. If my husband had been with me, he likely would have loved it because cheese is definitely his thing! Overall, I was very happy with the food and would definitely eat here again. I'll be back.

Inside is always welcoming too with plenty of seating and you also get an opportunity to eat your heart out on all the free chips and salsa they have. Music is always considerately good as we can have a conversation with each other without yelling at one another. Staff is consistently checking in on us too which I appreciate.
