This is in our top ten let down places for the year.....everything that could go wrong went wrong. From ordering, to the food, wrong. First, I'm a very proud Mexican, I'm fluent in 4 languages. So I don't have a problem with ordering pretty much anywhere. The problem was I was the only one bilingual in my party. Please understand the following. I'm not even remotely stating anyone's ethnic background or language is wrong. So we get up to order, I notice the huge accent on the young lady, and she was struggling mightily to speak English. So I ordered in Spanish. There was a man standing next to her, perfect English. I got my cup, went to get my drink while others ordered behind me. I had to go back and translate, because the person behind me was almost in tears trying to order. Like watery eyes and red. What didn't help is the young lady behind register was so bad at hiding her facial expressions, she was annoyed and frustrated. So this is where I have the problem. Why didn't the other gentleman step in, and why have someone taking orders, who can't understand if someone doesn't speak Spanish? I would think because of the area that wouldn't be the case? It really upset me, and the affected person had to go to the bathroom, I'm pretty sure to cry. It wasn't that she couldn't order, but the fact that they mentioned more than one person behind the counter was making faces.. Enough of that. After getting situated and calm, the food began to come out. As for the food, I was excited because as perplexing as it was, the crowd was 99% Latino. Which is 9/10 a great sign we are about to get great food. NOPE. Talk about insult to injury. Dish after dish it was all woefully under seasoned. Like the cheapest laziest way possible. I know you think, I'm just being harsh because of the incident. No, I was actually hoping for the opposite to soften the mood. I mean, everything lacked salt. Everything lacked kick. The awful pink coleslaw on the fish and shrimp tacos was unappetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing, and we all picked it off. I've never seen that in Mexico, or any other seafood place in town. The ceviche also lacked kick. I think I heard, "this is like canned tuna with lime?" No tang or kick. The green table sauce was equally unimpressive. No bite. The coctel was very imbalanced. The servings are tiny for the price. I could go on and on. The one positive, I don't know if they have a machine to make their own corn tortillas, or they buy them, these are the best I've had in a while. I say bought because they were all perfectly the same size and shape! Yep they were pretty darn good. Other than that, I genuinely do not understand the high reviews. Have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Heard good reviews from some friends. We finally made it here and thought I'd try some ceviche but my stomach was feeling a little funny so I ordered fried whole fish which was Tilapia and asked for rice instead of French Fries. It came with a salad with avocado slices which was fine. My friend ordered 2 little street tacos and a side of rice and beans. It's a order counter type of establishment where you place your order and they bring your meals on a paper plate. It was challenging because I had to ask for a knife and extra fork so I could cut up my fish and place the bones and pieces on 2 other paper plates because the fish was so huge and deboning wasn't easy. Utensils aren't set out so you have to ask for it at the order counter. It wasn't exactly easy to eat but the fish was tasty, dirty rice(?) was tender and so was the salad. I couldn't finish everything so I asked the waitress for a container. The styrofoam container held my leftover fish, rice & salad but I had to split my fish in order to fit. I should've asked for a piece of foil. The tap water from the soft drink dispenser was kinda chemical tasting so I hardly drank it. Inexpensive prices & festive atmosphere. I have been wanting to try this place for over a year!! I'm so glad I finally got the chance!! (They were either closed when I wanted to go or didn't have anyone to go with.) I knew they were good because every time I pass by the parking lot is packed. As you're walking in, you smell fabulous grilling meat. This is not a sit down in order restaurant, you go up to the counter in order they give you a number and bring it out to you. With Marisco in the name, clearly I went seafood heavy on the order. I was a little bit scared to try the octopus not knowing how fresh the flavor might be, but it was amazing! The flavor was so fresh and the texture was perfect, it was not overcooked. The ceviche was insanely good, perfect balance of flavors of acidity, texture with the tomato and onion, it was just so excellent. The shrimp as well, nice flavor, nice texture and not overcooked. Their margaritas were good, very refreshing because it was like almost 100° outside the day that I went. The service was great, they checked on us regularly and made sure to take any plates. We were done with which helped keep the flies away, next time I'll definitely eat inside though. The only thing I wasn't completely impressed with was the Carne Asada nachos, the taste didn't fit the smell. The flavor was a bit lacking and it didn't have any salt or seasoning. Even when you ate the nachos with everything else, it still didn't have the punch you would expect. The smell of grilled meat just didn't match the actual flavor. You walk in and order at the counter from a variety of mostly seafood options, but they have choices for those that don't enjoy seafood like nachos and tortas. We sat outside near the play area in the shaded patio. It was a hit with our kids, they had a blast playing on the wooden ship. Our food came out incredibly quick. Even though it was counter service, various servers came and checked on us throughout the meal. Overall we enjoyed the food. The kids chowed down on the nuggets and fries since they aren't fans of seafood. The tostada was full of toppings and if you aren't super hungry, one could be a meal. The fish and shrimp could have been fried a little crispier/harder in my opinion, but aside from that, we enjoyed the meal. I absolutely love Mariscos and this place is so conveniently close to home! What I love most about Mariscos el paisa is that they serve alternative options for those that don't eat or like seafood. They have tacos, tortas, and quesadillas as well as their main Mariscos menu! My husband and I have tried several items from their entire menu! Fish and shrimp tacos (which are a must try) and we have also had quesadillas, tacos, and tortas! The staff/service is so welcoming and attentive! Restaurant located right off highway 281 North. It's nothing fancy but straight off the top the food is really delicious! Parking lot had ample space for customers and inside of restaurant is quite clean with plenty of seating. There is also a shaded patio with a play area for kids and a walk up bar plus a fountain too. Menus were posted above the cashier's area and staff members were helpful with their suggestions. I had the shrimp tacos, very good! Hubs had the shrimp quesadilla and he enjoyed it as well. This place is so fun! It's counter service in that you order at the counter and the servers bring out your food. Very Texan. They have a lot of seafood options, which is great! I actually had the beef burrito and it was delicious! Next time I may try the wet burrito. They have both alcoholic and non alcoholic options. Had the beef taco salad. It would've only been marginal if the beef had been edible. As it was, they did not offer fajita beef, and the beef that was in the taco was about 40% gristle. Probably the best tacos I've had since I've been in Texas. I love that they use corn tortillas. I also had the pastor torta and omg it was delicious. My wife had the chicken quesadilla and it was delicious and huge. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful, there wasn't a second where I felt I couldn't ask for anything. Inside is super cool such great decor and makes you feel like you're on the coast at some hole in the wall local spot where everyone knows the food is amazing. The man that took our order was very knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is mostly seafood dishes. Their tex-mex is limited, but they do have enchiladas, nachos and burritos. They have a variety of bottled beer, but unfortunately no margaritas. My husband had the fried shrimp and seafood platter and one taquito. I ordered the small shrimp cerviche and the fish taco plate. The food came out within 5 minutes. Everything was really delicious. The delicious "small" cerviche serving was generous and I ended up sharing with the hubby. The fish tacos were different. They had a mixture of cooked fish and fried fish. That's the first time I've had that combination and it tasted great. I would definitely return. There's a play area for children. I am not sure how long Mariscos El Paisa has been around. I know that we discovered it through my brother a couple of years ago and we loved it. Their seafood tostadas are very good, as are their oysters in a shell and fried seafood. It is modeled after Mexican seafood places, and the fish served is fresh. During this visit, I ordered the Tostada Mixta, which has crab, shrimp and fish, the half order of oysters in the shell and an horchata water. All were incredibly delicious. The oysters were very good and large. The fish tostada had a huge portion of fish. In fact, only one tostada can be very filling, and the horchata very tasty. All in all, it was very reasonably priced and worth the visit. read more

We are staying at the JW Marriott and decided to venture out for dinner and found this place based on reviews. So glad we did! The outside area is fantastic - lots of large tables, colorful decor, shade, and a fun play area for kids with a wooden ship to climb all over. Service was attentive and friendly. They have a full bar so have a drink outside while you watch your children play. I ordered the fish tacos for $9. Great price and reasonably sized. The parking lot is tight so be cautious when you park your vehicle. The staff are friendly and help with throwing your trash when you're done eating. Big menu, but I ordered something off menu--carne guisada enchiladas. They were excellent! Counter service and food delivery was fast and friendly. There are lots of bar options and cold beer on ice. The atmosphere is fun and casual. We sat on the patio, and even on a hot day, the shade and misters kept sit very comfortable. Overall, good experience. In spite of having lots to choose from, I ordered a standard margarita on the rocks. Nice presentation with tajin on the rim, burnt the drink was just "meh." I'm sure other selections would be better. Again, there is lots to choose from. The only other "con" is that the chips and salsa aren't complimentary--a standard offering at most Mexican restaurants in the region. Chips were good though.
