My husband was craving some authentic Thai food, so I recommended this place because I had had it there before they moved to their new location. He placed an online order and went to pick it up. When he got home and we opened the bag, we were disappointed. The sesame chicken was frozen or pre-breaded chicken, and the sauce was a bland BBQ sauce with no spice. My teriyaki chicken was dry and tasted like beef broth and was incredibly spicy, even though I had requested no spice. The wonton soup tasted like chicken noodle soup, and the wontons were undercooked and fell apart like dumplings. I had ordered coconut boba tea, but there was no boba. I poured it into another cup, and a small, frozen chunk of boba came out. When I called to complain, the girl who answered said they had a new cook and asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. The manager said I could bring everything back and she would remake it, but we live 25 minutes away up 281, and I wasn't about to drive back into town. She then offered to give me 30% off the boba and sesame chicken, but she couldn't guarantee it because they use a third-party service for online orders. I could hear the first girl arguing with the manager that she definitely put boba in the soup and I was lying. I told her to forget it and I wasn't worried about it anymore. Then she said no, I'll give you an in-store credit for the boba and sesame only, so $7.99 and $14.99, after we paid $95 for everything with a $15 tip. I definitely won't be coming back to this place. This place is fairly new and my husband had recently noticed it while driving in the area. We decided to give it a try and it was just ok, unfortunately. We try new places all the time, especially Asian cuisine, since my husband is Asian. This place wasn't what we were hoping. Service was good, food was ok. My husband and I have a theory/opinion that when a restaurant offers multi cultural food, it compromises the quality of one or both. This place serves sushi and Thai food. We ordered both and I personally enjoyed the Thai food better. I ordered Thai tea to drink, edamame as my appetizer and curry as my main dish. The curry was very flavorful and the edamame cooked great. My Thai tea was ok. My husband ordered spring rolls as his appetizer, the Carme sushi roll and the pad see ew. We shared everything and all (thai) dishes we ordered with chicken. Overall, we just felt there was a lack of authenticity and it was kind of weird to me that they charge for sauces (sriracha and chili oil) when most restaurants just provide it for you at each table. Vibe/ambiance was casual. I personally don't see myself returning but I'm glad we gave it a try. Plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing. Honestly, 3 stars is generous because there were many pros & cons. We ate here on a Sunday and they open at 5 PM. They are clearly not ready for the 5 PM dining crowd, though. We arrived about 10 after and there were already 5 tables seated but no one appeared to have drinks or anything on their tables. They have one hostess, one waitress, and one person making sushi. The poor waitress was STRESSSED to say the least. And there was a 30+ minute wait for sushi. We did order sushi, but ended up just canceling it after we started eating the rest of our meal and it wasn't coming out anytime soon. I'm assuming that there's no tip sharing at this restaurant since the hostess stands around and scrolls her phone instead of helping out the waitress. The hostess could refill drinks, clear dirty dishes, bring to-go boxes, etc., but she does nothing except seat tables. It just puts a bad taste in your mouth as a customer when you see staff literally doing nothing when you need service and have to wait on the busy waitress to provide it to a full restaurant. We had to ask for everything...utensils, straws, sauces, to-go boxes (3 times so I just got up and got them myself), the check, etc. Annoying. The food came out rather quickly after being ordered, but we were really disappointed with the temperature of our entrées. They were lukewarm, at best, when I would've expected things to come out steaming hot. Portions are large though and I liked my Pad Thai leftovers. Overall, it was just a lackluster experience and we probably won't be back. Maybe to-go is the way to go here. read more

My co-workers and I were excited to try somewhere new for lunch today. We decided to order from Thai Kitchen and have it delivered since it was an option given on their website. Menufy is their third party delivery company they use. The Menufy deliverer showed up without our order. We called Thai Kitchen and they informed us our food was still there and that another Menufy driver would be bringing it to us. Over an hour later we called and the driver never showed up and our food was still sitting there. The manager at Thai Kitchen stated they had done their job and made the food on time. They put complete blame on Menufy. While we agree Menufy was the cause of this issue, as the restaurant who partners with Menufy, we'd have expected a little more customer service from them. We inquired about a refund or fresh food and they said we could wait for the refund from Menufy and then reorder. By the time there was any resolution (the refund was given by Menufy) our lunch function was over and we hadn't eaten. We would not recommend Thai Kitchen, especially the delivery option, as they are not an efficient place for the lunch hour nor do they care much beyond "their part". read more

I'm giving the business a 5 star review because in the MANY times my hubby and I have been here (both in person and ordering online) as well as taking our family members, this is the first time they have ever gotten an order wrong. Even though I ordered tofu, the chicken was cooked perfectly and it was not too spicy! Sushi was nice and cold (which is a huge feat- since it was DELIVERY) ao that was a plus. This restaurant was recommended by a great friend of mine, while my best friend and I were visiting her in Spring Branch. We decided to order takeaway dishes on our way back to San Antonio. I accidentally selected yum woonsen(has shrimp, which I'm allergic to) instead of pad woonsen and when I went into the restaurant to tell the restaurant, just to try and get this kinda resolve but they said oh well you got it during a discount time and we can't give you a different order, even though I literally couldn't eat the one they gave me, I wasn't trying to get a free meal. But they said I needed to go through grubhub. I was like ok I get it no problem, I call grubhub and they say oh yea no since you excepted the food we cannot refund or credit you. Well this is a prime location right off 281 and not really near any other sushi or Thai restaurants. Only downfall is it is a little hidden, tucked back farther than some of the other places near the hwy. The staff was so sweet and my Green Curry was yummy, for me it wasn't spicy really at all, which is usually a downfall but it still was full of flavors! I would and will go back for sure, but I want to see how the sushi is ... my friend enjoyed the Pad Thai but was wishing for a little more color in it. For the Boba teas: They are a little over priced in my opinion but they also are larger then I usually get, and the Boba was still warm when it came out, showing me they made it fresh! Bulverde needed a good Asian restaurant and Thai Kitchen and Sushi Bar answered. It's a welcome addition to the ever growing stretch along 281. Located in a wonderfully old stone building it's been restored inside while retaining its historic charm. With a large menu featuring one side for sushi and the other for your traditional Thai dishes like Pad Thai and curry as well as some Chinese inspired dishes it's sure to please any Asian craving. For appetizers the soft shell crab in a tempura batter was my favorite. We've also tried the Vietnamese spring rolls. Both are solid choices. For main courses the Panang curry and Thai pineapple rice were both outstanding. The curry was incredibly flavorful and had the right amount of heat to it. Pad Thai and drunken noodles are also a good choice but the curry is a must for me on every visit. Thai Kitchen also serves beer and wine which is always a plus in my book. Service has been excellent and on every visit it's been clean and up to COVID-19 standards. Looking forward to more dining experiences here! read more

I think hubby has some competition--I'm in LOVE! Thai Kitchen has dreamy mouth watering Thai food with the perfect amount of spice. Even if your not a super spicy fan, they are very accommodating just ask for mild. We usually order it medium, but our family likes it spicy. The drunken noodles & yellow curry are the BEST. I'm not a huge fan of their sushi (heads up I'm kinda a sushi snob), but the rest of my fam likes it. I'm giving Thai Kitchen a five star rating based on the service and quality & taste of the Thai food (despite the sushi being only a 3.5-4 star). This place is right up there (or maybe slightly better) than my favorite Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. Definitely highly recommend! read more

Terrible food and customer service - the manager apparently has no desire to accommodate customers. After ordering often from this location and having OK experiences... we had 1 bad experience tonight (borderline inedible annd flavorless) and called to let them know expecting a refund or coupon to remedy. Manager wanted us to drive the food back so she could evaluate it. And then said she got no complaints today and if she refunded everyone who complained they'd be out of business. Such a joke. I asked her if I drove the food back, would I be guaranteed a refund... and she couldnt answer. See the rest of their Google reviews, you'll notice a trend with the manager. We've eaten here dozens of times and the Pad Thai is almost always very good. I got severe food poisoning the time before last but that can happen anywhere so that's not really my complaint. My wife and I ordered pad thai, drunken noodles and egg rolls to-go in our last visit. The egg rolls were great but the pad thai and drunken noodles tasted awful, like they had been boiled with no sauce or seasoning. Ever seen stark-white pad Thai? Probably supposed to have...something added, right? We called the store and were told we could bring the food back in exchange for possibly getting new dishes cooked. Mind you, it's 9:30pm. The owner/manager said if everyone who complained got a refund they'd be out of business and the food tastes the way it's supposed to. I'm not even sure what to make of that response. Maybe the food is occasionally terrible and that's why people complain? Either way, just order from Sabai Thai if you want noodles. read more

The more we try, the more we love it! We've now tried several appetizers and our favorite remains the crispy egg rolls. The little cheese rolls are good, too. The other appetizers are just so-so. The chicken lettuce wraps were nothing to get excited about, nor are the wings, but we crave the crispy spring rolls! Red curry has been my latest favorite, and DH loves the pineapple rice. Drunken noodles are super flavorful! They get very busy, the parking lot is always busy, and we see a lot of takeout orders. They are a bit short-staffed like everyone else, but if you take your patience with you, you won't be disappointed. We live locally and this is my favorite Thai restaurant so far! We've been a few times and I'd have to say the curry is in the lead for my favorite dish. I've also had the Vietnamese noodles which was good flavor but the curry is just so hearty and I love it! I finally tried a sushi roll and was not disappointed! Next time, we'll order more! Not thai food! Having lived in San Jose for the last 38 years and eating Thai food weekly I can tell you their food is not good thai food. Basil fried rice has no basil and no heat, and when you ask for extra basil they up charge you $2! Grilled salmon in penang sauce is a overly deep fried piece of salmon with a couple table spoons of sauce. And guess what, when you ask for extra sauce $3 upcharge! I wanted to like this place, considering it's so new, but I'm also a proponent of honest, transparent reviews for fellow Yelpers who use this platform looking for advice on where to spend their hard-earned money. We drove a half-hour out to Bulverde this Friday to try out Thai Kitchen and Sushi Bar (TKSB). When we arrived, we were able to snag the last spot in a pretty tight parking lot. I'm not sure if there are other businesses open at 7pm that they share the lot with, but finding a spot may be difficult if you go on a busy weekend evening. We walked in to, what looks like, a renovated gristmill. Oddly layed out, the sushi bar breaks up the flow of the dining room. We were told our wait would be 5-10 minutes, but it was actually 20 minutes. One big rule is not to under shoot the guests expected wait time. It sets people up for frustration, whereas overshooting will set expectation management and please them when the wait time isn't as long as quoted. As it was, there was a family ahead of us that was growing extremely impatient as 2 open tables weren't even being filled. We were seated and approached by a friendly waitress. She took our drink orders. We placed our appetizer and dinner order at the same time, as well. Ten minutes passed before she brought waters, without our drinks. She seemed to remember she forgot them only when she approached the table. She returned 5 minutes later with my husband's soda, but sans my sake margarita. After 20 minutes of waiting for my cocktail, I told her to forget it, that I'd just drink water. She replied with a cheery, "Okay!" No apology for the failure or anything. Our appetizers: a spicy tuna roll and fresh roll came out as we neared one hour of being there. The spicy tuna was spiced well. Not too bland, but not overly spicy either. The sushi rice was tender and the roll tightly wrapped. It was the best tasting dish of our evening. The fresh roll was packed with noodles and greenery, but not much to write home about. We had a craving for tom yum, but the only option was a hot pot (large portion)- no individual bowls like most Thai restaurants offer. We opted for the hot pot and when it came out the waitress placed it on the table, dropped the bowls and left. Thank God we've eaten Tom Yum this way before. Novices are bound to burn themselves if they're not careful. This tom yum ranked second worst of any I've ever had. The broth was packed with tough, fibrous lemongrass, which is essentially inedible so you're left picking it out of your spoon or mouth. The broth itself was watery and, again, filled with the astringent flavor of the lemongrass. Immediately after the tom yum arrived, our entrees did too, so they began to grow cold as we finished our soup. When we did taste each, we agreed my husband's grilled beef salad tasted heavily of nam pla (fish sauce) and not of the well-balanced lime juice, nam pla, red onion flavor we're used to. My pad garlic had great garlic flavor, but little else to counter balance it. I sent back the rice I was served because it had some odd, grey-looking rice mixed into it. It looked as though they gave me the gummy rice that sticks to the bottom of the rice cooker. The guy who replaced it told me he spoke with the kitchen about it because it was unacceptable to send out rice that way. The steamed vegetables the menu said would come with the pad garlic turned out to be ONLY steamed broccoli. But the broccoli had a rubbery texture that rendered it inedible, so I left most of it on the plate. The worst part of the evening was my unwittingly biting into a huge chili pepper which burned both my throat and the roof of my mouth. I ordered my spice level "medium" and after downing two full glasses of ice water to cool the burn, I looked through the rest of my dish and found even more big chunks of pepper. It wasn't medium in the slightest. When I told the staff, she kind of shrugged like, "Oh, well." I've had hot Thai food and my "medium spice" beat that by miles. Even flagging down the waitress to ask for the check was frustrating. It took forever to get her attention and all I wanted to do was get out of there to get home and drink some milk. We won't be returning, but I do hope the reign it in so they can be successful. read more
