My family and I attended the Character Breakfast with Frosty, and unfortunately the experience was very underwhelming for the price. The festive décor that was advertised amounted to just a couple of small items on the buffet table, there was little to no holiday atmosphere beyond that. The professional photos provided via QR code were poorly taken: several were off-center, and in many of them half of our bodies were cut off. The advertised parade lasted approximately two minutes, which felt misleading given the expectations set. Additionally, the restaurant itself appeared worn and in need of maintenance, many of the tables and chairs were visibly chipped and in poor condition. The buffet was comparable to a basic continental breakfast. While smoked salmon was offered, it had been left sitting out without ice, which was concerning. Given the cost of this experience, I expected significantly more, both in quality and execution. I would not recommend families spend this amount of money on what turned out to be a very subpar meal and overall experience. read more

The omelet station had my parents waiting 30 minutes, there was hair in several dishes, the server got our pancake order wrong *incomplete *, and a lot of the hot food was not hot. I had to request basic items to be refilled or brought to our table on many occasions. I hope dinner and lunch are better but I wouldn't know. Came here for a work conference and a work sponsored meal which is the BEST way to eat out. Especially at this place. The dining was nice but surprisingly loud. While they designed a nice place to cram as many people into the location to maximize the square feet, not a lot of attention was paid to the acoustics. Not a romantic date spot for me with that sound level. The waiter was especially attentive and did well with the amount of folks he was served from our group. Occasionally others came in to pitch in and it was a well orchestrated team. We started out with a nice Caymus which is way out of my spend lane but it was a great wine. Then I moved on to a soup instead of the salad. I think it was a special, but it didn't taste super special. I went with the fish of the day which was VERY good with a dollop of mashed potatoes that seemed an odd pairing until I realized they were mainly a steak shop and I guess that's the starch to go to. What amazing, talent chefs this place has. I've never ordered all the appetizers and loved all of them. My whole group couldn't pick a favorite, they were all delicious. The lobster salad is a must try...absolutely perfect. Our server was Luis and he was phenomenal, great personality and very diligent. Halibut was great. Diver scallops were also delicious but small. The service was a bit slow understandable with it being busy but the servers were nice and attentive when available. We tried a variety of things at the restaurant, and I would say my favorite were the sweet potato fries. They had a delicious flavor and went well with the condiments provided. My main entrée was the bone-in ribeye steak along with the scallops, and I also ordered some mushrooms on the side. Starting with the ribeye, it was undercooked I asked for medium rare and got a rare steak that was barely warm. That wasn't a big issue for me; what I didn't like was the sauce. The steak seemed to lack flavor, and the sauce didn't complement it. I will say it was a great cut of meat good quality just really didn't have much else going for it. I enjoyed the scallops a bit more, but they were very chewy, which typically indicates they were overcooked. This sauce was better than the steak's sauce but still seemed bland for a restaurant of this status. Lastly, the mushrooms were once again lukewarm, and the flavor was lacking tasted a bit sour. We chose this place because it was highly recommended by friends of ours saying it is definitely a perfect venue for a celebration. Definitely worth checking out for my birthday! Upon arriving we were greeted with complimentary mimosas, yes please! We were seated and drink orders were taken. A champagne flight for the ladies and 3 Brisket Bloody Mary's for the men. The ladies in our group (3) each ordered cappuccino's as well. The brunch menu had some nice selections and we chose Pork Belly hash, lobster omelet, eggs Benedict, and shrimp and grits as our mains. We also ordered seasonal fruit for the table as well as sweet potato fries with the yum yum sauce (aioli). The food was mouth watering, drinks were great, everyone was very happy with what they had ordered. Stephanie was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. They don't mention cross contamination still happens because they cook all steaks apparently on the same pans. Needless to say I had issues after eating the newly cooked practically raw steak they replaced the first one with. Terrible service for a supposedly 5 Star restaurant. Even 2 star restaurants often send a manager or cook to document exactly what my food allergies are and the reaction if not followed strictly. Plus they make sure to use separate equipment. When we walked in, we were greeted immediately, and our small group was taken to a very nice table. The restaurant is very well appointed and was an excellent shape, the sound was a low rumble, which was very nice so that we could hear each other fairly well during dinner and discussion. First off we went with my parents who require handicap parking and that is not an option. Which should be illegal. They had to park down a hill and too far for them to walk. Our waiter stumbled when he spoke as if he did t know what was on the menu. Our food was cold when it finally arrived an hour. We had to ask for salt and pepper which is bizarre bc normally at a nice restaurant they ask when u get ur salad if u want any freshly ground pepper on your salad. We have been here many times before and for a 5 star steak house it was deplorable. We also didn't get to choose our steak knife which used to be a thing here. They have gone down hill. First time dining at 18 Oaks. The servers were great. We were in the wine room. So it was pretty quiet except for servers walking in to collect bottles of wine. The service was very attentive, but things took a long time, but I appreciated that they were able to divide the bill among so many of us. I didn't get a picture of the fries, but that was the best thing I ate the rolls were also tasty. Sorry no pictures. I got the wagyu filet and it wasn't special. I've had seared wagyu, and it was great. This one was mushy, not melty. There was a spread which tasted like duck and pate. If you love nutmeg, try the brie ice cream. I truly hate nutmeg. It's the worst. The ice cream was ruined, and I just let it melt into a puddle. The panna cotta was great! During our dinner, a fist fight broke out in the main area of the restaurant. If you're interested in fighting, don't ruin other people's time. Don't go out to dinner. Go for a walk. Drinks were well priced - enjoyed their Rose Prosecco which was great and they have an extensive wine / beer menu with some signature cocktails. Food was meh! Wedge salad was okay but nothing to shout home about! Salmon was bland - a huge piece but absolutely flavorless - if I had been blindfolded I would not know what I was eating. It was bizarre! I was on a business trip and was staying at the JW Marriot at San Antonio Hill. I walked into the restaurant and requested to dine and the Manager Phoenix was very cordial and told me I would be seated shortly. I went to the bar and ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon which was complimentary for staying at the hotel. I was seated shortly after and was greeted by my server, Jacob a seven year employee who told me of the evening's specials. A new dish, as of the previous day, The Quail served Al Pastor style was available and I was at a cross roads deciding between a great rib eye or quail? Mmmm? A deciding factor was Phoenix coming by my table and asking me how everything was and I shared with her my dilemma. She recommended the Quail, so, I gave it a go! I ordered the Cesar Salad with anchovies, chard Brussel Sprouts prepared in duck fat to go with the Quail Al Pastor. The meal and service was equally awesome, and if you order the quail, you will not be disappointed! Oh yes, why stop there? I enjoyed a dessert, a berry crumble cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Yum!!! Great steakhouse located within Jw marriott. It is located in the same building as the golf clubhouse and gift shop. We did have reservations and had no issues getting seated. There was a large bar area we noticed upon getting seated. This is one of the more upscale restaurants located here but no real formal dress required. Dressy casual. The bread we got served upon seating was delicious but give a party of 2 more than 2 rolls. That will go quickly! The French onion soup i got was very filling and delicious. My husbands Caesar salad was even better the dressing was perfect and mixed just perfectly. We ordered a $45 bottle of Malbec and it was delicious plus great price point for here considering how crazy markup is on wine at steakhouses... Charlie was our server he was helpful and kind, Demetria was his assistant and she was our absolute favorite! So personable and very attentive. We enjoyed her company. The mac and cheese was my favorite part of the entire meal. So fresh and the crusted bread crumbs atop was just the perfect treat. The cream corn was also delicious. As for the filet my husband got the wagyu steak and it was like butter he could cut right through it! My filet was okay super juicy and more red than usual of what i get at home. Overall was a great experience loved the pace of this restaurant as well because you never felt rushed and allowed you to fully enjoy this nice meal! None of the food was at proper serving temperature. Not cold but not hot enough. The dessert (bread pudding) was cold. Overall, I won't go back. I don't often leave reviews for restaurants because I usually lack the time. This experience left me with the feeling that I needed to make the time. On short notice I visited the venue to inquire about getting a dinner reservation. The staff at the host station were not only accommodating to my request but got my wife and I a table at the time we requested when it was completely booked out on OpenTable. (Celebrating my wife for Mother's Day). Once we arrived we were treated warmly and seated at a cozy table with a beautiful view of the adjacent golf course and Texas Hill country. (Almost forgot to mention rose petals on the table in honor of my amazing wife) Our server, Bree, was easily our favorite part of the experience. Not only was she attentive to all of our needs (she brought my wife a blanket and wrapped her in it because she was cold! This woman is a national treasure!). She also sent appetizers and sides and comped them for us too. The food was delicious and clearly cooked by a well trained brigade of culinary professionals. I will return to this venue to host business partners as it is easily in my list of bucket list dining experiences, I won't be surprised if they earn a Michelin star one day. Won't go back. We spent the weekend at the resort and wanted to check out this restaurant. We walked in and the only greeting and decent service we got was from the host. There was a long wait so we wanted to sit at the bar. We were not greeted or even given food menus. Everyone at the bar had bread and food menus and they were open for another 2 hours. We waited there for at least 30 minutes, it was probably longer, before anyone ever said anything to us. We ordered drinks and decided just to leave after of such distasteful service, even though we were really hungry. My tab for the drinks was $259. Still not even asked if we wanted water, we had to ask for and were given a glass of tap. And still not offered a food menu, and $80 tequila served with lime. Not even asked if we wanted an orange, we were so irritated by this point, still being made to wait even just to ask questions about my bill. We got steak and creamed corn as one entree. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The creamed corn was the perfect mix of sweet and salty.
