Great food service and company.......Thank you Jeanna.. The stuffed chicken and Brussels were the best!!!!

Definitely visit this restaurant if you get the chance! To start our server Gabriel was just amazing at everything! He took the time to ensure the $55 deal for a starter, entree, and side was still available and explained the options. He also took the time to talk to my husband and I and really made the experience amazing! The restaurant was clean, warm, elegant, and music was perfect for a relaxing evening. The food was amazing! I mean amazing!! From beginning to end Gabriel made sure everything was to our liking and provided amazing recommendations. He even took our picture and helped pose us! Just one of a kind server! Visit this location and see just how amazing he is and how great the food is! You won't regret it! Worth the price!

First timer- date night dinner. It was very easy to get a reservation online. Upon arriving about 15 min early we were seated. Nicely kept older building feel. No cozy areas for couples but spacious. Service by Amy was excellent- she was very friendly and helpful. The complimentary bread and butter were delicious. The drinks were tasty. Be warned that many plates come very hot- a bit off putting when you smell butter cooking on your plate still. The crab cakes were lacking but the Salmon was tasty, simply seasoned. The lamb chops were very tender and juicy. Creme brûlée was very creamy and crispy, great addition was the berries it came with. Overall a nice experience but not sure if fully worth the local hype and price. The whole meal experience took us about 2.5 hours

Service is always excellent. The only nitpick I have is the gravy was lukewarm. The flavors were excellent and the sides (creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole) were awesome. One of my favorite spots. Our waiter's name is Hash. Hash does a great job!

This was our first visit to a Ruth's Chris, and we were easily able to get a reservation online for Christmas dinner, about 3 weeks in advance. We were super excited to try the restaurant as we have heard amazing reviews and wanted something special for Christmas, and for our first visit to San Antonio. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated. Unfortunately we were sat in a table near the bar; not sure if that was because we had our 5 year old, just luck of the draw, or what. I was somewhat disappointed because the other part of the restaurant looked like it was more the vibe we were looking for. However, after being seated, I could hear that the other part of the restaurant was LOUD so I was glad. It was very dark (hence the not-so-great picture) but we were tucked into a nice corner area and there weren't any loud patrons at the bar, it was overall very calm and a good vibe with other families seated in the area. Then our server is who really made our meal special! I believe his name was Paul? (I could barely hear him and felt bad to ask again, plus the receipt didn't say.) He was AWESOME!! He explained the menu, made some suggestions, and got our order in QUICK so that our daughter wasn't waiting too long. Our drinks were never empty, he checked on us many times without being too much, and we were so glad to have him help us out. Two managers also stopped by to check on us, so I will say their service is great! The disappointment for me was the food. We ordered a ribeye cooked medium, the stuffed chicken, creamed spinach, and au gratin potatoes. The steak was more towards medium well. Being a ribeye we expected "well marbled" per the menu description, but there was no marble whatsoever. The meat itself had a good flavor, just not the cook or texture we expected. For $77 for 16oz, we were hoping for that perfect steak. The stuffed chicken was perfectly cooked. If you're a cream cheese fan, you'll love this dish, as it is the main/only flavor. The potatoes and creamed spinach were decent but nothing that would make me recommend either. For $186 for 2 entrees and 2 sides, I had hoped for much more. Overall I would say the vibe and the service were great and what one would expect from a "higher end" steakhouse. However, I would say expect chain-level food similar to Applebees, etc. only at a much higher price point. Again, this may not be 100% the fault of the location because the staff we interacted with were great, but a bigger issue with the restaurant chain in general.

Happy hour

We went for happy hour on a Saturday afternoon . We sat at the bar . Food and drinks are next level !

We have never been to Ruth' Chris because of the price point. We decided to give them a try for Culinaria Restaurant Week because their menu did not include dessert. Our waiter took care of us, but I cannot recall his name. Looks like one of the Property Brothers. Not on the bill either. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday evening in mid August. It's a nice restaurant with plenty of parking and a respite from the heat. They have a nice bar and we found out they do have a happy hour during the week that may be a more affordable option. They have a full bar and I opted for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Although not asked for my preference, the waiter ordered me a $21 9 ounce pour. Nice wine list, but prices are pretty steep. My wife had a French 75 and a Jim Beam on the Rocks and those were what was expected at $13 each. We started with Caesar salads. Very nice size. I was left wanting for more of a garlic bite from the dressing like you find at Capparelli's on Main. The loaf of bread was hot and fresh and served with a generous amount of whipped butter. My entree was the 6 ounce filet on a 500 degree plate. That's hot. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare and kept warm as I ate it. My wife got the Shrimp Orleans over mashed potatoes. Very large shrimp and that sauce was so good. For sides we had creamed spinach and cauliflower au gratin. The spinach was awesome and so creamy. The cauliflower was uninspired. It was part of a cauliflower head with a little bit of sauce and then broiled. A little less done than al dente. When they say a vegetable is "au gratin" I'm thinking manageable cuts getting happy in a milk-cheese sauce. We put the leftover sauce from the Shrimp Orleans on it and brought it home to figure out how to make it better.

I finally got to see what all the hype was about! Ruth's Chris is very popular steak house who prides themselves on their method of cooking their meats (broiling). The restaurant has an Italian ambiance, with beautiful settings at each table (though I will say this made my clumsy self quite nervous). Our waiter, Josue, was very friendly and knowable about the menu and wine options. He was attentive throughout the meal, but did not overwhelm us with constantly coming to check in. Highly recommend him as a waiter! The menu is set up where everything is a la carte, so your main dish does not come with any sides. There was a wide variety of options to choose from. I selected the Petite Fillet (8oz) and it ended up being the perfect size. We were informed that the side dishes are big enough to share - so my mom and I split the potato au grautin and they were right about the portions. Only downside to the restaurant is the price, however it's to be expected with a higher end steakhouse. Definitely not in my budget to become a regular, though I will definitely consider it for a special occasion. Ps - we even got a complimentary cheesecake for our birthdays and they sprinkled some birthday confetti on the table as a special touch. :)

We had such a nice time here celebrating my parents wedding anniversary! I was happy we were secluded because it was really busy that night and we wouldn't have been able to enjoy ourselves and celebrate. Going to any Ruth's Chris is such a pleasant time because the food is always cooked to perfection and the atmosphere is enjoyable. However the waitress we had was really impressive and was really on her stuff! She was such a delight and attentive!

16oz Ribeye, Creamed Spinach, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli au Gratin
Amanda N.

Not pictured are the crab cakes which were to die for. Pros: great service, overall great food, the location is great because it's not in a busy area. Cons: my ribeye was a little undercooked but the super hot plate helped get it there, my steak was SUPER salty.

Cold RAW chicken that was served to my son!
Dustin K.

I have been to several Ruth's Chris locations in the past and I have always had a great experience. I wish I could say the same about this location. My family had dinner at this location (for my wife's birthday) and the service/food was terrible! I can't say that anything was prepared perfectly, but the worst was the fact that my sons chicken was RAW! This place should be CLOSED until further training and inspection can be done.

Crme Brle

We ate here Jan 7th. We had a great server, Beth, and the food was as great as I remembered it to be. We had oysters as big as the palm of my hand, the steak was cooked perfectly as usual, the sides were delicious, and the standout was the cheesecake. Sara and Carlos made this a standout experience after a small hiccup. If you're looking for great service and a satisfying meal this is the place to go.

Mushrooms Stuffed with Crabmeat
Mariana C.

Everything was amazing! Went there to celebrate a birthday and from start to finish. Beth our server was superb and checked up on us just enough! Food was on point everything from the stuffed mushroom appetizer, to the steaks and potatos au gratin to the birthday cheesecake! They sat us next to the fireplace in a nice intimate area and it was wonderful!

I visited around 4pm and there was already a nice crowd, but there wasn't a wait. I see this is place having a wait in the evening though. The tables can be expanded so this is a good place for groups as well! The kitchen manager even came out to ask me how my visit was and that really tells you a lot about this place. They really want to make sure you enjoy your time. The prices may be on the high side for some but I believe the quality of the food and the service merits the price. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back!

Their servers and staff are so wonderful, on this occasion I celebrated my birthday with friends and the staff at Seasons made it extra special. They offered me a special birthday dessert and personalized card and gift. In addition, their staff was wonderful and attentive to our party, taking time to take photos and celebrate with us. The dining area is so beautiful with the florals and the lovely lighting that it truly creates a wonderful backdrop for a regular dinner or a celebration. I can't say enough about their food, I haven't had anything that I don't like. I've had flatbreads and entrées, steaks and seafood, it's all wonderful. With their extensive wine list, I love to do their wine flights so I get to try new wines. Their seasonal mixed drinks are always great as well. Went in expecting an experience similar or other Darden staples such as Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse- not that there would have been anything wrong with that- but was pleasantly surprised. There was nothing about the place that made it feel "commercial." Great drinks- we each enjoyed an old fashioned (except chipped ice really reduces the enjoyment as it melts too fast- recommend large cubes or spheres). They also had a great selection of wines, which we got a flight to split with our meal. We had a great server, Ashley, who had an easy-going and fun personality and also was very knowledgeable about the food and drink offerings and made wonderful suggestions. We started with lump crab and shrimp stuffed mushrooms. Although it took longer than expected, it gave us time to dissect the menu and enjoy our drinks. When they arrived they were bubbly hot and so tender and flavorful on the inside and encased in crisp charred coating on the outside giving it a nice texture dichotomy. Note: Forgot to snap pic- sorry. For our entrees we opted to split the shrimp and grits, adding a side of grilled sea scallops. Not normally a fan of grits, I'm always willing to try again and I am glad that I did. They were smooth, creamy, buttery, and cheesy. The shrimp were lightly seasoned and grilled beautifully. Hunks of chorizo and tomato were spread across the top along with a decadent cream sauce. In addition we ordered a flatbread off of "shareable" section of the menu that Ashley had suggested: the roasted corn and spiced bacon. It was absolutely fantastic. Emphasis on "flat" in flatbread (which is my preference- cracker thin, I say!). The pairing of sweetcorn and spiced-bacon worked so well together! Just a delicious bite that had deep flavor in a thin package! Finally, their desserts are served in these little shot glasses and all looked absolutely decadent! We did let Ashley talk us into a couple to take home.

This was my first time here and after reviewing the menu it struck me as one of those places that does a little bit of everything so that there's something for everyone...but as the old saying goes "Jack of all trades, master of none", that's how I felt about J Alexander's. The food wasn't bad and it got the job done....but it was not cooked with love. For an appetizer we got the spinach queso dip with salsa and tortilla chips....the salsa tasted like it was from out of a jar and wasn't my favorite. For my entree I went with the Steak Maui...in theory, the combination of a ribeye marinated in a sauce of pineapple, soy and ginger with a side of mac & cheese should be delicious but in reality it was just kinda mediocre...it tasted it hadn't actually been marinated and rather that they just dopped a ton of sauce on top of the cut of steak...it hadn't penetrated the flavor of the meat at all...combined with the fact i ordered it medium and it came out a bit closer to medium well i would NOT order this again...the plate was a generous serving size but as one of the most expensive items on the menu it did not warrant the price for the quality of the end product. I don't see myself rushing back anytime soon unless I'm with a group like I was in this instance and you're trying to find something for everyone.

Unfortunately, after our experience on October 18, 2026, my family and I have decided we will no longer return to this location. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge something positive. Throughout our previous visits, the customer service has always been wonderful. The employees have consistently been welcoming, friendly, and helpful. That's one of the biggest reasons we've enjoyed coming here over the years. However, yesterday's experience was completely unacceptable. My wife, daughter, and I stopped by around lunchtime. My daughter ordered her usual fish bites with French fries, I ordered my usual blackened catfish with two sides, and my wife decided to try the Spicy Diablo Fish & Shrimp. Everything initially looked delicious. Unfortunately, that quickly changed. My wife noticed something unusual about her shrimp. It appeared extremely translucent, almost as though it hadn't been thoroughly cooked. I inspected it myself, pulled a piece apart, and was disgusted by what appeared to be raw shrimp inside. We immediately brought it to the staff's attention, and they agreed to prepare a completely fresh replacement. I appreciated their willingness to correct the issue. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. I had already taken a bite of my blackened catfish, which initially tasted delicious. However, something about the texture didn't seem right. It tasted unusually gamey, and certain portions appeared undercooked. My wife pointed out another suspicious-looking section of the fish. When I attempted to cut into it, I noticed it wasn't separating into the flaky texture I would normally expect from properly cooked fish. Instead, it was rubbery and surprisingly difficult to cut. At that point, I was absolutely disgusted. Shortly afterward, I became extremely nauseated and ended up vomiting multiple times in the restaurant's restroom. It was a miserable and upsetting experience, and I was genuinely concerned about the possibility of foodborne illness. I brought these concerns to the manager's attention. Unfortunately, the response I received felt rather indifferent considering the seriousness of the situation. To be fair, I was advised to monitor my stomach and watch for any additional symptoms. We were also given a refund, which I appreciated. However, a refund doesn't erase the concern of potentially being served undercooked seafood. What makes this even more disappointing is that we had experienced a minor issue during a previous visit when our food was excessively seasoned. That situation was handled with an apology, and we moved on without any problem. Mistakes happen, and I completely understand that. But there's a significant difference between a meal being overseasoned and seafood appearing to be improperly cooked. Thankfully, I began feeling better as the day progressed. However, I sincerely hope nobody else has to experience what I went through. Something else that weighs heavily on my mind is the number of elderly customers who frequently dine at this establishment. Improperly cooked seafood can pose serious health risks, particularly to older adults and people with vulnerable immune systems. I'm not writing this review to bash the employees, attack the restaurant, or damage anyone's reputation. I'm sharing my experience because food safety should never be taken lightly. I genuinely hope management takes this incident seriously, reviews its food preparation procedures, and ensures that meals are properly cooked before being served. A restaurant can recover from a bad meal or an occasional customer service issue. But when customers begin questioning whether their food is safe to eat, that's an entirely different matter. It's unfortunate because this location has given my family many wonderful dining experiences over the years. But after yesterday, we've lost our confidence in this location, and sadly, we will not be returning.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

River Walk escape without the downtown rush. -- We first wandered upon Roam & Range at Sol Cypress…read morein San Antonio on an October stroll about a year ago and have happily revisisted several times since. The Marriott Tribute Portfolio property sits along a quieter stretch of the River Walk between Pearl and downtown, with sleek interiors, an outdoor fireplace lounge, lush greenery and a river-facing patio. Ducks, joggers, people-watching and glowing hanging lights after sunset make it feel like a little hotel holiday without leaving the city. Service has always been friendly and accommodating to our preferences, and the menu is surprisingly robust with New Orleans-inspired Cajun and seafood flavors alongside steaks, pasta, duck, lamb and Southern comfort dishes. Our repeat fave is the fried calamari -- crispy, savory and brightened up with jalapeños, chile flakes, sauce and grilled lemon. The beau keeps raving about the Diablo pasta. The catfish nuggets were a bit drier for us, but a side of the marina sauce brought them right back to life along with tartar sauce. For next time: frog legs and alligator appetizers on the menu! One of our serendipitous moments was walking along and were spotted by friends already seated here, waving us over from across the River Walk to join them. That pretty much sums up the charm -- scenic, easygoing and social. Great for daily happy hour, al fresco dining or a relaxed stop between Pearl and downtown when you want the River Walk experience with calmer space.

When I came up to the place it wasn't a sit down place to eat, but that you have to order which was confusing as there were a lot of other restaurants within the small space. There was a guy there that was picking up wing and he stated that they were the best and big pieces. So he showed me how to order. And I place my order as it was Wednesday dollar day for wings so I order wings. I had the parmesan garlic, lemon pepper. Let me tell you they were so good, the wait was too long but worth the wait. It best to order online then go pick up. The restroom were locked so that is why I gave 4 and we weren't able to speak with no one. If you need any special thing or extras please write it I. The space provided because they don't give you anything but what you order no napkin just nothing else. Enjoy and hope the you didn't forget to order anything special or extra as you won't get it.

The texture of fish is crunchy on the outside with a flaky, meaty texture on the inside . The wings are fried in a way that's just right. They are crunchy and the sauce adheres so well without making them soggy. The green beans, red beans, and wedges are great options for sides to accompany the fish and wings. It was my first time ordering from a place with this type of setup. It was so cool! I scanned my order on an iPad and open pops a locker door with my food. If you're in the mood for fried fish and wings...this place does not miss.
